Chapter 6: The Yuigahama Case

It was the next morning and Y/N was walking towards the school. It has been about a week since they had the talk with his cousin, Saki. While the others in the Service Club weren't aware that Saki was his cousin, the two preferred to keep it that way.

As he walked to school, he noticed the familiar orange haired girl waiting by the crosswalk up ahead. She had a leash in her hand, with a dog right next to her.

Since last week, Yuigahama hadn't been going to the club. Not that Y/N could care, it did matter to Yukino as she was the president of the club.

He didn't think it was his business so he carried on with his day.

Timeskip-Hallways

Y/N was walking away from his locker, heading to the classroom. He noticed that Hachiman and Yui were together, but only exchanged a few words.

Odd is what Y/N thought. Yuigahama is usually bright and bubbly in the morning, but she had a look of sadness on her face. Especially when she looked to Hachiman. It was puzzling indeed. Y/N thought whether he should consult Yukino about it.

Y/N: (thoughts) Eh? When did I start worrying about people other than my family? What's wrong with me?

Shaking his head, he sighs and heads off, carrying on with his day.

Timeskip-End of the day

It was the end of the day and the two boys sat in the Service Club room. Each one of them doing their own thing.

Yukino's chair was slowly inching closer to Y/N each day. She was reading the same book she had always been reading, same with Hikigaya. Y/N was scrolling through his phone, going through social media, but was getting bored already. He soon rests his arm on the table in front of him, putting his read on the propped up hand to support his head.

It was silent for the most part. Until Yukinoshita broke it.

Yukino: Did any of you do something to Yuigahama-san?

Hachiman: Nope. Nothing.

Y/N: Why are you asking me? I rarely associate with anyone. Not unless it's doing something for this club.

Hachiman: You've been hanging out with Kawasaki this past week.

Yukino: (slightly irritated) Oh? Is that so?

Y/N: (sigh) Looks like the cat's out of the bag. Well, people were bound to find out. Saki's my cousin.

Yukino: ...The first I'm hearing this.

Y/N: Kaa-san wasn't rich. I don't know how Hirmada won her heart, but mom married him. Mom's sister is Saki's mom, therefore making us cousins.

Hachiman: Hmm.

Yukinoshita sighs in relief, confusing the L/N boy, but he had a hunch of what it was. He thinks it may be connected to why he's been thinking of her lately.

Yukino then returns her attention back to Hachiman, questioning him about Yuigahama.

Yukino: I doubt that Yuigahama-san would stop coming unless something happened between you two. Did you two have a fight?

Hachiman: No, we didn't. At least, I think. (closes book) Besides, only people who are somewhat close can have fights. It's less of a fight and more of a...

Yukino: An argument?

Hachiman: Not quite. You're warm, though.

Y/N: Then a war?

Yukino: I was thinking the same thing.

Hachiman: (hitting book on shoulder) No, you're both getting colder.

Yukino and Y/N: Then total war.

Hachiman: Sorry, were you guys listening? Colder.

Yukino: A difference of opinions?

Hachiman: Something like that.

Yukino: I see. Then there isn't much else to say.

Hiratsuka: (walking in) Oh, so Yuigahama didn't come today either?

Yukino: Sensei, knock, please.

Hiratsuka: (sigh) I was expecting great things out of her too.

She sat down at the table, right next to Hikigaya.

Hachiman: Hey, sensei. Didn't you come here to do something?

Hiratsuka: Oh, that's right, Hikigaya. About the contest--let's go with a battle royale.

Y/N: ...Huh?

Hachiman: Isn't it already a battle royale with the three of us here?

Hiratsuka: Recruit more members if you have to. It doesn't look like Yuigahama's coming back, after all.

Y/N: How can you be so sure?

Yukino: Yes, Yuigahama-san hasn't quit the club--

Hiratsuka: When did you two start working together? It almost seems like you were perfect together. Anyway, if she isn't coming, she may as well have. We only waste time with unmotivated students in compulsory education. If you have not the will, you can naught but leave.

Hachiman: Um...I'm not motivated, and I don't have the will to be here. Can I leave?

Y/N: (raises hand as well) May I as well?

Hiratsuka only cracks her knuckles, causing Hikigaya to back down. Y/N was actually scared for once in his life as Yukino had given him one of the most terrifying death glares that sent chills throughout his body. Y/N backed down as well as the only one who could make him back down like that was none other than his sister.

The only time his sister was that scary was whether him or his brother did something wrong. Mostly housework.

