Summary ~ Mark and Jisoo move to California per Jisoo’s request. On their first day there Jisoo sets off to find friends, of course Mark isn’t straying too far because California is a new place for Jisoo.

“Mark, I’m so excited! We’re really moving to California!” Jisoo beamed in pure happiness. Mark just smiled at her.

“Why did you want to move to Cali anyways?” Mark questioned.

“Well, why not.” Mark gave her an unconvinced look so she caved.

“Fine. I heard Katy Perry’s song and it made Cali sound so nice.”

“Plus, where you live in LA the coast is pretty close right?” Jisoo asked and Mark nodded which made her squeal in pure delight. Oh she was gonna love living here. A few hours later and the plane finally landed in Los Angeles. They headed to get their bags and there waiting for them was Mark’s family.

Jisoo ran to them and hugged each and every one of them. After that Mark went to greet them as well. They sat in the back of Mama and Papa Tuan’s car as they drove them to their newly bought apartment.

“謝謝爸爸媽媽!” [thank you mom and dad!] Jisoo thanked in Chinese and both parents smiled at her. Before Mark got out of the car his parents stopped him.

“You made a good choice with her Yien.” Mark thanked them before helping her with their bags. Mark got the key out and unlocked the door as they dragged their bags in. They pushed it to the side and Jisoo smiled big.

“Markie! Let’s go out! I wanna make new friends! Oo, let’s stop by the beach, there’s still day left!” Jisoo exclaimed, one after one. Mark laughed a bit before speaking,

“Sure, but let’s get a rental car first.” Jisoo nodded enthusiastically and basically clinged onto Mark while they made their way to the rental car building. Once they rented the car they drove to the beach. The couple took off their shoes off and Jisoo skipped her way along the sand while Mark stuck close behind.

Jisoo spotted a blonde girl so she made her way over. She decided it was now or never to test her English. She tapped the girl on her should and when she turned Jisoo hesitantly spoke.

“H–Hi, my name is Jisoo. I just arrived in California.” Out of nerves she looked away from keeping eye contact and fiddled with her fingers. As she looked around she caught sight of Mark a few feet away behind the girl and he gave her a thumbs up indicating she was doing good.

“Hello! I’m Rosé or Chaeyoung, whichever you prefer and welcome to Cali!!” The girl cheerfully said.

“Are you here alone?” Jisoo questioned as she noticed no one else around.

“Yep! Just wanted to enjoy the nice view.” Chaeyoung said with a bright smile.

Jisoo took a deep breath before stumbling out what she wanted,

“Do you maybe wanna be friends? I’m new here as you know and I came here to try and make some friends.”

“Oh of course! You seem so fun to be around, Jisoo!”

Jisoo let out a big breath at the relief that Chaeyoung wanted to be friends with her.

“Just call me Chae unnie.” Chaeyoung stated with a small smile.

“You’re older than me?” Jisoo questioned.

“I’m 24.” Chaeyoung replied with.

“I’m 26.”

Chaeyoung made an ‘o’ shape with her mouth.

“Sorry bout that unnie, you just look really young so I assumed you were younger.” Jisoo waved it off with a smile.

“So, shall you come with me to explore to beautiful city of LA?” Jisoo asked as she stuck her arm out in which Chaeyoung gladly took.

“Let’s go!” Chaeyoung exclaimed excitedly.

“So I hope you don’t mind but someone else is going to be joining us.”

“That is completely fine, I don’t mind.” Chaeyoung stated.

“C’mon Mark! We’re ready to go!!” Jisoo excitedly yelled out to Mark. Mark headed over to the car with the two girls trailing behind. The two got in the backseats while Mark got in the drivers seat.

“Markie, could you, uh, play California Gurls...” Jisoo asked from behind and he just nodded and connected his phone to the rental car and played California Gurls. The two girls excitedly chatted in the back as the song played on repeat. They put on their shades and decided to sit up on the back part of the convertible as they threw their arms up, enjoying the fresh air.

