"ayesha ellis seymour!"
the young woman's words rang down the hall, making ayesha go pale for a split second.
"what?" called out ayesha from her room.
"what the hell did i say about getting acting gigs without my permission?!" regina shrieked, her voice piercing her younger sister's ears.
"calm down. you just hate to see another girl succeed."
"this is serious! i'm being serious right now!" ayesha almost let up with her nonchalant facade, but she kept calm.
"and?"
"and?!" regina practically screamed, "look, i'd probably be less mad if you were some..- some extra, some background character. but this?! you went and auditioned for a movie, and you got a leading role!"
ayesha paused, mulling over her next few words.
"shouldn't you be happy about that?"
"should-" the young woman inhaled sharply, "should i be happy about that?" she repeated, her face getting red.
"this is like- ayesha, what the actual fuck is 'secret headquarters'?"
ayesha shrugged, "a superhero movie."
"okay. but.. like.. who's directing it? who's producing it? is it a marvel movie? dc? like, what?"
"it's being distributed by paramount, and owen wilson's in it!" ayesha said, perking up as if owen wilson being in the movie would help.
"okay, yeah, famous people are in shitty movies all the time. not an excuse."
"how do you know it's gonna be shitty?"
"i can just tell. seriously, they couldn't have chosen a better title? it just sounds lame."
"well, sorry, i couldn't get a featured role in.. gilmore girls. sorry, i couldn't be in, uhm, fuckin', requiem for a dream."
regina inhaled sharply, clenching her fists and pointing a finger at ayesha.
"you know what? i'm leaving, you can go be in your stupid action movie, that's probably gonna bomb in the box office. i don't care, and for your information, i will not be driving you to any of your stupid fucking rehearsals."
and with that, regina exited the young girl's room, slamming the door behind her, leaving ayesha alone with her thoughts.
"fine! i don't care! i'll call an uber! i don't need you!" she spat out.
she slumped down in a chair, sitting down at her desk, letting out a breath she didn't even know she was holding.
"stupid bitch." she grumbled.
ayesha picked up her phone that was sitting on the table, and of course, it was dead.
ayesha decided that spending all her time in her room would do her no good, for all that time she's spent inside, she might as well just live in her bedroom.
the girl begrudgingly got up from her chair, and stomped to her older sister's room, her only goal was to bother her.
she glanced around the cluttered room, clothes taking up the floor leaving little space, posters covering her walls, and even more mountains of clothes on her bed.
regina had probably either seen or heard ayesha come in, as regina was sitting at her vanity mirror doing her makeup.
"what do you want?"
"i don't understand why you're so mad." ayesha began, "i think secret headquarters will be a good thing for me, i barely get any leading roles, let alone callbacks."
"can you just drop it?" the older sister scoffed, "i'm not mad anymore, i'll drive you to your little rehearsal thingies." she sighed, putting her mascara bottle away. despite her messy room, her vanity desk was surprisingly clean.
ayesha frowned, she was expecting more of a fight, more attitude, more arguing. ayesha sighed, "okay."
"but, like, i can't drive you anywhere next thursday, i have an interview then."
ayesha sighed again, and nodded her head, "okay."
"now, go away. my boyfriend'll be here any second now."
"connor?"
"no, no, the other one."
ayesha sighed once more, before leaving regina's room, haphazardly shutting the door behind her.
she went down the hall, and back to her room, deciding she would spend her time on her phone, although she needed to charge it first.
as ayesha plugged her phone up, she thought to herself.
what if regina is right? and this movie does bad? hopefully it doesn't.. but it really does seem like it might.
ayesha flinched as she felt a slight vibration from her desk, and realized that it was her phone.
she checked her notification, she had been tagged in an instagram post? weird, she barely has any followers, let alone posts on her own account.
she checked the post she was tagged in, and,
oh. thankfully it was nothing important, it was just the cast list for secret headquarters. but ayesha would be lying if she said she wasn't at the very least disappointed.
she studied the post and something caught her attention.
'WALKER SCOBELL AS CHARLIE KINCAID'
she looked at the boy's photo, and although he didn't seem anything special, ayesha was still interested. luckily he'd be her co-star, that'd make it easy for her to get to know him.
