Hell House.
Dean was bored and that just means that chaos was about to ensue for Sam and Athena. First, it was in the motel room. Athena was napping on the couch, peacefully.
Small giggles are heard, causing Athena to open her eyes. Her vision was blurred, but she could see a figure in front of her. She pulls her brows together, her vision clearing. Athena sees Dean step away from her.
"What?" Athena says in a groggy tone. "What are you doing?"
Dean frowns, "Nothing--nothing. Just checking if you were breathing."
Athena rolls her eyes. She folds her arms and closes her eyes, going back to sleep once again.
Dean smiles mischievously and hides the sharpie in his pocket.
Now, they were back on the road and Sam was sleeping, peacefully.
"You're being stupid."
"It's only stupid if it doesn't work out."
A small huff comes from Athena's lips. "I didn't say that this was stupid. I said you were being stupid."
"Oh." Dean frowns. He turns back to Athena. "Now, that's just mean."
Dean sticks the spoon in Sam's mouth. He looks at Athena and she was just annoyed.
"Oh, come on. How do you not find this funny?" Dean raises his brows. He looks back at the road.
Athena rolls her eyes and sinks in her seat.
Dean lets out a breath and grabs his phone, "Here--at least, take a picture of him."
"No."
"Athenaaaa--"
"Deeannnn." Athena's frustration grows.
Dean hears the hint of aggression in her voice and he holds a hand out in a surrendering manner. "Okay, fine. Party pooper..."
Dean points the phone at Sam and snaps a picture. He looks at the picture and stifles out a laugh. Dean shows the picture to Athena and she raises her brows. Athena rolls her lips into her mouth, to contain her smile. Dean notices. Athena clears her throat, "You're being immature."
"I am being fun."
Dean increases the volume to the radio and Athena sticks her fingers into her ears. Sam jolts awake and snatches the spoon from his mouth. He looks over at Dean and squints his eyes. Sam looks at Athena and she shrugs. He sighs, leans forward, and turns the volume down.
"Haha. Very funny." Sam huffs.
"Sorry." Dean laughs. "Not a lot of scenery here in East Texas--you kind of got to make your own."
"Man, we're not kids anymore, Dean." Sam states. He slightly turns his head to Athena and she pulls her brows together. "I mean...some of us aren't."
"What's your point?" Dean questions.
"He doesn't want to start that immaturity again." Athena voices.
"Start what up?"
"That prank stuff," Sam clarifies. "It's stupid, and it always escalates."
"Oh, what's the matter, Sammy? Afraid you're gonna get a little Nair in your shampoo again, huh?" Dean laughs, looking at Sam.
Athena sighs.
Sam inhales a breath, but he then scoffs. "All right. Just remember, you started it."
"Oh, bring it on, baldy." Dean quips.
"And what about you, Athy?"
Athena scrunched her face. "That's childish. We have more important things to be working on, don't you think?"
Sam and Dean look at each other, mischievous smiles on their lips.
Over the past couple of weeks, the boys have been trying to get Athena to lighten up. But, after seeing John, it felt like it was impossible. And Athena didn't really see the importance of having fun with her brothers when she knows, they're gonna toss her to the side every time their father comes around.
"All right..." Dean presses his lips together. "You can join the game anytime--"
"This isn't a game, this is a war." Sam seethes.
Athena raises her brows as Dean laughs harder than before.
"You guys are so dramatic."
☆
"The EMF is no good."
Athena points to the electrical post and the brothers look at the post. Dean lets out a huff, "Crap, that thing must still have a little juice in it."
Athena nods her head, "It's messing with all the readings."
"Yeah, that'd do it." Sam sighs.
"Yeah."
"Come on, lets go." Dean is the first to walk toward the abandoned house.
"Wait--why are you letting me go in this creepy house, but you didn't let me join you when you were going after Meg?" Athena stops in her tracks.
"Well, that's simple..." Dean turns back to Athena and so does Sam. "...it's because--"
"Sam?"
Sam turns to Athena, "Yeah?"
"Are you going to answer my question?" Athena shrugs.
Sam and Dean look at each other.
"Uh, Athy. I was just answering your question." Dean chuckles.
