"Do you have time tomorrow?" Bokuto asked as he peeked into their bedroom. Akaashi was in the middle of changing, pulling his shirt over his head. It was still early morning, neither of them had done anything to get their day started, so seeing Akaashi like this - standing in front of the window, rays of sunshine hitting his perfect upper body - Bokuto couldn't help but feel bothered (in a good way).
"I'll have to check, but I am pretty sure I do. Why?" he asked as he turned to Bokuto, still not wearing anything to cover up his chest. With a sharp inhale Bokuto shuffled closer into the room, walking up to Akaashi and running his hand down his chest as if enchanted by the moment.
"oh, uh..." he struggled to find the words as he felt Akaashi wrap his arms around his waist, pulling him closer. "Wanted to take you on a date... I got paid today, so..."
"You don't have to take me on a date every single time you get paid" Akaashi chuckled before leaning in and placing a soft kiss on Bokuto's lips, melting into them this beautiful morning. He felt Bokuto's strong hands grip his waist with force, squeezing his sides as he became rougher with the kiss.
Not like Akaashi minded the dates, he loved them, every single second of them. Seeing a smile on Bokuto's face was more than enough for him to be happy. He would always go overboard, but Akaashi appreciated it - Bokuto was not afraid to hide their relationship either - he was open with it.
It made Akaashi even happier because it seemed like for the first time since they came to the states - Bokuto was enjoying himself. He would hold Akaashi's hand, dragging him to many places throughout the day, not caring what people think - and by the night, those same hands would be entangled in Akaashi's hair, his name escaping Bokuto's lips.
Suddenly Bokuto pulled away, his arms still on Akaashi's waist, but his gaze somewhere else. Something must be bothering him. "What's wrong?" Akaashi asked, placing his palm on Bokuto's cheek and caressing it softly.
"...Aren't you... ashamed of me sometimes?" Bokuto asked, his eyes finally looked into Akaashi's - though the latter could not read the emotions in them. There were many, too many to count and name.
"Why would I ever be?" Akaashi asked, curious as to what prompted this. Bokuto finally released his grip, taking a step back and holding Akaashi's hands gently.
"You're a famous lawyer. You're good and smart, and gorgeous, and just overall amazing. It's thanks to you that we get to live like this... That I get to live like this. You work tirelessly every single day, you sacrifice yourself for others. And I..." Bokuto trailed off.
"Bokuto... what is it?" Akaashi felt concerned, it wasn't like Bokuto to be like this.
"And I... am just a janitor. I got the job through your recommendation... And I get paid much less than you, and yet..." Bokuto finally looked up, his eyes swelled up with tears. "And yet you never ask me for anything... I feel like I am taking too much from you"
Akaashi, without another word, pulled Bokuto into his embrace, holding him tight. "I have never been ashamed of you, Bokuto. You already do so much for me that I don't know how to pay you back" Akaashi said. "I wake up next to you each morning and that puts a smile on my face. You take good care of me, you take care of the house, you make sure I am rested and well - if not you, I would be gone because there would be no one who would look after me"
Bokuto raised his head, looking at Akaashi with wide eyes as the other raised his hand and wiped the tears off of his face, smiling at him with love. "Your love is invaluable. So what if you're a janitor, your profession does not matter to me. I would love you no matter what", he placed a kiss on Bokuto's cheek.
"And I would also love you no matter what" he followed up.
"No matter what?"
"No matter what." as Bokuto pulled him into an embrace, a smile plastered on Akaashi's face. It was good that Bokuto was this attached, perhaps, if his dark pastime ever got out - Bokuto wouldn't leave him.
Once the two calmed down, Bokuto dragged him down to the kitchen, where breakfast was waiting on the table. For Bokuto, it was like a massive stone rolled off of his chest - Akaashi had been a bit on the edge these days, and Bokuto had begun worrying that it had something to do with him, but now... it all seemed fine. Akaashi was in a good mood today.
"So, where are you going?" Bokuto asked just as Akaashi was about to leave through the front door, his hands already covered in his gloves.
"Meeting clients. I'll probably be back late" Akaashi gave Bokuto a reassuring smile.
"Late? It's still morning... Do you want me to bring you lunch at some time?" Bokuto wondered. As Akaashi looked at him again, Bokuto couldn't help but see an emotion in Akaashi's eyes, one that he couldn't put his finger on. Like a dark shadow, it surrounded Akaashi's pupils - what was that about?
"No, I'll be fine. I'll pick up something to eat." He stepped closer to Bokuto, giving him one last hug before heading out. "Oh, and..." he turned to him as he was about to step through the doorway. "...warm the bed for me, will you?" Akaashi winked at him and finally went off his merry way.
It was going to be a long day, but Akaashi had been waiting for it. He had done his fair share of research already - there was no backing out now. He wanted, no, he needed to see someone writhing in agony to fuel his inner battery. It had been a while since he took his time with someone.
As he began walking toward the southern direction of the city, his eyes became even more clouded so than before, his breathing deepened as all Akaashi could think about was the pained expressions on those faces when his knife sticks deep into their stomach, spilling all of its contents on the floor.
Those guys a few days back... they were what Akaashi craved. He got their files and their shared address. He staked them out, marking down their schedules - he had to make sure everything was perfect. Even if he was strong, taking on two guys would still be too much. One had to be done before the other can come back.
It took him a while to get to the bus station that he needed, the furthest one from home. As he got on a bus heading towards the direction he needed, he exhaled the air he had been holding in. His animosity rose by the seconds, as even the small poodle that a lady in the bus was holding hid behind her legs.
Akaashi had nothing else in his mind. Just bloodlust.
His feet carried him to the location he needed, a small apartment building on the edge of the city. He knew damn well that they have neighbors upstairs and to the right, but also knew they were gone mostly throughout the day - he had observed them all. So when let himself into the unguarded building, a wave of calmness crashed over him.
Unwavering, he climbed to the third floor of the building, knocking on the door in front of him. The short-haired one was going to open the door, he knew. As the door swung open, a familiar face appeared in front of him, one that he had silenced before.
"Uh, hello? You're from the police station!" he said as he remembered Akaashi. "How can I help?"
"I have some information you might wanna know, may I come in?" Akaashi asked very politely, hiding his ulterior motives until the time is right, though that time was quickly running out. "You're Tanaka, right?"
"Huh? Oh yes, to both of those questions" Tanaka finally took a step back, inviting Akaashi to come into his humble apartment. It was worn down, unkept, the landlord never came in here and was frankly waiting for all of the inhabitants to move out. It was half abandoned.
As Akaashi stepped inside, his eyes scanned the area, looking for the best place to act. He had to leave space for the other one too, after all. His roommate and friend was coming back in two hours - Akaashi had to hurry up. "So, what information do you have?" Tanaka asked, still watching Akaashi.
"We think you and your friend are targeted by X after all..." Akaashi managed to say, his hand reaching into his pocket, waiting for a perfect moment to strike. He watched carefully as Tanaka began turning around, heading towards the living room - he had approximately 5 seconds to act - and he did.
Just as Tanaka's back turned to him, Akaashi lunged forward, his knife in hand. The other hand was quickly thrown over Tanaka's shoulder and onto his mouth to prevent him from screaming. As he tripped Tanaka over his feet, landing them both on the floor - Akaashi used his elbow to strike Tanaka's head - knocking the other unconscious with a strong blow.
Akaashi... sighed in relief. The hardest part was behind him, all that was left was to enjoy himself to the fullest and return back to Bokuto with a smile.
