The place was moderately busy. The low buzz of chatter as people respectfully spoke with one another was almost comforting and Jimin could immediately understand why Seokjin chose to stay here even after hours instead of going home at a normal time. The cafe was stunning.
The white walls with golden accents were classy and added just the right amount of elegance to the otherwise casual place. wooden tables were placed tastefully around the wide room and the counter was large with several tasty treats on display.
Jimin watched from the back of the line as Taehyung confidently walked past every other person waiting patiently and smiled at the confused barista standing behind the counter "Sorry sir... Uhm you have to wait like everyone else..." Taehyung, realising it had looked like he had just cut in line quickly clears up the air "Ah, I'm sorry, I'm just looking for my friend, he's the owner, Seokjin?" The barista nods before quickly rushing into the staff room.
Approximately two minutes later, Seokjin walks out from the same door with the same barista as they rush to get back to work. Seokjin smiles upon seeing his friend "Taehyung-ah, it's been a while, how's everything?" He questions, pulling them both off to the side so they are not blocking the other customers.
"Everything has been great, Jimin and I just got some really pretty blue flowers delivered today and they look perfect!" "Wow, I'd better come over and check them out before they're all sold, huh? Speaking of Jimin, is he here with you?" Seokjin asks "Oh, yeah, he's saving our spot in line." Taehyung tells, pointing him out.
Jimin, noticing the eyes on him waves awkwardly "Do we get to cut in line?" Taehyung asks excitedly, Seokjin laughs "No, you've gotta wait like everyone else" he watches as the other frowns "How about a discount then?" The older raises an eyebrow "If you keep this up I'm gonna pay you extra, now go wait in line." "Aww..."
Taehyung trudges back towards his shorter friend and hears a giggle leave his lips "I told you~"
The line moves at a pace that is slower than ever, Taehyung feels uninterrupted exasperation slowly bottle up inside of him and doesn't realize he's shaking his leg until Jimin physically places a hand on him and mutters something like "stop it..." Under his breath.
Finally, finally, they reach the front of the line and it seemed as though the previous baristas shift had either ended or they had gone on a break. Nonetheless, the new barista offers the boys a smile and questions what they would like. "Well for drinks, I know a hot chocolate for him and a black coffee for me." Jimin begins, nodding his head to gesture that 'him' was Taehyung.
"Alright, and will you be eating anything?" They question, eyes dulled almost as if they had switched their person to some sort of automatic mode. "Yes actually, can I have a..." The pink-haired boys hazel eyes quickly trail the menu that is on the wall behind the counter and stop when he sees something that sounds tasty to him "Chocolate mousse cake?" The barista nods.
"And for you, sir?" They ask, turning their attention to the taller "Uhm... How about a mini apple pie? That sounds good." "Okay, that will be £14.34."
They pay and go to sit down. There aren't very many free tables but thankfully one of the booths are completely empty. The silver haired boy and the pinkette take their comfortable seats, looking at the paper they were given, they saw that their number was #1008 and they made sure to keep a keen ear for when it was called out.
Exactly seven minutes later - Taehyung was keeping track on his watch - The number is echoed into the store and Jimin is quick to stand, paper with the said number in hand. Taehyung watches from his seat as Jimin walks up to collect their tray and not so gracefully makes his way back, bumping into a couple people on his adventure.
They wordlessly dig into their food and drinks, the two boys both enjoying the silent company of the other. This is what they both believed to be what was perfect about their dynamic; they had been friends for so long that they could sit in pin drop tranquillity and feel as though they had completely fulfilled their time together.
On the other hand, they could also be the loudest, most chaotic people in the room. They could be giggling amongst themselves or with other people and still positively enjoy it just as much.
That's why they worked so well together. Sometimes for the whole workday, they would not even glance the others way and still have a successful and productive day. Other times the store would be filled with shouting and laughter and playfulness but they were still able to get the job done. They truly were each other's missing pieces - although it was all platonic, unfortunately.
Because Jimin knew they would make the most powerful couple ever.
Sadly, you cannot force yourself to fall in love with someone you only see as your friend. So they stay the bestest of friends; friends who can both simultaneously be the lives of the party, so much so that when they enter the room people cheer. And the introverts who sit in the corner of the room and are only really concerned with the party throwers pets.
"Hey, Jiminie?" Taehyungs the one to break the silence, popping the pretty and peaceful bubble that had surrounded the two. "Yeah?" Jimin responds, pushing soft hair out of his face only to watch it fall back down exactly where it was before. "Well I've been thinking about something for a while and I think it'd be best if I got your advice..." Jimins face has concern written all over it as he urges the other to go on with a nod "So basically, I think my--"
"These seats taken?"
