The conversation had gone well, better than well, actually. I can feel the smile on my lips as I begin to descend the stairs. I'd told Denver pretty much everything about myself and learned about him as well. He told me some things that I hadn't expected either. The reason he'd left Boston and how he was involved in a lot of illegal activities when he was younger.

He said he didn't want to involve my mother in all of that because he cared about her. Denver thought it would hurt her a lot less if he just left. He also thought it would make it easier for both her and him to move on. I suppose it did, since my mother ended up sleeping with Seth. I cringe at the thought of them together as I reach the bottom step. I'm still no where near comfortable knowing the two of them had sex together.

The fight is almost over and I'm glad I didn't watch it. Especially if Rhoen was sitting next to Jamie and I, it wouldn't be enjoyable for neither him or I. Luke had gotten us the seating, well, I'm sure that had more to do with Denver than Luke. Still, front row seats is a big deal on a fight night in Vegas. I guess I can see why Jamie was so excited, but still. He was a complete dick about it.

"Amelia?" I turn when I hear Rhoen's deep voice. The moment my eyes land on his form my mouth goes dry. He looks ridiculously handsome. Dark hair and eyes, with a chiseled face. His white dress shirt is tucked into his black slacks, the sleeves rolled up to his elbow. "Amelia?" He says my name again when I don't answer.

"Hey Rhoen." I manage to say after I'd successfully looked him up and down. He smirks and I feel my face flush in embarrassment.

"How are you? Better than the other night, I take it?" My cheeks get even more red at his statement. I'd gotten absolutely wasted with him the other night. We'd also done some things I'm not so proud of. "I'm sorry to bring it up. We don't have to talk about that. I shouldn't have, uh, well, you know."

Ravish me on the bed until we were both breathless?

"It wasn't entirely just you, Rhoen." He may have thrown me down on the bed after kissing me but I'd let him handle me. I may have been drunk, and not had all of my faculties about me, but I didn't hate the way his body had felt on mine. I was completely ashamed of that fact because I had absolutely not hated it at all. I'd actually enjoyed it. Then again, drunk me is a very horny me. So, there's that.

A very horny me and a very dominant male, like Rhoen, would usually make for a good time, but not now that Jamie and I are dating. I think of Rhoen's lips on mine and his hands slowly hitching my dress up as his hips flexed between mine. The fact that I can recall specific details makes me realize I wasn't as drunk as maybe I'd thought I was at that point.

"I noticed your seat was empty and was wondering where you were." His words pull me out of the memory of us together on his hotel bed.

"Yeah, I was actually talking to uh," I fidget uneasily with my hands because I can't remember everything I'd told him.

"Your real dad?" My eyes snap to his because I guess I had shared that fact with him. "You were telling me about the situation you're in the other night." I nod uneasily. "So, I take it Denver is actually your father."

"Uh yeah." I tuck some loose strands of hair behind my ear. "Yeah, he is."

"Are you alright?" He takes a step closer. "You look like you're not feeling too well."

Not with his body this close after remembering certain details from the other night.

"I'm okay. It was uncomfortable at first but after a little bit it was just nice getting to know him." I say honestly.

"I'm happy for you." He gives me a soft smile, making his dimples stand out even more in his cheeks. "You want to follow me back to our seats?" I hesitate because I'm not sure how well that would go over with Jamie if he saw me walk in with Rhoen. "Or we could go for a walk? There's a restaurant right around the corner, heard they've got a really nice bar and grill."

"I don't want you to miss any more of the fight than you already have, Rhoen." He cocks an eyebrow at me. "What? I don't."

"Amelia, I think you already know I'd much rather spend time with you than watch a fight." My eyes widen at his words and I'm not entirely sure how to respond. "I know you're with Jamie and I know how close the two of you are. I don't want to come in between that but I also really like you, Amelia."

"I like you too, Rhoen. Like you said, I'm with Jamie though. The other night..." I shake my head feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Amelia, it's fine. We all have our moments." He looks off to the side like he's debating something when I hear a familiar voice.

"Rhoen Rearick," Denver says, as he comes up behind me, which makes Rhoen look over my shoulder with a tight smile.

"Nice to see you again, Mr. Riley." He puts out his hand and Denver grabs ahold of it, giving it a firm shake. "How've you been?"

"Really good, actually." He looks at me with a wide grin but then cocks his head to the side curiously. "I didn't realize the two of you knew each other. Did you meet through work? Jamie?"

