I LIVE IN fear. In the early evening that I can see the sun begins to fade, the fear comes, because I know that night brings death.

Jeremy's eyes scanned the journal that belonged to his ancestor, Jonathan Gilbert.

He flicked through the pages before he came upon a picture that had been drawn by the owner of the journal and stood up.

Pulling a box off the shelf in his bedroom, he grabbed his sketchbook and began to draw the picture himself.

Elena, who had been in the bathroom getting ready, noticed her brother and smiled.

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

"JEREMY'S GOT his sketch pad out." Elena told her aunt as she bounced down the stairs.

"You're kidding?" Jenna asked.

"Nope, but don't say a word. The minute we encourage him, he'll put it away." Elena tells her.

"Psychology Major. Check that." Jenna says as Elena pulls her phone out to see if Stefan had texted her, telling her that he had changed his mind about leaving, "You and Stefan? Update?"

"He knows how I feel and work, and I know where he stands and it doesn't matter." Elena tells her aunt, "He's leaving, moving away?"

"Where's he going?" Jenna asked, "And what about Anastasia? Jeremy's going to be devastated."

"I stopped asking questions. The answers got scary. And he says that Anastasia can stay if she wants. But she'll probably follow him." Elena says as the two now stood on the porch.

"Yours leaves, mine returns." Jenna tells her.

"Logan?"

"He's back." Jenna tells her. "I didn't let him pass the front door."

"Hope you slammed it in his face." Elena tells her aunt.

"Ah, medium slam." Jenna tells her.

"Three strike rule, Jenna." Elena says, "You're not even allowed to watch the news."

"Exactly, no more Logan Scum Fell."

"SO, ANY idea where you'll go?" Stefan walked into the living room with his niece, finding Damon looking out of the window."

"I don't know. London, maybe." He says, "See some friends."

"You don't have an friends, Damon." Stefan says to him.

"You're right, Stefan. I only have you and my daughter." Damon turned to look at him, "So, where are we going?"

"We are not going anywhere." Stefan says, "I'm gonna live my life as far away from you as possible, and Eloise is probably going to stay here for a few years."

"But we're a team!" Says Damon, "We could travel the world together. We can try out for 'The Amazing Race'."

"That's funny." Stefan tells his brother, "Seriously, where are you going because we are not staying in this town."

The doorbell goes off and Anastasia walks towards it, pulling the door open to come face to face with Caroline's mom.

"I'm here to see Damon." The blonde tells the younger girl.

"Sure. Okay." She nods, "Dad!"

"Sheriff, what a surprise!" Damon comes up behind his daughter.

"Sorry to bother you but we need to talk." Liz tells him.

"What was that about?" Anastasia asked her uncle.

"I don't know." Stefan shrugged, "Back to the previous conversation."

"Uncle Stefan, I don't want to stay here if you're leaving." She tells him, crossing her arms over her chest, "I don't want to put Jeremy into any danger, more danger than what he's already been in."

"Anastasia, I haven't seen you as happy as you have been when you're with him." Stefan tells his niece, "If you want to stay, stay."

"DID I miss something?" Elena asked as the three girls walked down the hallway, noticing Matt and Caroline talking to each other.

"They've been hanging out." Anastasia smiled, "Matt's texted me all about it."

"Kind of weird, don't you think?" Elena asked.

"She needs someone nice like him as opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon." Bonnie said, pausing before she looked at Anastasia, "Sorry."

"Don't be. I totally agree." Anastasia said, "Dad can be a little--,"

"Dad?" Bonnie cuts her off in disbelief. "Damon is your dad?"

"Guess Elena left that part out." Anastasia looked down at her feet, "Yeah, Damon isn't Uncle Damon, Damon is Dad."

"How old is he exactly?"

"Him and Uncle Stefan were turned in 1864, I was four then. He was twenty-five." She tells the Bennett witch.

"How old are you now?"

"Appearance wise, seventeen. Human wise, 133."

"How are you with the whole vampire thing?" Elena asked.

"I'm freaked out. Damon attacked me and I could be dead right now, but I'm also grateful."

"Hmm?"

"To Stefan. He saved my life and....have you seen him?" Bonnie asked as they stopped at Elena's locker.

"Not since he told me he was leaving." Elena opened the metal door, "For all I know, he's probably gone."

"He wouldn't leave without saying goodbye."

"He's still here." Anastasia tells them.

"Yes, he would." Elena ignored his comment, "He thinks he's protecting me, clean break, and all that."

"So, what are you gonna do?" Bonnie asked.

"What am I supposed to do?" Elena asked, closing the door, "I've already begged him not to go. If I ask him, I'm being selfish. It is what it is."

