BACKGROUND ❧
overall backstory — ivanna had experience with the monarchy and it's grisha long before she was tested. her father was a commander in the first army, and a well-respected one. it didn't mean he was respected among the monarchy, but they knew of him and his family at least.

her father died when she was 8, and when her sister was 5. he was killed in action, and though ivanna was never close to him, she of course mourned his death.

it was strange how nikolai lantsov and ivanna met. he'd run off from the grand palace one morning and found himself admiring the horses in ivanna's family pasture. she caught him looking, and stood there with him. it was then a beautiful friendship and tradition was formed.

when ivanna was tested, being proven to be a squaller, she was sent away to the little palace. it devastated her family and her to leave them, but she had to. she thought of seeing nikolai, but she did never did see him there. as she grew up, becoming proficient in her abilities and gaining her own amplifier, she became the general's favorite. of course, at the time, she didn't know of his ulterior motive. but when she learned of this, she tried to run, and therefore was punished for it by being thrown in prison. she eventually escaped with the help of nikolai and joined his crew.
