CHAPTER EIGHTEEN, mission invisible

Standing by the lockers, Emilia chatted with Chase and Adam while she waited for Bree and Leo to pass Principal Perry on her baggage check. Leo had managed to get pass without his phone, however Bree failed and had to be sent to the back of the line.

All of a sudden, Bree jumped down from the ceiling and appeared between Emilia and Leo as to which the latter screamed in response, along with Emilia who skidded back with Chase holding her steady.

Bree smiled innocently. "Morning, guys." Chase sighed before Leo suggested. "Seriously, can we put a bell on her?" Chase nodded along. "Yeah, you gotta chill on the super agility. Somebody's gonna see you using your bionics."

"No one ever sees me." Bree scoffed. "I mean, you didn't see me swipe your lunch money." She smirked, making Emilia laugh as Chase checked his pockets before narrowing his eyes at his sister. "Oh, you're good."

Principal Perry approached the group, looking towards Bree as she asked. "Hey, you! How'd you get past my checkpoint? I sent you to the back of the line."

Bree nervously smiled. "Uh, that wasn't me."

"Must have been somebody else." Chase stepped in to help his sister, along with Adam who rested his arm on Chase's shoulder. "Yeah, somebody who can't climb ceilings. Saved it."

"You three have an answer for everything, don't you?" Perry questioned, receiving a smirk from Chase as he replied. "I don't like to brag, but the answer to that is yes."

"There's one thing I pride myself on..." Perry started, before Emilia interrupted. "Your incredibly sturdy calves?"

Perry narrowed her eyes at the girl as Bree smiled. "No! My instincts! And my instincts tell me that you three are trouble!"

"Well, I don't like your instincts at all." Adam told the woman. "And you can tell 'em I said that." Emilia shook her head in disbelief before Perry thought out loud. "I can't put my finger on it, but ever since you arrived, strange things have been happening around here. And the only strange thing I'll tolerate is the janitor. I have to, he's my cousin."

"Who are they?" Leo wondered, as multiple men passed by, as to which Principal Perry explained to them. "Air conditioning repairmen. They're here to check on the strange winds that have been blowing around here for months." She walked off, leaving Chase to scowl at the faster sibling. "She's talking about you. You're the mysterious wind!"

Bree scoffed out a breath. "The only mysterious wind around here comes from Adam."

Emilia grimaced, stepping aside before Principal Perry came back. "Just so you know, tonight is Parent/Teacher night. Which means tomorrow is 'you're grounded' day!" She cackled before sighing deeply. "So, good luck!" She laughed while rushing off.

"What the heck is Parent/Teacher night?" The smarter sibling asked, in which Emilia sighed in response before explaining to the three bionic siblings. "It's when teachers tell your parents every bad or good thing you've done."

Leo nodded. "Exactly. Like, forgetting homework, skipping class, staging a protest for better bathroom soap." He continued on for Emilia, only to receive strange looks. "Don't look at me like that. You're all benefiting from my rebellion."

Emilia looked at Chase as they shared an amused smile before looking back as Adam stepped towards Leo. "If Perry tells Davenport about the strange things she's seen, he'll know we're using bionics in school and he'll pull us out for sure."

"Well, then we can't give Principal Perry any hard evidence. No one uses their bionics. That means no heat vision, no super strength, and no super speed." Bree looked at him with her mouth agape as she said. "Well, that's just crazy. I mean, what do you expect me to do, walk?"

"Like a normal person, yeah." Emilia nodded in reply to her question. They turned to Leo who then spoke up. "I myself plan to ace Parent/Teacher night by kissing up to all of my teachers. That way, my mom will let me go to the big concert I've been looking forward to— the RiffRaff Jammy Jam!"

"Ooh! I wanna go to the RiffRaff Jammy Jam!"

Chase danced terribly as he moved towards Leo, while everyone looked at him awkwardly until Leo stopped him. "Not with moves like that." A teacher walked past, making Leo use this as his chance to kiss up to her. He stepped forward before calling out to the woman. "Miss Watkins! Wow, that new haircut is workin'! I thought, you were Angelina Jolie!" The woman smiled before walking into the hall, making Leo smirk. "That should be good for a C+."

