WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12th 1977
I arrive at the Malfoy Manor to see that the usually dull and hauntingly eerie place is bustling full of people decorating for the wedding tomorrow.
"Is Mistress Evangeline okay?" I hear Dobby's voice and I look down at the house elf who had brought me here from Hogwarts.
"Yes, of course" I nod with a small smile "I've just never seen the house so busy"
"A lot of people here indeed" Dobby chuckles, waving me to follow him.
I follow the elf through the people, until we reach the living room where I see Narcissa stood with Lucius and my parents.
"Angel!" Narcissa grins happily after seeing me, opening out her arms.
"Cissy!" I beam widely, throwing my arms around her neck.
"Nice to see you too, little sister" I hear Lucius grumble.
"Hi, Luci" I grin, giving him a short hug.
He pats my head awkwardly and I roll my eyes at my brother's unwillingness to hug me back like a normal person. I reluctantly turn to my parents who are both staring at me already, my father with a stern frown and my mother with a stone cold expression that gives away nothing.
"Mother, Father" I greet them coldly.
"Dumbledore owled us about the fight you started this morning with that Carrow girl" Father spits out immediately and I know I'm in for it.
"You started a fight with your own house?" Lucius speaks up in surprise "Why would you do that?"
"I thought you and Alecto were friends" Narcissa frowns in confusion, her hand on my shoulder.
"We're not anymore" I shrug.
"You didn't answer your brother's question, Evangeline" Father snaps at me and I tense up, looking at Lucius.
"We have a difference in opinions on certain subjects and she doesn't know when to shut her mouth" I answer as honestly as I can.
Lucius raises a brow but says nothing else, while my parents are only getting started on the matter and I know it.
"I'm disgusted by your behaviour" Father declares before looking at the house elf "Take her to her room, elf"
"Yes, Master" Dobby nods frantically.
I narrow my eyes at my father and Dobby pales, tugging on my hand gently in worry.
"That elf has a name" I state matter of factly.
"I couldn't care any less, child" The man scoffs.
He grabs my bruised face in his hand and squeezed tightly, causing pain to spread throughout my face but I try my hardest to keep a cold emotionless expression on my face.
"I'm only warning you once" He starts in a low threatening tone "If you so much as step one toe out of line and ruin this occasion for your brother, you will regret it immensely"
"Understood?" He adds.
"Understood" I grit out.
He lets go of my face with a disgusted expression and I glance at my mother who is trying to calm him down, rubbing his arm gently with quiet words.
"Mistress Evangeline must follow Dobby" The elf next to me pleads and I nod, following him through the house once again.
We reach my room and I run my fingers along the gold letters on my door that read out 'Evangeline Nyx Malfoy'.
"Can Dobby get anything for Mistress Evangeline? A snack maybe, or a drink" Dobby asks me with a kind smile.
"No, thank you" I smile softly.
He nods and scurries off as I enter my room to find it just as I left it before heading to Hogwarts at the start of term, the only difference being my dress for the wedding hanging up on my closet door and a small box on my bed. I sit down on my bed and lift the note on top of the box, unfolding it.
For my dearest Evangeline,
In the box you will find a little something from the Black family heirlooms for the impending Black-Malfoy wedding in hopes that it won't be the last.
Kind Regards, Walburga Black
"Of course" I chuckle, shaking my head as I pick up the box.
I open the small black jewellery box to reveal a short pearl necklace that is actually quite pretty for being an heirloom which are usually ugly and outdated.
"From Auntie Walburga?" I hear a voice ask and I look up to see Narcissa leaning against my door frame.
"Yeah" I nod with an amused smile "Still on her mission to make me a Black"
"Your father would have a heart attack if you were to wed Regulus" Narcissa giggles.
"Tell me about it. He'd rather I wed Lucius" I state, causing us both to laugh.
"If it wasn't for his rather gruesome disownment, my father would most likely want me to wed Sirius to keep the Black family name" Narcissa rolls her eyes as she pads over and sits down on my bed with me.
"What is with pureblood fathers wanting their daughters to wed their cousins?" I joke with a giggle.
"I'm glad I managed to avoid that. Lucius is much more suitable than Sirius" Narcissa smiles in amusement.
"Not even I could wed Sirius. The boy is unbearable" I scoff, placing the necklace on my side table.
"Don't tell anyone, but I often miss him and his silly jokes" She tells me, a reminiscent smile on her face.
"He hasn't changed much at all. Still making silly jokes" I tell her "Only now, his jokes seem to mostly be at my expense"
"I'm sorry, Angel" She frowns softly.
"Don't be. Sirius is the least of my worries" I scoff.
Narcissa mumbles a spell and points her wand at the door, causing it to close and lock. I raise a brow and she looks at me with a sheepish look.
"I heard from Bella who overheard mother and Auntie Walburga talking about you taking Regulus to visit Andromeda. Is it true? Have you seen my sister?" The older blonde asks me curiously.
"Yes, it's true" I answer, hoping that she won't be mad at me.
"How is she?" Narcissa questions and my brows raise, causing her to smile softly "I'm not upset with you, Evangeline. I wish to know how my sister and her family are. Can you tell me?"
"Of course" I nod, crossing my legs to get comfortable "Andi is doing very well, as is Ted and their daughter Nymphadora"
"Does the Tonks man treat her well?" She queries, laying her head down on my lap.
"Oh, he treats her very well. I've never seen anyone love somebody the way that Edward loves Andromeda" I smile happily, running my fingers through Narcissa's blonde curls "He cuts up fruits for her everyday because he knows she loves it. He makes her camomile tea when she's feeling stressed or is unable to sleep. He adores her and practically worships the ground that she walks on"
"Tell me about their daughter" Narcissa pleads, looking up at me through hopeful eyes.
"Nymphadora? She's a little ray of sunshine" I tell the woman, my smile widening to a grin at the memories of my goddaughter "Her new favourite thing is to hide around corners and jump out to spook people which is funny to watch but not so funny to be a victim of"
"She sounds like a handful" The older blonde grins in amusement.
"Oh, yes. She is definitely a handful. Ted and Andi are saints, and so patient with her. I've never seen more loving and supportive parents in my life" I explain.
"I'm glad she got out of this life. Andromeda was always different to the rest of us, she was meant for better things. She deserves all the happiness in the world" Narcissa speaks with a loving tone, her eyes glossing over.
"You deserve happiness too, Cissy" I counter.
"You think?" She smiles weakly.
"I know" I smile warmly.