Athena continues to stare at Sam.
Sam laughs softly, "Okay, uh--we're just scoping out the place here." Sam states. "With the Daeva we were fighting it. We didn't want you to get hurt."
"Dude--"
"What? She asked me to answer it." Sam shrugs.
Dean looks back at Athena, "What is your problem?"
"Well, that is so caring of you." Athena's voice was monotoned.
Sam slightly pulls his face back.
"You should do that more often." Athena walks toward the house.
Sam and Dean look at each other. Athena was a nice girl. But if she wanted to hurt people's feelings. She definitely could get the job done.
They make it into the older house and Athena looks around. Her eyes shift to the paint across the walls.
"Looks like old man Murdoch was a bit of a tagger during his time." Dean voices.
"And after his time too," Sam adds.
Athena looks at one familiar symbol on the painted wall. "The reverse cross has been used by Satanists for centuries..." she points at another symbol. "...but the sigil of sulfur didn't show up in San Fransico until the 60s."
"God, you are such a nerd." Dean snorts.
Athena looks at the next wall. "Oooh...this is a new one."
"Athena--"
"Sam, what do you make of this one?" Athena asks.
Dean cranes his neck forward. "What is happening right now?" he looks at his hands. "Am I a ghost?"
"Dean..." Sam clasps a hand on his shoulder. "...this is just a case of the silent treatment."
Dean pulls his brows together. "The silent treatment..." his eyes then widen and he turns back toward his sister. "...the silent treatment?"
"We are not kids--"
"Dean, can I talk to you? Like...over here?" Sam points to the corner of the room.
"Uh--no--"
Sam grips Dean's arm and he tugs Dean toward the corner.
"Ow! Let go, meanie!" Dean whines.
Once they get to the corner, Sam lets go of Dean's arm. "Look, dude. Athena's been through a lot--"
"Yeah, we all have." Dean rubs his arm.
Sam nods his head, "Yeah, but...Dean, she's 10. And she's had to be mature in order to be in this lifestyle."
Dean's eyes soften and he looks back at Athena, who was looking through John's journal.
"So, maybe--just maybe let her have her silent treatment game," Sam suggests. "It's what kids do and she deserves to be a kid."
"Also, it's really funny." Sam snorts.
Dean squints his eyes at Sam and Sam immediately closes his mouth. The eldest Winchester's shoulders sag and he sighs. "You're right." he admits.
"I know."
Dean rolls his eyes, "And you've been hanging out with Athena way too much."
Sam smiles, "I know."
A creak is heard from the next room and each sibling turns to the door. They all make their way over to the door. Sam and Dean press their backs against the wall and Athena stands beside Sam. Both the brothers on the count of 3 push the door open.
Screams come from the room and Athena raises her brows.
"Cut! Just a couple of humans."
Athena steps into a room.
"And a child. What's with her face?"
Athena's mouth hangs open. "I'll have you know my face is adorable!" she points at it. "At least...people have said."
"Look, you're an adorable kid." One of the men says.
Athena smiles.
"I was just talking about that marker gunk all over it."
Sam and Dean's jaws go slack and Athena pulls her brows together.
"Marker gunk...?" Athena walks over to the mirror and her eyes widen. A mustache was drawn on her upper lip and she had a unibrow drawn on her. The word 'nerd' was written on her cheekbone.
"Are you kidding me?!"
Dean lets out a nervous chuckle, "Whoa...who--who did that?"
Before Athena could say anything one of the two men speak.
"What are you guys doing here?"
Dean looks at the men and pulls his brows together. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Uh, we belong here. We're professionals." One of the men states.
"Professional what?" Dean questions.
"Paranormal Investigators."
The man with glasses pulls three cards from his pocket. He hands two of the cards to the brothers, he turns to the angry little girl. "Here, kid. Take a car--"
"PERMANENT MARKER?!"
All of the men jump from her screech.
"Who?"
"Wasn't us." The two Paranormal Investigators chorus.
Athena exhales through her nose. She grabs the card from the man with the glasses. "Thank you for the card, Mr. "Paranormal Investigator"." she gives him a soft smile. Her eyes shift to the card and her eyes light up, a loud gasp escapes her lips. She places a hand on the wall to keep herself from falling.
