Background:

~ Monami and Karan fell in love with eachother while Monami was his cadet, his Rani Sahiba, Karan was her trainer, her Khadoos Shergill.

~ Monami became a special agent 4 months back after completing her training while Karan is Special Agent Major Karan Shergill.

~ Flashbacks are in italics and the present happenings are written in normal font, bold italics is important or either writer's point of view, depending upon the sentence.

The bright sunrays peeked inside their room, directly falling on her face as her eyebrows twitched and emerald eyes flickered before coming across a beautiful site, his face.

A sweet dreamy smile came across Monami's lips, as she lightly ruffled his hairs, staring at his sleeping figure while her smile widened on witnessing the adorable smile which was lingering on his lips even when he was asleep.

But then her eyebrows furrowed as she found his peaceful sleep getting disturbed by the sunshine as she covered his face with her palm, lightly caressing his hairs from her other hand while she gently planted a kiss on his forehead.

Monami was busy staring Karan lovingly when he called out for her huskily, "Rani Sahiba itne pyaar se dekhengi toh mujhe vapis pyaar hojaega aapse."

While Monami's eyes widened but no sooner was it replaced by a smirk as she leaned forward and spoke up innocently, "Thik hai, phir main jaaun Khadoos Shergill?"

Saying so, she shifted a bit in an fake attempt to get up but felt a tug on her wrist and the next moment she landed on his chest with her face inches apart from Karan's face as he opened his eyes, and peeked at her face unblinkingly while she blushed in deep shades of red on finding his intense gaze on her.

She tapped his shoulder lightly jerking him out of his trance but then he whispered while tucking the hair strand behind her ear, "Anyways, I will fall in love with you all over again with each passing moment."

Hearing him, blush crept on her face as she hitted his chest playfully whereas he chuckled on her antics, she's just like an innocent child who can turn out strong headed when the time requires.

"Tumhe pta hai, bas ek chiz hai jiske bina main nahi reh sakti..." uttered Monami while resting her head on his chest.

Monami stared at Karan loving as she said, "Bas ek chiz hai jiske bina main nahi reh sakti..."

While Karan pointed at himself with a short smile while Monami smirked and answered, "Phone charger!"

Karan glanced at her and said suspiciously, "Phone Charger?"

Whereas Monami nodded her head negatively and answered looking straight into his eyes, "Tum!"

A grin appeared on his face after hearing her while her cheeks turned scarlett, making her shy as she snuggled into his chest whereas he wrapped his arm around her waist protectively and held her one hand with his other.

"I love you Rani Sahiba and will continue to until death do us apart...." he whispered huskily in her ears as shivers ran down her spine hearing his confession.

"And I will be loving you till my last breath and even after that Khadoos Shergill! Soldier's Promise. " Monami whispered back and his lips broke into a wide smile with his ears turning pink.

Karan stole a glance at Monami as he spoke up with a smirk, "Chalo, ab meri good morning kiss ki baari..."

Monami shook her head in disbelief at his antics when an idea dawned her as she said with a shy smile playing on her lips but an internal smirk, "Lekin pehle aankhein band kro..."

Karan was about to deny but was stopped by her glare as he closed his eyes like an obedient child while Monami leaned forward towards his lips but then unexpectedly pecked his cheeks and rolled to the other side, getting up from the bed while Karan instantly shot his eyes open on realising that he is played.

"Rani Sahibaaa! Yeh galat hai!" Karan whined like a child who just lost his favourite chocolate.

While Monami threw a cushion towards him which he barely catched due to the sudden attack when he heard her say, "Everything is fair in love Khadoos Shergill!"

Saying so she started to run around in the room followed by Karan as their laughs and giggles echoed in their room, as they forgot the whole world, nothing mattered to them, not anymore.

"Pakad liya!" exclaimed Karan as he finally wrapped his arms around her waist, back hugging her while Monami could feel his hot breaths near her neck, her heartbeats raising to an extent that it could be heard him as she closed her eyes inhaling his intoxicating scent.

While Karan turned Monami making her face him as her arms were now wrapped around his back, when lifting up her chin he whispered huskily, "Rani Sahiba...."