After stopping Bree from super speeding to the front of the line, Chase and Adam dragged her out the room, leading for Leo to drag Emilia along to the vending machine. Leo stepped away from the machine with a smile as he held the bag of cookies in his hand. "Are you happy now?" She asked with an amused smile.

"Definitely." Leo chuckled, before Bree's voice interrupted them. "Emilia, Leo, watch out!" They looked at the girl, before facing up to the ceiling just as Bree super speeded towards them and moved them away from the spot as the air vent dropped, leading for Adam to catch it with his super strength and place it on the ground.

Emilia groaned, mostly hearing Leo squirming on the floor as he giggled. "I'm walking toward the light! It's so peaceful!" Chase held his hand out for Emilia to take as he asked with a face filled with concern. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." Emilia sighed in reassurance before looking down at her friend. "You should check on him though." He chuckled before Perry stormed out her office, shocked by the sight as she questioned. "What did you do to my school?!"

Bree helped Leo off the ground as Chase looked at the woman and sarcastically replied. "We're okay. Thanks for asking." Adam pointed to the rubble on the floor as he defended. "It's not our fault. The air conditioner fell from the hole in the ceiling." Principal Perry followed their gaze with furrowed brows before questioning. "Well, if it crashed from the hole up there, what's it doing sitting unbroken right here?"

"Well, it's not because I caught it and put it there." Adam nervously smiled before leaning closer to Bree and sang. "Saved it!" The two girls sent him a look before Perry pointed an accusing finger towards the three bionic siblings while saying. "You did this! You sabotaged my vents!"

"It wasn't us." Bree said, along with Chase who added. "Sure wasn't." Adam pulled on his jacket before chiming in. "Do I look like a 'Sabotusiter' to you?" Principal Perry rolled her eyes before telling them. "You know what? It doesn't matter. I'll just see what happens when I watch the video footage."

"Oh, good, she said it doesn't— wait, the video 'whatage'?" Adam questioned with widened eyes, now realising what she had said. Perry pursed her lips while nodding. "That's right. I had surveillance cameras installed, and I'm gonna find out exactly what happened. And when I do, you're all going down!"

Leo stepped forward, pulling an apple out of his bag while saying. "Perhaps a honeycrisp will change your mind." She took the apple out of his hand, and took a massive bite out of it before putting it back in his hand and walking away. Leo turned to the others in disgust as he asked. "How many rows of teeth does this woman have?!"

After Emilia calmed Chase down, the boy suggested using Davenport's invisibility cloak to sneak into Principal Perry's office to get the video footage and destroy it before she saw it.

They all voted for Leo to do the job, which he eventually took, and put on himself. He looked down at his body that was invisible to the others apart from his head when he smiled. "Hey, guys, check it out! Follow the bouncing Leo!"

They all laughed as the boy bounced away and into the room when Adam called out with a chuckle. "What an airhead." Emilia laughed before giving Adam a high-five. Soon enough, the group hung around on the stairs, with Emilia standing in front of Chase humming to herself when Bree groaned. "What is taking Leo so long?"

"Taking Leo so long to do what?" Donald asked, scaring the teens as they approached them. "To go out and get a job." Chase nervously stammered. "Yeah, kid's gotta leave the nest some time, right?"

Tasha smiled before wondering. "So, where is my stellar student?"

Emilia held out her arms. "What do you mean, I'm right here." She put on an innocent smile that made Tasha chuckle before correcting. "Yes you are. But I was talking about Leo. Where's Leo?"

Her question was answered when Principal Perry pulled Leo out of her office and shouted. "I don't know what you're up to, but I do know one thing, Dooley!" Parents passed by, making her switch her personality and put on a fake smile. "Hello, welcome." Once they were gone, she turned her head to look back at Leo and said. "If I ever find you in my office again, I will break every single—"

Two more parents approached by, making Perry put on another fake smile. "Help yourself to the cheese and crackers." Tasha approached the two with Donald beside her when Leo laughed nervously. "Mom. Mom, this is Principal Perry. Principal Perry, my extremely sympathetic and understanding mother."