"You two are the Hellhounds?!" Athena looks at the men. "You guys are so cool!"
Dean rolls his eyes, "Give me a break--"
"Thanks, lil dudette."
"Dudette...that was so cool." A giggle comes from Athena.
"Can I shake your hands?"
"Kinda weird but sure--"
"No, absolutely not." Dean grabs the back of Athena's bag and pulls her back.
She lets out a frustrated breath through her nostrils.
"As you can tell..." Sam gives Ed and Harry a strained smile. "...we're huge fans."
"The biggest fans!" Athena exclaims.
"Yeah, well we know who you guys are too," Ed speaks.
Athena's eyes widen, "Really?"
"You're amateurs."
Athena's mouth hangs open.
"Looking for ghosts and cheap thrills."
Athena looks at Sam with a shocked expression. Sam presses his lips together and touches the top of her head.
"Yeah, so, if you guys don't mind, we're trying to conduct a serious scientific investigation here," Harry says.
"Yeah? What do you got so far?" Dean asks.
"Har, why don't you tell them about EMF?"
Harry lets out a smug chuckle.
"EMF?" Sam questions.
Athena purses her lips, "Why'd you say it like that?"
"EMF is--"
Sam quietly shushes her.
"Electromagnetic field." Harry states.
"Special entities can cause energy fluctuations that can be read with an EMF detector..." Harry grabs his EMF. "...like this bad boy right here."
"How do you know it's a boy?" Athena inquires.
Harry looks at the EMF. "I...don't..."
"Then did you call it a boy?" Athena tilts her head.
Harry looks at the ceiling thinking. "It was just a default option--"
"Why'd the default choice have to be a boy?" Dean asks, folding his arms. "It could be a bad girl or a bad person."
If Athena wasn't giving Dean the silent treatment, she would tell him she was so proud of him. Her lessons were having an affect on him.
"Okay, well...this bad thing right here."
The Winchesters all nod their heads in an approving manner. Harry turns his EMF on and it starts to warble.
"Whoa...whoa...it's 2.8 mG." Harry states. "It's hot in here."
Athena snorts, "No, it's not. It's just the--"
Sam covers Athena's mouth. "Wow! So cool, guys."
"So, have you guys ever seen a ghost before?" Dean asks, faking his interest.
"Once." Ed answers. "We were investigating this old house, and we saw a vase fall right off the table."
"By itself," Harry adds.
"Well, we didn't actually--we didn't actually see it, but we heard it." Ed states.
Athena deadpans.
"And something like that, it--it changes you."
"Yeah...I think I get the picture." Dean shrugs. "We should go, let them get back to work."
"Yeah. You should."
Athena waves at Ed and Harry. "It was really nice to meet you guys." she gives them a smile.
"Aw, it was nice to meet you too, little girl." Ed pats the top of Athena's head.
"Yeah, right." Athena takes Ed's hand off her head. "But you both need to check your egos. What if you meet more fans and they end up hating you?" she shrugs and walks away.
Ed and Harry's smiles drop. They turn to the brothers, who had smirks on their lips.
"If Athena gives you advice, listen to it," Sam says.
The brothers catch up to their sister. The siblings all walk to the car.
"So, you're the one who drew on my face, huh?" Athena looks at Dean.
Dean raises his brows, "I guess you're talking to me again, huh?"
Athena brushes off what Dean says, but she keeps a cold expression.
"You just started something you won't be able to finish." Athena squints her eyes.
Dean's jaw goes slack from the threatening tone. Sam laughs.
"You too, Sam."
Sam immediately stops laughing and Dean smirks.
"What?! Why me?!" Sam exclaims.
Athena blinks, "Dean, when did you draw on my face."
"When you were napping at the motel," Dean answers, shifting his eyes to his boots.
Athena looks at Sam with her brows raised and he sighs.
"This whole time you knew it was on and my face and you didn't say anything."
Athena shakes her head and points at the two.
"This. Means. War."
☆
Athena quietly snickers. She looks down at the bowl of water in her hands. She looks over at Dean sleeping and she snorts.