Monami hummed in response but didn't open her eyes when they heard the sound of the ringing alarm clock as Karan told her with a small smile, "Vakt hogya hai Rani Sahiba, ab toh aankhein khol lijiye."

But she couldn't gave in just yet while his hold on her waist loosened as she opened her eyes with a jerk as now both of them were holding eachother's arms, staring at eachother with longing in their eyes.

Karan started to take his steps backwards, the grip of their hands loosening, until their hands were finally separated as a tear rolled down Monami's cheeks whereas Karan got his hand near his lips, breaking into a smile, indicating her to smile as well.

Monami's lips curved into a smile as she told him, "I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you in my arms."

Her eyes opened as she looked at the ceiling without blinking, being in a daze when her gaze shifted to the other side of her bed which was isolated, while the ringing alarm clock broke her chain of thoughts as she turned off the alarm and peeked at the time, 4:37 AM.

Another dream.

Monami sat up straight on the bed and picked up the Photoframe from the side table, as she stared at it, it had the picture of her Khadoos Shergill and his Rani Sahiba.

"Good Morning Khadoos Shergill. Ek aur subah humari yaadon ke saath aur tumhare bina." she muttered with a sad smile.

Her thumb slowly caressed his photo as she murmured, "Lekin koi baat nahi, tumhara hi pyaar hoon Karan Shergill aur esliye keh rahi hoon ki tumhara pyaar intezaar krna jaanta hai..."

That's when her phone rang as the screen displayed, Batra Sir.

Monami placed back the Photoframe carefully and picked up the call in a go as she answered, "Jai Hind Sir. Special Agent Doctor Monami Mahajan Shergill reporting!"

"Monami, report me in the academy by 530 Hours. Copy that?" Batra Sir enquired sternly.

"Copy Sir!" answered Monami in affirmative as they disconnected the call while she went to freshen up as she came out after a couple of minutes wearing her uniform, her hair tied in a high ponytail.

She took a final glance of herself in the mirror and took her gun from the cabinet when her eyes accidentally landed on the calender, today's day.... 20th June.

"Congratulations Special Agent Doctor Monami Mahajan Shergill, aaj tum meri huyi..." said Karan whispering as they sat in the hall surrounded by their family, friends and their Parakram family including Batra Sir and Mrs. Batra.

Monami's cheeks turned scarlett red on hearing him as she spoke up with a teasing smile, "Control Major Shergill. Aaj toh sirf engagement huyi hai, shaadi mein abhi exactly 3 months hain. It's 20th March today."

"Bol toh aise rahi ho ki mann badalke bhaag jaogi en teen mahinon mein." he said frowning.

While Monami smirked seeing his reaction as she teased, "Kya pta sach mein bhaag jaun?"

"Shaadi ke mandap tak sabke saamne uthakar leke jaunga..." Karan answered and winked at his fiancee.

Monami looked at him startled for a moment before she interrogated, "Kyun? Gunday ho? Galti se commando ban gye kya?"

"Ab jo hoon jaisa hoon tumhara hoon." he said the ultimate truth.

"Haan-haan. Vaise bhi tumhare jaise Ulti Khopdi ko aur kaun handle krega?" she questioned with a grin, raising her invisible collars.

Karan slightly nodded as he added with a smirk, "Baat toh hai lekin phir tumhare keher se un baaki namoonon ko bachane ke liye bhi yeh Ulti Khopdi hi chahiye. Haina?"

Both of them glanced at eachother sternly before they ended up breaking into a laughter unknown to anyone, being lost in eachother.

Monami shook her head to break her trance as she walked out of the room, not wanting to look anywhere which reminds her of the day accidentally also.

She stopped her jeep outside the academy and entered to find Batra Sir, Mrs. Batra, Siddharth, Sanjana, Koel, Faizi, and Barkha waiting for her as she first saluted Batra Sir, then touched Barkha and Mrs. Batra's feet and finally gave a hug to her four bestfriends and lifelines.

"Sir aapne mujhe bulaya? Anything urgent?" Monami questioned formally.