Hachiman: Y-Yeah, thought so.

Y/N: (thoughts) ...Dammit.

Hiratsuka: (stands up from seat) In any case, thanks to Yuigahama, now we know that you guys are more active when you've got more members.

Y/N: Really? The only person Yuigahama brought was Saika. The rest came to you for help and you pointed them in our direction.

Hiratsuka: (ignoring Y/N) This is a good opportunity!

Y/N: And she's ignoring me. Great.

Hiratsuka: Get at least one more member by next Monday. Find someone with the motivation and the will to replenish your human resources. If you're so inclined, (opens sliding door) you can start now.

The exit out the door with their belongings, with Hachiman complaining.

Hachiman: This is tyranny.

Hiratsuka: Rude much? I'm trying to be nice here.

Y/N: (mutters) When were you nice?

Hiratsuka: Did you say something? (cracks knuckles)

Y/N: (sigh) Nothing.

Yukino: Hiratsuka-sensei, just so we're on the same page, we simply need to replenish our human resources, correct?

Hiratsuka: Precisely, Yukinoshita. I wish you luck.

Hachiman: Replenish human resources?

Y/N: She makes it sounds like we should have slaves to do our dirty work.

Yukino: Is that what you're suggesting we do?

Y/N: No. Why? Besides, that's unethical. And illegal.

Hachiman: How're we supposed to do that?

Yukino: I have someone in mind who might join.

Hachiman: Who? Totsuka? Totsuka, huh? Totsuka, right?

Yukino: (sigh) Yuigahama-san.

Hachiman: Wait, but she's quitting, right?

Y/N: She clearly stated that we just need to increase the members. She didn't say anything about re-recruiting someone who quit.

Yukino: He's not wrong. We just need her to join again.

Hachiman: (thoughts) Grrr, I hate it when they work together.

Yukino: Hiratsuka-sensei said that we just had to replenish our human resources.

Hachiman: But you think she'd just come back? Typically, once someone leaves, they're gone for good.

Yukino: June 18. Do you know what that day is?

Hachiman: ...No.

Yukino: It's Yuigahama-san's birthday. I think. Her email address ends with 0618.

Y/N attempts to walk away, but his hoodie is grabbed by the ice cold queen, causing him to be reeled back.

Yukino: Where do you think you're going?

Y/N: Home.

Yukino: You do know that you have to help us, right?

Y/N: (sigh) ...Fine.

Yukino: Good. Now be a good boy.

Y/N: Huh? What are you, my master--

Yukino: Anyway, I her birthday is June 18. I think.

Hachiman: But you never asked her the actual date.

Yukino only looks away, causing Hikigaya to grin slightly.

Hachiman: Yeah, great communication skills.

Yukino: Anyway, I want to celebrate her birthday. Even if she doesn't come back to the Service Club, I want her to know that I'm grateful to her.

Hachiman: I see.

Yukino: Hey, Hikigaya-kun, Y/N.

Y/N: Hmm?

Hachiman: Eh?

Yukino: (blushes slightly) U-Um...er...

Hachiman: Huh?

Y/N: If you have something to say, say it.

Yukino: ...C-Could you both go out with me?

Y/N and Hachiman: ...Huh?

Timeskip-Next Day, Mall

Yukino: Sorry for asking you three out on a weekend.

Komachi: Oh, don't mention it! I wanna buy a present for Yui-san too! And hang out with you sounds like buckets of fun, Yukino-san!

Y/N: You made it sound like you were asking us on a date.

Yukino: (blushes) Q-Quiet...

Hachiman: All right. Let's go for maximum efficiency. I'll take this side.

Yukino: (points in other direction) Then I'll take this side.

Y/N: Whatever. I'll just look around.

Hachiman: (points) Okay, Komachi, you've got that part of--

Komachi: Stop right there.

Komachi twists Hachiman's finger, causing the latter to shriek in pain as he held it, giving his sister the stink eye.

Hachiman: What was that for? That hurt like hell!

Komachi: When'll we get another chance like this? Let's shop together! And we can make suggestions and stuff! It's better!

Yukino: But we won't be able to cover the whole mall.

Komachi: Don't worry. (overlooks map) My senses tell me that we can find stuff Yui-san likes...if we cover this section here!

Pointing on the map, it seemed to be in a central area, with the shops numbered, 108, 114, 115, 119, 116, and 117 being the closest to the relevant area.

They travel to the area and Yukino and Komachi were leading in the front, the younger Hikigaya giving directions and recommendations to Yukino. Hachiman and Y/N trailed behind them, as if they were both lost puppies.

