Bethany Denbrough was sitting on her brother's bed. She was intently watching Bill fold together a paper boat. Even though she had a photographic memory, she could never quite master the art of boat making. She knew exactly what to do and how to do it, but it never quite worked out.
"Sure I won't get in trouble, Bill?" Georgie asked, turning away from the window.
There was a faint smiley face drawn on the window and Beth couldn't help but giggle at it. "D-don't be a w-w-wuss," Bill stuttered.
Bill has always had a stutter. He hated it and never quite got rid of it. It wasn't as bad as it was when they were younger. Nowadays it only got in the way of what he was saying if he was worked up. He was teased in school for it, but Beth loved it. It set her brother apart from everyone.
"We would go with you if we weren't dying," Bethany explained, adding a fake cough before the word dying.
Georgie stood up and walked over to the bed. He let out a huge huff of air, "You're not dying!"
"You didn't see the v-vomit coming out of our noses this morning," Bill stated, looking towards his sister.
Bethany nodded her head, "Yeah dude it was like a river this morning. Don't wanna end up like us."
"That's disgusting," the youngest Denbrough grimaced. He walked closer to the bed, looking down at the paper boat.
"Okay. Go get the w-wax," the oldest child stated.
Georgie looked towards the door and then back to the twins, "In the cellar?"
Bill nodded his head, "You want it to f-float don't you?"
Georgie looked to the ground and heaved a sigh, "Fine."
The little boy grabbed a walkie-talkie off of the desk and walked out of the door. Bethany focused her attention back onto the boat.
"It's missing something," She stated, jumping off the bed and grabbing a marker.
Bill gave her the boat and the girl wrote the words 'S.S. Georgie' on the side of it. Her older brother was looking over her shoulder, smiling.
"Nice touch," he complemented.
"I know I'm the best," Beth shrugged.
They both looked at each other and started into a fit of laughter. They always did that. For no reason at all giggles would suddenly escaped the twins lips and they would cry of laughter.
Once the laughs ceased Bethany rolled her eyes, "He is taking to long, call him on the damn talkie."
Bill got up and grabbed to other half to the set. Pushing down on the button he spoke, "Georgie, hurry up."
No response came as Bill slid off his jacket. He walked over to the bed and glanced at his sister. She was now focused back on Bill's sketchbook.
She was flipping through the pages of the art work. Bethany was always admiring his art work. Bill drew everyone, and he was amazing at it too. Bethany wasn't into drawing, as she preferred science, but she had to gawk at Bill's sketchbook.
She looked up once she heard loud footsteps stomping up the stairs. Georgie ran in with the can of wax and Bill sat down. Handing the can over, Georgie hugged his brother. The oldest child then went to work on making the paper boat waterproof.
A few minutes later Bill handed over the freshly cover boat, "There you go. S-s-she is all ready captain."
"She?" Georgie questioned, his innocence showing through.
"You always call a boat a 'she'," Beth stated while standing up straight.
"She," Georgie repeated with a smile, "Thanks Billy."
The youngest brother hugged the oldest tightly. A few seconds later he walked over to his sister and embraced her as well.
"You just be careful out there okay," Bethany stated, hugging her brother tight.
They let go and all three of the siblings started to laugh. "See you later, bye," Georgie called out.
He then left the room and Bethany flopped back onto the bed. "Gotta love our little brother," she sighed.
"Yeah h-he's awesome," Bill agreed, flopping on the bed besides his sister.
Bethany turned her head to face her twin, "Are we all meeting up here tonight?"
Bill nodded his head, "Yeah they all s-should be here a-around f-f-five."
The twins always had a little clique. It only consisted of five people. And those four others besides Bethany were her greatest friends in the world.
Of course one of the members was her brother: Bill. Bill was artsy and had a stutter. He defended his friends and always tried to be kind to people; the thing he held onto in life was his family and friends.
Another member was Stanley Uris. He was a Jewish kid who dreaded his Bar mitzvah. He was a mostly quiet kid but occasionally created great comebacks. He was scared to death of a creepy painting in his dad's church.
Eddie Kaspbrak was the smallest of the group. He was also the germ freak. His mother always had him on medication that he didn't need and he was scared to go near anything that consisted of dirt and allergies. However he was a sweet kid and one of Bethany's closet friends.
Last but not least, the final member of the group was Richie Tozier. He was witty and brave; always having something sexual to say about any situation. He always made jokes and always talked about how he was the shit. The Trashmouth if you will. Terrified of clowns, would never go near one. He may or may not also have the hugest crush on Bethany. Well everyone had a crush on her, but Richie most of all. But being Bill's sister: she was off limits.
Bethany smiled at Bill's answer and rolled onto her stomach. They played games and awaited for their friends to arrive, but their little sleep over was called off when police cars rolled up to the house. They came bearing the worse news that the twins could have ever heard. Their small, innocent, baby brother had gone missing. And no one knew where the kid had went.