"Loser..." Athena lays on her stomach and army crawls over to her eldest brother's bed. She scoots the bowl over to side of the bed. Athena looks up at Dean's arm hanging off the bed.
Athena lifts her hand up and grabs his wrist. Dean snorts softly and yanks his hand up, Athena pulls her hand back and freezes. "Don't wake up, don't wake up, don't wake up..."
Dean drops his hand back on the edge of the bed and snores. Athena lets out a sigh of relief. She grabs Dean's wrist and places his hand in the bowl of water.
"Pee pee pants." Athena softly giggles. She walks over to Sam's bed and looks at his fingernails. Athena raises her brows and sticks her hand into her pocket. She grabs the blue nailpolish and nods her head.
"Sammy this will most definitely be your color..." Athena looks at the sleeping Sam.
Athena gently grabs Sam's hand and paints his fingernails. She sticks the tip of her tongue out of the corner of her mouth, trying not to paint some of Sam's skin. "I don't get how other people make this look so easy..." she shakes her head. Athena pulls her goggles down and leans closer to Sam's fingernails.
After, Athena was done with Sam's nails and drying them, she put eyeliner on Dean's waterline. It wasn't noticeable at first glance, but if you paid attention; you could see it.
Athena's eyes widen when Dean starts to stir awake. She quickly stands up and looks around. Athena sprints toward the bathroom, but she trips and falls. "Fiddlesticks..." she groans.
"Athy? What are you doing in here..." Dean shifts his eyes to his bed and his eyes widen. "...Aw man." He pulls his brows together and his eyes shift to the bowl of water. "Oh, hell no--SAM!"
Sam jolts awake, "Huh--what?--HUH?"
Athena stands up from the floor and straightens her overalls. "What's going on?" she says in an airy tone, holding her arms out.
Sam snorts softly, "Dude, did you piss the bed--"
"Shut up!" Dean snaps. "I know you did this!"
"I didn't make you piss the bed, dude." Sam laughs. His eyes look at the bowl of water and his laughs grow even louder.
"I'm gonna punch you, Sam." Dean growls.
"How long have you been up?" Sam asks. "And you're still sitting in your piss!" he places a hand over his face.
Dean raises his brows, "Dude your nails are little blueberries."
Sam laughing, he takes his hand off his face, and looks at his fingernails. "What the...what the hell..." he raises his brows. "...this color is...not bad."
Athena's eyes light up, "Right?!" she runs over to Sam. "I thought that would be your color. At first, I was thinking...yellow? But, then I was like a navy blue would definitely..." she trails off her sentence, noticing Sam and Dean's stern expressions.
"I-I mean...I don't--how did your nails get like that? And...what the-the water...what happened there, am I right?" Athena laughs nervously. "And...the eyeliner too..."
"Eyeliner?" The brothers chorus.
"Who's wearing eyeliner?" Dean asks.
"You are, dude." Sam says, pointing. "Right on your waterline."
Dean grabs the mirror on the nightstand and looks at his eyes. "What the..." he then points at Sam. "...how do you know what waterline is?"
Sam and Athena snicker.
"It's only one of the easiest parts of the eye to remember." Athena shrugs. She looks at Sam and points at Dean. "Amateur."
"Know-it-all." Dean retorts.
"At least I don't sit in my own pee." Athena places her hands on her hips.
Dean's eyes widen, "Shit!" he jumps out of the bed and runs into the bathroom. He passes the mirror, but quickly stops. He looks back in the mirror and examines his eyeliner. Dean raises his brows and chuckles softly. "Athena knows what fits us, that's for sure."
Dean's smile drops, remembering what his dad has said. He lets out a shaky breath with his gut turning.
...
They were back at the house again.
This time it was night, and the siblings were all hiding behind a bush, watching the security guards patrol around the house.
"I guess the cops don't want any more kids screwing around in there," Sam speaks.
"Yeah, but we still got to get in there."
Twigs snap behind them and Athena turns her head. "Oh, My Fiddlesticks..."
Sam and Dean follow her eyes, and they see Ed and Harry running through the woods; toward the house.
"I got an idea..." Dean says.
"Who you gonna call?!"
The officers turn toward the two Paranormal Investigators approaching the house.
