                                           ~NOVA~

I woke up that Monday morning to 75k followers, 257k accumulated likes and 15k accumulated comments on my Instagram.

What. The. Hell. Is. Going. On.

Am I dreaming or something?

But it didn't feel like a dream. It felt real. I could feel the bed I was sitting on, and the cold temperature in my air conditioned room.

I dived deeper into my Instagram, tapping on the comments on my last post to see what this was about.

All these excessive comments made it almost impossible to understand what the point was. Most of them kept saying the same things over and over.

Comment: Ouuuu. Mystery boy is on point!

Comment: Mystery boy is my boyfriend oo😩

Comment: Oh so mystery boy is 🔥

Wait, What? Mystery Boy?

If someone could explain to me what's happening, I'd be so grateful. I'm so lost.

Comment: So this is the mystery boy everybody is hyping? Abeg, Thankyou next!

Following that last comment was about 400 extra replies bashing the hell out of the person who commented that.

And Woah, people are agressive!

The comments flowed on.

Comment: Oh so mystery boy is 🔥

Comment: What's this so called mystery boy's name sef?

Comment: Damn tho. Mystery boy is worth the hype!!

Okay, wait a second!

Am I the Mystery Boy they're talking about??!

These comments were just way too much. I had never gotten so much comments like this in any of my posts ever in my life. It was almost impossible to even see the main point of all of this.

As I scrolled down the comments, more notifications kept popping up endlessly - more followers, more likes, more comments. It got even harder to understand what exactly was the root cause of this sudden fame. All I saw was Mystery boy all over and baseless comments asking totally random things like;

Comment: Do you also attend Castron High?

Comment: Why are you so fair?

Comment: How old are you?

Why would anyone even care about all these concerning me anyway?

Comment: How did you start dating Shade Onam?

That last comment I saw made the realization of everything hit me like a truck!

Shade posted something about me on her Instagram??!

But she couldn't have done that, right? Her manager would kill her!

*New Tag Notification*
@shadesofhearts tagged you in a post

I furrowed my brow for a second as I looked in.
Shades of Hearts? That's not Shade's handle. It was probably a fan page.

Without hesitating, I tapped on it immediately, shocking myself with the speed used in the process. Ofcourse, I was curious to know what was posted - possibly about Shade and I - on one of her fan pages.

When I opened it, I saw a picture of me and Shade - the same one we took when we took when we went for icecream.

I left the page immediately and did a quick search on Shade's instagram page.

My mouth dropped in awe when I saw that picture on her page.

Shade Onam just made me famous.

                                        ~GIWA~

All the teachers are having a board meeting, so that means there is a general free period this morning.

Ss3 Class block has never been this noisy before.

I mean it. Infact, all through out my stay so far, in Castron High, there has been no type of noise that could be capable of beating the one that the whole Ss3 block was enumerating right now.

Nearly the whole set, or at least a good number of them were fussing the hell out in the hallway. I already knew what the excitement was all about. Nova Igwe - our 'pop-up' celebrity.

Class A was fairly scarce at the moment. We couldn't be more than 10 at the moment who preferred to stay in class than jumping around with the others talking in the hallway.

Asides the few people in class who were either carefree and using their phones, or anti-social and akwardly looking for how to keep themselves busy or ofcourse the overly serious students who buried themselves in their books, it was just me, leaning back on my seat and glancing through my Nova-infested social media, and my handsome wizard with me, resting the back of his head on my laps lazily and seeming quite nonchallant about everything going on.

"Giwa!" I heard the usual high-pitched voice call. Of course, we all know who that should be by now.

Hassana Alfa.

And ofcourse, my guess was accurate. When I looked up from my phone to the direction I heard my name being called, I saw Hassana literally sprinting in excitement towards me. I noticed Prissy by her side as well, smiling with all her teeth and rather walking a few paces behind Hassana.

"I was just coming from Prissy's class and Jesusssss! You HAVE to see the struggle it was to come to this class! If you see the crowd surrounding Nova!" Hassana told me as soon as she and Prissy got to my desk.

