a/n and we are back to the present time. sorry for that interruption. enjoy some quality kurooaka and akaken from here on.
akaashi felt his sleepy form being shaken out of the slumber, honestly felt like someone was rocking him back and forth. quite hypnotizing and relaxing, so why would he open his eyes? he felt like a lone sailor on a boat, the small waves rocked his vessel as the scorching sun burned his face - he hadn't drunk fresh water in days and his mouth was parched.
"akaashi..." he heard a faint voice coming from somewhere and yet he was still far from land. perhaps it was a rescuing ship coming for him, perhaps he should open his eyes even if the sun burns his retinas. and so, akaashi did just that. he opened his eyes and met a pair of hazel ones. a strong hand was placed on his waist, the same one that rocked him back and forth.
"time to wake up," kuroo said, his voice felt like a cool breeze washing over akaashi's hot sailor body. the smell of cheap coffee and pancakes entered akaashi's lungs and he sat up in his bed, yawning and stretching his limbs.
"good morning kuroo," he said in his raspy morning voice as he extended his arms out and let out a squeal - stretching felt good.
"morning sweetpea. i made breakfast" kuroo said. he got off akaashi's bed and watched in awe as akaashi emerged from under his blankets, shirtless.
"thank you, you're the best" akaashi smiled at kuroo before yawning once again. his eyes had yet to focus on that electronic clock on the wall. making out time was harder than it seemed. "what time is it?" akaashi asked, too lazy to look for his glasses.
"it's almost eleven a.m. yes, i didn't wake you up earlier. you looked too cute to wake up" kuroo chuckled. akaashi felt his cheeks heating up as he turned away from kuroo. flirting first thing in the morning? and making breakfast? what is he, the romance master?
"i'm gonna go wash my face real quick," akaashi said before bolting out of the room and into the shared dorm bathroom. first, of course, he went to the actual bathroom and conducted his morning duties and then finally approached the sink and splashed his water with the ice-cold water that it provided.
what happened last night? oh yes, after akaashi agreed to start dating kuroo and kenma, kenma had no intentions of leaving early and made kuroo fetch some drinks and snacks for them. they spent hours talking and laughing about various things, just getting comfortable to an already comfy atmosphere of them three - after all, that's how it will be now.
them three.
akaashi still had a hard time wrapping his head around it. he was... in a relationship right now. that did not feel real. just yesterday he was single and now today he is committed. how does one come to feel like they are in a relationship anyway? as akaashi splashed his face again he looked at himself in the mirror.
he knew he was handsome. he grew to love himself over the years, and especially with support from his family akaashi was able to bloom and be himself. his morning hair was a mess though, and he had bags under his eyes. there was an annoying pimple on his forehead, hiding and he had to take care of his eyebrows - yet kuroo and kenma saw the beauty in that too.
as akaashi inhaled deeply, he placed his hand over his heart, feeling the elevated heartbeat. it feels nice to be wanted and appreciated. he knew that once he comes back, kuroo will not hesitate to show him, love, he was very affectionate. and... it felt so nice and so warm to know that someone is waiting for you.
"okay!" akaashi slapped his own cheeks with his hands. "let's go and finally be happy!" he said to himself. he walked back into the room to see kuroo by their table, two cups of coffee and two plates of pancakes - a breakfast of gods. akaashi made a mental note for himself to finally unleash the affectionate beast inside of him and show kuroo and kenma that he was taking this as seriously as they were.
it might feel a bit weird at first, but akaashi knew - there was a reason why he always tensed up around them. as he walked closer to kuroo, whose back was facing him, he felt his heartbeat increasing. finally, as he reached the taller male, akaashi gently placed his hand on kuroo's shoulder and leaned down to place a soft kiss on his forehead.
"thank you for making all this" akaashi whispered. he could see the tips of kuroo's ears getting redder by the second.
