After the school day ended, Wally, M'gann, and Dick were in the Bioship, which was parked on the roof of the school invisibly, along with Kaldur and Superboy.

Kaldur: Did you find out who he is?

Wally: Yep. Nathan Rollins.

Dick: I looked him up on the way here. 16 years old. Born in Brooklyn. Highest grades in Midtown High, followed closely by Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. His dad, Henry, is a police detective. His mother, Sophia, was a lawyer.

Wally: "Was"?

Dick: She died when Nathan was 10 years old. Murdered during an attempted armed robbery.

Superboy: And? What about him joining the team?

M'gann: I talked to him after PE. He knew something was up about us, or me especially. We talked. I told him he could join if he wanted, and he didn't need to decide right now. Let's just give him time to—

???: Hey.

Everyone turned around and saw Nathan Rollins, in his grey hoodie and jeans and with a backpack over his shoulder, right behind them in the Bioship.

Superboy: Rollins?

Nathan: Yep. I take it you're Superboy.

Superboy: Yeah.

Kaldur: How did you find the ship? It was invisible.

Nathan: M'gann told me that it was on the roof. I figured that someone would've seen it unless they couldn't. I just walked around until I bumped into it.

He then looked at M'gann with a small smile on his face.

Nathan: Is that offer still on the table?

M'gann smiled at Nathan, who smiled back. Kaldur got up from his seat and walked up to Nathan. The Atlantean and the webhead looked at each other before the former smiled as he held out his hand to Nathan.

Kaldur: Welcome to the team, Spider-Man.

Nathan smirked as he took Kaldur's hand and shook it.

Happy Harbor, Rhode Island

On the way back to Mount Justice, Nathan was engaged in conversation with his new teammates in the Bioship.

Nathan: (to Superboy) So you're actually a clone of Superman that Cadmus cooked up?

Superboy: I am.

Nathan: And Robin, Wally, and Kaldur broke you out?

Dick: We knew something was up with Cadmus because Batman himself thought something was up with Cadmus. We broke in, found the psychic genomes they were making and Superboy, and broke out.

Superboy: You got captured first.

Wally: That's because you attacked us the second you got out of that pod.

Superboy: And then I broke you out, so we're even.

Nathan couldn't help but chuckle. He had a feeling he and Superboy might be good friends.

Dick: Can I ask you something, Nathan?

Nathan: Yeah, sure.

Dick: When we looked at footage from your fight with the Lizard, he took your mask off and lowered your hood, but your face was blurred out. That footage was supposed to be completely unaltered, so how'd that happen?

Nathan: Ah. Just a little party trick I cooked up.

He dug into his jeans pocket and took out a small blue device that looked like it would be put behind the ear.

Dick: A hearing aid?

Nathan: That's what it looks like, but it's more than that. I put a little microchip in it. Once it's activated, it sends out a signal to anything with a camera within a four-block radius. Security cameras, ATMs, phones, laptops, you name it. I put it behind my ear every time I suit up. It was programmed to blur out my face from any security footage in real time if my mask ever came off.

Wally: (wide-eyed) Dude. That's actually pretty cool.

Nathan: Well, there's still room for improvement, but for now, it does its job. I also have this.

He raises his left hand, showing the small screen wrapped around his wrist with a leather strap.

Nathan: It's connected to my phone. If I get an alert, I can see it here.

Kaldur: Does anyone else know about you being Spider-Man?

Nathan: A few. Gwen and Peter, because I told them, and they're helping me out with my gear. MJ figured it out. So does my dad. Then there's Captain Yuri Watanabe. My dad was her training officer, and I talked with her a lot growing up.

Wally: Harry doesn't know.

Nathan: No. I would like to tell him, but he can't keep a secret to save his life.

M'gann: Speaking of Gwen, are you and her...

Nathan: (sighs) We used to. We broke up a bit after her dad died. We both figured that anything long-term between us just wasn't in the cards for us. We're still friends, though.

For some reason, M'gann felt relieved.

Suddenly, Red Tornado's voice echoed throughout the ship.

Red Tornado: Red Tornado to Miss Martain. Have you completed your mission?

Nathan looked back and glanced at M'gann, who was piloting the ship. She looked at him and smiled, and he smiled back.

