Return To Mission Creek

i. return to mission creek

——

A 5'1 girl with long, curly blonde hair stared at the high school in front of her. Mission Creek High.

It had been over 2 years since Freya Monroe had been at Mission Creek and now she is starting at a new high school. She was in eighth grade when she moved and now she is a sophomore.

Freya hated Mission Creek Middle School and she will probably hate the high school even more. She's very aware of the Principal at the school because she is the same principal for the middle school. Freya was not a good student and even as she got older, she still isn't. Principal Perry is not fond of Freya at all and had a party when she left.

Freya also celebrated.

Two hands patted Freya's shoulders and the blonde haired girl looked up to find her sister, Juliet. Juliet stood at nice height of 5'7, has gorgeous red hair, fair skin, and red lips. She was feisty, stubborn, confident and overall a badass. Freya has no idea how they are related, they are polar opposites. However, they care for one another and always stick together.

Juliet will end anyone on the spot who hurts Freya.

"Ready?" Juliet grinned and Freya scoffed, folding her arms.

"No, let's go home," Freya turned around, but Juliet stopped her, pulling her back.

"Nope, let's go. It won't be so bad," Juliet assured her, dragging Freya inside the front doors.

Freya groaned as the two sisters entered the front doors. It was decent sized high school with typical lockers, students walking around and chatting with others. There were a set of stairs on the right, a circle bench in the middle of the hallway, and to the left were the doors to the gym.

"Just how I pictured it. Stupid," Freya grumbled.

"Looks lot bigger since I was here," Juliet shrugged, looking around. Juliet was a freshman at this school, so she knows the school.

Freya didn't know anyone in the school. However, she had hoped to find the only one she could tolerate. Leo Dooley.

They were best friends in middle school. Their friendship started when Freya beat up the bullies who shoved Leo in a locker. Then she stole Leo's turkey sandwich and since then they were best friends. When she moved away, they lost contact and it honestly made her sad. She liked Leo.

"I wonder if Leo is here," Freya said as she looked around the school. Juliet went in to the office to get their schedules which left Freya to wander the halls.

Freya frowned at all the students shoving past her and she groaned, "I hate people."

Coming down the stairs, Leo Dooley and his siblings, Adam, Bree, and Chase were chatting and laughing about something.

Freya's head was turned away toward the gym doors and Leo noticed her. His eyes frowned at the sight of the familiar blonde hair girl and he stopped moving.

"Guys," Leo stopped his siblings. "Stop stop."

"What?" Chase asked and looked at what Leo was looking at. Chase got confused and then looked back at Leo, who was deep in thought. "Who's that?"

"I haven't seen her around before," Bree remarked. "But her jeans are super cute!"

"You know her?" Adam questioned Leo.

Freya's head turned toward them and Leo's eyes grew when he saw those familiar blue eyes and tired smile.

"Freya!" Leo beamed, shoving past the bionic teens and approaching Freya.

Freya's eyes found Leo and her eyes lit up at the sight, smiling for the first time since she walked into the school.

"Dooley!" Freya grinned as he stood in front of her. They fist bumped with big smiles, greeting each other.

"You're back!" Leo said, "miss me that much?"

Freya shrugged, putting her hands in her Jean pockets. "I missed Trent shoving you in lockers. That's my motivation to come back."

Leo frowned at her joke. "It hasn't even been a minute and you are already making fun of me."

"Wouldn't be very "Freya" of me if I didn't make fun of you," Freya grinned, patting his shoulder. Behind Leo, Freya saw Adam, Bree, and Chase and gestured to them. "Who are they?"

Leo looked behind him and motioned them to join.

"Oh! Guys!" Leo stood next to Freya, taking her arm and Freya pulled away from his grasp. "This is Freya Monroe. We were best friends in middle school."

"Best friends is a bit of a stretch," Freya shrugged with a small grin.

"Freya, this is Adam, Bree, and Chase. My step siblings," Leo introduced and Freya made a confused face.

"Siblings?" She asked and the bionic teens shared a nervous expression. "I thought you were an only child."

