"Wiseman"
REAL LIFE
ZIA knew this was dramatic, I mean come on who runs after a boy who didn't even acknowledge to talk to her about going to Canada. Nonetheless she went after him.
She paced back and forth near the security gates of Terminal 3, her eyes scanning the endless sea of faces. and though he had promised they'd talk before he left, she hadn't heard from him at all. No call, no text, not even a quick "goodbye" before he disappeared into the whirlwind of his filming schedule.
She had seen him leave the morning he was scheduled to fly, his usual grin plastered on his face as he waved goodbye like everything was normal. But it felt wrong. The silence in the days that followed only made it feel worse. She wasn't mad, exactly. Just... confused. She had expected more. A quick note, a message telling her how he was, where he'd be.
So here she was, at the airport. Maybe it was crazy, but she had to see him. To make sure everything was okay, and if nothing else, to make sure he knew she was thinking of him.
She pulled her jacket tighter around her shoulders, feeling the chill of the airport air as she walked towards the gate, eyes darting around for any sign of Walker. The flights were delayed, and the crowd was thinner than usual. Maybe that was a good thing. It made it easier to spot him, to make sure she wasn't just imagining the possibility of a reunion.
She rounded a corner, and there he was.
Walker.
(Pete went to the bathroom trust)
Zia stopped dead in her tracks, her heart skipping a beat. He stood by the window, a duffel bag slung over one shoulder, looking down at his phone. His messy blonde hair was just the way she remembered it wild and free, like he didn't care what anyone thought.
It had been three months since they'd spent a full day together. Three months of late-night texts and sporadic calls in between his filming commitments. And as much as she had tried to push aside the nagging feeling that something was off, the absence of him made her heart ache.
Zia's feet moved on their own, carrying her closer until she stood just a few feet away, her breath catching in her throat.
"Walker," she whispered, almost afraid that if she spoke any louder, he might disappear again.
He turned, his eyes locking with hers. For a moment, there was nothing but the quiet hum of the airport, the low murmur of conversations, the distant sound of planes taking off. His face lit up with surprise, then with that trademark half-smile, the one that made Zia's heart do a double-take every time.
"Zia?" His voice was full of confusion, but it was softer than she had expected. "What are you doing here?"
She didn't know how to answer that question. She wasn't sure what had possessed her to come to the airport in the first place, but now that she was here, she felt the overwhelming need to close the gap between them.
"You didn't say goodbye," she said, the words spilling out before she could stop them. There was a hint of hurt in her voice, even though she didn't mean to let it show. She had spent the last few days wondering why he hadn't called, why it had felt like he'd disappeared without a trace.
His smile faltered for a second, but it quickly returned. "I know, I'm sorry. I should've" He paused, trying to find the right words. "It's been crazy. We're filming in Canada, and the schedule changed last minute. I was running on autopilot, and I didn't even think to-"
She didn't want to hear any of his apologies. She just wanted to feel him close, to remind herself that everything would be okay. Without thinking, Zia took a step forward and reached for his hand, pulling him closer in the process.
"Zia..." His voice was hesitant, but he didn't pull away.
"I missed you, I guess" she said with a laugh. The weight of everything they hadn't said was heavy between them, but there was something undeniable about the way he looked at her.
"Me too," he whispered back, and for a moment, the world seemed to slow down.
Before she could second-guess herself, before she could let the uncertainty creep back in, she leaned forward and kissed him.
(AHHHHH okay sorry or wtv..)
His lips were warm against hers, soft and familiar, as if no time had passed since they last saw each other. It wasn't a passionate kiss, but a quiet one. One that carried all the words neither of them had said, all the feelings they hadn't fully expressed.
When they pulled back, neither of them spoke for a moment. Walker's eyes searched hers, as if trying to understand what had just happened. She didn't have an answer for him not yet but she didn't need to. Not right now.
"I guess I should've said goodbye properly," he said, his smile now genuine, the tension between them easing just a little.
"Yeah," Zia said unamused, her lips curving up into a smile. "But I think this works."
Walker chuckled softly, his fingers brushing against hers as they stood there in the quiet airport, the weight of everything that had been left unsaid slowly fading away.
And for the first time in this past month, with everything going on with her mom, her friends, and walker. Zia felt like everything was going to be okay.