Soon after, they came to a stop.

Hachiman: Komachi? This is the section, right? Huh?

Y/N: What?

Hachiman: Did you see where she went?

The three look around. Komachi was nowhere in sight, causing the older to worry slightly, but was also irritated at the same time.

Having enough looking around, Hikigaya pulls out his phone and calls his sister.

Komachi: (on phone) Hi, hi!

Hachiman: Hey, where'd you go?

Komachi: (on phone) Oh, there's a ton of stuff I wanna buy, so I totally forgot about you.

Hachiman: You were the one who wanted to shop together! I never imagined my sister could be this much of an airhead. I worry about you.

As the two siblings were conversing, Y/N was over with Yukino, who was looking at the various stuffed animals of the famous Pan-san, a panda bear.

Y/N: Your still in to that stuff?

Yukino: Is that a problem?

Y/N: Not really. I thought you were one of those people who grew out of it. After all, every Pan-san animal I gave you when we were younger you'd--

Yukino: (death glare) Keep talking and you'll get it.

Y/N: (sighs) Yeah, yeah.

Hachiman: Hey! Why would I need luck to buy something?

Y/N: What's wrong?

Hachiman: She's basically leaving the search to us. (looks to Yukino) Yukinoshita?

Yukino: (puts Pan-san down) So where did Komachi-san go?

Hachiman: Oh, she said she had stuff to buy. So we're stuck present-hunting ourselves.

Yukino: We asked her for her time on a weekend. She has a right to complain. We don't. We'll have to manage on our own.

Y/N: So? What do you propose we do? What stores to head to? (thoughts) Not that I care. I just want to go home.

Yukinoshita wasn't listening as she had went ahead and bought the Pan-san stuffed toy, walking past the two boys as if nothing happened.

Yukino: Let's go.

Hachiman: (looks to Y/N) Was she always into that stuff?

Y/N: Yeah. I would buy some for her when we were younger and she'd--

The L/N boy stops talking as the two look to Yukinoshita, who was giving off the signature ice cold glare.

It was something that sent chills down their spines and they quickly caught up with her. As they walked, the various women that were around were giving Hachiman the stink eye and looks of suspicion. Y/N not so much. Instead, they were giving him flirty looks, which caused Y/N to awkwardly mess around with his shirt collar.

Yukino was looking around at the clothes, but was staring at the L/N boy through the corner of her eye. She scowled a little as she could see the girls flirty looks and other "assets."

Hachiman: Do I look that shady?

Yukino: It seems people are wary of lone male shoppers in this part of the mall.

Hachiman: Y/N gets the--

Yukino: (clears throat) There's not much you can do around here.

Hachiman: I'll wait for you over there, bye.

Before Yukinoshita could stop Hachiman from running, she was bumped by the L/N boy, who dragged her around the corner.

Before she could question and berate him, thundering footsteps could be heard.

Girl 1: Ah! Where did that hottie go!?

Girl 2: I want his number! He's mine!

Girl 3: No he's mine! I saw him first!

Girl 4: No I saw him first!

Girl 2: Back up ladies, that man is mine!

Girl 5: Not unless I get to him first!

They go past the small corridor, causing the L/N to sigh in relief.

Y/N: You okay--

Looking down, he didn't realize how close they were. Her face was a few inches away from his. Their chests close together, her hands resting on his chest. Y/N's arms had been wrapped around her waist, keeping her close. Their hot breaths were mixing, a blush sporting their faces.

Soon, Y/N leaves the small hall and helps Yukino out of it, looking away as he scratched his cheek awkwardly.

Y/N: U-Um...s-sorry about that.

Yukino: I-It wasn't your fault...you had no control over the situation.

Y/N: R-Right.

An awkward silence occurred between the two before they turned back to each other, Y/N still scratching his cheek awkwardly as he had a small blush on his face as did Yukino.

Y/N: Well...w-we should go back to searching.

Yukino: Y-Yes. Of course.

As they walked throughout the mall, with no Hikigaya in sight, Y/N and Yukino were awkwardly walking beside each other.

No eye contact was made. No words were spoken between them. And every time their hands had brushed together, they would retract their hands quickly as they tensed up. It wasn't long that the same group of teenage girls found them.

But the two were prepared. Y/N had let Yukino's action slide as she linked his arms with his, making it look like they were dating.

They found some benches to sit on for rest. Both their arms were still linked to each other and the awkward atmosphere was still surrounding them. Each time they made eye contact, they would quickly look away. Unaware to the both of them...

