Chapter Fourteen
(Heritage..." And I'm Tunin' You Out.)
Mars POV
How in the hell did he get in?
I had enchantments put on this place just to keep him out.
I can feel my temper boil.
"Well, it goes vice-versa when you ditch your family." I say, with as much rage as I can muster without shouting. "You never should have come here."
I sat up.
Lola looks at me with confusion, and Korri looks at me with recognition and fear.
"Now," Zeus says. "Who are you?
Korri ignores him, and looks at me again.
"You know very well who she is, Zeus." I say sharply.
Zeus pulls a look of hurt.
Lola grins. "YOU are Zeus? The Greek GOD Zeus?!" she asks in awe, and I kinda wanna slap her for it.
He nods.
Korri rolls her eyes, and drags Lola out of the room.
THANK YOU!!!
"What do you want?" I ask. "You could have talked about it the last two times you stalked me."
I hope my expression shouts:
I JUST WANNA GET THIS OVER WITH AND PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!
"I was wanting to discuss your heritage." He says.
I remember the night before when he said that the reason he ditched me and my family was because he'd turn human, and I wasn't "pure".
I frown. "This is not the time."
"This is as good of a time as any."
"Fine." I say.
"You were... unique, in your ways..." I tune him out.
I don't want to hear his excuses.
I really don't.
"I am apologizing, Ares-"
"NEVER call me that. It's MARS. Not ARES."
"You hate me and you rarely speak to me. I can call you Ares."
"Fine." I said.
"I'll find my way out." He says weakly, and he finally leaves the room.
He'll get a few seconds worth of gumption to talk to me, then he falters, and surrenders.
If he hadn't done what he'd done, I might pity him.
Korri gives Zeus a glare that makes me smile.
She looks at me. "Your name is Ares?"
I nod. "But never call me that."
She nods. "So, why was your dad here?"
"To 'explain my heritage,'" I say roughly.
I'm not lying, but it isn't the truth either.
She wouldn't understand.
But...
"Um, Zeus, and I had an argument a few days before-"
"When you fell out of the sky."
I roll my eyes. "Yes, when I fell out of the sky, I had an argument with him because he would leave me alone, so I was livid. And it got... loud."
"So that's why I heard yelling, you were with him." She says, like I knew this.
I frown. "Wait, you heard it?"
"Oh, I heard it several times. I had assumed that it was thunder." She says.
"Well you were half right." I whisper.