M'gann: Yeah, I'd say we did.

Red Tornado: Good. An emergency alert has been triggered at the Happy Harbor Power Plant. I suggest you investigate covertly. I'm sending coordinates.

A beep was heard.

M'gann: Received. Adjusting course.

Dick: (scoffs) Tornado's keeping us busy again.

Nathan: Remind me again how you guys found Superboy?

Dick kept his mouth shut.

M'gann: We should investigate what caused the alert.

Superboy: I think I know the cause.

They looked out the side and saw a tornado heading straight towards them. The Bioship turned visible again as it got caught in the tornado. Making it spin around.

M'gann managed to regain control over the Bioship and flew out of the tornado before making it hover over the parking lot of the power plant.

The bottom of the ship opened, and everyone jumped out. They saw the tornado causing havoc in the power plant as the nearby civilians ran for their safety.

Kaldur: Robin, are tornadoes common in New England? Robin?

They all turned around and saw that Dick was nowhere to be seen. He was heard laughing, however.

M'gann: He was just here.

Nathan: Does he always do that?

Kaldur: More often than I'd care to admit.

They looked back at the power plant, and they knew that Dick went inside on his own.

Nathan: You guys head for Robin. I'll catch up with you.

Superboy: What are you gonna do?

Nathan: I'll find another way in, see if I can get the drop of whoever's doing all this.

He started running towards the side of the building.

M'gann: Be careful!

Nathan: You too!

Inside the power plant, Dick was tossed into a wall by a large, red-and-black humanoid robot with blue tubes protruding from its back and connecting to its arms before landing back on the ground.

Just then, Superboy, Wally, Kaldur, and M'gann ran into the plant. Superboy jumped and landed next to Dick, who was still on the ground.

Superboy: Who's your new friend?

Dick: Didn't catch his name, but he plays kinda rough.

Superboy ran towards the robot.

Mr. Twister: My apologies. You may address me as Mr. Twister.

He shoots out a pair of tornadoes that slowed Superboy down before shooting another one to toss him into the wall.

M'gann saw this and looked over at Kaldur and Wally, who pulled his goggles out of his pocket and put them over his eyes, as Robin got back up while holding his ribs. M'gann looked up and saw Nathan, in his Spider-Man suit, crawling in through the skylight.

She looked at Wally and nodded. Wally ran at Mr. Twister and lunged feet-first at him, but he was caught and thrown out of the building by the robotic giant.

???: HEY!

Mr. Twister looked up and saw Spider-Man diving at him, ready to punch him. However, Mr. Twister shot a gust of wind that slammed Nathan back onto the roof before falling to the ground.

Kaldur and M'gann ran/flew at Mr. Twister, but he flung them back. Kaldur landed on a pillar, while M'gann hit a rail. Dick saw this and glared at Mr. Twister while holding a device and a birdarang behind his back.

Mr. Twister: I was prepared to be challenged by a superhero. I was not, however, expecting children.

Dick: (growls) We're not children!

He threw both objects at Mr. Twister, who stopped the device before it reached him and exploded while the birdarang stuck into his chest. He was completely unaffected by this, as he took the birdarang and flung it away before it exploded.

Mr. Twister: Objectively, you are. Have you no adult supervision? I find your presence here quite disturbing.

Superboy, M'gann, Kaldur, and Spider-Man recovered and stood next to Dick.

Dick: Well, we hate to see you disturbed. Let's see if you're more turbed once we kick your can.

Using her telekinesis, M'gann opened a container over Mr. Twister's head, and released steam that obstructed his view. Superboy attempted to use this distraction and jumped at Mr. Twister, only for him to get sent into the scaffolding. M'gann tried to fly towards him, but Superboy ended up landing on her.

Spider-Man swung towards Mr. Twister, who shot a tornado at him. However, Spider-Man swung away from it and landed a kick against Mr. Twister's head, which made him stagger back a few steps. Spider-Man shot an electric web at the robot, which had no effect. Mr. Twister shot another tornado, which successfully flung Spider-Man into a pillar.

Kaldur and Dick charged at Mr. Twister at the same time, with the former charging up his blue bioelectricity. However, Mr. Twister summoned two tornadoes that caught the two of them and made them slam into each other.

