The sun was up with its rays hitting me directly through the open windows and flying curtains, making my eyes flutter. I whimpered and squirmed as I really didn't want to get up from my comfy bed. Yesterday's sleeplessness made me want to stay in bed all day without going to college. And the mere thought of college was enough to make me even more irritated.

The long hours of boring class, the chaotic canteen that served nothing but unpalatable and insipid food and of course, the students- half of them were popular and powerful because of bullying and the other half seen as trash and getting bullied. The typical college we see in movies and adapted by students, who didn't know the real shit about the world and humanity. 

Among these, me and my friends were intermediates. We didn't meddle with anything. Even though we were freshmen, the second and third years wouldn't come at us because of an encounter me and my friends had with a group of seniors, a month ago. And that fight made them realize that we weren't the ones to mess with and chicken out. 

From downstairs, I could hear the 'clink' sound coming from the kitchen which indicated that Lily was up and preparing breakfast for me and Zinnia. We three lived together in a house, near our college, that my parents bought me. I moved out as soon as I got admission to college seven months before and that was something I longed for. It was seven months ago Lily and Zinnia came into my life, making it more lively and blissful. And I was going to be eternally grateful to them for making me feel this much loved, something I hadn't felt before. 

Without having any second options to choose but to go to college, I dragged myself from bed and dawdled to the bathroom. After my morning routines, I primed myself to go to college by slipping into a black camp shirt and sky blue baggy jeans. I bundled up my natural black curly locks into a messy bun with my favourite black velvet scrunchie. I packed my bag and went downstairs after checking out myself once again in the mirror. 

As I climbed downstairs, my nose was filled with the aroma of Lily's special coffee which was prepared just for me. Both Lily and Zinnia were tea lovers but knowing my perpetual coffee love and addiction, Lily learned to make her special coffee just for me which was now my blood type. Yeah, that was how much she loved me. What can I say, I was a spoiled brat!

Lily was a kind hearted girl who was hella sweet, funny and sensitive. She had this habit of saying sorry for no reason and put others before herself. And that was why she had been heartbroken twice. But still, she was strong enough to gather herself and stand up again and again and was still growing by loving herself every day. When it came to giving advice, be it relationship or friendship or even career advice, no one could surpass her. She was two years older than me and Zinnia as she was sent to school late. And that was why she was a mom-like figure to us, who took care of us just like a mother took care of her children. She involuntarily changed me in many different ways. She moulded me into a better human being. 

"Here's your coffee. And what do you want to eat? Scrambled eggs or toasted bread with nutella?" asked Lily, placing my coffee mug in front of me. 

I knew that deep inside she was wishing me to pick the latter one as it was easy but the evil me chose the former one.

"Do you really need to ask? Of course eggs. You know my appetite, right?" I asked, trying to put up a long face to hide my smirk.

"Yeah yeah. I know." Lily rolled her eyes and turned around to walk to the refrigerator to take eggs.

I was trying to conceal my laughter. I was feeling poor for Lily but still, I loved to mess with her.

"Oh God! My head is throbbing. I feel like knocking my head onto a wall." Zinnia walked into the kitchen, bleating. 

"You did that to yourself, right?" I said before sipping coffee.

Zinnia pulled the chair next to me and sat with one hand holding her head and the tousled hair falling over her sluggish eyes. She had the worst hangovers and she knew it as well but her intake of alcohol contradicted her conscience. 

"Here's the hangover drink. I made it for myself and knew that you would be needing it as much as I," said Lily, taking the drink that was closed with a lid and handing it over to Zinnia.

"Yo, Lily. You are a fucking Goddess! Do you know that, Goddess Lily Mason?" Zinnia asked in the most exaggerating way possible while Lily went back to beating the eggs.

"Yeah, I know," replied Lily with a smile on her face.

"No, you don't," I said, looking down at my coffee.

A moment of silence.

"What?" asked Zinnia in a low voice yet surprised.

She knew how much of an effort I was putting to boost Lily's confidence and self love.

"Why would you say that, Elka?" asked Lily with a calm tone and face while still beating the eggs for me. It was like she knew that I was going to say something off-putting.

"If she knew she was a fucking Goddess then she wouldn't let that jerk of her boyfriend to treat her like this, right?" I replied to Zinnia, completely ignoring Lily.

"I knew you were going to say that, Elka. I expected that," said Lily. 

She was busy making breakfast so she didn't look at me. Or did she refuse to look at me?

"Yeah you expected that from me. But you still can't expect that asshole is going to leave you just like other assholes, right? Have you realized that it's the second time this week he stood you up?" I leaned towards the kitchen counter and asked Lily with my voice a bit high.

Lily didn't say anything but was looking at me with a small smile on her face. 

"Here we go! Girls, we don't want a morning fight, right? Yo, Elka, calm your ass down!" said Zinnia.

"Well, if you can have morning sex then why can't I have a morning fight?" I backfired. 

It was true. Some days we could hear the creaking sound of Zinnia's bed that was so fucking loud along with hers and her partner's moans as if that was the alarm that woke me and Lily up. 

"Girl, you and your fucking mouth," said Zinnia desperately and continued to drink her hangover drink. 

I looked at Lily who was putting the scrambled eggs on a plate and placing it in front of me.

"Eat it, we are going to be late."