"Hey! You!" The officers run after the Investigators.
Ed and Harry sprint back into the woods, screaming. The Winchesters all run toward the house. Athena runs up the porch steps, her foot gets caught between one of the steps and she falls forward.
"FIDDLESTI--"
Dean loops his arms under Athena's and he pulls her back up. "I've got ya, Athy."
Athena lets out a huff and makes it up the steps. She looks at Dean, presses her lips into a small smile, and nods her head. Athena runs into the house and Dean lets out a soft breath.
It wasn't a lot. But it was a start.
Dean walks into the house and closes the door behind him. Sam and Dean grab the shotguns from the duffel.
"Man, where have I seen that symbol before? It's killing me." Dean looks at the symbol.
"Come on. We don't have much time." Sam ushers his siblings to the basement.
Athena's eyes light up seeing the jars on the shelves. "Oooh! Mysterious jars!" she runs over to the shelf, jumps, and grabs a jar.
"Ewww..." Dean looks at the jar in Athena's hand. "What do you think's in it?"
Athena inhales a breath and she tilts the jar side to side. Dean quietly sighs. So much for a start.
"You still mad about dad?" Dean asks.
"Maybe..."
"So, you are talking to me?" Dean asks.
"No." Athena answers. "I just wanted you to know that I am still mad at you about dad."
"Athena, come on. He's our dad. How was I supposed to say no to him?" Dean shrugs.
"No is an easy word to say, Dean." Athena states.
"Yeah, it was Athy's first word." Sam voices, still looking around the area. "So, can we please look around? We're on a strict schedule."
Athena looks at Dean and presses her lips together. She then smiles sinisterly and Dean pulls his brows together. "Hey, Sam, I dare you to take a gulp of this." she holds it out to Sam.
Sam pulls his brows together and Dean smiles.
"Why the hell would I do that for?"
"Swear." Dean holds a finger up.
Athena shakes her bag, signalling Dean to check her bag. Dean unzips her bag and grabs the swear jar. Sam holds his arms out, "Oh, are you kidding me--"
"No, I am not kidding you." Dean shakes his head. "Swears are a serious thing and we should have a limit on how much we use them."
"Good job, sucking up to Athena--"
"I am not!" Dean gasps.
Sam rolls his eyes, "Very convincing, Dean. You should be an actor."
"But...it was so obvious he was lying, Sam." Athena pulls her brows together. "How could you not tell...did you hit your head earlier or something? You forgot what EMF meant too!"
"He's fine, Athy. He's just a sarcastic little poopy head." Dean says.
Sam nods his head, "Very mature, Dean."
"See, there's that sarcasm again." Dean clicks his tongue.
"Okay, okay. I double dare you." Athena points at Sam.
Sam squints his eyes and shakes his head.
A clatter is heard in the next room, Athena jumps and the jar slips from her hands. Dean's eyes widen and he catches the jar. Athena lets out a sigh when Dean sets the jar on the shelf.
The siblings walk into the room, Sam and Dean point their shotguns at the closet. Athena raises her brows as Sam and Dean look at her.
"I'm not opening it." Athena whispers, holding her hands up. "I'm only 10."
Sam and Dean look at each other and nod, agreeing with the girl. Sam looks at Dean and the eldest brother nods his head, signaling he was ready.
Sam grabs the door handle and Athena stands behind Dean. Sam pulls the closet door open and two rats run out.
Athena quietly gasps, "Cute!" she gushes.
"I hate rats." Dean shudders.
Sam chuckles, "You'd rather it was a ghost?"
"Yes."
"Knock on wood." Athena says.
Dean sputters his lips, "No."
"Dean--"
"Athy, there is nothing he--"
"Duck!"
Without even looking back, Dean and Athena duck. Sam shoots at the ghost, but it doesn't disappear. Dean and Athena turn toward the ghost and Athena's eyes widen.
"WHY IS IT STILL HERE?!"
"I DON'T KNOW!"
Dean shoots the ghost and it disappears.
"What the hell kind of spirit is immune to rock salts?!" Sam exclaims.
"I don't know!"
"LET'S BLOW THIS POPSICLE STAND!!!" Athena squeals.
