CHAPTER THRITY-FOUR!

IN JAPAN...

"we don't have the space to transport all the patients! we can only take three to four at most!" a soldier informed the elderly couple.

the japanese military was trying their best to get citizens evacuated and away from the s-rank gate, the casualties have been catastrophic so they've been doing the best they could.

the doctor looks at the soldier in disbelief, "you've got to be kidding. we have more than ten patients who are unable to move..."

"we cannot afford to worry about people who might die at any moment! the giants are heading this way, you will die if you stay!" the soldier argues back, furrowing his eyebrows, hoping the couple will comply with him.

"i cannot abandon the patients." the doctor retorted firmly. "my wife and i promised to protect them until the end."

hearing the determination in the doctor's voice, the soldier sighs in return. he couldn't just leave them.

"...in that case, i'll stay as well. i cannot run away knowing that there are civilians," he states. "first, we should take cover inside.

the soldier's voice was overpowered by loud bang and he stares up to see a giant looming behind a building

"I-IT'S A GIANT! SHOOT!"

the soldiers all began to fire at the giants. but it barely did any damage as one of the giant continues to move towards them, outstretching it's hand.

"NO!" the soldier shouts as he moves to protect the doctor and his wife from the giant.

then suddenly, an explosion like sound was heard. out of nowhere, a massive white naga slammed its weapons into the giant without warning and sends it flying.

"what in the world..." the soldier mutters in fear as he stares at the white naga wide-eyed.

"it's way too dangerous." a new worried voice states.

"i know, we'd better move out of here. this place is too close to the hospital." another clam voice joins.

the soldier turns to the direction of the voices, his eyes going wide as pie plates at the sight of jin-woo and [y/n].

above the doctor, a debris falls from the building. jin-ho was quick to take out his shield, protecting them.

"i'll stand by while helping these people get evacuated, jin-ho states and the two nod at him.

[y/n] summons her dagger and runs off first, joining her sun knight, perseus who was holding off the giant for his queen.

she runs on his back and smirks when the giant is in her line of sight. jumping up, she activates her newest skill.

[SKILL: 'DANCE OF THE SUN GODDESS' ACTIVATED.]

her dagger grows hot and the blade ignites into a powerful flame, as if the balde itself was made of fire. with a single swing of her dagger, she cuts off the giant's head in a huge ring of fire.

she smiles at how effective the skill is and laughs. "this is new skill is amazing!"

"NI-SAN BEHIND YOU!" a little girl cries as she's being carried by her older brother.

the older boy, who looked no older than 17 held his little sister tightly as they were being chased a giant.

he looks back and grits his teeth but doing so, he trips and falls.

his sister flies forward, tears pooling in her eyes by the hard impact. the boy looks to see that his foot is caught in the rubble

he turns to his sister, tears pricking his eyes knowing what he has to do.

"MAKI RUN!"

"NO I'M NOT LEAVING YOU NI-SAN!"

the two siblings hear the giant right behind them, outstretching it's hands towards them.

"MAKI RUN! PLEASE!" the boy screams, tears spilling from his eyes.

the little girl shrieks and closes her eyes, hoping and praying someone would save her and older brother.

suddenly in a flash of purple and gold lightning, the arms of the giant were cut off and in the process, the girl and her brother were whisked away.

it was igris and icarus, they held the two siblings in one arm while the other held their swords.

before the summons could do anything else, iron came jumping in with his weapon. he smashes it down on the giant's head.

the force of the monster fall was great, so that the kids weren't harmed, igris and icurus turned around and protected the kids with their bodies.

once the wind dies down, a tick mark appears on the summon's heads as they glare at the bulky summon who lets out a cry of victory.

they sweat when iron stares at them with a proud look. the two could only sigh and turn back to face the kids in their arms.

igris caresses the girl's head gently and she stares up at the summon curiously.

while icarus hugs the boy in his arms, he freezes at the sudden action but he soon melts in his arms. the poor boy had gone through so much to keep his little sister safe.

THE TWO PLAYERS overlook their summons either saving citizens or taking down giants.

"seems like iron is excited because of his recent promotion!" [y/n] laughs as she stands beside jin-woo.

he shrugs his shoulder casually. "he's doing is job well, so it's all good."

then, the japanese soldier who they saved before approached them with a bow.