"I was!" Leo quickly replied, "then my mom married a rich billionaire who had three children."

"Ah." Freya nodded. "I remember Tasha dating a rich billionaire. Other than his money, I don't see what she sees."

"We don't either," Bree remarked. "Well, it's nice to meet you Freya. It will be nice to finally have another girl around."

"Wait, you were Leo's best friend?" Adam asked, getting a good look at Freya. "How much money were you being paid? Because you are hot and he is-"

"Okay!" Leo cut him off and Freya chuckled. "We became best friends when she beat up the bullies who were shoving me in a locker. Then afterward she ate my sandwich."

"It was a great sandwich," Freya added. Freya's phone buzzed and it was a text from Juliet. "My sister sent me my schedule. Is anyone's first class AP Biology?"

Chase put his hand up, "mine. I can take you there."

"Cool. Thanks," Freya smiled. "See the rest of you later?"

The other three nodded, before the bell rang and they walked away and Chase and Freya walked together to AP Biology.

"So, what brings you back to Mission Creek?" Chase asked.

"My mom. When we originally moved away, her job took her to the other side of California. She's a real estate agent and was selling some houses, so we had to move there for a couple years until she finished selling the houses. I wasn't sure if we would move back, but the three of us missed Mission Creek."

"Three?" Chase asked.

"My sister." Freya told him. "It's just me, Juliet, and my mom. Don't have a father. Don't really remember much of him. He left when I was super young."

Chase nodded in understanding, "What do you like to do for fun?"

Chase was mostly being polite. He didn't want it to be awkward as they walked to class. This was the longest he had talked to a girl without creeping her out.

Freya knew Chase was just trying keep things from beings awkward, but she appreciated him for being kind enough to ask.

"Sleeping, playing video games, making fun of Leo. Sleeping-"

"You already said that," Chase grinned.

"Had to make it clear," Freya remarked and Chase chuckled, enjoying Freya's company.

He may have just found himself his first real friend. And it's a girl. A really pretty girl.

——

Class ended and Freya walked out with Chase. As much as Freya disliked school, she did excel in science and it was the only subject she would bother listening too. Chase found himself smiling everytime Freya talked about biology and throughly enjoyed having someone to be able to talk about science with and not get made fun off.

"It's so cool to finally have someone to talk about biology with," Chase grinned and Freya shrugged.

"I hate everything else. But for whatever reason, I find science enjoyable," Freya remarked. "Just don't go telling everyone, I gotta keep my reputation."

"What's your next class?" Chase asked and Freya pulled out her schedule, looking at her second class.

"Algebra," Freya groaned. "My least favorite. This class I will fall asleep in."

Chase chuckled, "Mr. Steven's is one of the oldest teachers in the school. He will fall asleep before you do."

Freya let out a laugh and Chase smiled, feeling proud one of his jokes landed.

"His class is just down the hall-"

Chase got interrupted by his phone beeping and his eyes grew as he looked at it. It was a mission alert and he got nervous.

"What's that?" Freya asked and Chase moved back, chuckling nervously.

"It's, uh, Mr. Daven- my dad!" Chase corrected and Freya frowned in confusion. "I'll see you later. I just need to take this!"

Chase rushed off without another word, leaving a very confused Freya alone. Freya watched Chase run off and folded her arms, pressing her lips together.

"Strange," she said.

"What's strange?" Freya turned to find Juliet approaching her.

"Chase rushed off after his phone went off without a good reason," Freya explained.

Juliet frowned, "I ran into Adam and Bree and they did the same thing."

Juliet had met Adam and Bree earlier because the three of them have the same first class. Freya was even more confused by this fact.

"That's weird. They are all siblings. Leo was very quick at answering my questions about them," Freya started to think and shook her head. "It's weird that the three of them would run off like that. Chase seems to like school, I feel like he wouldn't just ditch school like that."

"After school, I'll go find Leo and ask him. He didn't leave," Juliet said. "He stayed behind and went to his next class."

Freya shook her head with a slight chuckle, "something is weird about those three. But I'm gonna go think about it in my next class where I'll be sleeping."

