rather sunny day when Elenor stood in the kitchen, preparing dinner for Nina and Erik. It was afternoon and the sun shown through the curtains, brightening up the room.
The woman let the potato pieces she had just chopped, slide into the metal pot that stood on the stove. She carefully shoved the curtain aside, peeking through the window, watching how her daughter played with the animals in the backyard.
A smile crept onto Elenor's face while she eyed the image of her daughter feeding the deer that was standing right besides her.
Suddenly Elenor heard how Erik entered the house, his voice calling out for her.
"I'm in the kitchen", she grabbed the plates and placed them onto the table as Erik entered the kitchen. He approached her, wrapping his arms around Elenor before he planted a kiss on her cheek.
The woman hummed as she leaned her back against his chest, feeling the warmth his body radiated through their cloths.
"You're early", she stated while she turned to face the man. Their eyes met and the woman smiled again as she spotted his smile.
Erik placed a kiss on her forehead before he let his gaze wander around, "Where's Nina?"
"She's outside. Feeding the animals", Elenor answered leading him towards the window.
The two stood still, Erik holding her in his arms as they watched their daughter peacefully.
"How was work?"
"All right", he sighed as he placed his head onto her shoulder. Elenor leand her head against his, her gaze still on their child.
There was a long moment of silence and Elenor couldn't help put let the thoughts of Raven and Charles in. She always assumed that the two would probably have so much fun with Nina. She sometimes reminded her a little bit of them.
"Do you ever miss them?"
Erik's face stayed blank while he questioned, "Who?" The ginger turned to look at him, getting out of his grip, "You know who I mean."
The man let out a sight, shooting her a exhausted look, "Elenor, we agreed to not speak of them."
The woman frowned lightly, "I know."
In that moment their daughter dashed through the door, giggling loudly as Erik greeted her.
The man pulled her up and held her in his arm while the two looked over at Elenor.
"I fed the deers", the little one smiled widely.
Elenor gave her a kiss onto the cheek and and smiled, "That's wonderful, sweetheart but now settle down. Dinner is ready."
The woman sat down on Nina's opposite, watching her eat with a smile on her face. But as she did, Elenor couldn't stop a unwell feeling from spreading in her stomach.
There was just this weird premonition that their life was a little too perfect and happy right now.
There was this voice that constantly told her that this couldn't last a lifetime.
Nearly a week passed by, the days just continuing to be the same. Everything was quiet and peaceful while Elenor took care of Nina and Erik was out working.
Right now, Elenor was in her bedroom, cleaning the room when Nina plopped down onto the bed.
There was silence before the little girl's gaze fell onto the picture that stood on Elenor's night stand, "Mama, who are these people?"
Elenor spun around, following her daughters gaze to the picture of the original X-Men group.
She placed her things aside and sat down besides her daughter, grabbing the picture.
"That are mummy's old friends."
A smile made it's way onto her face, "Look, there is daddy." She pointed onto Erik, who had a rather serious look on his face as he stood between Charles and Hank.
"And you are there", Nina pointed onto Elenor, who stood in the row before Erik, in-between Alex and Raven, smiling.
"Yes, there's me. And there are my friends. Alex, Raven, Sean, oh that's Hank and that's Charles."
There was silence again. "Where are they now?", her daughter questioned.
Elenor sighted before she placed the picture back onto her nightstand, "Well, life lead us down different paths."
She stood up, holding out her hand for Nina to take. The two made their way into Nina's room and she had just tucked her daughter into bed when Erik stormed inside.
Nina had a wide smile on her face as Erik smiled at her weirdly, "Hello, Sweetheart."
Their eyes met and Elenor immediately knew that something wasn't right.
"I'll be right back. I just have to speak to mummy for a second", Erik whispered softly as he smiled forced.
The two adults made their way into their bedroom while Erik's breath slowed down.
"What's going on?", Elenor immediately questioned him as the door closed.
Erik seemed nervous while he stared at her, "Something happened at work. A man, he was nearly killed- and I- I saved his life."
He shook his head while he grabbed a suitcase and open their wardrobe. "It was stupid and I'm certain I exposed us."
Elenor couldn't really believe what was happening at the moment. "Erik, you saved that man. I mean- it's -it's a good thing."
The woman watched Erik walk back and forth between the bed and their wardrobe, packing up their things.
"That's not the point and you know it. If I'm exposed we're all exposed. We have to go", he answered her, worry laying in his voice.
The ginger haired woman grabbed him by his arm, stopping him. Erik looked down, right into her blue eyes, "This is our home. This is our daughters home. Erik, are you completely sure that you were exposed?"
Erik place his hand on either side of her face, his eyes never leaving hers for a second, "We are her home, El. You came back to me after Washington, you forgave and trusted me. I need you to trust me again. We can't stay here anymore."
Elenor held his gaze before she slowly placed her hands on his neck, planting a kiss on his lips.
