erena broke into a wide grin as she ran up and jump-hugged the setter who's face turned into a tomato. "i missed you, you know!"

"i missed you too," he said softly.

it was a friday afternoon and the karasuno boy's volleyball club had arrived after school. as expected, erena had patiently waited for them, especially kageyama, at the vending machine.

the volleyball club (who had watched their interaction) broke into small laughs at the rare sight of kageyama being affectionate. erena joined in laughing too.

kageyama scowled at his team. "b-be quiet! shut up, hinata you dumbass!"

"it wasn't just me," hinata yelled.

sugawara intervened, being a classic mum and stopping the argument before it got any further. "now, now, let's not trouble oikawa-san with your argument. everyone, let's go back to the gym and review our plays with coach ukai and takeda-sensei. kageyama, you're welcome to stay and chat with your girlfriend."

"we're not dating!" the two chorused in unison.

"you couldn't resist adding that last part, could you?" daichi face-palmed.

sugawara shrugged. "what can i say? it's soon to be true, isn't it? ah, to be young and in love."

"you're talking as if you're an old man!" tanaka laughed. "you know, it quite fits your grey hair!"

"the grey hair from stress that you caused!"

kageyama watched as the volleyball team walked out of sight, a fond look on his face. noticing this, erena smiled. "you really like it here, don't you?"

"yeah," kageyama replied, and erena was surprised that he admitted it so openly. "yeah, i really like it here at karasuno. with the team. with that moron hinata. with you."

erena laughed lightly, her cheeks pink. "were you insulting or complimenting hinata?"

"both, dumbass."

erena laughed again. "anyways, i've thought of something small to do tomorrow to celebrate your return!"

"i was only gone for a week," kageyama rolled his eyes, but secretly touched.

"shut up, i know you're happy about this," erena winked. "as for tomorrow, you'll have to wait and see what it is."

"tell me, erena you dumbass!"

"no can do, yamayama-kun," erena said cheekily before skipping into the distance, excitement bubbling in her chest.