"Maybe, it's for the best!" Bonnie tried to be positive for her best friend.

"What? Why?"

"I mean, what kind of future could you have with him even if he stayed?" Bonnie asked, just as the banner some kids where hanging fell in front of them.

"Promise your future."

"Did you just-,"

"No, I swear."

"Stacie?" Elena questioned the other witch.

"It wasn't me." She held her hands up in defense.

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

"SO YOU have no idea who it could be?" Elena asked Stefan after he came to tell her about the new vampire in town.

Stefan shakes his head, "None, but it must be somebody new because leaving a body like that, they're either sloppy or they're trying to send a message."

"And you're sure it's not Damon?" Elena asked.

"I'm never sure about Damon, but he's trying to keep a low profile so it just doesn't make any sense to me." Stefan tells her.

Elena hesitated for a moment before asking, "What about Anastasia?"

"She doesn't drink from the vain. She's been drinking from blood bags since the 70's."

"So, what are you going to do?" Asked Elena.

"Damon's tracking them right now. Look, I promised you the truth, so I wanna tell you." Stefan tells her, "I want you to be careful."

"When I saw you, I thought you were coming to say goodbye."

"Not yet."

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

"HEY, WHAT do you think?" Jeremy asked his aunt, holding up the sketch pas while Anastasia flicked through the channels on the TV.

"Creepy." Jenna tells him.

"I found this old journal in Dad's stuff -- Jonathan Gilbert from the 1800's." Jeremy tells her, "He's kind of a freak show. He wrote about demons and all of these people getting slaughtered
and-,"

"Yeah, he was a writer." Jenna sat on the back of the couch, "Short stories, horror stuff."

"Oh, he wrote fiction?" Jeremy asked, "Figured he was just a lunatic or drunk."

Jenna walked over to the bookshelf, pulling off a little book as she walked back towards the two, holding it out for Jeremy to take, "He was a Gilbert, probably a little bit of both."

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

"WHAT DO you want?" Tyler asked as Jeremy and Anastasia walked by the table he stood at, flipping through one of the books that held the art.

"Hey, uh, just surprised to see you here." Jeremy said, tightening the grip he had on Anastasia's hand, "Art usually implies culture and culture implies, eh, not you."

"Jer." Anastasia whispered harshly.

"Go to hell!" Tyler tells him before walking off.

"So, what do you want to do after high school?" Jeremy asked the girl next to him.

"Well, growing up, I wanted to be a doctor, I wanted to help people. But then something happened and I changed my mind." Anastasia shrugged, "Now, I just want to travel the world one day. Explore new places, learn new things."

"Where were you before you and Stefan moved her?"

"Seattle."

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

"I'M GUESSING you're not here to plan the path for your future." Elena leaned against a wall in one of the classrooms talking to Stefan.

Stefan looks down at his feet.

"You're looking out for me." Elena says.

"Hope that's okay."

Elena stayed quiet as she walked away from Stefan to look at more of the displays, Stefan following behind her.

"You know, I wanted to be a doctor." Stefan tells her, "So did Anastasia. Before everything happened, but, uh, then we couldn't, 'cause...."

"The blood."

"Yeah. Anastasia actually went to Harvard in 1899." Stefan says, Elena looking at him in shock. "Yep. She's a smart one, and not just because of her age. And I've dabbled in a bunch of different things, though."

"Didn't love anything enough to stick to it?" She asked.

"No, I - I loved it all." Stefan said, "I just - I had to move on before anybody could notice that I wasn't getting any older."

"How long before that would happen?"

"Few years, usually. Sometimes shorter."

Elena looked back at him, "And you always left."

Stefan shrugs, "I didn't have a choice. Anastasia didn't have a choice. So what about - what about you? What are your, uh, plans for the future?"

"I don't wanna talk about my future, Stefan, because everything you're saying is making it perfectly clear that you're not gonna be in it." She tells him.

"Elena, it's not that I don't wanna be in it."

"You can't. I get it." She says, "I heard you the first time and the second time, and I appreciate you looking out for me, but, please, if you're gonna leave, the just go."

Jenna walks into the classroom, "Hide me."

"What's going on?" Elena asked her aunt.

"The Sum Fell has landed." Jenna tells her.

"Logan's here?" Elena asked with a look.

Stefan looks at the two of them confused, "Wait. Logan Fell?"

Jenna nodded her head and Stefan walks out of the classroom, looking around for the man they in question, spotting him with a group of students.

"Stefan, what's going on?" Elena asked as she and Jenna come out of the classroom.

Logan walks over to them, "Jenna, are you dodging me?"