"I caught this troublemaker sneaking around in my office." Perry informed the adults, in which Donald let out in response. "Ooh, troublemaker. Troublemaker? Troublemaker?" She nodded in response before Tasha wondered. "Leo, what were you doing sneaking into this nice woman's office?"

"I wasn't sneaking into a nice woman's office, I was sneaking into her office." Leo corrected, making Emilia snicker behind her hand.

"Leo!" Tasha scolded, in which Leo sighed in response. "I'm sorry. I can't tell you why."

"This must be so difficult for you." Donald said before looking back at the others. "You guys know anything about this?"

Emilia frowned, hesitantly shaking her head in response as the others called out replies, that they didn't know what Leo was doing. Tasha pulled Leo away to scold him, before the three of them went off with Perry.

After walking around the school, Principal Perry guided them back to her office, unaware of a certain speedster hiding on the ceiling. Perry sat down on her chair, before grabbing Emilia's file and said. "So, Emilia. Honestly, she's a wonderful student. I mean apart from the sarcastic comments here and there, she gets good grades, and pays attention in class."

Tasha smiled in response, glad to hear positive feedback about the girl. "Now, let's talk about your other three." Perry switched the topic onto Adam, Bree and Chase.

"They're great, aren't they?" Donald asked with a smile until it dropped when Perry answered with a deadpan. "No."

Leo was first to notice Bree on the ceiling above them before speaking up to distract them. But having failed that, he had to put Bree's gum in his mouth for a second before putting it in the bin.

Bree's pin fell out of her hair, catching Tasha and Donald's attention as well, with panic crossing their faces.

Meanwhile, Emilia sat by the stairs with Adam and Chase, humming a song when Adam groaned. "Now, Bree's taking so long. Let's go in and check."

"Adam, I don't think that's—" Emilia went to say before she was pulled towards Perry's office by Chase, running inside the room only to widen their eyes to see the adults were at the desk.

"Bree, what is taking so long—" Adam stopped saying, before stammering out. "I mean, this isn't the men's room."

Principal Perry furrowed her brows. "Why would I be sitting in the men's room? Better yet, why would Emilia?"

"I was looking for the girl's room."

"And because anything else would be unladylike."

The boys were about to leave when Perry stopped them, so Emilia grabbed Chase's hand before pulling him towards the small couch with Adam behind them.

"Just one more connection." Perry uttered, before sighing as she ducked under the desk, making Donald rush towards Adam and pull him over, with Emilia and Chase following. "Quick! Crush that hard drive!" Donald whispered to the eldest sibling, who had to remind him. "But you told us never use bionics in school."

"And yet here we are. So forget what I said and crush it!" Donald seethed, in which Adam got distracted, spotting Bree's pin in his hair. "Aw, that's so pretty! Is that something new you're trying?"

"Just crush it!" Donald seethed to Adam, though Perry was coming up from under her desk already, leading for Bree to use her super-speed to run around before rushing out the room, causing the papers to fly everywhere.

So while Perry was distracted, Adam grabbed the video footage before crushing it with his super strength just before Perry faced them again.

"Talk about getting caught up in your work." The smart sibling nervously smiled, with them all laughing along with him.

"One of you did this!" Perry groaned, grabbing the broken video footage disc. "You, you, you, you, or you!"

"I was standing here the whole time! I didn't see anything!" Donald defended, in which Principal Perry groaned in reply. "Ugh! This is not over!"

"Oh, I think it is. Air conditioning units falling from out it nowhere, illegal backpack searches, recording students without consent— does the school board know about any of this?" Donald questioned, as to which Perry stammered out in response, having no words to say. She smiled before saying. "Like I was saying, let's put this whole thing behind us!"

"Way to lawyer up, Big D." Leo chuckled to his step father after Perry moved back towards her desk, before they all walked out her office.