Seven people stole glances at one another when Barkha enquired, taking Monami's hand in her's, "Tumhe yaad hai ki aaj kya hai Monami?"

Monami peered at everyone as she gently took out her hand from Barkha's grip, not wanting to hurt her as she muttered, "Aaj ka din kaise bhula doon Bhabhi? After all, thik essi din, 3 mahine pehle voh apne mission par gya tha aur aaj tak nahi lauta..."

Karan dressed up himself in his uniform, gearing himself while Monami took out his gun from the cabinet and walked upto him, handing him his revolver as she uttered with tears streaming down her eyes, "Apna dhyaan rakhna..."

Karan took the revolver from her hand and tucking it behind his back, he moved to wipe her tears while she hugged him, snuggling into his chest whereas he wrapped his arms around her waist and caressed her hair as he whispered, "Rani Sahiba, aaj hi toh sagai huyi hai, log kya sochenge? Ki Pati ne shaadi hone se pehle hi apni Patni ko rulana shuru krdiya toh shaadi ke baad kya hoga?"

"Karan, tum aaoge na vapis?" she questioned fearing to loose him.

Whereas he untangled himself from her and cupping her face, he assured her, "Tumhe chodkar kahaan jaunga? Laut kar tumhare paas hi aaunga. Copy?"

Monami nodded quietly, wiping her tears as Karan kissed her forehead softly, holding her like a glass doll while she just looked at him wanting to capture his image in her eyes and heart forever.

That's when his gaze landed on her lips as he leaned forward while Monami closed her eyes, feeling nervous but then she felt his lips on her cheeks as she opened her eyes slowly when he told her, "Humare Mission Voh ko pura hone mein time baaki hai Rani Sahiba. Kehte hain na, ki ek soldier ke paas koi uska apna hona chahiye jiske liye voh ghar vapis lautna sikhe.... Ab baakiyon ke saath-saath mujhe tumhare liye aur humare es Mission Voh ki success ke liye lautna hoga."

Monami smiled tearfully hearing him while both of them enveloped eachother in a final hug before Karan backed off and walked out of the room without another word while she just stood there looking at retreating figure with a hope.

Monami's trance was broken as Sanjana shook her by holding her shoulders but that's when her eyes fell on the Wall Of Parakram, which held the pictures of all the soldiers who died while saving the country, and her gaze just had to fell on his picture, Martyred Special Agent Major Karan Shergill.

"Monami, Karan jis mission site par gya tha vahaan bomb blast hua hai... civilians ko rescue krliya gya tha lekin Karan vahaan se nahi nikal paaya... humari rescue team usse dhoond rahi hai lekin vahaan kuch nahi bacha..." informed Batra Sir downing his gaze while Faizi, Sanjana, Koel, Siddharth and Barkha broke down into tears with other cadets while Monami stood there, her face devoid of any emotions.

Batra Sir handed Karan's uniform to Monami with shivering hands as he told her, "Monami, Special Agent Karan Shergill es mission mein shaheed hogya hai.... He is no more."

While Monami fell on her knees broken, clutching his uniform close to her chest as she shouted, "Karannn!"

"Monu sambhaal khudko.." whispered Siddharth taking Monami in a side hug while she sobbed uncontrollably even though she was in the arms of her four people who loved her more than anything now but still she managed to utter, "Karan zinda hai.... He can't leave his mission unfulfilled! Usse vapis aana hoga! Special Agent Major Karan Shergill tumhe vapis aana hoga varna it means ki tumne apna vaada toda! Aur tumne toh kaha tha ki Special Agent Major Karan Shergill apna vaada kabhi nahi todta!"

Since that day to the present, she waited for him return, for any source which could confirm that he is alive and so she refused to believe anyone or anything!

"Monami hum tumhe aise pal-pal marte huye nahi dekh sakte. Tumhari saans chal rahi hai lekin tum jee nahi rahi ho..." said Faizi in an attempt to make her understand.

Monami glanced at Faizi when Sanjana spoke up softly, "Monami hum jaanto hogo ki Karan Sirji ki teri zindagi mein ka ahemiyat hogo par ek sach jey bhi hogo ki voh ab na lautenge...."

