"I'll love you forever."
"Forever is a long time. You'll probably get tired of me."
"I could never get tired of you, don't say such foolish things."
...
Strangers...
With a heavy sigh, Yeosang puts the can of hairspray down, causing it to clink against the sink. The reflection in the mirror is staring back at him, with such sad eyes that he almost feels bad for the poor guy.
It's been days since his last encounter with Seonghwa, days he should've used on something productive like finding a job, or apply for school. But all he's done has been visiting his dad, hanging out with Wooyoung, and sulking in his room. Lucas has been busy with work, which probably has been for the best anyway.
Yeosang leans in over the sink, his hands resting against the edge, as he takes a couple of deep breaths. He hates how much meeting Seonghwa again is affecting him, he shouldn't care what that guy says or does. As Seonghwa said, they don't know each other anymore. They are strangers.
When his eyes once again meet his reflection in the mirror, silent tears are streaming down his cheeks. He quickly wipes them away - Lucas is coming by to picki him up in any minute now, and he doesn't want to let it show that he's been crying. Yeosang takes a last look at himself, making sure everything looks just perfect for tonight, before leaving the bathroom.
Living with Wooyoung and San has been fine this far, not good - not bad, just fine. Wooyoung is loud as always, sometimes too much and especially when he brings home a date. San is mostly in his room, working. San had changed from economics to interior design, while Wooyoung had finished his, although he's said multiple times he's only staying in it for the money.
"Wauwie wauwie! Someone's looking hot tonight," Wooyoung laughs, as Yeosang walks into the living room. "I assume you won't be back before tomorrow morning then," he adds with a wink.
Yeosang manages to catch a glimpse of San rolling his eyes, but he chooses to ignore him. Again. The doorbell rings, and Yeosang soon has other things to think about anyway. But deep down he fears that the thing between him and San might boil over at one point. Neither of them are trying that hard to hide their dislike of each other, but Wooyoung is too oblivious to even notice, and just happy to be living with his two best friends.

"Is everything ok? You've been so quiet my love?" Lucas asks, with a gentle hand on Yeosang's thigh.
"Yeah I'm fine. I'm just tired and... It's still a little weird to be back..." Yeosang mumbles, staring out the car window as they drive through the city.
The mood for going out isn't really showing up tonight, and Yeosang struggles to at least pretend he wouldn't rather stay at home. He can't even remember where they are going tonight, or what the occasion is. By now he knows it doesn't matter anyway, it's always the same - somewhere too fancy for his taste, with food in extremely small portions, and people he has nothing in common with.
"I'll start looking for an apartment next week," Lucas then says, breaking the silence that Yeosang has left behind.
"Sounds nice. Where do you want to live?"
"Well... That depends... Where do you want to live?"
And Yeosang finally turns to look at his boyfriend. But it's with a sigh he has to answer that question.
"Lucas... Not this again," Yeosang smiles faintly.
"Babe, we've been together for three years! It's about time," Lucas tries to argue. They have been through this conversation so many times before, but as with anything else in his life - Lucas is not a quitter.
"Two years. We've been together for two years. It's too early..." Yeosang says, shrugging his shoulders a little.
"Three. I'm counting the year we fooled around, while I worked my butt off to convince you to actually date me!"
The hand on Yeosang's thigh gives him a little squeeze, and Yeosang has to let go of a small chuckle. It was definitely uncommon, how such a successful man like Lucas, who could get anyone he wanted, had spent a year of his life chasing after some random guy from Seoul.
"We can move far away, in a small house in the mountains or the forest. With no one around. Just the two of us. I don't care, I just want to be with you!" Lucas adds.
Yeosang shakes his head, with a short laugh, well aware that Lucas would never actually do something like that - despite the many, many times he has claimed it, in his endless quest of trying to make Yeosang move in with him.
"Right. Like you could survive in such a place," Yeosang snickers, "You need your fancy life, Lucas. And it's okay, but that just isn't something for me."
"I could totally do it!" Lucas complains, although they both know it's a lie.
"Right. And you'd quit your job, and just spend all day brushing my hair and feed me grapes?" Yeosang teases him.
Knowing that they won't get anywhere with that talk tonight, Lucas pulls him into a kiss instead. And the rest of the car ride consist of the two of them practically on top of each other on the back seat.
✦
Yeosang smiles politely all evening, even manages to squeeze out a fake laugh at yet another boring story, which the others at the table somehow find ever so amusing. But the worst part about this dreadful dinner, with Lucas' business partners, is having to sit right across from Seonghwa, and Tzuyu - of course.
