Every step the girls took towards the office only filled Scarlett with annoyance as she watches the girls nervously glance at each other out of the corner of her eye. If she was simply on her own then she would be fine. But then she wouldn't be able to keep an eye, and hold, on them, and clearly someone needs to.

Detective Wilden paces in front of the five girls as they squeeze together on the couch. Finally, after several long minutes of reading the file in his hand and Scarlett's glares, he speaks. "So let's see." He begins before the Mave girl cuts in.
"Yes," She clears her throat, placing her hands together in her lap. "Let's." The other four girls all eye each other before sitting up straighter as Scarlett does. "After rudely and distastefully deciding to stop us just outside of the church at our best friends funeral to interrogate and threaten us, correct me if I'm wrong at any time, though I never am—" She quickly adds as the Detective opens his mouth to object but wisely closes it, she continues.
"You decided it would be an even better idea to pull us all out of class and disrupt our education to further investigate us, oh!" She looks around the room, causing the girls to jump as she throws her hands up. "Once again without our parents or legal guardians present, hmmm, which, again correct me if I'm wrong, sir, is actually quite illegal, which you should know, right?" She pauses, staring up at him, her victorious smirk gracing her lips before reaching down to her purse and plucking out a business card before standing and clicking over to hand it to him.
"But I would be more than happy to direct you to call my mother's law office, which she owns, and her mother," Scarlett points at Spencer with the card before bouncing back to face Wilden, "Also happens to work there as well, my aunt. So, here's her card and phone number, mhmm." She nods, slipping it under Detective Wilden's thumb, which is still grasping of the file. "And until our lawyers and parents are present, we're done here." She ends with a satisfactory grin. "Thank you so much for your time Detective, but I believe I have an education to get back to."
And with that Scarlett sashays over to grab her purse, nodding her head towards the door. "Let's go girls." All four have their mouths hanging open but don't waste a second to grab their bags and hastily follow Scarlett out the door.
"That was awesome." Hanna breathes once they exit the office and are out of earshot. Spencer elbows her as they pick up their pace down the hall.

"He knows we're lying." Aria voices at the lunch table causing me to roll my eyes.
Hanna joins me. "Lying is not a crime." Well— you know, I am not even going to go there.
"It is when you're giving false statements to the police." Spencer whispers. "It's called obstruction of justice."
"Ok miss lawyers daughter." I scoff, taking a sip of my lemon water. "Who's side are you on?"
"Oh, please! We lied about drinking." Hanna laughs her off, looking at Emily.
I nod in agreement. "Like every damn teenager in Rosewood hasn't done that?" I look at Spencer, waiting for her comeback.
"But the truth that matters is we don't know anything that happened to Ali that night." Hanna finishes confidently.
I cross my arms, raising a 'what now' brow to Spencer.
"We also know about someone who might have wanted to hurt her." Spencer argues back.
"We should have told the police the truth about Jenna's accident the night it happened." Emily queasily insists.
I groan, we're back to this?
"I wanted to, remember?" Hanna snaps at Emily.
"We had the chance to do more than just tell the truth. We had a chance to stop Ali." Aria adds, looking at me.
"Oh, come on, Aria." I roll my eyes once again, fed up with this conversation. "It was just some prank that went wrong, it happens." As if some stupid boys never tried to pull some prank that went horribly wrong? I remember hearing countless stories over the years from Rose and Melissa.
"But we didn't stop her." Spencer cuts back in. "And telling the police now about happened to Jenna isn't going to make her see again." She points out. "It'll just ruin our lives."
Ah, finally something I can agree with. "Thank you, Spencer." I wave my hand at her. "Amen."
Aria eyes advert to the table when suddenly a deafeningly loud sound of tapping fills the air.
Hanna looks up. "Oh, my God, she's back in school too?" She's quick to scoff the question.
I look up to find two boys brush past Jenna carelessly while Aria and Spencer turn to look over their shoulders at the same time. Could they be anymore obvious?
Aria goes to stand causing me to jerk back in surprise. "What the hell are you doing?" I hiss at her as she approaches Jenna. My mouth falls open.
"Jenna?" Aria approaches her. "Hey, it's-it's Aria. Do you... wanna come sit with us?"
Has she completely lost her mind?! Spencer turns to me in disbelief.
"Sure." Jenna answers after a moment of hesitation.
"Okay." Aria takes Jenna's tray for her as I blink slowly, wondering what parallel universe I just woke up to—
"Thank you." Jenna tells her as Aria waits as Jenna places her hand on Aria's shoulder.
"So you're going to be between Hanna and Emily and Spencer's right across from you, Scarlett's on the end next to Hanna." Aria explains as she pulls up a chair for Jenna to sit and Emily uncomfortably scoots down.
My jaw tightens as she slides her bag down her shoulder to sit.
"So, this would be Alison's chair, right?" Jenna asks.
My nails dig into my palm as Emily's quick to respond.
"No. We're not even sitting at that table."
I snap my head in her direction and she shrinks down slightly. Ugh. It's like kicking a puppy...
"You know, she came to visit me in the hospital after the accident." Jenna continues, folding her cane.
"Alison did?" Spencer asks, not even hiding her shock.
Hanna glances over at me but I keep a stoic expression.
I knew Ali visited her, and exactly why. She had something on Jenna.
"Mm-hmm." Jenna hums. "Everyone misunderstood Alison, but I knew exactly who she was." She smiles.
I drag my finger around the brim of my cup as I purse my lips together. What is she getting at?
"When did you get back, Jenna?" Spencer asks abruptly. "We heard that you were in Philadelphia. A school for the visually impaired." She looks nervous and I shoot her a pointed look to remain composed.
"You can say blind, Spencer." Jenna leans forward and snort quietly. "It's okay. It's a dirty word." Probably the funniest thing Jenna's ever said I must admit.
She takes a sip of her orange juice as Emily stares down at the table like she may throw up at any minute.
Silence stings through the air. I swallow
"Wow. It's so quiet." Jenna comments. "You guys used to be the fun table." She leans towards Emily. Aria frowns deeply out of the corner of my eye. "What happened to you girls?"
I stare at Jenna wildly, feeling every blood vessel in my brain come unglued—
