I was getting ready to go on a supply run with Daryl, sorting through stuff we may need. I slammed the trunk closed as he walked over. "Ready?" I nodded. "Yeah." I walked over to the passenger side, opening the door and getting in. Eugene opened the gate then walked over towards my window. "I mapped out some of the agricultural supply places in the area." He announced, handing me a map. "Even if they've been cleaned out, my bet is that the sorghum would be untouched. Now, that there is a criminally underrated grain." "Alright." I took the map from his hands, scanning it. Daryl drove off, looking over towards me.ย
"You think we're gonna get lucky?" I asked. ย "I don't know. We haven't seen anybody in weeks.. Might be a good thing." He kept his gaze fixed on the window. I reached into the center console and pulled out a CD. "Don't. Don't. Please, don't." He begged, playfully. I ignored him and flipped the radio on, turning on music. He scoffed and rolled his eyes. "You'll be fine!" I yelled over the now blasting music.

We went to the barn first, the word "Sorghum" plastered over the door. "Think this is the right place?" I joked, walking around to a smaller door. "Hope so." He responded, opening the big garage door. I ran over, my gun out just in case. There was a large truck inside, with a ton of supplies. "I think we just got lucky." I announced, hopping into the truck and scanning what supplies were there. "Let's take this 'n come back for the car later." I hopped out of the truck, nodding in agreement. He walked over to the drivers side, and ย I grabbed the large hiking book bag I packed in the car, tossing it into the back with everything else. I slammed the door shut, locking it and going to the passenger seat.ย
We drove off, stopping by an old gas station. I followed Daryl to a flipped over vending machine. "Give me a hand with this." I looked at him, confused. "Seriously?" But I still helped him. We tried out best to flip it over, but failed. "Somethin' Denise wanted." He crossed his arms and looked at it. "I got an idea." And he walked away, taking some chains from the truck and tying it around the vending machine. I slowly drove, while Daryl stood there. Once it was flipped over he gave me a hand signal and I got out, coming back over.ย
"Lucky again." I said, leaning against the vending machine. Suddenly I felt a body slam into me. I hit my chest against the machine, barely catching myself. I grabbed my gun and aimed it at the figure who had just tried to attack me. "Back up! Now!" Daryl yelled, his gun aimed right on his forehead. "Woah.. I was just running from the dead." He explained, as I slowly stepped back. "How many?" I asked, trying to see if I could see the walkers he was talking about. "Ten, maybe more." He responded. "Where?!" I didn't see any in the small field behind the gas station.
"About a half a mile back." I came back, looking him up and down. I lowered my gun, putting back in my waistband. Daryl kept his gun there, I gave him a little nudge and he lowered it. "Got a camp?" The man asked. He had a cloth covering his face, and a beanie covering his head. "No." Daryl answered. "Do you?" I crossed my arms, still a little shaken up. "No." He sighed. "Sorry for running into you, I'm gonna go now." He started to walk away.
"Hey, who are you?!" I yelled, causing him to turn back one last time. "Paul Rovia. But my friends used to call me Jesus." I walked up to him. "And you're alone?" He nodded. "Best not to try anything though." Daryl came up behind me. "Best not to make threats you can't keep either." I wasn't surprised he responded. "I'm Esmรฉ and this is Daryl." I announced and he ran away. I stood there, watching him. He was weird, this whole encounter was weird. Then it got even weirder as gunshots echoed behind us. I grabbed my gun, running over. ย
Firecrackers in a tin can, not guns. "Firecrackers." I mumbled, lowering my gun. "Shit." He mumbled, running away as I followed him. "You lock the truck?" He yelled back, not stopping. "Fuck!" I groaned, grabbing my gun, yet again.ย
And there he was, driving off with the vending machine dragging behind. "Goddammit!" I slowly came to a stop in the middle of the road. "Cant just let 'em get away." He stood beside me and I looked over. "You seriously think we should run after it?" I questioned, wiping the sweat that was dripping down my forehead. "Wont be hard to track." I gave a reluctant nod.ย
So we ran. We ran straight down the road, stopping when we saw the vending machine lying in the middle. I stopped and took a breath, resting my arms on my knees. Daryl took a crowbar and broke the glass, taking a bag of chips and two sodas. He held one up. "Got it." He gave a forced grin, handing opening it and drinking some. After a few seconds he handed me it, and I held it up to my lips taking a large sip. I handed it back and he finished it. After our little "break" he stuffed the rest of the snacks in his bag. "Still got a trail." He mumbled, looking down the road. "Let's go." I sighed. Soย we ran, some more.

We came across an intersection and turned right, and went up a hill where Daryl slowed down. We slowly walked up, and there he was. Stopped in the middle of the road going through our supplies. We ran through the woods, separating once we were in a clear shot of him. Daryl ran over to him, holding him still. I ran to the door, getting in. I waited for Daryl to get in his side, but he didn't. I looked out the window, only to see Jesus running towards me. He opened the door and threw me out. It knocked the wind out of me, so as I was struggling to catch my breath, Daryl ran over and tackled him. Daryl held his gun to Jesus's as I stumbled over. "You ok?" He asked, not looking up. "Yeah." I groaned, my voice raspy. "The keys." Daryl demanded, his voice a low growl. "I know what to do." And I walked away, grabbing rope from Daryl's bag. I tossed it to him and he tied Jesus up.ย
"You're seriously gonna leave me?" He asked Daryl. "Knots aren't that tight, you'll be able to get free." He finished and walked over. I got into the drivers side, and ย he tossed me the keys. Daryl got a soda out of his bag and I started the engine. He rolled down his window and I looked at him confused. "What're you-" but I was cutoff when he yelled "So long, you prick!" And flipped him off. ย I gave a soft giggle and elbowed him. "That's one way to say bye." I mumbled sarcastically.

"And we're still lucky!" I giggled, turning on the radio as he munched on his snacks. "Hey, there's a barn." I noted as I drove forward. As we drove through the bumpy field I heard a loud ย thud, followed by some banging. I turned the volume down, and realized it was coming from the roof. "Think he's on the roof." Daryl looked out the window. "How the hell..?" My voice trailed off in disbelief. I slammed on the brakes and watched as a slim figure fell forward. "You were right." I watched as he ran off. I immediately drive after him, picking up speed rather fast. I heard the door open and looked over as Daryl started to climb out. "Daryl!" I yelled, but it was too late because he was already on the ground, chasing him.ย
I drive as close as I could without hitting them. I came to a stop around the lake as I ran towards the two. "I got 'em!" Daryl yelled. I nodded and directed my attention to some walkers that had been roaming around. I took out my knife, quickly killing two of the three. Jesus and Daryl were now in the truck, as it started to roll back. "Get out!" I yelled, running over.ย
I watched as it slowly sunk below the surface. "Goddammit! Fucking, bitch!" I mumbled under my breath as I ran over to Jesus, who was now on the ground. The truck was gone, thanks to some idiot who had tried to steal our stuff. "Let's go check out the cars." He suggested as he slowly walked away. "We can't just leave 'em here." I stood up, taking a step back. "Fine." He grumbled and turned around, walking towards him as I stood and watched. "You get a car, drive it over here." He looked at me, shaking his head. "We aren't taking him back." I plastered a large fake frown on my face and looked at him. "But we can't leave him here.." He rolled his eyes. "Whatever, I'll be right back." He walked away, towards the cars.ย
