"But you said I could still help out."
"Yes, I did, and I'm sorry that I'm suddenly saying otherwise but," Seokjin sighed because the last thing he meant to do was make one of his students sad. Specially his favorite one. "I don't want to take more of your time and really, we could both get... misunderstood if we are seen together."
Right. Misunderstood. "I understand Mister Kim." Taehyung pulled up the biggest smile he could as he put up a thumbs up. "Just know, I'm always here to help."
"You should head to your next class."
He did as told. Head to his next class. Shoulders slumped, spirit crushed. Because, what was he thinking? Of course Seokjin would never notice Taehyung's love eyes. And even if he did... it was just one of those schoolgirl crushes. His teacher was off limits. But damn, it hurt.
"Hey Tae."
He turns around and scoffs. "No V today?"
"You don't like the nickname, so..." Hoseok slightly smiled as the two began walking together. "How's Jimin?"
Taehyung sighs, scratching his head, in what the other can sense is unsureness. "I guess he's fine. I barely see him, really. I upped my hours during the weekend and we rarely ride together now that my car finally got fixed."
"Do you think he'd want to talk?"
"Talk?" Taehyung turned to the older before he chuckled. "You know how Jimin is."
"Stubborn."
"Yeah... You can still try." The blue haired boy stops and turns to Hoseok. "I'm sorry. For everything."
Hoseok frowns and speaks before Taehyung can continue on apologizing. "Sorry? For what? You never did anything wrong."
"I treated you like shit." Taehyung looks down at the space between their feet. "You never did anything to me, you were always nice, you always looked out for Jimin even after your mistake... And I was still mean."
"And I deserved it." To that, the younger looks up, confused at the pained tone coming from Hoseok. "I disrespected you by making sexual jokes all the time, for questioning your friendship with the guy I cheated on, and I never came clean to Jimin like how I should have. So, you don't get to apologize." The dancer crosses his arms as he looks away embarrassed. "I'm the fuck up."
Taehyung chuckles as he places his hand on Hoseok's shoulder. "We can be Jimin's fuck up friends together then."
The dancer looks up and instantly, his expression changes to that of a sweet one. "Yoongi hyung."
The boy looks up, a slight smile growing on his lips. "Hey."
"I like the new look."
To the compliment, Yoongi can't help but look away. He wasn't one to fall under peer pressure, but Jungkook was right. He had already tried almost every color of the rainbow, all that was left was purple. "Thanks..." He looks up and frowns. "Are you looking for Jimin?"
"Yeah, have you seen him?" Taehyung just watches as the two interact. He wasn't very close to Yoongi enough to ask him anything.
"I haven't seen him but Jungkook told me he was going to study with him." Yoongi takes out his phone, pouting slightly. "I could text him and ask where he is..."
"No worries hyung," Hoseok pays his shoulder slightly before walking past him. "He's usually at the library in one of the private rooms when he studies. I'll see you guys later."
Taehyung gave the purple haired boy an awkward smile. "I dig the hair."
"Thanks..." Yoongi noticed the fallen expression on Taehyung's face. "Everything okay?"
"Uh, yeah, yeah..." Taehyung sighed before he shook his head. "Actually, no."
Yoongi built up the courage and took a deep breath in. He knew he needed more friends, and he was determined to make them. "Want to talk about it?"
"You like coffee?"
Hoseok went inside the library but as soon as he was told by the librarian which private room it was that Jungkook separated, he didn't have much of a plan. He wasn't sure how he'd ask for forgiveness. He lied for so long, didn't ever apologize for his mistakes, and really... Jimin was better off without him as a friend. All Hoseok brought was trouble.
"Mrs Lee, for how long did Jungkook separate the room for?"
"An hour. His time will be up in a few, actually."
Hoseok smiled. "I'll let him know for you."
But what good would it do if he just did nothing. Trying wouldn't hurt.
He knocks on the door of the separate study room, breathing in and out.
See everyone, thought that J-Hope was this coolheaded dude at all times. They saw him as the popular choreographer that was numb to the negative feelings. That he truly could do anything without being bothered. But it was all a facade. That was J-Hope. Not Hoseok.
Jungkook opens the door and smiles. "Hey hyung, come on in."
Hoseok walks in, looking inside to find the boy he once was head over heels for. Yeah, he was a bit annoying telling him all those nerdy facts, and always wanting to stop the car to take pictures and videos for no reason, and don't even get Hoseok started on how difficult it was to deal with Jimin's past and his insecurities. But he still liked him. For the five months that they dated, he liked Park Jimin.
He knew he would never grow to love him though. And that was one of the many reasons they broke up.
Jimin looks up from writing on his notebook and his eyes grow serious. "Hoseok."
"Hey Chim."
Jimin looks back down. "Jungkook."
"Yeah?" The young bunny boy was sort of oblivious of the obvious tension the two would have.
"Didn't know we were inviting cheaters to our study session." He doesn't look up or bat an eye as he just continues taking notes on his notebook.
"I... I didn't invite him." Jungkook looked at Hoseok. "You cheated?"
Hoseok sighed. "I did. Kookie, could you give me and Jimin a minute?"
Jungkook looks at Jimin but the boy isn't even looking up at him. "I'll wait for you outside Jimin hyung."
