EIGHT; BEFORE THE SUN RISES

(3.21)

BONNIE'S BODY WAS LIMP WITH BLOOD SEEPING THROUGH HER NECK. Anubis applied pressure to neck to try and stop the bleeding. Bonnie's head was to the side and her eyes were closed shut, Anubis had no clue what to do and he got angry. He kept applying pressure until Damon appeared, his eyes were droopy and he rubbed his head.

When Damon's eyes landed on Bonnie his eyes grew wide in fear, he ran over to her and kneeled down next to her. He bit his wrist and held it up to Bonnie's mouth, "Come on Bonnie, wake up," he muttered underneath his breath.

Anubis watched Damon with careful eyes when Bonnie let out a gasp of air, the two looked at her with wide eyes. Bonnie held her hand to her chest, and then to her neck and when she saw the crimson on her fingers, she looked at the two for an answer.

"Bonnie, what the hell happened?" Anubis asked furrowing his brows together.

"It-It was Alaric." Bonnie answered in a meek voice.

Anubis furrowed his brows trying to remember who it was and then the memory hit him back, he remembered him at the Mystic Grill. He was the one to sit next to Anubis and that's all he remembered.

"Bonnie, Alaric is dead. He was here, I was with him when he died," he answered with a stern look on his face.

"He's not dead," Anubis said in monotonous voice after realizing something, "How did he die?"

Damon looked at Anubis with a puzzled look on his face, "Esther wanted him to turn to a vampire to kill the Originals but he didn't want to turn."

Anubis was quiet for a few seconds, Alaric was Esther's backup plan, but he wasn't dead, "He's not dead."

"And how do you know that?" Damon asked.

"Because I'm the god of death, I would have seen him, but I didn't," he turned to Bonnie, "You completed his transition, he wasn't dead when you left him." he turned his attention towards Damon and then Damon's eyes became wide with shock.

"This isn't good," Damon muttered, "He has the white oak stake."

"White oak stake?" Anubis asked with a confused expression.

"It's one of the only weapons to kill an Original."

"Isn't that a good thing?" Anubis asked.

"Look genius, if you kill an Original with the stake that means that their entire sire line and every vampire they sired will die. If you kill Klaus, you'll be killing me and Bonnie's mom."

Anubis looked at Damon a serious look on his face, he knew he had to kill Klaus but at what cost. He'd be killing all the vampires he sired but vampires were like a plague. They had killed hundreds of thousands and some were merciless. He knew of one way for a loophole.

"I have an idea," he said, "I need to get my ring back."

"Where is it?" Bonnie asked

"With Elijah Mikaelson."

***

Anubis stood at the door of the Mikaelson mansion with his hands in his pockets. Bonnie, Damon, and Stefan were off doing something while he tried to find a loophole. The door opened to the mansion and Anubis saw a blonde standing at the door. She had straight blonde hair and azure eyes, she pouted her lips wondering who was at the door.

"Do I know you?" she asked in a thick accent.

Anubis smirked, "I'm looking for Elijah Mikaelson, I believe he has something of mine."

The blonde licked her lips and then she studied Anubis carefully, she straightened her back and folded her arms across her chest, "What does he have?"

"A ring," Anubis answered annoyed, he suspected the blonde knew him but she indecisive about him.

"What's the color of this ring?" she asked squinting her eyes.

"Ruby red," he answered.

The blonde's eyes went wide with shock, "You must be Anubis."

"And you must be Rebekah Mikaelson." He sneered.

Rebekah placed a hand on her hip, Elijah started to appear behind her and he stepped in front of her protectively.

"Ah, my old friend," Anubis greeted, "How's that have of yours?"

Elijah turned his hand to look at the palm and saw the mark still etched on his skin. Elijah then turned his attention toward the god.

"Now, can I please get my ring back?" He asked with an annoyed smile.

Elijah pulled out a small black box out of his suit jacket, "Is it this ring?" He opened the box and Anubis saw the ruby red ring inside the box. Anubis went to reach for the box but Elijah pulled it away.

"I'll give this to you on one condition," He started.

"Give me the ring or I will kill you and drag your ass to the underworld." Anubis threatened.

"Look, you're a smart gentlemen," Elijah started, "I will give this to you under one condition, you stay away from our family."

Anubis clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, "You see I can't really do that, I have a mission which involves you off this earth."

Elijah pursed his lips, "Look, you've had the chance to kill me and yet you haven't. So there is a reason as to why you're stalling and I believe it involves a certain Bennett witch."

Anubis licked his lips and straightened his back, "I have my own reasons for not killing you yet and none of them involve a Bennett witch."

"Listen Anubis, we've both been on this earth for a long time, we both know when someone is lying."

"Lucky for you, I was asleep for most of those years but like I said before, I need my ring."

"Why?" Rebekah intervened.

"Because I need a loophole and the only way I'm getting it is because of that ring."

"Why kind of loophole?" Rebekah asked curiously.

"It's none of your business, blondie. So hand over the ring." Anubis said threateningly.

"Not until you tell us the loophole. We know what this ring is capable of, you can turn into a jackal and your bite will be lethal to anyone."

"What that damned book didn't tell you is that it has enough magic to make me return human. The ring is a loophole because the magic inside can bring someone back from the dead." He spat, the two Originals looked at each other with weary looks.

ย  ย  "Anyone?" they asked in unison.

ย ย  "Anyone." He repeated, "Can I get my ring now?"

ย  ย  Elijah handed Anubis the box "Use it carefully, we don't have an army of Egyptian witches to help you this time."

ย ย  "Thank you for your concern but I won't be needing it." Anubis grabbed the box and saw the bright ring inside, he felt a small sense of relief in seeing the ring and knowing what it could do.