"We are going to Paris next month, to celebrate our anniversary," Tzuyu announces, and Yeosang stares at her while his heart breaks in his chest. "I'm just so excited, haven't been there for years. Although it was a major struggle to find a decent sitter for our daughter. You'd be surprised to know how many unqualified people that's out there! Our usual sitter is apparently getting married that week, so I had to take time off to interview new ones - thanks for that unnecessary stress, right?"
Yeosang bites his lip, not to scream while Tzuyu goes on and on about her first world problems. Just hearing her voice is triggering something inside of Yeosang, something that wants to punch her in the face - or at least something that would make her feel the same pain as he does. And doesn't help that Seonghwa is sitting next to her, with an arm around her shoulder and looking at her with such loving eyes.
"She is four now," Tzuyu says, as one of the other guests asks how old their daughter is, "but she is very already a little genius, just like her father!"
"But she is gorgeous, like her mother," Seonghwa smiles, kissing Tzuyu's cheek.
Watching the two of them is like watching the worst, most cheesy romance movie of all time, and Yeosang has to fight not to throw up in his own mouth. At this point he isn't even feeling jealous anymore, he just feels disgusted.
"Paris is such an amazing city," it suddenly comes from Lucas, and Yeosang almost flinches in his seat. "I've tried to convince Yeosang to go with me, maybe a million times, but he always refuses."
"Oh, what a shame! How come you don't want to go? I'm sure you'd love it!"
When Tzuyu turns to look at Yeosang, he freezes. The words inside his brain freezes too. He has always come up with some lame excuse of school, work and feeling sick whenever Lucas has asked him. But saying those lies out loud at this table, would just sound so lame. And he knows that there's one person present who'll know he's lying right away.
Because of the promise they made to each other four years ago. The promise that only one of them has made happen - with someone else.
Yeosang feels lost like never before, his eyes are flickering about, but he sees nothing around him. Not until he locks eyes with Seonghwa, and then everything inside of him goes crazy.
"Excuse me, I-I need to go to the bathroom," Yeosang mumbles, as he gets up from the seat - his legs shaking as he walks away from the table.
✦
"So, how did you two meet?" a lady to the left asks, as everyone has moved to the bar area instead.
While Lucas is telling loud and proud how he and Yeosang met each other, Yeosang bites the edge of his cocktail glass not to laugh. They've changed the story quite a few times, but in the end it doesn't matter which one is used - as long as it isn't the real one. It just wouldn't be appropriate in such a fancy gathering.
...
Yeosang rolled his sore body out of the king size bed, and started to collect his clothes which had been thrown all around the room. Sweat was still trickling down his back, and he even felt quite dizzy as well. He knew he had several red marks all over his body, and he might even end up with some bruises too - and he hadn't felt more alive in ages.
"So, how much do I owe you?" the deep, smooth voice asked from the bed.
"What do you mean?" Yeosang looked over the shoulder, to take in another view of the beautiful man he had just had the most incredibly, wild sex with.
"I... Oh- fuck! I thought that... I'm sorry..."
"It's okay, Lucas, don't worry."
"No, it's not okay. I feel so embarrassed," Lucas replied, but as he got out of the bed, walking naked towards Yeosang - it was clear that this man never had felt embarrassed in his entire life.
While Yeosang struggled to keep his focus long enough, to get his pants zipped up, Lucas wrapped his arms around him from the back, soft kisses all over Yeosang's neck and shoulders.
"Maybe I can ask you out for a date then?" the older hummed behind him.
"I don't do dating, sorry..."
"Didn't you use to date Jun?"
When Lucas used the past tense in his question, Yeosang didn't feel the need to correct him. He and Jun weren't dating, not officially at least, but they were still seeing each other. Which made it all the more strange, and confusing when Jun had asked Yeosang to go meet this Lucas Wong, one of the editors of Vogue.
But Yeosang was promised to get a night he wouldn't forget, which had turned out to be more than true.
"No, we were just fucking," Yeosang said, shrugging his shoulders. "Anyway, I have to go. But thanks, it was great. Really, it was," and with a wink, he left the hotel room.
...
"- so yes, it was all magical and romantic," Lucas finishes off the newest version of how they met, and everyone is making soft "aww" sounds - everyone but Seonghwa of course.
Seeing the older looking a little distressed, makes Yeosang feel just a tiny bit better. And when Lucas kisses him on the forehead, Yeosang tells himself it's time to put the past behind him.
But he has no idea of just how hard it's going to be, with Seonghwa back in his life.
