After hearing Y/N’s story, a spark of inspiration lit up in Taehyung’s mind. Determined, he asked her to meet him at his hotel later that evening, once his workday was over.
“I don’t know, Tae. Are you absolutely sure this is going to work?” Yoongi asked, raising a sceptical brow as he leaned back against the wall.
“Trust me, hyung. It’s foolproof, and she won’t see it coming,” Taehyung replied confidently, flashing his signature mischievous grin.
Yoongi folded his arms. “If you say so. Anyway, where are you off to after this?”
“Ji-eun offered to show me around town,” Yoongi said, attempting nonchalance but failing to hide the slight reddening of his ears. “She mentioned a lake by Flower Valley where we can rent a canoe. She likes fishing, I like fishing, so we’ll just… you know, do that.”
Taehyung’s grin widened knowingly. “Oh, really? Are you sure this isn’t a date, hyung?” he teased, leaning closer for dramatic effect.
Yoongi avoided his gaze, the blush deepening on his cheeks. “It’s not like that,” he muttered defensively before quickly adding, “What about you and Y/N, huh? What’s going on there?”
The smirk instantly vanished from Taehyung’s face, and Yoongi couldn’t help but chuckle, knowing he’d hit the mark. “That’s what I thought,” Yoongi said smugly, grabbing his coat. “Good luck with your little plan. See you later.”
As Yoongi exited the room, he made his way to the elevator and pressed the button. When the doors slid open, Y/N stood there, adjusting the strap of her bag.
“Oh, hey, Yoongi-oppa. Is Taehyung inside?” she asked, her tone bright but tinged with nervousness.
“Yeah, he’s waiting for you,” Yoongi replied, stepping into the elevator. “Good luck.” He offered her a small wave as the doors closed.
Y/N took a deep breath, smoothed her hair, and straightened her sweater before knocking softly on Taehyung’s door. It opened almost instantly, revealing Taehyung’s warm smile.
“Come on in,” he said, stepping aside to let her in.
As she settled on the sofa, he began, “After you told me why you’re afraid of butterflies and said you wanted to overcome it, I had an idea.” He disappeared into the bedroom momentarily and returned, holding something in his hand. Perched on his palm was a strikingly vibrant blue morpho butterfly.
Y/N’s eyes widened as she instinctively shifted on the sofa, leaning away from him. “Taehyung, I told you—I’ve tried this before, and it didn’t help,” she protested, her voice tinged with unease.
“Relax,” Taehyung reassured her with a soft chuckle. “It’s not real. I found it at a toy store.” He held up a small remote as proof.
She inspected the butterfly from a distance, narrowing her eyes. “It looks so life-like…”
“Trust me, it’s harmless. It’s just a toy. Would you like to hold it?”
After a moment’s hesitation, Y/N nodded slowly, tentatively opening her palm. Taehyung gently placed the faux butterfly onto her hand. “It feels… furry,” she remarked, the tension in her voice softening. “But it’s beautiful.”
Taehyung pressed a button on the remote, and the butterfly began to crawl across her hand, its delicate wings fluttering ever so slightly. Y/N let out a surprised giggle at the ticklish sensation.
With another click, the butterfly took flight, gliding gracefully around the room. Y/N’s eyes lit up as she watched it land delicately on a daisy in a small pot by the window. She rushed over to admire it, captivated by its fragile beauty.
When the butterfly took off again, it landed in her blonde hair, its vivid blue wings contrasting beautifully with her golden locks. The sudden flash of a camera made her jump slightly.
“Don’t worry, just act natural,” Taehyung instructed, his tone light.
Y/N smiled and continued playing with the butterfly, her initial wariness all but forgotten.
“I think I’ve taken enough photos. Want to see them?” Taehyung asked, holding up his camera.
She nodded eagerly, leaning over to look at the screen. “Wow…” she breathed, genuinely impressed. The images were stunning, capturing even the smallest details with an almost magical quality.
“Taehyung, I have a confession to make,” he said, his voice suddenly more serious.
Her brow furrowed slightly as she looked up at him. “What is it?”
“That butterfly isn’t a toy. It’s real,” he admitted, watching her reaction carefully.
Y/N’s eyes widened in shock, darting to the butterfly now resting calmly in her palm. She expected to feel a surge of fear, a wave of panic—but instead, she felt… fine. Better, even.
“It’s real?” she repeated, her voice tinged with disbelief.
“Yep,” Taehyung said with a sheepish grin. “I had to lie a little to help you get past your fear.”
She stared at the butterfly, marvelling at how her dread had melted away. “Who would’ve thought…” she murmured.
As night fell, Y/N and Taehyung found themselves settled on the sofa, sharing stories and laughter as hours slipped by.
“We’re back!” Ji-eun’s voice called out as she entered the room, Yoongi following behind her.
Y/N sprang up, rushing over to her friend. “Eunnie, look at this!” she exclaimed, holding out her hand to reveal the butterfly. “See? I got over my fear!” Her smile was radiant, filled with pride.
“That’s amazing, eonnie!” Ji-eun said, her eyes widening. “How did you do it?”
“Taehyung’s plan worked,” Y/N replied, her gaze darting towards him with gratitude.
“What plan?” Ji-eun asked, glancing between the two of them.
“He told me the butterfly was fake—even though it was real,” Y/N explained, beaming. “And when he told me the truth, I realised I wasn’t afraid anymore. Now I know I can do the shoot.”
Ji-eun ruffled her hair affectionately. “I told you, all you needed was to be brave.”
Taehyung watched the scene unfold with a sense of quiet satisfaction. His plan had worked, and more than that, he had helped Y/N take the first step towards overcoming her fears.