"We actually both flew in on the same flight from Boston." I add. "He was kind enough to help me with my luggage."

"That's nice of you, Rhoen. You're ever the gentleman."

"You know me." He gives a curt laugh, seeming a bit uneasy.

"Which is why you're going to give Luke your business." He taps Rhoen on the shoulder playfully which makes him laugh.

"We're going over negotiations still but we'll see." I think about how Jamie is the one who's working with him and trying to get his business and immediately feel bad.

"How long are you in Vegas for this time around?" Denver asks.

"Not sure," Rhoen tilts his head in thought before continuing with, "I'll probably go back to Boston sooner than I thought."

"That's got to be hard." Denver gives him a sad look. "You've got to miss spending time with the wife and kids. I know how much they mean to you." Wife and kids? I immediately look at Rhoen in disbelief. I eye his left hand and see a ring that hadn't been there before. He's married? Not just married either. He's a father. He's got kids; plural.

I feel my stomach lurch as I say, "excuse me, I'm going to go back to the fight. The two of you have fun catching up."

"Okay." Denver's voice sounds odd, a bit concerned maybe. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." I don't look at either of them before making my way toward the fight entrance. I take a sharp left, going to the exit though. I just need to get out of here. I'd fooled around and entertained a married man. I'd had no idea. Once I'm out side I feel a large hand wrap around my upper arm.

"Amelia, wait." I turn and see Rhoen's large form looking sad. "I'm sorry you had to find out like that but I was going to tell you. If we'd continued to see each other I was going to tell you everything, I swear."

"Tell me what, exactly? That you're married? That you're a father?" I jerk my arm away from him. "What is wrong with you?" His face falls.

"My wife and I are separated, Amelia. We've agreed to see other people." I shake my head in disbelief. "I'm serious, there's nothing between us anymore other than the kids."

"And yet you still wear the ring." I gesture to his hand.

"Yes, I wear the ring in public places. especially when it involves business. I'm here for fun tonight but I'm with business associates that know I'm married. I don't want anyone to know about the separation until the divorce is finalized. I keep my personal life private. As a man in my position, I'm sure you understand why."

I shake my head and blow out a breath saying, "you could've told me you have kids at least."

"So then you could've asked if I'm divorced and we could get into this whole mess? Not before you had the chance to at least get to know me. You know, know the man underneath, before discarding me so easily." He lets out a curt laugh. "You already did that without me even telling you though."

"I did not discard you." He raises his brows at me. "I like you, Rhoen. I actually like you a lot, way more than I should, considering I'm in a relationship." His eyes darken as he looks me over. "But you have kids and a wife, and for Christ's sake I'm with Jamie."

"He's a child, Amelia. He can't handle a woman like you." I shake my head at him and look away. "Maybe as a friend, and maybe in bed, but in other areas you have to know he has not matured enough." I hate it but I also know he's right. All the reasons Jamie wanted to come to Vegas are proof of that. He just wanted to sin it up; drink, gamble, and fuck. He's already started pushing me away, just like he did with all his other girlfriends. Rhoen doesn't know any of that though.

"Is this what you do? Go around sleeping with women a decade younger than yourself?" He looks taken aback. "How many women have you-"

"I haven't had sexual relations in nearly a year." Now it's my turn to be stunned. "Before we decided to separate, my wife and I barely ever had sex. I was never unfaithful, not once. I don't go around seeking out younger women like some cheating prick. You were the first woman I saw that I was even remotely interested in. Amelia, I loved my wife. I loved the family we had created together but it wasn't working. I wasn't even entertaining the thought of being with anyone else until I saw you."

"Why me?"

"Truthfully?" I nod. "I saw you in the airport, waiting for our flight, and couldn't take my eyes off of you. After getting to know you, I realized what a great personality you have. You can hold a conversation about things other than shoes and shopping. You didn't know who I was and were genuinely interested in me. Even knowing I'm a lot older than you, you were still interested." He reaches out and caresses my cheek. "You still are, even after everything I just told you." I look away from him, hating that I'm so easy to read. "Come on. Come have something to eat with me, there's still another hour before the fight's over."

And I know I shouldn't but I nod and say, "yeah, okay but just platonically. As friends and nothing more."

He quirks a brow and smirks before saying, "whatever you say, Amelia. Whatever you say."