The two let go of each other, "I'll go get Nina." The woman run over to her child's bed room, immediately searching the room with her eyes, but Nina wasn't there.
"Nina, Sweety?"
There was no answer and Elenor quickly pulled back the curtain as she peeked down into the garden.
"Erik, she's not in her room and I don't see her out in the back yard. She must've sneaked out into the woods to see the deers", the redhead stated as she rejoined Erik.
The man gave her a worried look before he followed Elenor quickly downstairs and out of the house, into the yard.
"Nina!?"
"Nina!?"
There were crows croaking in the woods and the two exchanged a scared look before they ran towards the sounds.
Elenor followed her husband over the small wooden bridge that lead to the forest and the two contiued their way through the many trees.
The two got slower when they suddenly spotted a couple of soliders and their daughter standing by them.
Elenor wanted to use her powers immediately but before she could, Erik held up his hands and signaled for her to stay down.
"Nina. Are you alright?", he questioned his daughter, but one of the men answered for her. "She's fine."
Elenor immediately stepped forward, anger pulsating through her body, "Then let our daughter go!"
"We will. We just wanted to have a word", the one who had his hand placed on Nina's shoulder spoke to them.
Erik had his back towards Elenor while he spoke, "You're not wearing your badges."
"No metal. Some guys from at the factory said they saw something today. Something that didn't add up."
Erik held his hands up in defeat, "Put your weapons away."
"You've been a good citizen, Henryk. A good neighbor, a good worker. I want to believe that's who you are", one of the others said as he eyed Elenor and Erik closely.
"It is true", Elenor spoke up again.
They didn't believe her,"But nobody in this town really knows you."
Erik didn't gave up on trying to convince them, "Yes, you do. I am Henryk Gurzksy. Jakob, I had dinner in your home-"
Jakob eyed him through hateful eyes, "And you lied the whole time. I brought a killer into my home."
The man from before held up a newspaper article, "Is that you?"
Elenor's eyes widened as she recognized a picture of Erik, in his magneto suit, in Washington.
"Are you the one they call Magneto?"
For the first time Erik slowly looked back at Elenor. The woman's eyes teared up, out of worry for her child and she wasn't feeling calm at all when she saw the fear in Erik's eyes.
The two looked at each other for a long moment and Elenor knew what Erik was about to do.
The woman slowly nodded her head at him and Erik looked back at the men. "Take me in. Please- just let my daughter go."
The Solider eyed Erik for a small moment and then let go off Nina.
The brunette girl slowy made her way over to her father, "Go with your mother, Nina."
Erik let them take him in and Elenor slung her arms around Nina as soon as the girl was in her reach.
"Don't leave me!", Nina screamed at her father and started to cry.
"Don't leave me! I'm not going to let them take you." The girl had her arm outstretched as she looked at her father.
Elenor kissed her daughters head as she tried to calm her down, "Nina, everything will be fine, calm down."
Suddenly she noticed a couple of birds flying through the crowns of the trees. "Nina!"
The feeling of worry whelmed up in her stomach again as she saw that more and more birds were joining in.
"What's going on?"
"She's one of them!"
"Tell her to stop!", one of the man demanded as he looked at Erik. "She can't control it! She's scared of you!"
"I'm not going to let them take you!", Nadia screamed again and Elenor kneeled down infront of her.
Suddenly the brids started attacking the men and Elenor positioned herself by her daughter, her hands laying on her daughters arm.
"Nina, I need you to stop. Mama will take care of them", but the girl didn't listened to her.
Elenor started moving her hand and the red mist twirled around her fingers as she slowly straightened up, now standing by her daughter.
She lifted her hands, but before she could move them the woman felt a pain beneath her ribs, in her abandon.
Elenor gasped heavily, catching Erik's attention, who immediately run up to her.
The redhead looked down on herself and saw that there was an arrow sticking out of her stomach.
But as she realized that it had went through Nina's chest as well, pinning her already dead daughter against her, she let out a cry.
"Nina!", she sunk to her knees and Erik caught them, quickly wrapping his arms around the two things he loved most in this world.
"Nina, Nina, no. No, please, please!", Erik pressed them against him and Elenor's gasped as she felt her breath tremble.
"Please." Erik started crying into Elenor's and Nina's hair. "Not my babies. Not my babies!", he whispered as he cried.
Elenor looked up at him and slowly reached up to touch his cheek, catching Erik's attention.
The man gasped when he realized that Elenor was still alive. The tears rushed down his cheeks as he slowly took the necklace he had gifted her a couple years ago from her neck and held it in his hands.
Erik only looked at the metal charm that was dangling back and forth infront of his eyes before he let it fly into the air, killing every single one of the solider in the matter of a second.
Elenor's head fell against Erik's chest as she heard him screaming in agony, "Is that what you want from me?! Is this what I am?! Is this what I am?!"
And with that Elenor's eyes closed. Her mind drifting off into absolutely nothing.
