TSUKASA'S SKILL IN VOLLEYBALL. . .
- - -
JSHK x Haikyuu—!!
- - -
"Kamome Boys' Volleyball Club, huh?" Sakura muttered under her breath as she flipped through the pages of the stack of papers.
"IN NEED OF MANAGER!!!" was written on the front cover, printed in a bold, eye-catching font.
Sakura sighed. Of course Natsuhiko didn't give her this just so Sakura could visit them and check the club out — he wanted her to apply as manager, if the cover wasn't obvious enough. Sakura isn't dumb, she was suspicious of Natsuhiko's intentions since the beginning.
Sakura only knew little of volleyball. The basics: receives, serves, blocks, and spikes. Nothing more, but at least it's something, right?
If they're that desperate for a manager, might as well give them a chance?
"U-Uhm. . ."
Sakura looked up from the stack of papers and noticed a girl a couple inches shorter than her, nervously fiddling with the hem of her skirt.
"My name is Yashiro Nene. . .and I—" Yashiro pointed at the front cover. "Are you also going to apply as manager, senpai?"
Sakura blinked a few times. "Ah, you're going to apply, too?" She smiled when Yashiro vigorously nodded, determination gleaming in her eyes. "That'd be great. I would be grateful if there's another girl. My name is Sakura Nanamine. You can call me Nanamine."
Yashiro grinned and excitedly giggled. "Okay, Nanamine-senpai! You can call me Nene!""
"So, Nene-san. . .how about we apply together?"
What's the worst that can happen anyway?

Sakura regretted everything. Everything's going bad.
As soon as they entered the gym, a ball headed straight to Yashiro (the girl shrieking loudly), but thanks to Sakura's lightning speed reflex, she used her arm and blocked the ball from hitting Yashiro's poor face.
"Please be careful and treat your new managers with respect," Sakura said, making the gym to fall into complete silence. A ball dropped.
"Eh!?"
"We finally have a manager!?"
Someone whistled lowly. "Two managers, too."
"Stupid Amane, you could've caused a concussion! And to our new managers, too. I'll put all the blame on you for murder!"
"Wha—!? How can a ball kill you!?"
Sakura sighed. Oh, jolly. Not even a minute and there was already an attempted murder. Poor Nene — she looks so scared.
"Hey."
Sakura couldn't help but jolt. There was a sudden voice that appeared behind her, his warm breath tickling the back of her neck. She twirled around and was face-to-face with a boy grinning from ear-to-ear, eyes wide and curious.
His figure, despite it being short, loomed over her; as if he's trying to intimidate Sakura, in a way. Though, it's definitely not working — Sakura's looking as unperturbed as ever. Sometimes, you can't help but wonder if Sakura really is a robot.
"Uhm, hi," Sakura said, tone flat.
Ah, where did this devil come from?
Hell, probably.
"Tsukasa!" The redhead boy scolded, glaring at the boy who presumably sneaked behind the two girls when they didn't notice. "My God, you troublesome twins. Stop scaring our new managers! Apologize!"
Sakura recognizes the redhead as also part of the Student Council Club, but he was allowed to also join the Volleyball Club. No one recognizes him when he plays volleyball, it's like he's a completely different person.
"I said I didn't mean to, Akane!" The boy who looked like Tsukasa said. So they're twins? He then turned to the girls, his eyes trained on Yashiro. "I'm sorry," he muttered.
"I-It's fine, Amane-kun!" Yashiro yelped, laughing nervously. He winked at her.
"Ah, Sakura-senpai!" Natsuhiko smiled. "Thanks for coming! I was honestly annoyed of the constant whining Tsukasa did because he wante—" he cut himself off with a grunt when Tsukasa elbowed him.
A few minutes had passed and the ruckus finally died down and everyone introduced themselves (of course, not without unnecessarily showing off). The coach arrived by then and told the team to practice.
Coach Tsuchigomori laughed. "They're all brats, I'll admit. But when it comes to volleyball, they are undoubtedly terrifying. Especially the Yugi twins."
"Tsukasa and Amane?" Sakura asked. "They're first years, right?"
Tsuchigomori nodded. "They're the two that the players most fear. Really, I bet they can beat that powerhouse school if they really tried! They're just too prideful and shows off as much as possible. And now that you two are here. . .it will probably worsen." He glanced at them. "And don't worry, it's fine."
Yashiro sighed in relief, before she turned to the players who were stretching. "I would love to see them play! I never heard much about our Volleyball team."
"You'll be surprised."
Sakura raised a brow at Tsuchigomori's statement. He seems very proud of his team — which means Sakura can probably raise her expectations.
"Let's play!"
The match started.
It wasn't that mind-blowing or anything (at least, so far), the team on both sides actually played very well. There were no easy holes to hit — all the players managed to always get the ball before it touches the ground. The spikes were strong, the blocks were persistent; it was a good game, pretty decent.
That is, until, Tsukasa was up for a serve.
Sakura can feel the atmosphere go tense. The players opposing the younger twin winced. Tsukasa smirked. He threw the ball a bit far away from him, ran a bit, jumped (and my God, was his jump so high), and hit the ball with brute force.
Sakura actually held her breath when Akane barely managed to receive the ball, but because it was strong, the ball returned back to Tsukasa's side of the court.
Natsuhiko (yes, he's there) received the ball and purposefully aimed it over to Amane. The boy grinned and positioned himself, hands raised in the air. Once the ball hit his hands, he gracefully tossed it up to Tsukasa (as if it was nothing), who was already high in the air.
Where did he even come from?
It all happened so fast that Sakura refused to believe her eyes. The players on Akane's side groaned.
"Team B won the match!"
"Did. . .did that just happen? He was almost floating," Sakura uttered out, breathless. She didn't even realize she was biting her lip the whole time in anticipation. She didn't play Volleyball but she knows that what happened back there was definitely not normal.
Tsuchigomori snorted. "You can just say those two are abnormal."
Yashiro squealed. "That was amazing!" Sakura can't deny that.
Tsukasa skipped over to the green-eyed girl, a proud smile plastered on his face. "Hey, Sakura, did you see that?"
Flustered, Sakura could only nod.
Tsukasa grinned cheekily and stared up at her — right, he's smaller than Sakura — with an unreadable look in his eyes. "You know, I can do even better if you cheer for me!"
"Tsukasa, we both know that literally everyone cheers for you and Amane and you wouldn't care," Tsuchigomori chimed in.
Tsukasa huffed. "Well, I would be really happy if Sakura did it, okay?" He then looked up at Sakura expectantly. "You would stay, right?"
He seems so child-like when he acts like this, but earlier during the match, he looked so. . .intense. Is he even the same person? Sakura mentally scolded herself for even underestimating them — which is actually good because their opponents would be caught off guard.
"Ah. . ." Sakura felt her cheeks warm. "Of course."
She found herself looking forward to visit the Club every day after school just to see that again; just to see Tsukasa again.
