tsukishima kept doing things that would only cause him to strain himself. like yanking open the car door or attempting to carry his belongings all by himself.
"dude, would you just let me help y-"
"shut up clover, i don't need your help."
you rolled your eyes at turned around to wave bye to yamaguchi. "thanks so much for driving us here. but do you mind if i ask you to just- uh, help me out for a quick sec?" you said, pointing to tsukishima.
yamaguchi only chuckled. "of course, don't worry about it."
true to his word, yamaguchi stayed behind to carry in some of your luggage as well as to keep you from throwing punches at tsukishima.
"that's the last of your stuff, l/n. call me if you need anything, and i know tsukki can be a handful but please be patient with him. think of him as a grumpy old woman going through menopause okay?" yamaguchi said softly.
"...i'll try." you sighed. "thank you for all your help. really."
yamaguchi left soon after that, and you were left alone with tsukishima.
time to attempt pleasant conversation y/n. keep your cool.
"so uh, pro spies really have it all huh? this house looks haunted from the outside but it's like a mansion in here."
"well we can't have it looking like a mansion on the outside or it'll attract too much attention." he dead panned.
"i was just giving a compliment, no need to-"
"and i was just stating a fact."
you dug your nails into your palm and took a deep breath. "you should get some rest. i'm going to grab some food."
without staying around to hear a response, you left him laying on the couch to find a snack in the kitchen. much to your dismay, the cabinets were all empty and bare, and the fridge only had bottled water.
"hey, tsukishima."
"what now?" he snapped.
the irritation in his tone made you hesitant to speak, but it was important. "what're we eating for dinner? i'll go pick up some takeaway if you want."
"just worry about your own dinner. i'll deal with mine." he responded and turned away from you to lay on his side only to wince in pain since he applied to much pressure to his left shoulder.
"careful-"
"just worry about yourself for god's sake."
you walked over to tsukishima and forced him to sit upright. "i'll stay out of your way if you look after your damn self, you hear me?"
he glared at you long and hard, until he blinked, signifying his loss. "fine."
"good, now take off your shirt."
"excuse me?" he scoffed.
"your shoulder." you stated while pointing. "it's bleeding again because you were careless. you need to redo the dressing."
"it's fine. just leave it."
"tsukishima. i will be even more of a pain in the ass if you don't listen to me right now. shirt. off."
"you know, if anyone were to hear this, it would sound like harassment-"
"yeah and if i don't tend to your shoulder right fucking now, it's gonna be in my conscience forever so hurry the fuck up." you ordered.
"never knew you could be so bold l/n." he smirked.
"i will very boldly punch you if you don't shut up. let me get some more dressing okay?" you left to hunt for the first aid kit to find what was necessary to treat his wound, but the stubborn blond followed after you since you were 'blind and incapable of finding anything.'
"that's rich coming from someone who's blind himself." you mumbled under your breath.
"top shelf, right hand corner." he told you while gesturing to the cabinet. when you turned back around with the first aid kit in hand, tsukishima was struggling to pull his t-shirt off and you stopped in your tracks to laugh at his ridiculous stance.
"wow l/n, could you stare any harder?"
"how did you kno—"
"i'm a spy. a good one at that. i'm supposed to know when i'm being watched." he muttered.
"he says, merely hours after he was shot."
"i'll have you know—"
"wow, getting riled up by a rookie like me? you're losing your touch tsukishima." you laughed.
"...are you going to help me or not?" he sighed.
"that's more like it! look you're finally asking for help. sort of, at least." you beamed and set the box down next to him, and helped him out of his shirt. "was that so hard?"
"as a matter of fact, yes. i'm never asking you for help unless i absolutely need to."
you rolled your eyes while removing the dressing from his shoulder. "you are such a child."
"i don't want to hear that from you." he grunted. "wait, watch it— ow!"
you pressed the cloth which was meant for absorb the blood which even more pressure against his shoulder. "yeah, that's what you get for insulting someone who's helping you for free." you retorted.
"am i supposed to be grateful? i'm letting you stay here in return, you're gaining more than me."
"ok, you know what, do this yourself. i'm not here to babysit your toddler ass." you grumbled and dumped the cloth on the ground.
"wait, l/n-"
"no, suffer." you snapped and stormed off to your room. eventually, though, your guilt took over and you trudged back to tsukishima where he sat on the couch. even if he was an asshole, he was right.
he was offering you a place to stay even if it wasn't exactly his choice, and you certainly had the better end of the bargain here while all you had to do was make sure his wound healed well. and you couldn't even do that without losing your temper.
luckily for you, and most likely because of the pain relievers he'd been taking, he was passed out cold on the couch. "woah, he's so much more pleasant when he's quiet." you chuckled, and rummaged through the first aid kit to find a clean cloth.
quickly and quietly, you finished changing his dressing and turned around to get a duvet for him. you almost went into his room, but figured he wouldn't appreciate you entering there without his permission, even if it was just for a blanket.
sighing, you got your own blanket and covered him with it, and it was only then that you finally felt like you'd done your job. you smiled to yourself and removed tsukishima's glasses, placing them on the table nearby and turned around to leave once again.
this time, however, not only did tsukishima stir awake, he managed to pin you beneath him.
"well isn't this a wonder position to be in." you joked nervously, trying not to move in a way that would hurt his arm. "mind letting me go?"
"oh, it's just you." tsukishima visibly relaxed.
"yeah, now get off." you repeated.
"mhm." he hummed, but the only movement he made was collapsing on top of you, unconscious once again.
you only sighed in agony for the umpteenth time. "well isn't this just wonderful."

anyways here's a writing tip : force yourself to go out in the cold and don't let yourself back indoors until you've written a certain amount of words.
you might think it doesn't work but you should see the speed people type in when they want to prevent their fingers from going numb 🥳🥳