Freya and Juliet went their separate ways to their next class.

——

It was the end of the day and Freya was at her locker, waiting for her sister to come out of her last class. Adam, Bree, and Chase did not come back to school after their weird disappearance and Freya was still suspicious of why.

Leo was descending from the stairs and Freya spotted him, standing up straight.

"Dooley!" She called and Leo gave her a wave as he walked up to her.

"How was your first day?" Leo asked and Freya folded her arms.

"Interesting" she stated and shrugged. "I thought I was going to get to know Adam, Bree, and Chase, but they ran off after their first classes." Leo's eyes grew. "Chase got a weird alarm on his phone and rushed off with no explanation and Juliet told me Adam and Bree did the same thing."

Leo laughed nervously, "that happens a lot. Mr. Davenport calls them out of school for appointments."

Freya frowned, "Mr. Davenport?"

"Our dad!" Leo quickly corrected, "I used to call him that before my mom married him. Not used to calling him dad."

Freya was not buying Leo's terrible lying. She still knows when he is lying.

"Do you know where they went?" Freya asked him.

"Like I said, they had an appointment to go to," Leo informed.

"All of them? At the same time?" Freya questioned, raising her eyebrow and Leo nodded with a grin.

"They schedule their appointments at the same time. Makes it easier," Leo remarked.

"Listen, I don't know what's going on, but I don't like being lied too. We are supposed to be best friends, right?" Freya asked him.

"Yeah, but you-"

"Leo, don't give me that crap," Freya sighed. "If you don't want to tell me, then you don't have to. You obviously don't trust me."

"Freya, I do trust you!" Leo called as Freya began to walk away. "It's just difficult!"

"What'a so difficult?!" Freya asked him and Leo didn't say anything. He just was contemplating on what to tell her.

"I'm sorry! I can't tell you," Leo apologized and Freya shook her head, turning away.

"Then we can't be friends. Bye Leo."

Before Leo could say anything, Freya was out the door and Juliet walked up to Leo with an angry face.

"What did you say to my sister?!"

Leo backed away at Juliet's anger.

"Dont worry, I'll..." Leo sighed. "I'll handle it."

Leo walked out the door and Juliet followed him, concerned for Freya.

"I'll snap those chicken wings you call arms if you hurt my sister!"

——

~The Next Morning~

Freya sat at the dining table, eating her cereal with a frown. She never imagined she would eat fruity pebbles in a bad mood.

Freya's mom, Cassandra, walked in and gave her a bright smile.

"Hi honey," Cassandra greeted, opening the fridge and getting orange juice out. Freya was still munching her cereal with a sour expression. Cassandra noticed her mood and frowned. "What's wrong?"

Freya shook her head, "Leo won't tell me something. I thought we were best friends and he won't tell me something."

"What is it?" Cassandra asked.

"If I knew, I wouldn't have this issue," Freya reasoned and Cassandra sighed, pouring herself a glass of orange juice.

"What happened yesterday?" She asked, sitting at the table.

"Leo's siblings suspiciously ran off after their first class yesterday and Leo won't tell me the truth," Freya explained. "I know he is lying. His voice goes up an octave when he's lying and his voice is already high pitched."

"Maybe he was telling the truth," Cassandra told her. "When you see him today, ask him again and hopefully he will be more calm."

"You remember Leo? We are talking about the same person, right?" Freya asked and Cassandra chuckled.

"Yes. Now, finish up and get to school. Your sister left early because she wanted to work out."

Cassandra left a kiss in Freya's head and walked out the room.

"Don't go beating up Leo!"

"No promises!" Freya called back and rolled her eyes. Freya grabbed her bowl and walked to the sink, placing it down. She walked over to her backpack and threw on her jacket, before walking out the door. She got out her phone and started texting her sister.

Freya approached a stoplight and waited her turn to go. She wasn't paying attention and assumed it was her time to go, bur as she started walking she didn't notice the incoming car that was about to hit her.

"FREYA!"

