The week had come faster than expected for the group of sophomores. Ironically it had started off with a poisonous gas attack at the Mall.
They had been trying to hunt down leads but the only thing that they had theorized so far was that there was a meta human that could turn into poisonous gas.
It was frustrating them to their core but there wasn't much they could do. They had realized that the Streak, that's what the city was calling him now, had more resources than them as he usually got leads before the group of teens did.
✦✧✦✧
Homecoming was four weeks away and the students at Central City high could be more excited.
Some others weren't as excited as the rest, those included the Allegiance team. They were more focused on getting through sophomore year and protecting the city than worrying about poofy dresses and black and white tuxedos.
Everyday they would see Homecoming proposals every day. In the halls, the middle of class, libraries and lunch.
Even if they were to go, they'd most definitely go as a group. It was just easier that way.
Gia had rather fidgety the entire week. She had gotten a call from Saoirse, her mother saying that she'd be here by the weekend.
She was extremely excited but more nervous than expected. It would be the first time in 8 years since she had seen the woman.
Genesis on the other hand couldn't care less. She wasn't as enthusiastic about seeing her birth mother as much as her siblings were.
Grayson had been asking multiple questions about her knowing that his sister was the last to see her before she had to leave.
Gia answered them gladly. That only caused Gina's attitude towards her sister to become worse than expected. Gina and Grayson had been staying with Gia for the past month because their parents had been busy traveling for work.
Flores and Cory had told their children to behave and to be nice. They had witnessed multiple times how unkind Gina could be to Gia and had scolded her multiple times but it never made a difference all it did was make the triplet angrier.
Rosalie had told the Queen twins about her dilemma and they said they'd talk to their brother back in Starling to find out some now information. They too didn't know about Sara's demise.
✦✧✦✧
Gina and Rosalie walked into the cafeteria holding a file of notes. Gina was explaining the biology notes for the test they had the following Monday.
Gina watched from the table she usually sat at with her group of friends. She glared at her triplet as the grip on her plastic fork tightened.
"Oh, Hanna Emma, Bailey, and I are doing a study session at my place on Friday if you want to come feel free." Gia suggested to her friend.
"Yess please, thank you. I'll be there." Rosalie assured the girl before they parted their ways.
After paying for her chicken avocado salad she sat with the group she had mentioned earlier as well Adira.
Not to far from them on the same table Cassie, Xander, Ashton and Luisa sat together as they ate.
Venus and the rest of the boys were spending lunch in the library.
"So I over heard Joe a few days ago and I heard something." Cassie told the group.
"Go on tell them..." Xander said as he nudged the girl making her giggle.
"Okay...okay. So I overheard Joe, he was going through some of the evidence of my moms case and I think he might be reopening the case." Cassie told the group, catching her breathe in the first part.
"Oh my word that's amazing." Ashton exclaimed.
"Yeah Cas, let's hope he finds the son of a bitch." Luisa told her friend.
"That's the other thing I want to talk to you guys about." She started as her face turned into a frown.
"Babe, what's wrong?" Xander asked his girlfriend.
"Um...I...uh" she mumbled before feeling her boyfriends hand take her hand from underneath the table, calming her down. "I have a bad feeling about the Streak. I remember how Barry told me about the night mom died. He said that my mom was about to put me to sleep when he came down stairs after hearing the sounds from downstairs. He said that my mom in the middle of it holding me telling Barry and my dad to stay away. Then my dad told Barry to run next thing he knows he's like over 5 blocks away from our house. Holding me. When he eventually got back my mom was dead and my dad was getting arrested." Cassie explained to the group.
"So you're saying that the Streak was involved in your moms murder?" Ashton asked the girl.
"Well no but he has powers like the man in yellow. That's why I'm having a bad feeling about him."
"If he's in any way a bad guy we'll take him down." Xander assured as he pulled Cassie into a side hug.