Spider-Man was slowly getting up and noticed the state of the team. He glared at Mr. Twister angrily, who was preparing to leave.

Mr. Twister: Indeed. That was quite turbing. Thank—

He stopped himself when he saw Spider-Man glaring directly at him. What caught his eye was that Spider-Man's body was sparking with orange electricity, which Spider-Man didn't seem to notice.

Mr. Twister: What's this?

Spider-Man: Bro. Back. The hell...

Mr. Twister stepped towards Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: OFF!

He sprinted towards Mr. Twister, who shot out two tornadoes. Spider-Man expertly weaved past them and jumped at him, throwing back his fist, which was sparking with orange electricity. Once he was close enough, Spider-Man jumped and punched Mr. Twister in the face. The force of his punch combined with the intensity of his newly discovered bioelectricity powers were enough to knock Mr. Twister into the wall.

Completely shocked at his new ability, Spider-Man stared at his hands, which were still sparking with orange electricity. He then looked back at Mr. Twister, who got up and looked at Spider-Man.

Mr. Twister: Impressive show, Spider-Man. It did not, however, save your friends from utter embarrassment.

Spider-Man: Well, stick around, Megatron...

Four metallic arms with sharp blue tips appeared on his back.

Spider-Man: It's about to get even more embarrassing for you.

He charged at the robot, who aimed to shoot another tornado at him. But Spider-Man shot an impact web at Mr. Twister's hands, webbing them together.

Using the combination of his web lines and the metal arms, Spider-Man catapulted himself at Mr. Twister, twirling his body in the process for extra damage. He then slashed at the robot with the metal arms before charging his fist with electricity and punching Mr. Twister in the chest, making him stagger a few steps back.

Mr. Twister ripped his hands apart from the webbing, but Spider-Man slid under his legs and hopped onto his back. He was about to rip the tubes off before Mr. Twister grabbed his head and slammed him into the ground, sending him into the far with a tornado for good measure.

Mr. Twister: You may not be the type of hero I am looking for, Spider-Man. But for what is it worth, you did not disappoint. Thank you.

He hovered off the ground and flew out of the power plant.

Outside, Wally sat up and groaned in pain. Then he saw Mr. Twister fly out of the plant and immediately ran at him. Mr. Twister saw Wally coming and simply weaved out of the way of Wally's attacks.

Wally: What have you done with my team?

Mr. Twister: Embarrassed them, largely.

He sent Wally back towards the building with another tornado. He was about to get slammed into the wall before an unseen force stopped him.

???: I got you, Wally.

Wally looked to his right and saw M'gann, Superboy, Kaldur, Dick, and Spider-Man emerge from the smoke.

Wally: Oh. Thanks.

M'gann lowered her hand and let Wally stand on his own two feet.

Mr. Twister: I would have thought you had all learned your limitations by now.

Kaldur: What do you want?!

Mr. Twister hovered higher off the ground.

Mr. Twister: Isn't it obvious? I'm waiting for a real hero.

Spider-Man: What am I, then? I had you on the ropes two minutes ago!

Mr. Twister: Beginner's luck, I say. You are but a child in a Halloween costume.

Spider-Man narrowed his eyes at the robot.

Kaldur: (to M'gann) Read his mind. Find a weakness.

M'gann: I thought I wasn't supposed to do that.

Dick: It's okay with the bad guys.

M'gann pressed her fingers onto her temple and started scanning Mr. Twister. But...

M'gann: Nothing. I'm getting nothing.

She smacks her hand against her forehead.

M'gann: Hello, Megan. Mr. Twister is Red Tornado in disguise. He's inorganic, an android. And how many androids do you know that can generate tornadoes?

Spider-Man looked between M'gann and Mr. Twister. Despite the fact that she raised a valid point, Nathan felt like this was far from the truth.

Unfortunately, nobody else thought the same.

Kaldur: Red Tornado sent us here.

Dick: After he said we'd be tested soon enough. This is his test, something to keep us busy.

Wally: Speedy call it, we're a joke.

Spider-Man: I don't know about that...

He was ignored as Kaldur slammed his fist into his palm in frustration and marched towards Mr. Twister, followed by Dick and Wally.

Wally: This game, so over.

Once they got closer to Mr. Twister, Wally, Dick, and Kaldur addressed him, believing that he was Red Tornado.