Freya had no time to react and was pushed to the other side of the street at the speed of light. Freya looked up and saw Bree there, holding her and Freya froze in fear.

"Oh my gosh!"

"You okay?!" Bree asked her as Freya stood straight up and got out of Bree's gasp. Adam and Chase ran over to them, worrying for Freya's safety.

"You should pay attention to where you are going," Adam told her and Freya didn't bother with his comment. She was too freaked out.

"How did-" she paused and gathered her thoughts. "That car was super close and you ran fast enough to save me and bring me all the way over here. That was like the speed of light. How did you do that?"

The three bionic teens shared nervous looks and Bree chuckled, shrugging.

"I do track?"

Adam frowned, "no you don't, you said track is too easy."

"Adam!" Chase scolded him and Freya stood there with folded arms.

"I know something weird is happening. Like yesterday when you disappeared randomly and Leo didn't tell me the truth," Freya told them. "I hate being lied too. And if you all are gonna lie to me, then don't bother being my friend. Thank you for saving me, I appreciate that."

Freya gave Bree a weak smile, before walking away leaving the bionic teens alone.

"Guys," Chase said. "That was close. She almost found out."

"Yeah, you should be more careful Bree," Adam criticized and Bree gave him a look.

"Me?!" She scoffed, "I was saving Freya's life. Besides she's already suspicious. I mean, would it be that bad if she knew?"

"If Mr. Davenport found out, he would freak out. We can't tell her," Chase protested. "Even if she is cool."

"Freya is cool! And Leo's best friend. Leo would be devastated if he lost his best friend again," Bree reasoned. "She's smart, she's gonna figure it out at some point."

"This means we have kill her," Adam sighed. "You two hold her down, I'll do it."

Chase and Bree held him back, stopping Adam.

"No!" They exclaimed.

"No one is killing anyone," Chase told his brother. "If she finds out on her own, then we tell her. But for now, just keep lying."

Bree frowned and groaned, "fine!"

"But killing is still on the table?" Adam mentioned and his siblings glared at him.

"No!"

——

Freya was sitting on the circle bench in the hallway, reading her biology textbook. She had one in AirPod in, listening to Taylor Swift and ignoring the outside world. If she sees any of the Davenport siblings, she will whack them on the head with her textbook.

The bionic teens walked into the school and Chase pointed to Freya

"There she is," Chase walked up to her with his siblings follow. "Freya!"

Freya looked up at Chase and before he could say anything more, she closed her book and whacked him on the head with it.

"Ow!" Chase groaned and Adam and Bree laughed.

"Do it again," Adam grinned and Freya rolled her eyes, walking into the cafeteria.

"Freya!" Bree chased her and Freya ignored her. "Can you listen to us? Dont be mad-"

"Why shouldn't I be mad?" She asked, turning to her and Adam and Chase stood behind Bree. "My own best friend is lying to me and now three people who I thought were cool are too. I hate people lying to me. It happened all the time at my old school. Leave me alone."

Freya walked further into the cafeteria to get some more breakfast.

"Guys," Bree pulled her brothers aside. "We should tell her."

"We can't," Chase said. "She could expose our bionics."

"She might not," Adam chimed in and the three looked at Freya, who had ran into Leo. Leo was trying to explain to Freya, who wasn't having it and stormed off with anger.

Leo stood there with a sad expression as he watched Freya leave.

Chase sighed, running his hands through his hair. "I'll go talk to her. You two talk to Leo."

Chase chased after Freya as Adam and Bree went to comfort Leo.

——

Freya sat outside the school, holding her knees to her chest and softly crying. She wanted to move back to Mission Creek and now she is considering asking her mom to move away again.

It was quite windy outside. Freya didn't care. She wouldn't mind getting blown away at this point.

"Freya?"

Freya sighed, rolling her eyes and standing up when she heard Chase's voice. She walked the other direction, moving away from him.

Chase saw her blonde hair and followed her, "Freya! Wait!"

"Go away!" She said, holding her arms to her chest.

"Please listen to me."

"I'm tired of listening," Freya protested. "Everytime I listen, I get lied to. Once I hear the truth, I'll listen."

