The dancers had prepared a choreography for the green screen camera's to pick up. If they were successful to make every movement be picked up by the camera, everyone would be given the day off.
But Yoongi had no hope whatsoever. Jimin was sitting down on a chair as he instructed the contemporary dancers.
Taemin, who not only was the director of shows but director of the contemporary dance department, was furious. He was a sweet person and had the patience of a saint but he couldn't help and yell at his best dancer for letting himself get hurt nearing qualification competitions.
He told Jimin in the harshest tone he could pull from inside him, "You sit down and direct. That's it. If I get told you were dancing, you're cut from the show."
So Yoongi really had no hope of having a free day as he saw Jimin to be the best dancer, Hoseok and Jungkook being good to say the least. The other two worked hard, but today they seemed to be slacking off, today of all days.
"What do you want to do for the rest of the day if we get it free Tae?" Namjoon asked.
"Eat, drink, relax mostly." Taehyung shrugged as he clicked away on the computer.
"I want to go to Yoongi's and have a house party!" Seokjin said, sitting on top of the desk right next to Namjoon.
Namjoon groaned and nodded towards the dancers. "I want to too but I want the other three to come as well."
Yoongi looked over at Jimin. He ran his hand through his hair looking the most stressed Yoongi had ever seen him. The blond tapped his foot to the beat of the music, desperately wanting to dance himself.
"But Yoongi doesnt want to." Namjoon pouted.
Seokjin shrugged as he lightly hit his foot against Namjoon's leg. "It's his house, he gets to do whatever he wants."
Yoongi looked down at his watch then back at Jimin.
"Yeah but house parties is where we have the most fun." Namjoon nudged Taehyung. "Right Tae?"
Taehyung nodded as he kept his eyes on the screen. "It'll get boring if it's just us after so long anyways."
Yoongi then stood up and went out the Green Record's Room.
Taehyung faced his two friends. "You think he's mad?"
Namjoom shrugged. "I hope not. It's only been a month since we made him snap at us. It takes longer for anger to build up."
Seokjin hit Namjoon's leg again. "Could be stress from work."
Yoongi came back in the room, holding an icepack wrapped in paper towels. He didn't even look at his friends as he made his way to Jimin and tapped his shoulder.
Jimin looked up and smiled. "Hey hyung."
Yoongi extended the ice pack towards. "It's been two hours."
Jimin took the ice pack in his hands, confused. "Huh?"
"You said you have to ice your thigh for ten minutes every two hours. It's been two hours."
Jimin smiled at Yoongi. "You remembered?"
Yoongi looked away from Jimin, embarrassed to admit it, but after seeing Jimin in so much pain after his performance, it made him worry more than he wanted to. "What do you plan on doing if we get the day free?"
"Uh, I don't really have anything planned." Jimin said, a little sad that the thing he only ever did in his free time was practice and practice.
"Well I'm having a house party if we do. So... you and your friends are welcome to come by." Yoongi scratched the back of his neck. "You wouldn't have to bring anything by the way..."
Jimin extended his hand out, grabbed onto Yoongi's long sleeve and shook it playfully. "I'll make my dancers perfect just so I can go to to your party~"
Yoongi suppressed his smile as he walked off. "Alright."
The other three stared at Yoongi, Seokjin being the only one to speak up. "What was that?"
Yoongi looked at his hyung. "What was what?"
Seokjin flailed his arm towards Jimin. "Whatever that was!"
Yoongi rolled his eyes. "You kept making me feel bad so I invited them to the house party."
The three friends smiled widely. "Really? You really having the three of them over?" Namjoon asked, excited for the party that may only come if they succeed.
Yoongi nodded as he looked through his bag. "Yeah."
Taehyung's eyes were bright. "Thank you hyung~"
"I promise to cook something up for the party." Seokjin smiled. "I'll let you help me if you want~"
Yoongi scoffed. "I'm not a little kid..."
"Yah!"
They all turned towards the call, coming for Jimin, pointing at one of the dancers. "Right foot, left foot, spin, tumble, rise, and set! Not any harder than what you've done before! Get to it. I want a free day too you know?!"
Yoongi gulped down some fear. "I swear, he's scary..."
Namjoon smirked and pushed Yoongi slightly. "He's trying to get the day free for you!"
Yoongi rolled his eyes. "He is in pain and wants to get away from work, that's all."
"We're ready to roll." Taeyong spoke over the mic.