 Komachi: Ne, Onii-chan...

Hachiman: Hmm?

Komachi: Are you sure this plan is going to work?

Hachiman: If one of them can work up the courage to admit their feelings for one another. It's honestly painful and said to watch.

Komachi nods multiple times in agreement. In fact, just watching the L/N and Yukinoshita were easy to mistake them as people in a relationship.

Small Timeskip

They went to one of the stores to find a suitable present for Yui and Yukino ended up trying on a purple apron.

Yukino: W-What do you think...?

She had answered in a shy tone and it made Y/N blush a little. It increased even more as he didn't know how to respond to her wearing the apron.

He turns and looks away, scratching the back of his head awkwardly as he looks from side then back to her.

Y/N: It...um...looks good on you.

Yukino blushes slightly, even smiling a little. But it wasn't noticed by the L/N boy.

Yukino: T-Thank you. But I wasn't asking about me. I was asking how Yuigahama-san would like it.

Y/N: (nonchalantly) Wouldn't she wear something more fancy and frilly that someone with a lower IQ would wear?

Yukino: While that is a rude way to put it, but it's so accurate that I'm not sure how to respond. (looks to pink apron) I'll get this one for her.

Y/N: Sure, whatever. And you're buying that one too?

She doesn't respond as she walks past him, with a small blush on her face. Y/N noticed it too and he too blushed as well.

Meanwhile

Komachi: Onii-chan...

Hachiman: Hmm?

Komachi: They haven't confessed yet.

Hachiman: (thoughts) Tsk! So annoying! Can one of you ask each other out already!?

Back with Y/N and Yukino

As Yukino went to the cashier to pay for the aprons, someone called out to her.

???: Huh, Yukino-chan? Y/N?

The two look around to see a girl who was older than Yukino and looked a bit like here, albeit with a slight difference. She was also around if not the same age as Setsuna.

???: (smiles) Oh, I knew i! It is you! Even Y/N is with you!

Yukino: Nee-san?

Y/N: Haruno-nee.

(A/N): This is season one version of Haruno. Seasons two and three were done by a different studio so once season two and three hit, the characters will obviously look different.

Having met up with the older Yukinoshita, they had gotten out of the store and went to sit down somewhere. Haruno was currently giving Y/N a tight hug, much to Y/N's displeasure and Yukino's jealousy.

Haruno: It's been so long Y/N! How's your brother?

Y/N: Aside Nee-san pestering him to get a wife already, he's doing fine.

Haruno: And you?

Y/N: I've...been better.

Haruno: Aww, don't beat yourself up about it. You know it wasn't your fault.

Y/N: Right...

Ever since his mother's death, Y/N had felt like he was guilty of it. He felt that he could have called out for help, but he couldn't. He was afraid. Then again, any child at around the age of eight being held at gun point would be afraid. What could he do? He was helpless that night and it left a scar on him.

Haruno: When did you two start dating? C'mon, c'mon, tell me, tell me!

As she kept pestering her sister, Yukino was glowing a bright red. Y/N was looking away, covering his mouth with his hand as he was looking down. It was as if his whole world was crashing down. He stole a glance at Haruno. Sure, he admitted that the two Yukinoshita's were pretty. At one point, Y/N thought that Haruno was the pretty of the two and vice versa. The two were practically identical.

Y/N: (thoughts) Well...except for one area...

Y/N was discreetly looking at a certain place of Haruno's and then glances over to Yukino.

Y/N: (thoughts) They look the same, but the--

He was interrupted from his thoughts as Haruno had gotten close to Y/N's face, poking his cheek multiple times. He was clearly annoyed.

All while she was doing this, his arm was being enveloped in between something. He blushed a small tint of pink as tried not to think of her that way. Growing up, he saw Haruno as another older sister. He was glad to have her company whenever Setsuna or Itsuki wasn't around.

Haruno: Look at you getting flustered. You may have known each other for a long time, but that saying still stands, Y/N. Make Yukino-chan cry, and I'll make sure you regret it!

Y/N: H-Haruno-nee...too close...

Haruno: Aww, but you loved getting this close to me. You never refused my hugs!

Y/N: (thoughts) Well...she got me there.

Yukino: Nee-san, could you please stop that?

Haruno: Oh, sorry. I may have gone a little overboard. It's been so long since we've all seen each other! (whispers to Y/N) I know you know this but, Yukino-chan's still very delicate, so you'd better be careful with her, 'kay?