"Mona, move on krle... apne liye nahi toh apne Khadoos Shergill ke liye. Tujhe lagta hai ki voh tujhe aise dekh kar khush hoga?" uttered Koel while she ended up earning a glare from Monami as she looked at others who didn't opposed Koel and there she started shooting daggers through her bloodshot red eyes which were enough to scare anyone.

"Pleasure of love lasts a moment and pain of love lasts a lifetime." Siddharth muttered looking at Monami and her gaze softened a bit.

She inhaled deeply and stated clearly, "Love leaves a memory which no one can steal.... main khudko bhool jaungi lekin Karan ko nahi."

"Itna pyaar krti ho mujhse?" She heard a familiar voice and she knew that she just can't make a mistake here.

Monami instantly turned back to find her Karan standing there with an emotional smile while tears started to emerge in her eyes after seeing him what felt like an eternity to her.

She glanced at others whose eyes were filled with tears but the happy smiles were lingering on their faces, and she realised that it's not a dream, not a dream!

Monami rushed to him and took him in a warm hug, she missed this, she missed his warmth, she missed his scent, she missed his hugs, she missed his forehead kisses, she missed him!

Her arms wrapped around his back tightly as if indicating that she won't let him go again while Karan smiled at his Rani Sahiba and caressed her hairs, and wrapped the other arm around her waist in an attempt to sooth her.

Their grip on eachother just tightened with each passing moment when Siddharth spoke up teasingly, "Monu bro tera hi Khadoos hai! Abhi filal hume bhi dekhlo!"

The couple separated from eachother and that's when something striked Monami as without thinking she went on her knees startling everyone, specially him.

"Special Agent Major Karan Shergill I love you. Yaad hai aaj kya hai? Humari shaadi ki tareekh.... aur esliye aaj main tumse ek aur baar puchti hoon... Kya apni puri zindagi mere saath spend kroge? Jis din engagement huyi thi ussi din apna naam Monami Mahajan Shergill krliya tha lekin aaj puchti hoon, kya tum mujhe officially Special Agent Doctor Monami Mahajan Shergill banaoge? Karan Shergill ki wife banne ka right doge? Kya mujhe humesha ke liye Khadoos Shergill ki Rani Sahiba banaoge? Will you marry me?" Monami enquired pulling out her hand forward for him to hold it while Karan's eyes were filled tears of happiness.

He instantly held her hand going on his knees and nodding his head vigorously in a yes he replied back, "Haan! A big yes! Monami I know ki main kabhi zaada expressive nahi tha but I can just say that I love you and I will stay by your side forever! "

Both of them hugged eachother tightly pouring out their happiness while they separated after an eternity when Barkha said, "Chalo, ab shaadi ki taiyaarian bhi krni hain. Karan, Monami tum dono Karan ke academy wale room mein jaake thodi der baat krlo tab tak hum preparations krte hain and zaada der nahi!"

The duo nodded and were about to depart for Karan's room but Monami stopped midway while everyone peeked at her as she ran to the wall and removed Karan's frame from their hurriedly and kept it aside while everyone smiled seeing her, knowing how much did she wanted to remove it from the wall and prove everyone wrong all this time just in this case.

The couple glanced at eachother and made their way towards his room as Monami was the first one to step inside while Karan closed the door and the very instant the door closed, Karan was pinned to the wall.

Due to the sudden moment, his arms rested on her waist while Monami's arms were snaked around his neck, as they remained in the same position, no words were needed to them for describing their longing because they were busy reading eachother's eyes.

They joined their forehead's, being lost in eachother's ocean eyes as they confessed, "You were my first love and you are my last love."

"Soldier's Promise." Both of them uttered.

"Let's seal the deal. May I?" Karan interrogated while his eyes were fixated at her lips to which she smiled, for him her consent matters the most even after knowing her answer.

She gently nodded her head and answered, "Only you may. Always."

Saying so, she stood on her toes and her glossy lips captured his rough ones while Karan smiled being in the kiss as he responded with same gentleness and care while they poured out all their feelings, longings and love for eachother in that soulful kiss, the kiss had sealed the deal and their hearts together for an eternity, forever.