"It's a form of self-preservation." Jenna tells him.

"Uh, Elena, why don't you and Jenna go somewhere else." Stefan tells his ex-girlfriend, giving her a look.

"Let's go." Elena pulls her aunt away.

"What are you doin' here?" Stefan asked Logan after the two were out of hearing rang.

"You know, your brother asked me the same thing." Logan tells him, "In fact, why don't we just skip past all the who-turned-me stuff and get the answer that I want? How can I turn into a daywalker?"

"Damon, Anastasia and I are the only thee that I know of." Stefan tells him.

"But you're both very cagey on the how, which tells me that there is a way. You know, in case you hadn't noticed I'm quite the celebrity in this town. It would be very, very easy for me to expose you, and your niece while I'm at it.

"You wanna know how you can walk around in the sun?" Stefan asked him, jaw clenched tightly at the mention of his niece.

"I do."

"You can't." He tells him, "Don't ever threaten me again. Or my niece, because it won't be too pretty. On your side anyway. Anastasia isn't the one to.....go lightly on someone that threatens her or someone she loves. She'd have your heart on the outside of your chest before you could even blink."

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

ANASTASIA HAD no choice but to leave Jeremy's side when her uncle came down the hallway and pulled her away, telling the human boy that he could have her back after the two of them finished talking.

Now, the two stood outside the school, Stefan's phone on speaker with Damon after he had explained that the vampire that was roaming around just so happened to be Logan Fell.

"Logan Fell is a vampire and when I find him again, I am going to destroy him. Limb by limb."

"What happened? Are you okay?" Stefan asked his brother.

"No, I'm not okay! I was ambushed, I was shot. Now, I'm vengeful. Just got to find him."

"No need." Anastasia sighed as Elena walked over to them, "He's here at the school."

"You're kidding me? Why the hell is he there?"

"He's workin' the crowd." Stefan told him.

"Well, I'll be right there." Damon says before hanging up.

"This just keeps getting better and better." Anastasia sighed.

"So anything you'd like to share?" Elena asked the two.

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

"COME WITH me." Alaric gabbed Anastasia by the arm as she walked passed him in the hallway.

"What? Why?"

"Jeremy and that Lockwood kid were fighting, and some guy took them outside." Alaric tells her as the two walked toward the exit.

The two of them walked out the door to see Tyler's dad push Tyler into Jeremy.

"What's going on here?" Alaric called out as Anastasia rushed past them to make sure that both Jeremy and Tyler weren't hurt.

"We're fine." Jeremy mumbled, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Just letting these two kids work it out." Richard Lockwood told the history teacher, "We're good here. Go back inside."

"I don't wanna go back inside." Alaric tells him, "What I want is an answer to my question."

"Who do you think you're talkin' to?" Richard asked, "Do I look like a student?"

"No, you look like a full-grown, alpha male, douche bag." Alaric says.

The two teenage boys looked down at Anastasia as she let out a snort as Alaric's statement, both of them looking at her in amusement.

"You don't talk to me like that." Richard says, "I can have your job like this." He snapped his fingers.

Alaric chuckled, looking down before he looked back at the man in front of him, "Ah, you do that. Then it'll be you and me in this parking lot working things out. You cool with that?"

"Just watch yourself." Richard, looking at his son before the two of them left.

Alaric turns to Jeremy, finding the two teenagers hugging as they look at him, "You alright?"

"Just when I though you couldn't be more attractive." Anastasia smirked, "Jenna better watch out. I might have to steal you from her."

"Stacie!" Jeremy looked down at her in disbelief as Alaric lets out a laugh.

"What? I was just saying what I was thinking."

❱ 🌿⋆。˚

ANASTASIA WALKED out of Jeremy and Elena's bathroom, towel drying her hair.

Her uncle had called her and told her what happened with Logan and Caroline, telling her that everything was okay, he was getting a ride from Elena and that she should just stay the night with Jeremy for the night.

"So, which movie is it tonight?" Jeremy asked once she was laying on his bed.

"Hhm, doesn't matter." She shrugged as he sat next to her, going through the box of movies that he had, "Actually, I have an idea that's better than a movie."

"Yeah? And what's that?" He turned his head to look at her, breath hitching in the back of his throat as he noticed how close the two of them were.

"Kiss me."

"A - are you sure?"

With a slight roll of her eyes, Anastasia grabbed the sides of Jeremy's face and pulled his lips to meet hers.

For a moment, the boy sat frozen in his spot before he finally kissed the Salvatore girl back.

Pulling away, the two of them stared at each other before Jeremy kissed her again, this time harder than the last kiss they shared, both of them falling back into his mess of sheets.