Y/N: (blushes and looks away) S-Sure...

It was quite surprising to Y/N. In terms of personality, the two sisters were quite different.

Haruno was a happy, go-lucky person. Someone who was easy to get along. Yukino on the other hand was...difficult. That's what Y/N described her. When they were younger, it took awhile for Y/N to get used to Yukino. Same with her. Giving off a cold personality and serious attitude most of the time, she never really made friends. But, the two synergized, so to speak. The two both liked cats and Pan-san. Every Christmas, Y/N would gift Yukino a Pan-san stuffed toy and she would give him the widest smile she could.

But, he doesn't see her as the ice, cold girl back then. He did see a mature young woman in front of him, sure, but something else could be seen. Something that couldn't be described towards him. He didn't understand those feelings quite well.

Yukino on the other hand had fallen in love with the L/N boy since they were children. When they first interacted, her heart would flutter and skip a beat every time he talked to her or if he was just near her in general. She always cherished the gifts that she received from him. Seeing him different now, made her feelings feel conflicted. She wasn't sure if she should keep the current relationship they have now or if she should take the chance. But she was scared. She didn't want to ruin it. Ruin everything the two have built together.

Yukino: (clears throat) I-If you have no business with us, we'd like to leave.

Haruno smirks in reply, knowing that her sister still loves the L/N boy. Standing up, she bids the two farewell.

Haruno: Y/N, if you ever start dating Yukino-chan for real, we should have a drink! (runs off)

Y/N: (sigh) She's still the same as ever, huh?

Yukino: Y-Yes...

Y/N wasn't sure what to think of the ice, cold queen now. He's seeing a different side of her today. A more vulnerable one, but one that easily attracts him. He couldn't explain it.

He shook his head and sighs to himself, rubbing his temple.

They were startled as they heard footsteps walking next to them. Looking over, they see Hachiman himself, trying to sneak away. The key word was "tried."

Hachiman: Y-Yo...fancy seeing you guys here, r-right...?

The other two had annoyed looks as Hikigaya had basically abandoned the two. Yukino was about to get up and berate him until they heard barking.

Looking over in the direction, they see a small brown dog running over to them, happy as it's tail was wagging.

Yukino: A-A dog.

Backing up as she was slightly startled, fearing the dog a little. She backed up to much that her foot hit the base of the seat, she had fallen onto the seat, causing her to lean back. The L/N boy reacts on instinct and catches Yukino, supporting her.

The dog leaps into the air and Yukino shields her face in Y/N's chest. Y/N wasn't sure what to do and he wraps his arms around the younger Yukinoshita without thinking.

Hachiman: (catches dog) Huh? Hey, where's your owner? Haven't they heard of a leash?

The dog goes to lick Hikigaya's face, causing the black haired male to drop the dog as he was surprised by the dog's sudden action.

Hachiman: Whoa! What's up with this dog? It likes me way too much.

Yukino: (looks at dog) This dog...

???: I'm so sorry! My little Sable just ran off and...

Yukino: Oh? Yuigahama-san?

Yui: Huh? Hikky and Yukinon? And...L/N-san...?

Y/N: Hmm?

Yui: Are you and Yukinon dating? Wait!? Are you guys, like, on a date now!?

Realizing the position they were still in, Yukino quickly gets up and dusts herself off as Y/N just looks to the side, looking back at Yui from time to time awkwardly.

Yukino: N-No, we're not on a date.

Yui: (not listening) No, never mind! It's okay! Forget I asked! I don't know why Hikky is here, but you two going out together on a weekend? It's totally obvious! (laughs nervously) I see! Why didn't I, like, notice? Noticing things was the only thing I was good at too!

Y/N: (thoughts) I think she might have the wrong idea.

Hachiman: (thoughts) Just say you like each other dammit!

Yui: (picks up Sable) W-Well, I'll be going now.

She goes to walk off, but Yukino stops her from doing so.

Yukino: Yuigahama-san, I want us to tell you something about us. Would you mind coming to the clubroom on Monday?

Yui: Um...I might not really want to hear it. It's like, nothing'll change even if I do, right? Or, like, there's nothing I can do about it.

Yukino: Being the way I am, I didn't really know how to tell you before, but I do want to tell you properly.

Yui: (shuffles uncomfortably) Okay...

Timeskip-Monday, Dawn, Service Club Room

Yui stood outside the Service Club room and she took a deep breath. She was nervous and hesitant to open the door.

Hachiman: What are you doing?

