12 Hours Before The Storm
"Are you sure everything is guarded?"
Seokjin laughed as he dusted his hands off. "If you want to quadruple check, be my guest."
Namjoon chuckled. "I'm sorry, I just don't want your house to get all messed up. It's the nicer of the four."
The oldest fidgets with his hands, he wonders if he should tell Namjoon of the past couple of days. "Namjoon—"
"Hey do you think Yoongi is alright?" Namjoon grabs onto a bag of sand, checking for any leaks. "Maybe we could take this over."
Seokjin scratches the back of his neck, tugging at his own hairs before sighing. "Joon, we gotta talk."
The younger looks up, seeing the concerned expression on his friend's face makes him drop the bag. "Sure. Is everything okay?"
The brunet grabs onto his friend and pulls him to his couch, sitting him down. He fidgets with his hands again as he takes a deep breath in. "I'm telling you this because you're my friend a-and I trust you a lot."
Namjoon nodded, trying to make eye contact with his friend who kept looking down at his hands. "Okay..."
After taking another breath in, Seokjin looks up and with a steady voice says, "I kissed Hoseok."
At that, Namjoon's chest feels like it's been emptied out.
"I... I've been confused of who I am and he said that you won't know unless you try, so I kissed him." The older grows nervous because Namjoon's face doesn't change—He doesn't even blink. "I didn't know what really was going through my mind, and I was still confused so I went on a date with him."
Namjoon then shakes his head and looks away. "Why are you telling me this?"
"I'm coming out to you."
His head snaps back up and he sees how scared Seokjin looks. He didn't want his friend to be scared, not with him. "Are... Are you gay?"
"No, well—I don't know." The older gripped at his hair as his shoulders tense. "I don't know yet who I am, I'm still trying to figure it out. I know I like girls and... and guys."
"Because of Hoseok?" Namjoon waits as Seokjin raises his eyes to him. "Do you like him?"
The older shakes his head and quickly grabs onto Namjoon's hands and makes sure the two make eye contact. "No, I don't like him. The reason I kissed him and went on a date was to know if I did. And I don't."
But this didn't have the younger convinced, he looked down at their hands with nothing but doubt. Why was he coming out to him of all people? Why not Yoongi? Why not Taehyung? Why break his heart with his past actions?
"I like you Joon."
"No you don't."
Seokjin frowned and he pulled on Namjoon's hands. "Who are you tell me how I feel?" He chuckles in surprise. "Aren't you happy? I've finally returned your feelings and you're questioning me."
"I'm so happy to hear you kissed and went on a date with my friend, yeepie." Namjoon pulls away his hands and shifts in his position, turning away. "I don't think you like me Jin. Why would you?"
"Joon, all I could think about with Hoseok, was you." Seokjin laughs as he shifts closer to Namjoon on the couch. "All I could think about was 'I wonder how it would be with Namjoon.'"
"But why, hyung, why?" Namjoon turns to Seokjin with tearful eyes. "After all this time, why now? Why with Hoseok? Why when I was ready to move on?"
Seokjin's smile finally falls flat. "You... were moving on?"
"It's been months, hyung. I told you I wasn't going to wait if I didnt have a chance." The dirty blond lets his head fall onto his hands as he groans. "I wanted to move on. I just wanted us to be friends, just the way it was."
The oldest is confused. This isn't how it was supposed to go. He wasn't supposed to be rejected. Was he being rejected? Was that what was going on? The Kim Seokjin... Rejected?
Stuck in thought, Namjoon just watches as Seokjin's expression falls. "Hyung, I—"
But he was interrupted. Not by the thunder that had slowly crept onto the area, but by Seokjin kissing him roughly. It was a desperate kiss that pushed Namjoon back onto the couch, one that pulled them to become entangled with each other.
Seokjin's hands grabbed onto Namjoon's shirt, clinging onto him, fearing he'd let go. The other's hands are still stunned in place, especially since his crush is straddling him into stillness. The younger's hands finally take action as they grab onto his partner's neck, pulling him closer.
Namjoon didn't want this. This is the last thing he wanted to happen. He didn't want to fall for his friend all over again. He didn't want to be pulled back onto that spiral of emotions.
Yet here he was, stomach turned onto itself as he pushed Seokjin onto the couch, changing their positions so that he was on top.
"Jin, I can't." Namjoon's expression softened as his hand caressed his friend's cheek. "I can't do this to you or myself."
"Do what? Let yourself be happy?" Seokjin smiles as he brings his hand to Namjoon's face and wipes the tear that slips out. "Why can't you just accept the fact that I like you? Why is it such a predicament?"
Namjoon tried to sit up and pull away, but the brunet pulls him down, kissing him again. This time it was soft, slow, meaningful.
Out of breath and self control, the younger pulls away and sits up. "I don't deserve you."
"Who's to decide that? Me." Seokjin sits up, only to climb onto Namjoon's lap, finally being able to trap him. "I think you're just scared I'll hurt you."
"And so what if I am?" Namjoon grows serious and he grabs onto Seokjin's shoulders. "I have a right to be scared. For all I know, you are still confused."
"Baby," At the nickname, Namjoon's hands fall to Seokjin's side from being taken aback. "I want to be with you. I want to care for you and love you. What more do you want from me?"
The two stared at each other. Silence would have been nice, maybe so that Namjoon could figure out what he actually wanted, but the rain and the thunder interrupted his thoughts. He just stared up at the boy in his lap.
Right, he was still on his lap.
"Hyung... I don't know what I want. I want to be able to think in peace." He slightly chuckles as he placed his hands on Seokjin's waist. "I can't do that with you on top of me and with the storm."
Seokjin quickly gets off his friend, gulping down his embarrassment. "You can't leave while it's like that outside."
"I think you just don't want me to leave..."
And before Seokjin can say anything, the doorbell rings, followed by quick yet strong knocks at the front door.
Namjoon stands up and makes his way towards the front door, unlocking it and opening it.
Soaking wet, shivering yet smiling, there stands Hoseok. "H-Hey hyung!"
Seokjin's eyes widen and he runs to the front door. "Hoseok." He pulls him inside, closing the door behind him. "What are you doing here?"
Hoseok's coat is being taken off of him by Seokjin as he speaks. "I was driving when it started pouring and I couldn't see the road. There was no way I could keep driving and you were close by."
Namjoon just watched as Hoseok fondly smiled as the oldest of the three wiped his face dry. He couldn't leave. Not when his rival had just come to stay.