Just as the door to the study room closed, Hoseok sat down on one of the chairs. "Chim, I just want to talk."
"So talk."
This was one of the things Hoseok broke up with Jimin for. He was always petty and angry when others tried to talk to him. "Will you listen?"
"I can multitask just fine, Hoseok."
"I'm sorry." Hoseok sees as Jimin's writing hand stops but his eyes remain on the paper. "You said I never apologized for my mistakes. I'm doing so right now. I fucked up, drunk or not. I broke your camera as well, and I'm sorry. Heck, I'll pay for it to be fixed, I just... I never wanted it to happen but it did. I hit a new low and of all people, I did it with you—my best friend."
Jimin looks up finally, letting go of his pen and pushing his hair back with both his hands. "What do you want from this? I won't forgive you. Not like this."
Hoseok sighed as he shook his head, looking down at his hands. "Jimin... honestly, I don't know what I want from this. I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry. That's all. I don't expect you to forgive me or be best friends again, I really don't. But... I just had to tell you."
The film major watched as the dancer stood up and started to leave. Part of him wanted to forgive him, take him back as his friend, forget this ever happened. But he could never forget such image. Hoseok wasn't just J-Hope or a choreographer or his ex best friend. Hoseok turned into the dude that broke his trust and went behind his back and cheated on him. And he couldn't forgive that. Not yet at least.
"So... I may like someone that I shouldn't be liking. Or even thinking of in such way."
Yoongi chuckles as they sit down at the university's coffee shop. "Happens all the time."
"I don't think you understand..." Taehyung looks down at his coffee cup. "It's not like, the bad person I shouldn't like because they'll break my heart or my close friend because it'll ruin our friendship."
"A co-worker?" The goth boy rubs his chin, thinking about the matter. "I know it may seem unprofessional, but most corporates actually don't care for that these days."
"No, it's more complicated." Taehyung sighed. Could he tell Yoongi about him liking Seokjin? Wouldn't he go straight to him about it? He looks up at the boy who sips on his coffee, unbothered and very relaxed. "Will you promise you won't go telling anybody? Specially the person I like?"
Yoongi, very childishly but definitely endearingly, raises his pinky to make such promise. "You have my word, and my word is unbreakable."
Taehyung is hesitant, but he crosses his pinky with Yoongi's, sealing it with a stamp through their thumbs. He takes a long sip from his tea before he looks around, making sure no one was too close to hear. "I may have gotten a little attached to Mister Kim."
"Joon? You too? Really?" Yoongi rolled his eyes. "I promise you, he isn't that cool outside of the classroom."
"No, not Kim Namjoon..."
And just like that, without having to clarify who he was talking about, Yoongi's eyes widened and he slowly nodded. "Yeah, Jin makes more sense."
The younger boy shrugged. "I just... We talked and made jokes together when we cleaned the cameras together and I thought—well I was stupid enough to think that I had a shot with him. But today he told me that he didn't want others to get the wrong idea if I helped him any further." He sighs just as he ruffles his hair in frustration. "I just feel really dumb for thinking that he did like me when, not only is he my teacher, he's super straight."
At that, Yoongi laughs. And he doesn't stop. "Y-You're fucking with m-me right?" Taehyung stays quiet, he thinks Yoongi is mocking him when really: "You think Jin is straight?"
"Is he not?"
When the music major finally calms down, he can't help but still chuckle as he speaks. "God Tae, I swear, he's the gayest man you'll meet for a long shot. His confidence should speak enough about that. Don't even get me started on the very flamboyant decor in his apartment."
So then that girlfriend was either actually a boyfriend or one of those, road to self discovery kind of things. But then... "Does that mean I have a chance?"
Yoongi's smile sort of shrinks, from what Taehyung can tell, he isn't gonna tell him what he wants to hear. "I'm gonna be honest with you... Jin may seem kind of cool but he is very strict to himself. Hearing that he had a student help him out with things is probably the most unprofessional thing I've heard him do."
"Yeah... didn't think so." Taehyung sighs as he sits back against his chair and sips from his tea. "I hate this feeling."
"You're not the only one." Yoongi sees the look Taehyung gives him and is quick to clarify things. "There's countless of students that like Jin. Like, baking cookies and leaving notes type of shit."
"But they all like him for his looks." Taehyung smiles to himself as he thinks about Seokjin. "I-I appreciate more. His photography is amazing, the perspective he has for certain things is so insightful, he is caring even if he doesn't show it, he never crosses the lines with jokes, and he is..." He looks up to see Yoongi smirking at him. "I see him for who he is. Not because he is the hot teacher."
Yoongi shrugged after drinking from his cup. "I don't know what to tell you. Last relationship he had was in his last year of college. Ever since then... I haven't heard a single thing about his love life. I don't think he has one to be honest."
The blue haired boy chuckles to himself. "I'm stupid for thinking I had a chance with my damn teacher."
Yoongi's attention is stolen as he looks up and catches Jungkook looking over at him. He waves at the boy, and almost doesn't notice Jimin looking rather bothered. "I get the feeling of thinking you've got a chance with somebody you really don't." He nods his head so Taehyung turns his attention to their friends.
And Taehyung can't help but wonder if Yoongi meant Jungkook or someone else.
