Chapter Sixteen: Prepare For the Second Round! Spiral Treptune!
y/n's pov:
I walked up behind Toko and Nika who were looking down at their ipad. They were talking to Koji in the school gym.
"It's too bad you're up against him in only the second round," Koji said. "Well, I guess you tried."
"Hey! Don't act like he already lost," Nika replied and glared at Koji. I placed my hand on her shoulder and she jumped before turning bright red as I burst out laughing.
"Don't sneak up on me!" Nika laughed. I grinned and looked over her shoulder at Toko's ipad.
"Ooh, you're up against Suoh?" I asked as I looked at the screen. "That'll be fun!"
"Yeah, I guess so," Toko sighed. "But his rain of sword fire, it seems really strong."
"Well then, we'll just have to find a way to defeat it," I declared. "Come on, let's go talk to Fubuki. I bet he can help!"
On the roof...
"Treptune's a stamina type right?" Fubuki asked once we got to the roof. "So that means Suoh will probably go with an attack type so he has the advantage. You're going to have to take the center first before he gets there."
Toko nodded. "That's what I thought. I need some special training. Will you help me?"
Fubuki nodded. They took their spots by the stadium. I sat down on the bench and observed. Forneus and Treptune sped into the stadium.
Forneus quickly got to the center. Treptune tried to push it away but it ended up bursting.
Toko growled. "Come on, let's do it again," he said, picking up Treptune and putting it back together.
"Alright," Fubuki said and they launched into the stadium again.
One hour later...
"Okay, I think we should be done," Fubuki said. Toko wiped the sweat off his forehead.
"Why?" he asked.
"Because, you won't be able to defeat Salamander until you make your launch your own," then he started walking off down the stairs.
I stood up and jogged after him. "Don't you think that was a bit harsh? You're gonna make him think he's not good enough," I said.
Fubuki stopped. "Trust me, that will make him work harder than ever," he said. I nodded.
I jogged back over to Toko. "Come on, let's train some more," I said. Toko nodded.
We ran down to the track. Aiger was training on his machine. "Alright, wanna race?" I asked with a smirk.
"You're on," Toko replied. We shot off down the field over to the other side. "Huh, it's a tie," Toko said.
"I guess it is. Let's go again!" I yelled. We ran off down the other side again but it ended in another tie. "Damn, bruh. You're fast," I laughed.
We ran back and forth until our breathing was ragged and heavy. "Whoa, did you quit the beyclub and join the track team?" Aiger asked and came over to us.
"We're trying to train so Toko can win his match against Suoh," I replied. I put my hands on my knees and panted.
"Training? Hey, let me train you, Toko!" Aiger said and swung an arm over his shoulders.
"Hey, you can't just take away my apprentice!" I yelled and swung my arm over his.
"Apprentice?" Toko laughed. He looked and saw that I was serious. "Oh. Okay, sure. Apprentice."
"Well now he's my apprentice!" Aiger exclaimed and punched his fist in the air. "Wait, what does apprentice mean?"
I sweatdropped. "You serious? Why do I even try," I sighed and slapped my forehead.
"Fine. How about the three of us have a battle royal! Then it will help train Toko and we can settle the score between the two of us," Aiger said.
"Sounds awesome," I said and held out my arms in front of me and opened my hands. When Toko and Aiger did nothing, I sweatdropped yet again and said, "You're supposed to shake them."
"Ohh! Right," Toko and Aiger chorused before taking my hands in theirs and giving them a good shake. We ran over to the nearest stadium and took out our beys.
"Alright, Nika, can you ref?" I asked as I took my spot next to the stadium.
"Sure! This will be a battle royal style bey battle! The last bey spinning wins!" Nika said. "Are you ready? Set!"
"3!"
"2!"
"1!"
"Let it rip!"
Our beys flew into the stadium. Treptune took the center just a second before Achilles. b/n was in counterclockwise mode and was spinning around at the edge of the stadium.
"Achilles! Z Breaker!" Aiger yelled.
Aiger, you're going down. I thought. "Alright, b/n!" I yelled. "Time to show off our new move! Forsaken Shift!"
Just as Achilles swung in for the attack, b/n suddenly switched into clockwise mode and changed directions. Achilles slammed into the wall and burst.
"What the heck?!" Aiger exclaimed. "How did it switch spin directions like that?"
"b/n is a special bey. If it wants, it can take the slightest wisp of air blowing in the opposite spin direction and change in the blink of an eye," I replied. "Well, now that this battle is-"
"Treptune!" Toko yelled. "Spiral Counter!" Treptune came up from the center and hit b/n with such a force that it flew out of the stadium and landed at my feet.
"Well..." I said. "Crap." I bent down and picked up b/n off of the ground. "Good job, Toko! You actually managed to beat me."
"I caught you off guard. If you had been trying to burst-"
"Come on, give yourself some credit! It's my own fault that I wasn't paying attention and you took that to your advantage," I laughed and slapped his back, causing him to fall over.
"Wow, you have really got to stop doing that," Aiger said and the three of us burst out laughing.