Jinwoo walked in the room from the camera's control room. "Alright everybody, right where this green wall is where I need you to dance at. Moving out of frame will mess up the movement detectors on camera so keep that in mind. You can fit six at a time, so head of each unit, pick your best dancers."
Jungkook pointed at six of his dancers, naming all of them as he pointed. "Kai, Moonbin, Jennie, Irene, Heejun, and myself. Heh. Sorry if I didn't pick you."
Hoseok looked over all his dancers. "You all are so good though..." He pointed at his unit. "Rocky, Yuta, Tiffany... hmmm... Yugyeomie, want in?"
The younger didnt have his own unit, he only did the craziest choreographies alongside Hoshi. He nodded. "Sure. As long as you are in."
Hoseok looked at his unit for approval. "You all dont mind right?"
They smiled at the boy who smiled so brightly. "Nope!"
Jimin stood up, squinting his eyes from the pain. His dancers went stiff as he looked over them.
As sweet, innocent, and calm as Jimin was outside of work, he was the scariest head of units. The four heads were to be promoted by the end of the year to directors for sure, but Jimin wasn't too sure about it. He felt as if everything he did wasn't enough so he was hard on his dancers, making them the best unit of the whole company, but still not enough for Jimin.
"Lisa, Hoshi, Ten, Minghao, WinWin..." He looked over the rest of his dancers. He really wished he could just pick himself or someone from one of the other units. Jimin never had high expectations on his dancers since from his view, if he wasn't good enough, neither was his unit.
He looked Jisoo up and down. In his eyes, the girl was probably as good as he was, and he hated it. She was a constant reminder that he needed to do better but couldn't. When in reality, none of the dancers could actually compare to him.
Jimin moved his eyes from Jisoo to another girl. "Sana." The boy then moved away the chair, not wanting to sit any longer.
"Ready whenever you guys are." Jinwoo instructed Jungkook's unit onto the green stage. "Make sure your suits are tight and all detectors are in place and aren't loose."
Jungkook was center, as always, this time having Moonbin next to him as the other four were behind them.
"Taeyong! Start rolling!" Jinwoo called out.
Taeyong turned on the cameras, waiting for the signal to start the music.
Jungkook looked behind him and over to his fellow center, Moonbin nodding that they were ready. Jungkook raised his hand and waved it quickly so the music would be played.
As expected, it went by smoothly. None of Jungkook's unit missed a beat or went out of frame. When Taeyong spoke into the mic, "Good," Jungkook was quick to high five the dancers he picked out, with a huge grin on his face.
Next was Hoseok's unit. Yugyeom and Himself were center, the rest behind. His choreography had more movements than Jungkook's, so they would have to be careful. But as to no surprise, Taeyong gave out a, "Great." And Hoseok high fived his whole unit.
Now, it was Jimin's unit. He pointed at Minghao and Ten. "You two, center. Sana behind Ten, next to her, Lisa. Behind Minghao, WinWin, next to him, Hoshi."
They nodded, but before they could make their way to stage, Jimin said with the sweetest and most innocent smile, "Don't mess up."
Jimin's choreography would be the hardest to keep in frame. The space was big enough for Jungkook and Hoseok's units but the blond was worried his unit wouldn't pass through.
Ten gave out the signal and the music started.
Jimin watched all his picked dancers carefully, it all was going smoothly until the tumbling and rise section. From Jimin's angle, Sana's arm seemed to have overlapped the frame so his obnoxiously loud sigh told the rest of his unit that they would be practicing for hours back at the company.
The music came to an end and Jimin was already making his way to scold Sana when Taeyong went and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, have yourselves a free day."
The dancers rejoiced, Jimin confused as ever. He could have sworn the girl messed up but his picked dancers cut his train of thought as they went up to him.
"We did it!" Lisa clapped her hands.
Jimin nodded. "Good enough." He then limped his way back to his belongings.
It wasn't unusual for Jimin to not give praise. In fact, saying 'Good enough' and not criticizing his dancers for the smallest of details was probably the best praise they could get out of him.
Hoseok was always praising his unit. Even when they messed up, he'd always point out what they did right and brush away the wrong. Jungkook was sort of awkward when it came to praise. He did his best but wasn't good when it came for individual praise so whenever one person would exceed expectations, he'd congratulate everyone on their regard. The blond wasn't taught that way. Jimin's hardness did earn him best unit for a reason. Hoseok was too soft on his dancers making them the third best and Junkook's the second best.
The rest of the units at BigShot, to Jimin at least, were babied too much and that's what caused them to not be nearly as good as them.
But that's just the way he thought.