Dick: We know who you are and what you want.

Kaldur: So let's end this.

Mr. Twister: Consider it ended.

He raised his hands and generated a dark hurricane.

Kaldur: An impressive show, but we will not indulge you. We will not engage.

Then Mr. Twister started creating lightning.

Wally: Uh, can Red Tornado do that?

Mr. Twister: You think I'm Tornado? Ironic.

While Nathan stood behind next to M'gann and Superboy, he heard a loud ringing in his head. He knew exactly what it was. It was his Spider-Sense warning him of imminent danger.

Spider-Man: HIT THE DECK!

Reacting quickly, Spider-Man wrapped his arms around M'gann protectively and used his metal arms to shield them both just as Mr. Twister sent a powerful lightning strike at the team, sending them all back.

Superboy was the only one still standing. He ripped off his now-tattered leather jacket and jumped at Mr. Twister. But he hit Superboy with a lightning strike, sending him back to Earth with the rest of the team.

Mr. Twister hovered towards the downed team with his hands sparking with electricity. M'gann sat up and saw this and had to react fast.

Mr. Twister was hovering directly above the head, ready to deliver the final blow. But for some reason, the blow never came.

Mr. Twister: Fine, then. I won't deny you children have power...

Wally and Nathan started groaning in pain, but M'gann covered both their mouths with her hands.

Mr. Twister: But playing hide-and-seek with you would not help me achieve my objectives, so stay concealed. If you confront me again, I will show no mercy.

He flew away. Kaldur got up and walked up to Spider-Man with his hand held out.

Kaldur: (to Spider-Man) I did not know you could generate your own electricity, Nathan.

Spider-Man took Kaldur's hand and let him pull him up to his feet.

Spider-Man: Neither did I.

Wally: What happened?

M'gann: I placed the Bioship between us.

Out of frustration, Superboy punched a rock that was sticking out of the ground before stomping towards M'gann.

Superboy: And that's supposed to make it right? You tricked us into thinking Twister was Red Tornado.

Spider-Man quickly stepped in front of Superboy and placed his hand on his chest.

Spider-Man: She didn't do it on purpose.

Dick: It was a rookie mistake. We shouldn't have listened.

Spider-Man quickly glared at Dick.

Wally: You are pretty inexperienced. Hit the showers. We'll take it from here.

Superboy: Stay out of our way.

He ran off and jumped away. Wally sped after him, and Dick ran after them as M'gann looked down in shame.

M'gann: I was just trying to be part of the team.

Kaldur: To be honest, I'm not sure we really have a team.

He ran off, leaving M'gann and Spider-Man alone.

M'gann: Go ahead, Nathan. Tell me how much I of a mistake I made.

With a heavy sigh, Nathan removed his mask and held it with his hands.

Nathan: When you went into my head, you saw me fighting the Lizard, right?

M'gann looked up at Nathan.

Nathan: It looked like it was in a school hallway?

M'gann: What does that have—

Nathan: (chuckles) Please just answer the question, M'gann.

She sighed and nodded her head.

Nathan: Well...He wasn't just for anyone. He was there...for me. For Nathan Rollins.

M'gann: What? How did he even know you were there?

Nathan: When I was trying to track him in the sewers, there was also an award for anyone who could catch pictures of him. I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. But... I got too cocky at what I can do, and I had to run, leaving my camera behind. He found it and attacked my school.

She simply looked confused. Nathan knelt down on one knee and looked M'gann in the eye.

Nathan: What I'm trying to say is, that we all make mistakes. I made a few of my own when I started out. Other people had to pay for some of those.

M'gann knew that he was talking about George.

Nathan: But mistakes are fine. We're not perfect. Far from it, really.

He puts a hand on M'gann's shoulder.

Nathan: It's what we learn from them that matters.

M'gann couldn't help but smile. Nathan smiled back as he got up and put his mask and hood back on.

Spider-Man: Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go kick some Twister butt.

He ran away and jumped off into the distance.

In the town of Happy Harbor, Mr. Twisters was wreaking havoc, using his tornadoes to toss several boats off the dock and onto the streets as well as destroying buildings while civilians ran for their lives.

Mr. Twister: Certainly this would get the required attention.

???: You got ours.