"uh...thank you," the soldier stammers. "thank you for saving—"

"you! good! brave soldier!" jin-woo interrupts and gave him a thumbs up.

[y/n] snorts at her boyfriend's horrible communication skills. she knows damn well he could have easily understood the soldier with the language skill they have but chose not to.

he then turns to jin-ho with a blatant look. "jin-ho, take this man with you and wrap up the evacuation."

"yes, hyung-nim!"

the two player glance at each other, their eyes glowing with excitement. they then turn to the headless giant that the female player killed.

IT WAS TIME TO GET SERIOUS.

"it's all yours my queen." jin-woo states, kissing the side of her head

she claps excitedly and outstretches her hand towards the dead monster with a happy smirk. her [h/l] [h/c] hair sways with the wind as her eyes shine a beautiful gold.

"AWAKEN!"

THE MOMENT MATSUMOTO shigeo first met [y/n] and jin-woo at the airport, he felt his blood freeze.

"pleasure to meet you." he greets, sweating as he stands before them. "we are in a dire situation, so i hope you'll understand that i'll get straight to the point. the giants are currently heading to osaka. please prioritize on defending osaka."

matsumoto had his doubts that the two hunters were actually powerful enough to kill all the giants.

'while they're holding them off, we need to negotiate with other countries.' he thinks with a doubtful look.

a translator translates to the two players what matsumoto said and they narrow their glowing eyes before replying.

"WE REFUSE."

the man was shocked at their answer, utterly confused at to why they refuse to prioritize osaka.

we're they that confident in their strength?

"th-then what do you two plan on doing...?" he asks fearfully, his hands shaking.

they let their actions speak than their words. it proved to be fruitful as he stands in the control room, shocked.

"NAGOYA HAS BEEN RECOVERED!"

"A GIANT'S BODY HAS BEEN FOUND IN NAKATSUGAWA!"

"TAKAYAMA AND NAGANO AS WELL...!"

matsumoto feels his legs go weak and his breath hitches, "how is this possible?"

[y/n] [l/n], sung jin-woo and their summons were defeating the giants scattered throughout japan as they closed in towards tokyo.

he witnessed the power the two hunters held. they were capable of making the impossible happen with the snap of their fingers even if they weren't together.

'goto was right. those eyes when i first saw them at the
airport.' matsumoto thinks, almost falling to his knees.

'I HAVE MET COUNTLESS HUNTERS BUT THEY WERE INCOMPARABLY POWERFUL.'

JIN-WOO HUMS AS he looked at the shadow giants he revived. they stare back at him curiously and respectfully as he was their new king.

the dark haired player seemed to be in deep in his thoughts before he finally speaks up.

"you guys will be number one, two, three, four and five." he says as he points to each one.

beru then lands next to him as he bowed. "my liege, my queen and i have defeated another one."

"[n/n] can name that one since she killed it." he replies with a small smile. then turns look at jin-ho who was setting up camp behind him.

"get ready without me. i'll be right back."

"sure, hyung-nim."

he faces forward and in the distance he sees a trial of blazing fire in the air and he shakes his head with a chuckle.

'guess she's having fun.' he thinks, admiring how excited [y/n] gets when she's using her new sun skill

but his eyes narrows, his mood growing serious. 'it's been easy so far. but it's probably only just getting started.'

the shadow soldiers and the sun knights were spread across japan to help the hunters kill the giants.

because of their plentiful mana, drawn out battles were a guarantee victory for the players.

there was no way for exhausted giants to defeat the shadow soldiers and the sun knights, which regenerate even if they're destroyed.

the biggest problem was more dungeon breaks have occurred all over japan because of the s-rank dungeon break.

lower tier monster were occupying the cities along with the giants, so evacuation and subjugation had to ensue simultaneously.

7TH NIGHT OF the dungeon break....

jin-ho wordlessly follows jin-woo and [y/n] as they walked towards the giant guarding the s-rank gate. 

"this place is in total ruins." he comments as he looked at his surroundings. 

"it sure is." jin-woo replies calmly.

the trio looks over the landscape, jin-ho was right, the place was a disaster.

the sight broke [y/n]'s heart, imagining all the lives that japan has lost because of this dungeon break.