"If you come back inside I'll-"

The wind picked up hastily and Freya stumbled against the wind. A folding chair flew off the ground and into the air, heading straight for Freya.

Chase reacted fast and grabbed Freya, holding her close as he used his forcefield to block the chair. Freya shut her eyes as he did this and when she opened them she could see the forcefield still activated. Her eyes grew in shock as Chase put the forcefield away and she pulled away from Chase, staring at him.

"You just- you put up some sort of thing and it blocked the chair," Freya was almost speechless as Chase stood there. "What is going on?! And don't lie to me-

"I'm bionic!" Chase admitted and Freya stood there, with her mouth agape. "So are Adam and Bree. That's how Bree saved you. She has super speed."

Freya was in shock and started to laugh, "so, you three have like superpowers? Is that why you ran off yesterday?"

Chase nodded, "yes. Now, let's go back inside so you aren't at risk."

Chase grabbed her wrist and pulled her inside the school.

Once they were inside, Chase pulled her way from the wandering students.

"Only telling you, because you are Leo's best friend and he is very upset and doesn't want to lose you. But you have to promise not to tell anyone," Chase pleaded her and Freya thought for a moment.

"I won't tell anyone. All I wanted was the truth. So thank you." Freya said and Chase smiled. "I guess I understand now why Leo couldn't tell me. Having superpowers is a big deal."

"It's not really superpowers. It's a chip that gives us bionic abilities" Chase corrected.

Freya frowned, "still technically superpowers. You created a forcefield. That's a superpower."

Chase grinned, rolling his eyes.

"We're sorry we lied. Can you go talk to Leo?" Chase asked and Freya nodded. The two walked over to Leo, who was talking to Adam and Bree.

"Leo," Freya said and Leo stood up when he saw her.

"Freya! Listen you have to know I don't want to lie. I'm so sorry!"

"It's okay," Freya stopped him. "I already know."

Leo's eyes grew, "know what?"

"I know Adam, Bree, and Chase are..." Freya lowered her voice. "Bionic."

Chase stood there with his lips pressed together as Adam, Bree, and Leo gasped in shock.

"You told her?" Bree asked in shock.

Adam sighed, "I guess I have to kill her-"

Freya moved away as Chase, Leo, and Bree stopped him.

"Adam!" Chase scolded. "I told her. Because she would have found out either way and Leo was so upset. I had too. I'll suffer the consequences from Mr. Davenport."

"Just make sure when you do tell him, that it was all you. Not us," Bree added.

"I promised him I won't tell anyone. Not even my sister." Freya told them. "Leo, I'm sorry I got so upset. I understand the situation now."

Leo smiled, "As I said too, I'm sorry as well."

The two hugged.

"So, I'm not killing anyone?" Adam asked.

"No!" His siblings exclaimed and Freya chuckled.

"What abilities do you all have?" Freya asked, making sure to keep her voice down.

"I have super strength, heat vision. Bree has super speed and can do weird voices, and Chase... what do you do again?" Adam asked and Chase rolled his eyes.

"I have super intelligence, molecular kinesis, and a forcefield as you saw." Chase informed her.

"So, you are just really smart?" Freya asked. "Is that meant to be impressive?"

Chase frowned as Adam laughed.

"I like her already!" Adam smiled.

"We are going to be best friends!" Bree beamed and Freya chuckled, smiling at her.

"I wouldn't mind that." Freya told her and Bree giggled happily. "My best friend being bionic? Count me in."

"Excuse me? I'm your best friend," Leo interrupted.

"When you can run as fast as Bree, we will talk," Freya teased, patting his shoulders and Leo frowned.

"After school, we should go to Mr. Davenport and tell him," Chase suggested. "He will freak out."

"Don't be so worried, Chase. He will be calm and collected," Adam assured him.

"You think so?" Chase asked.

Adam chuckled, "no, he's going to be so mad."

——

"You what?!"

Freya flinched as Mr. Davenport yelled at his kids. She was sitting on the couch, listening to their conversation.