Mr. Twister looked back and saw Wally running towards him at high speeds.

Wally: Full and undivided.

He jumped up and kicked Mr. Twister in the chest, sending him back a few feet. Mr. Twister aimed his hands at the speedster.

Mr. Twister: Immaterial and insufficient. You are a distraction I can no longer tolerate.

???: AAAAHHHHHH!!!

Mr. Twister looked up and saw Superboy falling towards him with a battle cry. Mr. Twister hovered out of the way just before Superboy could hit him.

???: HEY, METAL CHEEKS!

Mr. Twister couldn't react fast enough. Spider-Man landed directly in front of him and drove his electrically charged fist into the pavement, creating a shockwave that knocked Mr. Twister yards away.

Wally, Superboy, and Spider-Man stood in front of Mr. Twister, who quickly got up and sent a pair of tornadoes at them.

All three of them dodged the tornadoes, but Mr. Twister picked up a boat and threw it directly at Superboy. He then noticed Dick and Kaldur running towards him, so he sent a tornado at them, which they quickly dodged.

Kaldur charged at Mr. Twister, but he was picked up and tossed into a nearby mansion. Wally attempted to run up behind him, but he was launched away. Wally quickly recovered and ran off.

Spider-Man swung around Mr. Twister and came in for a swing kick, but Mr. Twister knocked him away with a powerful gust of wind and threw him into a lamppost.

Dick was evading tornadoes while throwing explosives at Mr. Twister, who simply pushed them away with his elemental abilities. Superboy came at him and threw a punch, but Mr. Twister dodged.

Before he could attack Superboy, Spider-Man swung in and kicked him in the back, knocking him towards Superboy, but he evaded Superboy's punch before shooting another tornado at him and the web-slinger. Spider-Man quickly dodged, but Superboy was picked up and thrown towards the mansion where Kaldur was thrown earlier. While Superboy was still in the air, Mr. Twister picked up a boat from the docks and threw in the same direction where he threw Superboy.

Kaldur managed to get himself out of the rubble he was buried in, but then he looked up and saw Superboy and the boat falling towards him. He quickly jumped out of the way just as Superboy and the boat landed on the mansion, knocking it down.

While Kaldur and Spider-Man were busy fighting Mr. Twister, Wally and Dick were taking cover behind an upturned boat. Wally looked behind him and saw Dick taking out his Robin utility belt and strap it over his shoulder.

Wally: You brought your utility belt?

Dick: "Never leave home without it." First thing Batman taught me.

Wally: (scoffs) Yeah, right after, "Never go to the bathroom with it."

???: 'Listen to me, all of you.'

Everyone grabbed their head in pain as M'gann's voice was heard in their head. Meanwhile, both Kaldur and Spider-Man were thrown next to Superboy, who managed to get up beforehand.

Superboy: What did we tell you?

M'gann: 'I know, and I know I messed up. But now I'm very clear on what we need to do. Please, trust me.'

Spider-Man heard his Spider-Sense going off. He looked up and saw Red Tornado flying towards them.

Spider-Man: About time, Red.

Red Tornado didn't respond as he landed in between Mr. Twister and the team.

Red Tornado: Hit the showers, boys. I was hoping you could handle this. Clearly, you cannot.

Dick: But we've got a plan now.

Red Tornado: The subject is not up for debate.

The team walked away, leaving Red Tornado to face Mr. Twister by himself.

Mr. Twister: I was beginning to believe you'd never show up.

Red Tornado: I'm here now.

He summoned his own tornado and threw it at Mr. Twister, who evaded it and countered it with a tornado of his own. He threw another tornado at Red, but he made it disappear with a wave of his hand.

Red Tornado: We are evenly matched, Twister.

He threw a tornado at his opponent.

Mr. Twister: No, Tornado, we are not.

He punched the ground, releasing a geyser of gas to remove the tornado, before launching a lightning strike at Red Tornado, who managed to dodge it. However, he wasn't able to avoid the explosion of a nearby boat, which knocked him down as Twister quickly hovered over and stood over him.

Mr. Twister: Remain still, android.

He raised his hand, and a bundle of wires came out of his fingers and connected with Red Tornado's head.

Mr. Twister: The reprogramming won't take long.

