08: Night School (2)

-Night School-
(season one; episode seven)

Everything was shaking around them. The fear they all felt created a new tension in the room that none of them could escape. Each of them had attached themselves to someone without knowing; someone they felt safe with. Without a second thought, everyone had began to run upstairs just as the alpha broke through. They opened the door to the nearest chemistry class and ran inside; shutting the door behind them.

Quiet breathes were shared as growls erupted from the hallway.

"Jackson, how many people can fit in your car?" Scott whispered.

"Five, if someone squeezes on someone's lap."

Allison shook her head. "Five? I barely fit in the back."

"It doesn't matter. We can't get out with either falling from an unreasonable height or causing attention." Joey grasped the jacket around her body tightly.

The werewolf pulled his friends towards the door to the roof.

"That goes to the roof."

"It's also a deadbolt."

Scott cringed at the words. "The janitor has a key."

"You mean his body?" Joey rolled her eyes.

He nodded. "I can get it. I can find him by scent."

Stiles kept his serious expression. "Well, that sounds like an incredibly terrible idea."

"It doesn't matter, I'm getting the key."

The blonde walked towards her old friend with a smile. "We're gonna be okay, Lyds."

Joey could see she was scared. Even Lydia's boyfriend could see it, he just didn't care enough to do anything about it.

The brunette watched as Joey comforted her. He was a little jealous, but, he would never admit that out loud. He wanted her to be happy so... If that meant with Lydia, he was just gonna have to get over it.

"-You can't go out their unarmed." Allison said with a worried voice.

The boy grabbed the nearest looking weapon. Which ended up being a pointer that had a little hand attached.

"Idiot." Joey mumbled.

He sent her a glare as Lydia began to make a plan.

"What are we gonna do throw acid on him?" Stiles asked seeing the girl observe the cabinet.

"Everything is in there to make a self-igniting Molotov cocktail."

Stiles blinked slowly. "Self-igniting—"

"Molotov cocktail." She finished.

"We don't have a key for that either." He said.

Quickly, Joey took her jacket off and wrapped it around her fist tightly. As she thrusted her fist into the glass cabinet, she winced softly.

A few look were shared from Jackson to Stiles.

Stiles mouthed to him, 'That's my girl.'

"Jackson, hand me the Sulfuric acid." Lydia demanded.

He did as told and the girl began mixing.

"You can't go out there." Allison said trembling.

"We can't just do nothing." Scott tried to reason.

She gave him a look of disbelief as Joey shoved Stiles to the corner.

"Do you think Derek's alive? I mean- He couldn't of just died, right?" She asked.

Stiles shook his head. "I don't know. It's gonna be okay. We're gonna get through this."

"I feel like... I'm not doing enough."

"You're doing a lot! Okay? You've helped us so many times. More than I can count." He held the girls hand softly. She nodded in response.

Then, Scott had opened the door and gone out. Hopefully he would make it back.

It was an eery feeling, waiting for Scott. Everyone could feel it. It was hard not to.

"Jackson, you handed me the Sulfuric acid, right? It won't work if it wasn't."

"I handed you what you asked for, didn't I?" He snapped.

"Yeah. I'm sure you did." Lydia said softly.

•.•

The group was still huddled after what seemed like forever. Scott was gonna be okay. That's what they told themselves.

A yell erupted from Jackson suddenly; gaining everyone's attention.

Joey grabbed the sides of her head with a groan. A much more subtle reaction, compared to Jackson.

Allison and Lydia helped the boy up after he had calmed down. He swatted them away quickly.

"I'm fine."

The brunette pointed to the back of neck. "What happened to your neck?" Jackson pushed him away as well.

This night was getting even weirder and it wasn't stopping.

•.•

At this point in the night an argument had started between Jackson and Joey. It was bound to happen.

"Can we stop arguing for half a second?" Stiles asked with a hushed voice.

"She obviously cares about you Jac-"

The blond was interrupted by a click at the door.

"Scott?" Allison yelled; pounding on the door.

Lydia looked out the window quickly. "Stop! Do you hear that?"

Sirens could be heard in the distance. They were quiet but you could hear them.

Everyone quickly piled to the window and saw the police pull in. They were finally safe.

•.•

Sheriff Stilinski walked the trio out of the school. He was glad they were safe, but it was an open investigation now.

"Are you sure it was Derek Hale?"

"Yes, we all saw him." Stiles said shoving Joey slightly.

She nodded stubbornly. "What about the janitor?"

"We're still looking."

Scott waved his hands around. "Did you check under the bleachers?"

"We looked, Scott. There's nothing." The sheriff explained.

"We aren't making this up, Sheriff." Joey added.

"I know, I believe you."

"No, you don't. You have this look, like- you feel bad for us. You wanna believe us, but I know you don't." The werewolf was tired. Everyone was.

Quickly, the sheriff was pulled away. "Stay, all three of you."

"Well, we survived. Like I said we would." Stiles smiled.

"It could have killed us. It just chose not to."

"Thank you for the positivity, Joey. I'll keep that in mind when I look back on this traumatic day."

She rolled her eyes and smiled sweetly. "You are so welcome, Stilinski."

Scott nodded. "She's right. It wants me in it's pack. But, I think, first... I have to get rid of my old pack."

"What do you mean? What old pack?" The brunette asked.

"Allison. Jackson, Lydia. You guys."

"The alpha doesn't want to kill us."

"It wants me to do it." He finished.

Joey slumped in her spot. "I can almost hear the sad music playing."

Stiles shot her a glare.

"That's not even the worst part, Jo."

"How is that not the worst part?" She asked.

"Because when he made me shift... I wanted to do it. I was gonna kill you guys."

Tears flooded the girls eyes. She knew that was the last thing he wanted to do, but, he had no choice. She also knew it killed him to think that way towards his friends. He wanted them safe. And he couldn't be the one to do that anymore.

Scott pulled his friends away suddenly. Dragging them to the ambulance, which held his boss.

"How?"

"How did I get out? Not easily. And from what they tell me, I'm alive because of you. " Deaton said in praise.

The girl arrived at Derek's old place. She wanted to visit, just to make sure he was truly dead. They had gotten closer over the last month. He was helping her understand the new things she could do. He didn't quite know what she was but he was close to figuring it out. He helped her feel safe with it. Now, he was gone.

Her bike was sitting at the bottom of the front porch. She was sitting on the steps. She just had to accept he was gone and get over it. Sadly, she was used to people leaving her. And he promised not to be one of those people. All this sadness was quickly turning to rage.

And it wasn't going to stop until he came back.