The two enjoyed this for a bit before Chaeyoung said something,

“So, that Mark guy, pretty hot...” Jisoo turned to look at Mark and saw him driving with one arm, the sight was pretty hot.

“Mhm.” Jisoo stated calmly as she continued to looked at Mark.

“And a man with tattoos as well, me likey.” It finally hit Jisoo that Chaeyoung was trying to get Jisoo to set her up with her man.

“Wait.” Chaeyoung looked to her.

“I didn’t make this clear but he’s my husband, and yes, he’s hot, and yes, he’s a man with tattoos.” Jisoo stated quite possessively. Chaeyoung flushed bright red.

“I’m so sorry!” She squeaked out. Jisoo softened at that.

“No, it’s okay, you didn’t know.” Jisoo reassured. The two quickly put that past them and again threw their hands up in the hair as the wind passed through their locks and as California Gurls continued to play in the background. They yelled out every now and then which earned them a few weird looks but they ignored it.

Though the car came to stop soon with the music fading out too.

“Mark, where are we?” Jisoo questioned as the two girls got out.

“This is an ice cream parlor I really love. They have some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted!” He excitedly exclaimed and the two girls cooed over how cute he was.

“How old is he unnie?” Chaeyoung whispered as they walked in behind Mark.

“He’s 27.” She whispered back.

“27?!”

“I know, he doesn’t act 27.” She giggled. The three got situated in a table and they waited for the waiter to arrive.

As they finished ordering Mark excused himself to the bathroom.

“How’d you two meet unnie?”

“Well, we met in Korea. I got fired from my job and Mark happened to get fired from his too. From there we ranted about our problems and became close friends. After that, we moved in together and went out job hunting. And after we had successfully gotten jobs it was when we started realizing our feelings for each other. After a few years of dating Mark proposes to me and we have our dream wedding in Korea. Then I decide to move to LA, and ta da, here we are.” Jisoo stated happily.

“Wait, that’s cute unnie! Give me a relationship like that universe!!” Chaeyoung dramatically pleaded.

Soon after Mark came back and their ice cream arrived. Though their table was outside and it was slightly hot they didn’t mind, the parlor was actually close to the coast (Jisoo concluded Mark drove them in a circle a few times before taking them to the parlor) so on occasion when the waves hit a little water sprinkled onto them.

After enjoying their ice cream they took off their shoes and walked onto the sandy beach. Jisoo and Mark held hands as Chaeyoung sneakily took a picture of them. The three walked until it was sunset and the view was absolutely beautiful.

While Jisoo was admiring the sunset with Chaeyoung she felt eyes on her so she turned her head to Mark to see him looking at her.

“What?”

“Nothing. Just can’t believe something so pretty is right in front of me and it’s all mine.”

Jisoo blushed, it was no fair, Mark always knew how to make her blush.

Wait.

She can play at this game too.

“Mark.”

“Hm?” He replied with as he played with Jisoo’s fingers.

“There’s this line in California Gurls that I really love.” She said sweetly.

“Which line?”

“Sex on the beach.” Jisoo singsonged with a wink. She lightly giggled as Mark flushed red.

“Just kidding, I like the lines, california girls, we’re unforgettable and california girls, we’re undeniable. I’m a california girl now so don’t you think those apply to me too?”

“Of course they apply to you Soo. You’re absolutely undeniable and unforgettable. No one would be able to deny you nor forget you.” Mark said genuinely as he lightly caressed Jisoo’s face. She smiled as she brought her own hand to Mark’s cheek.

Jisoo then remembered Chaeyoung was still here so she turned but saw no one and noticed it was now dark out. As she looked around for the blonde, she felt something in her shorts pocket and found a piece of paper.

Jisoo smiled and put the note back.

“I assume we were about to kiss so pucker up lover boy.” Jisoo smiled.

The two met in the middle as their lips connected into a sweet kiss.

After doing so Mark’s eyes widened.

“We forgot to pick up Milo and Dalgom from the airport!!”