Suddenly, Red Tornado grabbed the wires, yanked them off his head, and faced Mr. Twister before his head changed into...M'gann's.

M'gann: Longer than you might think.

Mr. Twister: No.

M'gann raised her hand and sent Mr. Twister flying away towards another tornado created by Wally, which changed his direction.

The second he landed, Spider-Man landed on his back and grabbed the tubes that were attached to his back.

Spider-Man: These look important!

With a powerful tug, Spider-Man pulled the tubes clean off. Superboy then ran in and punched Mr. Twister in the chest multiple times, each punch making a hole in his chest. With one final punch, Superboy sent Mr. Twister into the water.

Once he was in the water, Kaldur swam up to him and smacked him with an anchor. His tattoos glowed bright blue as he charged the anchor with electricity and blew Mr. Twister out of the water and back onto land.

M'gann, who was flying in the air, levitated Mr. Twister and ripped both his arms off as Dick threw two birdarangs onto his back, which exploded on impact and forced Twister back into the ground.

Heavily damaged, Mr. Twister managed to get on his knees as the team stood in front of him. Suddenly, his chest opened up, revealing an older man wearing a green-and-white jumpsuit inside.

The man fell out of the robot and onto the ground.

Man: Foul. I call foul.

M'gann levitated a large boulder off the ground.

Spider-Man: M'GANN, DON'T!

Without hesitation, M'gann threw the boulder directly onto the man, crushing him, which shocked the team.

Dick: Don't know how things are done on Mars, but on Earth, we don't execute our captives!

M'gann: You said you'd trust me.

She lifted the boulder off the ground. Instead of blood and guts, there were metallic parts and wires in the small crater the boulder left.

The pilot was an android the entire time.

M'gann: That's why I couldn't read his mind.

Wally knelt down and picked up a robotic eyeball.

Wally: Cool. Souvenir.

Kaldur: We should've had more faith in you.

M'gann smiled softly.

Wally: Yeah, you rocked this mission. Get it? "Rocked." Heh.

Spider-Man: Maybe you should leave the puns to me.

Wally: C'mon, Spidey. It was good.

Spider-Man: No, it wasn't. It was bad, even for my taste.

Dick: (to M'gann) Ignore them. We're just all turbed you're on the team.

M'gann: Thanks. Me too.

Unbeknownst to them, one of the android's eyes was glowing red.

In an undisclosed location, a man who looked the same as the destroyed was looking at the monitor that showed footage that the eye was recording.

???: (laughs) Now, Brom, aren't you relieved I didn't let you wear the armor?

The man, now known as Brom, turned around and saw a pencil-mustached man wearing a lab coat behind him.

Brom: Extremely, Professor. But you're not upset?

Professor: I'm convinced our tracking program was operational, and that the real Tornado was somewhere in the vicinity. Besides, you know science advances in fits and starts. Even failure can be instructive. And I'd say we learned quite a lot today.

Back in the cave of Mount Justice, the team stood with Red Tornado and briefed him about the Mr. Twister incident as the destroyed android lay on a table in front of them.

Kaldur: It was clearly created to sabotage or destroy you.

Red Tornado: Agreed.

M'gann: Is that why you wouldn't help us?

Red Tornado: No. This was your battle. I do not believe it is my role to solve your problems for you. Nor should you solve mine for me.

M'gann: But if you're in danger...

Nathan: She's got a point. If there's only one android that can do what you do, we have to assume that there could be more.

Red Tornado: Consider this matter closed. (turns to Nathan) Welcome to the team, Spider-Man.

He turned around and started walking away.

Wally: Batman, Aquaman, and Flash, they'd have jumped right in to fix things.

Dick: Guess if we're gonna have a babysitter, a heartless machine is exactly what we need.

Nathan: That's kinda harsh, don't you think?

Red Tornado: And inaccurate. I have a heart. Carbon-steel alloy. I also have excellent hearing.

Dick: (chuckles nervously) Right. Sorry. I'll strive to be...more accurate.

Kaldur: And more respectful.

Red Tornado walked off.

Wally: Speedy was so wrong.

Dick: This team thing...

Kaldur: Might just work out.

The three of them left, leaving Nathan, M'gann, and Superboy. Superboy looked at M'gann for a few seconds until...

Superboy: Sorry.