The siblings all run towards the stairs. The ghost reappears and swings it's axe at the shelf, shattering the jars. The unfamiliar liquid spills on Athena's clothes and she screams. "GROSS--" she dry heaves. "I'M GONNA BE SIC--" she dry heaves again.
Dean looks at Athena and he wrinkles his nose. "Okay, let's go!" he picks her up and runs up the stairs of the basement with Sam.
All together, the Winchesters knock down the door, they fall off the porch and onto the grass. Athena lets out a disgusted cry. "The grass is sticking to my cloooothessss..." she dry heaves again. "Oh, god it's coming up!--"
"Nope, nope, nope..." Dean continues to say as he and Sam help Athena up. Dean sees Ed and Harry in front of him and he growls.
"Get that damn thing out of my face!" Dean snaps.
Sam and Dean drag the sick Athena back towards the car.
Athena tilts her head to the sky and her stomach continues to churn. "Why me?!"
☆
"We need you to shut down your website."
Ed laughs, "You know, these three get us busted last night. We spend the night in a holding cell."
"I had to pee in front of people, and I get stage fright." Harry cries.
"Why should we trust you guys?" Ed shrugs.
"Because we're cool." Athena snorts. "Duh."
"No one who admits their cool is cool, kid." Ed states.
Athena chews on the inside of her cheek, thinking. "Mmmm--I'm cool. Most definitely.
"She is." Sam and Dean state.
"Look." Sam speaks again. "...we all know what we saw last night, what's in the house. But now, thanks to your website, there are thousands of people hearing about Mordechai."
"That's right, which means people are gonna keep showing up and running into him." Dean adds.
"Somebody could get hurt." Athena says.
"Yeah..."
Athena squints her eyes. "You're mean."
"I am an investigator--"
"Ed, maybe they've got a point--"
"No, no." Ed shakes his head.
"Nope." Harry shakes his head.
"This is a weird slightly toxic relationship you guys have here." Athena folds her arms. "It's gonna bite you in the butt years from now."
"Whatever--"
"Hey, don't you 'whatever' our sister, asshat." Dean snaps.
"That was a swear, but I'll let you have that one." Sam says.
Athena folds her arms, "I second that."
Ed shakes his head, "We have an obligation to our fans, to the truth."
"The truth is going to get your fans killed." Athena deadpans.
"You know what?" Dean holds his hands up and lets out a laugh of disbelief. "I have an obligation to kick both of your--"
"Beehives!" Athena adds. "Kick 'em in the beehives! And kick 'em good!"
Harry slightly pulls his face back, "Oh, my god..."
"Dean, Athy, just forget it, all right?" Sam calms his angered siblings down. "These guys--you could probably bitch-slap them both."
Athena giggles. "I'll allow that one."
"I second that." Dean voices with a chuckle.
"I mean, we could probably even tell them that thing about Mordechai..." Athena bunches her shoulders and looks at the Investiagators, who suddenly seem interested. "...they probably still wouldn't find it in their hearts to help us."
Sam lets out a sigh and nods his head. "Yeah, we should just go."
The siblings all walks away, but the investigators start to talk again. "Wait, wait, wait...what did you say about--hold on a second here."
They walk after the siblings.
"Yeah, what things about Mordechai, you guys?" Ed asks.
"Tell them, Sam." Dean says.
Sam turns to Dean, "But if they agree to shut their website down--"
"They're not gonna do it." Athena shakes her head.
"No, wait, wait. Don't listen to him, okay?" Ed calls out. "We'll do it."
Simultaneously, the siblings all turn towards the two men.
"Well, you most definitely were the one who said you were gonna shut it down and Harry just spinlessly followed behind you--no offense." Athena quickly explains.
"Oh, no offense." Harry waves a hand.
"It's a secret, Sam..." Athena looks at her brother.
Sam sighs, "Look, it is a pretty big deal, all right, and it wasn't easy to dig up, so only if we have your word that you'll shut everything down."
"Totally." Ed nods.
"All right..."
Athena pulls the paper from her pocket and unfolds it. "It's a death certificate from the 30s." she holds it out toward them. "We got it at the library. According to the coroner, the actual cause of death was a self-infilicted gunshot wound."
