Chapter 15
We walked into the bedroom of the Cabin slowly. Caleb immediately walked over to the farthest bed and laid down. My arm was wrapped around Bradley's shoulders and I helped him carefully sit on the bed.
Brushing hair out of his eyes I placed my hand on his cheek. My boyfriend placed his hand on my own and gave me a small smile; We both looked forward and noticed Elliot staring at us. Neither one of us said a word to the man and eventually he left.
The door slammed shut and a second later we heard scraping across the flooring. I stood up straight as Caleb shot out of the bed. I walked over to the door and tried to twist the handle. It wouldn't open and I started to pull and push with all of my might. Caleb was banging on the door and calling out to his father.
I glanced back at my boyfriend and immediately he stood up. He waved for us to back away as he walked over. I grabbed onto Caleb and we took a few steps back. Bradley slammed his body into the door. Nothing happened and he took a few steps backwards.
"Stay back," he commanded as he rammed into the door again. Again the door didn't budge. Bradley was still fuming with anger and he started to punch the door. He hit it twice and then spun around, kicking the bed frame. I jumped backwards in shock as I watched a piece of metal fall out of the bed.
I walked over to Bradley and took his face in my hands. Forcing him to look at me I spoke, "Calm down, please. We are gonna get out of here."
Bradley's breathing slowed and he nodded his head. I dragged him over to the bed and made him sit down. "I'm sorry," he whispered.
"Don't be. We're all scared it's okay," I comforted, placing a kiss on his forehead.
"Hey we could smash out the windows," Caleb offered as he picked up the piece of metal.
Bradley shook his head. Looking at the floor he answered, "It's to loud. He'd hear it."
Caleb walked over to the window and looked out. He took sharp intakes of breath for a few seconds. "We could build a bonfire. Maybe a helicopter will come find us," my boyfriend's brother suggested.
Neither of us answered and Caleb gave up. He hung his head down and laid back down on the bed. He curled up into a fetus position and I felt my heart break slightly.
We didn't speak for a few minutes. Bradley was adjusting his beanie; I got fed up with not doing anything. I stood up and Caleb spoke, "Where is he going?"
I walked over to the other window and saw Elliot walking away. I then turned around and made my way over to my boyfriend. I walked over a piece of wood and it let out a squeak. I took a step back and then a step forward. Again it groaned. I looked at Bradley and he caught onto to what I was thinking.
"Give me that thing," Bradley asked, outstretching his hand. Caleb handed his brother the metal and my boyfriend crouched down. I scooted the bed frame out of the way as Bradley jammed the metal into the wood.
I placed my hands on top of Bradley's and together we pushed down with all of our force. The floorboard eventually gave way.
"There you go," Bradley whispered, pulling the wood up. Caleb wiggled the rest of it out of place and I set it to the side. "Try and get the other one," Caleb stated.
Bradley reached down and tried to pull it up. He groaned in pain from the effort, so I placed my hand on his shoulder and he stopped. He stood up straight and looked at his brother, "Can you fit?"
"I don't know," Caleb responded looking up at us. I knew there was no way Bradley and I could fit, but if Caleb could get out he had to, "Go on."
Caleb nodded his head and started to slip through the floor. "Do you need a hand?" Bradley questioned, bending down to help his brother.
"I don't think so," Caleb answered, slipping his body through the wood. He was completely under the floor. "Hey, can you see anything?" I asked, eager to get out of this hell hole.
"Is there a way out?" My boyfriend questioned, trying to get a good look down the whole. "I don't know," Caleb replied.
I handed Caleb a flashlight. He took it instantly and turned it on. I saw the light shine from down there as Caleb started to crawl away.
Bradley and I looked at each other for a few seconds, hope in our eyes. The Caleb started shouting, "Oh my God. Skylar! Bradley!"
"What?" Bradley and I asked in unison, fear restoring in our features.
Caleb crawled back to the hole and looked up. "He's not..." Caleb huffed, trying to catch his breath.
Bradley tried to shush his brother, "Okay what do you... What?"
"He's not... he's not moving. I don't know what happened. The other guy, he's.... Brad he's dead," Caleb explained.
My blood ran cold at those words. I knew that we had to get out of here and so did Bradley.
"Listen you can't wait. We'll figure something out and come find you. You gotta go," Bradley stated, grabbing onto my hand. I gave a nod at Caleb.
The front door of the cabin opened and we heard Elliot walk inside. He placed something down and walked over to the door. "What's going on in there?" Elliot questioned.
"Nothing. We're fine," Bradley answered, squeezing my hand.
"You feeling okay?" Elliot asked.
Bradley looked at me with fear, "Better thanks." Bradley gave me a look at I spoke, "We're okay."
"I'm chopping a bunch of wood so it's gonna get warm in here in a couple of minutes," Elliot explained.
"Say something, Say something," I whispered to Caleb.
He nodded his head and swallowed, "Great thank you."
We then heard foot steps and the front door opening and closing. I took the keys out of my pocket and handed them to Caleb, "Here take these. Find their truck and go get help, okay?"
Caleb took the keys but stared at Bradley and I. He opened his mouth to speak but Bradley cut him off, "Look I know you don't want to go on your own okay? But you have to, okay? You don't have a choice, okay? You gotta go. You gotta go get help, okay? It can't be far."
Caleb looked to me and I nodded my head, "Go."
"Okay," Caleb whispered. He stayed still for a few seconds.
"Now," Bradley ushered.
"Okay, okay," Caleb replied. A second later he crawled away. Bradley and I looked at each other.
I pulled him into a tight hug. I knew he was relived that Caleb could escape, even if it meant we were stuck here.