"We just told you, Chase told Freya we're bionic," Adam said and Mr. Davenport shook his head in irritation.

"I got that!" He said and Freya awkwardly sat there, fiddling with the hem of her shirt.

"How could you tell her you're bionic? You're supposed to be the responsible one here," Mr. Davenport scolded Chase.

"Technically, she found out when I used my forcefield to save her. I was using it to protect her," Chase explained.

"Mr. Davenport, I used my superspeed to save Freya from getting hit by a car," Bree stepped in. "We only used our bionics to protect her. Like we are supposed to do."

"If you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at Leo for making her suspicious," Adam pointed at Leo, who frowned at him.

"Look, I'm not happy you exposed your bionics to someone," Mr. Davenport began to explain and looked back at Freya, who uncomfortable y all this. "But you were doing it to protect someone. That's your job."

"Not to mention, my best friend." Leo added and then emphasized his phrase to Bree. "My best friend!"

Bree shoved him away.

"Freya," Mr. Davenport said as he walked over to her and she stood up, holding her hands together, tapping her thumb nervously on her other thumb. "You have to understand how crucial it is that their bionics stay hidden from the world. They seem to trust you with their secret and I guess I should trust them to trust you."

"I don't talk to anyone else." Freya shrugged. "I know you're upset, but I promise you I'm not going to say anything. You have my word, Mr. Davenport."

Freya put her hand out for him to shake with a nervous smile. Davenport looked at his kids, who were nodding and smiling and he looked back at the blonde girl.

"You seem like a trustworthy girl and a good friend to Leo," Davenport put his hand out and shook her hand. "So, I won't erase your memory."

"What?!" Freya exclaimed with panic and he laughed.

"I'm kidding," he assured her. "For now."

"So, she's good to see the lab?!" Leo asked as Davenport walked upstairs.

"Don't touch anything!" He called and the five teens cheered.

"You wanna see someone cool!" Leo smiled.

"Yeah!" Freya beamed and the bionic teens and Leo lead her down to the lab.

——

"Woah!" Freya gasped as she walked into the lab. "This is so cool!"

"Wait till you have to live down here for fifteen years and you'll change your mind," Bree patted her shoulder.

"Oh, what's that?" Freya went to touch something on Leo's desk and Chase grabbed her wrist.

"Davenport said not to touch anything." Freya pulled her hand away from him.

"When someone says not to touch something, it makes me want to touch it more," Freya remarked.

"I'm so happy you know!" Leo laughed, "My best friend knows!"

Freya laughed, hugging Leo and she noticed the capsules in the back.

"Oh, what are those?!" She ran up to the capsules.

"Our capsules. We sleep in there," Adam told her.

"Woah!" She smiled.

"You keep saying that until you have to live here your whole life," Bree reminded her.

"This is the best day. My best friends are bionic superhumans. That's so cool!" She giggled and Chase smiled at her joy. He found it endearing.

"Can I become bionic?" She gasped and Adam chuckled, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"That's cute," Adam grinned and she frowned up at him. "You're like 4 feet tall."

"I'm 5'1." She scolded and stomped on his foot, which made him yell in pain and hold his foot.

"Ow!"

Chase, Bree, and Leo laughed at him and Freya grinned, chuckling.

"I already love having you around," Bree put her arm around her and Freya smiled, looking around at the lab and the bionic teens and Leo.

Freya knew her life now will be crazy. But, she's ready for what comes next.

——

Hey!!! Welcome to the rewritten version of my Lab Rats book. It's still a Chase fanfic, but with lots of changes. Like the characters are quite different. I kept a few similarities. So, if you did read the original version, you'll see what I kept and changed.

Freya is the main oc in this book. Juliet at the moment is a side character and will become a main character around Season 3. Her and Adam will have something there. I'm very excited for this book. Before you ask, this is a slow burn relationship. Chase and Freya won't get together immediately. That's not realistic imo. They become best friends and go from there.

I hope you are all excited for this book.

Next chapter is Trucked Out. It starts in the middle of season 2.

Byeeeee!!