"That's right. He didn't hang or cut himself." Dean adds.
"He shot himself?" Harry questions.
"Yep, with a .45 pistol." Sam speaks. "To this day, they say he's terrified of them."
"Yeah, as a matter of fact, they say if you shoot him with a .45 loaded with these special wrought-iron rounds, you'd kill the son of a bitch." Dean explains.
Ed and Harry laugh. Harry sprints toward the trailer and Ed speed walks after him.
☆
Athena's eye twitches from the obnoxious laugh coming from the mechanical man holding a fish. Sam quickly turns it off.
"If you pull that string one more time, I'm gonna kill you." Sam seethes.
Dean blinks and he pulls the strong again. Athena blows air out of her mouth, her eyes on the wires and screws in front of her. Sam pulls the string, turning the mechanical man off and Dean laughs.
"Come on, man, you need more laughter in your life, you know?" Dean raises his brows. "You're way too tense."
Sam takes a swig from his beer and frustratingly sets it down. Athena raises her brows and takes a sip of her strawberry milk.
"They post it yet?" Dean asks.
Sam turns the laptop towards his siblings.
"We have learned from reputable sources that Mordechai Murdoch has a fatal fear of firearms." Dean reads. "All right. How long do we wait?"
"Long enough for the new story to spread and the legend to change." Athena states. "I theorize by nightfall, iron rounds wills work on the sucker."
Sam picks up his beer bottle and so does Dean. They clink their bottles and sip from them. Sam smiles softly. Dean goes to set the bottle down, but it was still stuck to his hand. Sam laughs into his bottle and wheezes. Athena's eyes widen, when Dean tilts the bottle to the side and shakes it. She slaps a hand over her mouth and laughs. "Dean's got a bottle hand! Dean's gotta bottle hand!" she points at him.
"You didn't." Dean looks at Sam.
"Oh, I did." Sam laughs. He pulls the string of the mechanical man and it starts to laugh again.
Athena laughs even harder than before. Dean pulls his brows together, spotting something on Sam's shoulder. "Dude, spider!"
Sam rolls his eyes and snorts, "Yeah, right. Nice tr--OH MY GOD!!!" his eyes blow wide from the spider on his shoulder.
Sam shoots up from the booth and pats at his clothes. The spider falls to the ground and Sam stomps at it. Tears find Athena's eyes as she continues to laugh. "I'm gonna pee my pants!" she wipes her tears with her sleeves. "LIKE YOU!" she points at Dean.
Dean's smile drops.
"What is so funny about me almost being mangled by a spider?!" Sam exasperates.
Athena gets out of the booth and picks up the spider. "Toy spider, ding dong."
Sam's mouth drops open.
Dean throws his head back and laughs. He goes to place a hand on his head, but he hits his head with the bottle. "Dammit!"
Athena falls to the ground and continues to laugh.
After, practically prying the beer bottle off of Dean's hands, the siblings waited until nightfall till they snuck back into the house.
And, of course, they had some visitors.
"What the hell are you trying to do, get yourself killed?" Sam snaps.
"We're just trying to get a book and movie deal, okay?" Ed nervously explains.
"Besides, you're the one who brought a kid with you." Harry points at the frizzy haired girl.
Metal scraping is heard in the distance, causing everyone to turn toward the door. Sam and Dean aim their guns at the door.
"Oh, crap..." Ed murmurs. "Uh, you guys want to open that door for us?"
"Why don't you?" Dean growls.
The door is kicked open and the axe-wielding spirit barages toward them.
"FIDDLESTICKS!!!"
Sam and Dean open fire on the spirit, until it dissipated in the air.
Sam takes a step forward and Dean leaves the room.
"Athy, stay here." Sam says.
"You don't have to tell me twice." Athena keeps her back pressed against the wall.
"Wait, is he gone? Oh, he's gone..."
"Did you get him?" Harry asks.
"Oh, yeah, they got him." Ed nods.
"No, on camera. Did you get him on camera?" Harry asks.
Athena's eyes widen. "WATCH OUT FOR THE--"
The spirit hits the camera with the axe. The impact makes Harry fall to the ground. Athena runs over to man and helps him up. The spirit disappears.