Luisa sat across them fiddling her thumbs underneath the table. She still hadn't told her best friend of the events that had happened weeks ago in the Bunker. When the man in yellow who happened to be Vincent's boss. She had told the other people that were there that day that she'd be the one to break the news to her and the rest of the team.
✦✧✦✧
The rest of the day went smoothly. Classes finished off faster than expected and the team had all gone their separate ways seeing that they hadn't gotten any leads they decided to meet up later in the evening.
Cassie was in her room doing homework with an earphone in her right ear with the iconic tunes of Artic Monkeys AM album playing. Bailey was hanging out at Gia's.
She was softly humming to the songs before Joe knocked on her door.
"Come in!" She answered before the detective walked in.
"Hey Joe, what's up?" She asked him as she turned in her seat.
"I'm going down to Iron Heights to talk to your dad. Wanna come?" He offered the girl.
"Yes! I'll be downstairs in a minute." She told him before he left the room.
She closed her notebook and put her pens back into her pencil case. She grabbed a red jumper and put on her boots she had worn to school that day before grabbing her phone and running down stairs.
After only a couple minutes they reached the penitentiary. They walked through the halls until they reached the front desk.
"Here to see Henry Allen." Joe told the guard.
"Sign here, personal effects here." The guard responded flatly before Joe took out his keys, gun and a few other items and placed them in the plastic box.
Cassie did the same before they were let into the visiting rooms.
Only a few moments later Henry Allen walked through the doors, his face brightening at the sight of his daughter who smiled back.
"Hey Cas. Joe." Henry greeted as he spoke into the phone.
"Hey dad." Cassie responded to her father.
"Cassie I need to speak to your father for a moment." Joe told the blonde.
"Oh yeah sure of course." Cassie said before putting the phone back in its place and stranding up and walking to the other side of the room.
The two talked for a couple minutes and from what she saw the conversation was going well.
That was until the guard in the room started to choke on a green gas.
Oh shit... the gas meta! Cassie thought to herself before she tried to run foward to protect Joe.
"Cassie no!" Joe and Henry both yelled before the blonde felt herself get thrown into the wall behind her, landing on the ground. Knocked out.
Joe immediately stood up to try help the girl but the gas formed infront of him. Words of agression were exchanged before Kyle Nimbus turned back into a gas and entered Joe's lungs before leaving the room. Joe shaking violently on the floor and Cassur knocked out on the other side of the room.
Only a few seconds later the Blur arrived and immediately injected a syringe of the antidote in Joe before checking the pulse of the passed out girl. He then went back to Joe who told him to go after the criminal and that he'd take care of Cassie.
✦✧✦✧
Only a few hours later Cassie groaned as her eyes fluttered open. She looked around the room and immediately recognized it, she was in the hospital.
Joe, Bailey, Barry, Xander, Hanna, Iris and Valerie immediately ran over when they saw the girl sit up.
"Ow...what happened?" She said as she rubbed her the back of her head.
"You fell and hit your head." Barry told the girl, she knew he was lying but she decided to keep quiet.
"Yeah you were unconscious for a few hours." Joe continued as the girl nodded her head.
"You just have a mild concussion and I recommend you rest for 5 days and no after school activities for a week at the most. Ice packs on the painful area for a few minutes at a time." Valerie told the girl.
"Thank you Dr Queen." Iris said to the woman.
"Anytime and say hi to the twins for me." Valerie said with a smile before leaving them to their privacy.
Bailee said something to her father before the adults left the room.
"Okay...what really happened?" Bailey asked her.
"The gas Meta came after Joe, I tried to get infront him...then the bastard threw me into a wall." Cassie said as she placed the ice pack on the back of her head.
"Is your head still sore?" Xander asked as rubbed the back of her other hand.
"Yeah I honestly don't know why. Maybe some injuries take longer to speed heal than others." Cassie told the group.
"Yeah, maybe. But other than that something else is going on in this city and it most definitely has something to do with that Streak guy." Hanna told the group who agreed.