"you've arrived." a voice speaks.

the three turn to face a familiar woman and the female player gives her a smile.

"it's good to see you again hanekawa." she greets with a soft tone.

the women blushes a bit but smiles back. "hello again, miss [l/n]."

"there no other hunters here, correct?" jin-woo asks and she nods.

"yes, there is no one else in tokyo other than me." she replies with a solemn face.

[y/n] furrows her eyebrows with a frown. "and the losses?"

hanekawa sighs and shakes her head, "we don't have a number of losses in tokyo. the giants wandered off to other parts of japan from here."

"the total number of s-rank hunters dispatched is seventeen, including you and miss [l/n]. six japanese, two chinese, three canadian, two indian and one of each from russia and the united kingdom." she informs them with sad tone.

she takes a moment silence before continuing. "among the casualties, there was yuri orloff from russia... hanzawa from the black hole guild and canada's lucas hoyle. most of the giants are moving in packs, which made it more difficult than an a-rank gate's boss. a total of 40 giants appeared, one of which is said to be crossing the sea to china."

jin-woo and [y/n]'s mood turned sour after hearing the list of casualties for s-rank hunters.

if three s-ranks had died that must mean the number of a-ranks that have died is higher.

"most of the giants have been taken care of, the remaining are being taken care by hunter sung's shadows, hunter's [l/n] knights and other hunters." hanekawa finishes with a neutral expression. 

the two players look in the distance, staring at the giant that guards the humongous gate.

"i suppose he's the only one left." jin-woo states.

"he's one big bitch." [y/n] mutters casually and her partner had to hold in his laughter.

the two players notice the view they had of tokyo, it felt familiar.

'it's not burning down but the dilapidated city reminds of the demon castle...' the dark haired player muses.

the [h/c] haired furrows her eyebrows. 'i have no idea what the hell the architect was trying to tell us but if that was a hint to the future. i'm not gonna let that happen.' she thinks as she tightens her fist.

the two players came all the way to japan in search of strength, because they got sick of being thrown around powerlessly.

they're eyes glow as they immediately called their armies back to tokyo.

jin-woo turns to hanekawa. "we got everyone here, so let's begin."

"excuse me?" she questions and raises an eyebrow. "the other hunters haven't arrived yet?"

[y/n] shakes her head with a happy smile. "nope! everyone is here!"

igris and icarus's elite army was first to arrive. the two summons along with iron and scar, bowed to their king and queen from behind them.

second was the combined high orc army that tusk lead, then it was perseus's naga army.

perseus had also joined the highest ranking summons, bowing to their respective lieges. finally, beru and his combined ant army were the last to arrive.

beru flew in and landed right behind his king and queen with a loud boom, surprising jin-ho and hanekawa.

jin-woo looks over his shoulder with a smirk. "oh, you're all here now. good work everyone.

"you did amazing guys! head pats for all of you later!" [y/n] giggles with a sunny smile.

"thank you, my king and queen." beru replies, bowing.

the female player turns to her friend. "jin-ho, keep a distance with hanekawa."

"yes, miss [y/n]." jin-ho answers with a nod and left with hanekawa

once they were a safe distance, the two turned to face foward, their eyes glowing as they summoned their new giant summons.

"REVEAL YOURSELVES."

"COME FORTH."

the male player had 10 giants he made his shadows while the female player had 8. the two felt rather happy from the sight of the massive summons standing in front of the shadow and sun army.

jin-woo then grabbed [y/n]'s waist, pulling her close to his chest. she looks at him with her big doe eyes making him smile a bit.

he tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear. "what did you end up naming your new summons, my queen?" he asks in a soft voice.

stars filled her eyes when he asks, she excitedly pointed to which the ones she named. he listened to every word she said, admiring how joyful she gets over something as simple as naming a new summon.

'i love her so much.'

he kisses her forehead causing her to give him a closed eyed smile and peck on the cheek.

"you ready sunshine?"

"hell yeah! lets kick some monster ass!"

jin-woo chuckles at [y/n]'s enthusiasm as the two face forward as they raised their free arms to the sky.

"our soldiers!" wide smirks appear on their faces as they now pointed to the giant in the distance.

"CHARGE!"