"o-oh, no problem. please, sit down and eat with me" kuroo stumbled over his words a bit but picked himself up quickly. akaashi slid into the chair and felt a drool escaping as he looked at his plate. the plate was stacked with nice pancakes, drizzled with syrup and caramel, with fresh berries and whipped cream on the side.
"i might marry you just for making me these pancakes" akaashi blurted out before grabbing the fork and digging in. kuroo, meanwhile, sat still and stared at akaashi with wide-eyes surprised at how much a person can change when you start dating them. in a good way, of course.
"you know i'd say yes to that, right?" kuroo raised an eyebrow at akaashi who was busy shoving down an entire pancake down his throat.
"mhm," akaashi mumbled.
"so... hate to do this so early, but i have good news and bad news" kuroo finally said as he put his phone down on the table and looked at akaashi once again. "which one do you want first?"
akaashi gulped down what he had in his mouth and looked at kuroo with a pained expression. "please don't make me choose", he said.
"you have to" kuroo seemed serious. did they have enough of him in only one day? did they decide that he wasn't worthy of their love already?
"uh, bad news..." akaashi watched kuroo sigh with a serious expression on his face.
"well... kenma got carried away last night and forgot he had an important meeting today. you won't be able to meet up with him today, sorry" kuroo said almost apologetically, though under his voice his some other emotions. glee maybe?
"and the good news?" akaashi watched as a bright smile plastered on kuroo's face.
"good news is that i am taking over kenma's place and you are going on a date with me. i'm taking you out for some fun" kuroo finally spilled. oh so that's why he seemed so happy.
"oh! well that's good!" akaashi cheered, trying to match kuroo's enthusiam. "we know each other well, i think. but i guess it would be nice to get to know you more closely. we never got too personal"
"yeah, that's what i was thinking too!" kuroo exclaimed. "though, apart from all those times we, uh, went to shower together"
"hey, save water, shower together, right?" akaashi winked at kuroo before downing his last pancake, licking his lips as he swallowed it. ah, what a great morning.
"oh, you have some cream left on your cheek" kuroo pointed out.
"oh my, is this the cliche scene from a movie?" akaashi chuckled before turning to kuroo and leaning forward. "c'mon, carry out the scene. i know you want to"
kuroo bit the corner of his lip as he smirked. his hand reached out and he wiped the cream off of akaashi's cheek with his thumb, before bringing it to his own mouth and licking it off. "well, happy?" he followed up, seeing the amusement and bewilderment on akaashi's face.
"extremely" akaashi whispered. he fell back into his seat and sighed. "why didn't kenma tell me himself?"
"he will, he told me in advance. he said he doesn't want to disappoint you" kuroo explained.
"awh, baby. i would never be mad at him" akaashi thought outloud. they spent some more time drinking coffee and talking about university and so forth, glad that they were on break. the morning, or almost midday, went by so smoothly that akaashi didn't even notice how quickly he was getting accustomed to being committed to someone.
any thoughts of anyone else no longer went into his head. he was too focused watching kuroo explain something, some thesis he was working on, he cracked his knuckles occasionally. he would sigh every few sentences to express his annoyance. it was nice to finally have someone.
"well. let's not sit around for too long. i wanna take you to many places and make our first date worth remembering. so, you should search for some clothes" kuroo suddenly said and stood up, taking his and akaashi's empty cups to the other smaller table by the fridge.
"oh! okay!" akaashi panicked slightly. he stood up and rushed to the closet to find some clothing. "anything specific i have to wear? or can i just wear anything?"
"we'll be outside most of the time, so put on something that will keep you warm. other than that, you look amazing in everything you wear. i have no rights to give you commands" kuroo said, now sitting on his bed.
akaashi didn't reply, but kuroo knew how he felt just by seeing the red tint on his still exposed shoulders. yes, he was still shirtless even after all this time. he didn't see a need to put on anything else. as he scoured the closet, akaashi set his eyes on a few pieces of clothing.
this was going to be a good day.