"Hey!" Dean snaps, walking back into the room with Sam. "Didn't you guys post that B.S. story we gave you?"
"Of course we did." Ed huffs.
"Yeah, but then our server crashed." Harry adds.
Athena's eyes widen.
"So, it didn't take. So, these guns don't work." Dean states.
"Uh...yeah."
Dean lets out a chuckle of disbelief, "Great. Sam, Athy, any ideas?"
"We are getting out of here." Harry runs toward the exit. He stops and runs back towards his friend and grips his jacket. "Come on, Ed." they both sprint through the house.
Screams erupt through the house and Dean sighs.
"I'll find them." Sam jogs out of the room.
Dean turns toward Athena, "Idea?"
Athena scratches at the top of her head. She closes her eyes and quietly hums, trying to think. Dean looks around, knowing the loud screaming was bothering Athena and keeping her from thinking. He crouches down in front of his sister and covers her ears.
"Breathe, Athena you've got this."
Athena scrunches her nose. "I don't know if this will work, but--"
"Anything is a good idea, Athy." Dean says, taking his hands off her ears.
Athena inhales, "Uh...torch the house?" she bunches her shoulders.
Dean blinks.
"If Mordechai can't leave the house and we can't kill him, we improvise." Athena opens her eyes.
Dean frowns and nods, "Works for me." he ruffles her hair and runs to the duffel bag. He grabs the gasoline and pours it across the house.
"GUYS!" Sam's scream echoes through the house.
"Shit!" Dean rummages through the duffel, but he doesn't see the spray anywhere. "What the hell?"
"Eat fireballs, Matt Murdock!" Athena flicks the lighter on and sprays the fluid over the flames, forcing the fire to hit the spirit.
The spirit disappears and Sam drops to the ground. He places a hand over his throat and gasps away. Athena drops the can of spray and runs over to her brother. She grabs his arm and tugs him onto his feet. "Is your trachea smashed?"
"No, no...I'm good." Sam wheezes. "Nice job, Athy."
Athena smiles.
"But who gave you a lighter?" Sam asks.
"No, one. I just took it from Dean's pocket." Athena answers.
"You pickpocketed me?!" Dean exclaims, running over to them; helping Sam up.
Athena shrugs, "Yeah."
"And now..." Athena flicks the lighter on. "...I'm burning this mother down."
"Athena, wait! We're still--"
"TOO LATE!!!"
Athena drops the lighter on the ground, flames immediately erupting across the floor.
Athena holds her hands in the air and laughs, "MWAHAHAHAHAHA"
"Shit!"
Sam and Dean pick Athena up by both of her arms and carries the manically cackling girl out of the house.
"You friggin' pyro!" Dean exclaims. "We were still in the house."
Athena stops her laugh and her smile drops. "Oh. Well...that was still cool."
Sam and Dean smile at the girl's excitement, they look at each other and sigh, letting her have this moment. "Yeah it was." Sam agrees.
"You did good, Athy." Dean flicks her nose.
Athena grimaces and rubs her nose.
After getting away from the Murdoch house, they made it back to Ed and Harry's trailer to find out that they got a movie deal with a producer. Athena thought it was coolest thing in the world. And once she heard about the RPG she freaked out.
Once the boys drove away the siblings walk towards the car.
"I have a confession to make." Sam speaks. "I was the one who called them and told them I was a producer."
Athena giggles.
"Well, I'm the one who out the dead fish in their backseat." Dean speaks.
Sam and Athena laugh.
"Yeah? Well, I'm the one who put a bomb under their car."
Sam and Dean stop in their tracks and snap their eyes over to Athena.
"You what?!"
Athena stops laughing, "What? It was a joke!" she holds her hands up. "You guys didn't get my joke?"
The brothers sigh.
"I think we need to work on your meaning of a joke." Sam says.
Athena frowns, "I did put glue on their seats though." she snickers. "That's not a joke, by the way."
Sam and Dean look at each other and laugh.
"Truce?" Sam looks at Dean.
"Yeah, truce." Dean nods.
They both look at Athena, who hasn't said anything. She folds her arms and presses her lips together, humming softly.
"I guess I can call a truce...for now."