Yui: (freaks out) H-Hikky!? W-Well, like...the air tasted great?

Hachiman: ...Come on, let's go.

He walks past her and opens the door. Inside, Y/N and Yukino were doing what they usually do.

Since their attention was brought to the door as it had opened.

Yukino: Yuigahama-san.

Y/N: (monotone) Osu.

Yui: (waves) Y-Yahello, Yukinon, L/N-san...

Yuigahama sat by Yukino and Y/N was sitting at the opposite end of Hachiman.

Yukino: Yuigahama-san.

Yui: U-Um...you wanted to tell me something about you and L/N-san, right?

Yukino: Yes. We wanted to tell you about our future--

Yui: H-Hey, you don't need to mind me at all! I mean, like, yeah, I was surprised at first, but it was more because, like, we need to celebrate!

Yukino: H-How did you know? I wanted to celebrate it. Also, I'm very thankful to you.

Yui: (rubs back of head) H-Hey, I never did anything you need to thank me for! I never did anything...

Yukino: Regardless, I'm still thankful to you. And celebrations like these don't happen because a celebrant asks. I simply want to celebrate.

Yui: Okay...

Hachiman: (thoughts) It feels like they aren't talking about the same thing.

Yukino: So...um...

Yui: I might not want to gear any more.

Y/N: (sigh) You're misunderstanding something here.

Small Timeskip

Yui: W-Wait a minute! So you guys aren't dating or anything?

Y/N: Nope.

Yukino: Y-Yes. (clears throat) If anything, the only man here who could never handle an interpersonal relationship, let alone a relationship with someone of the opposite sex, is him.

Hachiman: Oh shut up. Like I'd ever want to be in some stupid relationship. If some broad called me in the night, crying, I'd break up with her right then and there.

Yui: (laughs awkwardly) Sorry, sorry. Huh?

Yukino had picked up a wrapped box from the table that was near her bag.

Yukino: It seems we're out of time. I even baked a cake for you too.

Yui: A cake? Why a cake?

Yukino: Why? I asked you to come so we could celebrate your birthday.

Yui: Eh?

Yukino: You haven't been coming recently, but you've done a lot for the club. And...I guess you could call it a token of our appreciation.

Yui: A present too!?

Opening the present, Yui was gifted the same apron that Y/N and Yukino had picked out the other day.

Yui: Wow! Yukinon!

Yukino: Y/N helped me out. I'm also not the only one with a present for you.

Yui: Huh?

The three look over to Hachiman, who was digging through his bag and pulled out a small square box.

Yui: I never thought you'd get a present for me too, Hikky. I mean, we've been kinda...awkward recently?

Hachiman: Sorry. This isn't just for your birthday. How should I put it...I was thinking we could call it even.

Y/N: (thoughts) Am I missing something?

Hachiman: My saving your dog and your feeling guilty about it...just forget it. I didn't do it to get any favors our of anyone in the first place, so you don't need to return any favors to me. So, uh...how to say it...I want to pay you back for whatever you did out of guilt. Now any debts are paid and done. You don't need to be concerned about me anymore. So we can end all that now, right? (sigh)

Yui: ...How can you think that? I never thought of things in terms of pity or guilt. It's just that...It's so complicated that I don't know what to call it anymore. It was a lot simpler in my head.

Yukino: I don't think it's a particularly difficult issue. Hikigaya-kun had no intention of helping Yuigahama-san. And Yuigahama-san has no recollection of ever pitying Hikigaya-kun. Everything was wrong from the start. So I think Hikigaya-kun's decision to end it here is correct.

Yui: But I don't want anything to end here.

Y/N: Stupid. Once it ends, you can start all over again. You're not the ones at fault, after all.

Hachiman: Huh?

Yukino: While one of you saved and the other was saved, both of you were victims. That means that the one who caused all of this is the malefactor. Neither of you was at fault, so there was no cause for argument in the first place. And so...

Y/N: The two of you can begin anew properly.

Yukino: Oh, I need to report to Hiratsuka-sensei that we've replenished our human resources.

The girl with a cold demeanor grabs her bag and leaves. Y/N does so as well and gives the other a two a nod, saying goodbye.

He quickly catches up with Yukino and whispers in her ear.

Y/N: (whisper) You did a good job today, Yukino-chan.

She paused and blushed. Looking at the L/N, who was staring from the corner of his eye and simply gives a small smile, her eyes had widen.

Yukino: Y-You...

Y/N: Don't get all sentimental with me now...arigato.