"All my class girls are now packing themselves like flies there. The Hallway is so crowded." Prissy came in, rolling her eyes and squeezing her lips thereon, like she was disgusted with her classmates' childish behavior.

I was disgusted too, so I wouldn't blame her.

"Did you see Shade's post last night?!" Hassana asked me with wide excited eyes.

Hassana's excitement, though..

"Everyone did," Ivandor's voice came beneath me. This confused both girls in the process because they didn't know he was there lying on my laps, so they craned their heads forward to see who just spoke.

"So, you're even here!" Hassana came in immediately, and Ivandor just raised a hand up and gave a peace sign as a reply.

I barely chuckled and Hassana just took a seat opposite ours to face us and Prissy, rather, just sat on the table.

"Shade and Nova already have their own joint fan pages," Hassana said. "Who even creates all those fan pages?"

"Probably someone who doesn't have anything better to do," Ivandor answered.

"I'd say someone like Miranda Archibong," Prissy came in. "You have to see what she posted this morning on her IG."

Hassana's eyes went up to her. My attention was turned to her as well. I also wanted to know too.

"She posted a picture of Shade and Nova and said something about going to the same school with them," Prissy enlightened us in a very dismissive tone.

Wait, she actually did that?? That's so low.

"That's a bit shallow." Hassana responded immediately, with a small frown on her face.

With Prissy's dismissive tone and Hassana's response, it was clear that even they thought it was pretty low too.

"I don't get it, though." I had to speak up.

When I got all their attention, I continued;
"Why is it that people only care about you when you've blown. It's sickening. Most of these girls that are suddenly all about Nova right now, didn't even give too much attention to him last week. Now, all of a sudden, because the whole of Nigeria is talking about Nova Igwe, all of them now want to famz?"

"I'm telling you. Better famzing oo," Hassana seconded.

"That's just the way of the world," Ivandor spoke beneath me. "There are bound to be fake people who only care about you when things are rosy. Sad."

"Very sad." I added.

Just then, Nova Igwe walked into the classroom. Oh so finally the crowd decided to go the poor boy his breathing space.

I noticed a few number of people looking his direction and side talking. That attention wasn't given to Hassana and Prissy when they walked in.

As Nova's eyes darted to our direction, his eyes lit up and his smile widened immediately.

I laughed softly. He was always so happy.

"Xup, bro!" Ivandor said beneath me, raising an arm to give the peace sign as soon as Nova got to us.

I looked down on him and chuckled a little. What's up with him and this peace sign today, anyways?

"I see you, bro!" Nova taunted with that same adorable smile on his face as he looked in to see Ivandor lying on my laps.

"Yeah, yeah. He's laying in his queens bosom," Hassana said to Nova. "Where's your Queen?"

"Word says Shade Onam is having her party booth today so she won't be in school. Although, I wonder why she hasn't texted this morning," Nova answered promptly. "But yes, I keep tabs on her."

"You, stalker!" Prissy taunted.

"I could major in that." He retorted to Prissy like it was a suggestion. "But hey, baby steps." he shrugged.

"A stalker celebrity?" Hassana teased Nova, causing an adorable smile to appear on his face. "Doesn't really mix well if you ask me."

Nova laughed a quick laugh as he took a seat to face us oppositely. The same way Hassana did earlier.

"Funny enough, yunno. A lot of things were on my future plans, but being famous...well.. wasn't exactly part of it," he told us and the humor in this tone was contagious.

"Well, sometimes we don't have to plan for things to happen," Prissy came in.

"Now that you're here, Nova, let me fill you in on the comments about you on Tunde Ednut's page," Hassana beamed.

"Noooo, pleasssseee. Comments are starting to give me a headache!" Nova declined immediately.

"The first one!" Hassana announced, totally ignoring Nova and speaking in between laughs.

"This person says 'I think I've seen that guy before. He goes to my church'," Hassana read out loud, eyes fixed on her phone screen.

Ofcourse, everyone would have seen Nova or somehow knew him all of a sudden. Sarcasm intended.

"Okay okay and this other one says 'he's fine though. But I'm not a fan of light skinned boys'," Hassana read out again.

"Woahhhh! Nooo, naww! That's racist!" Nova cut in, sniggering afterward.

"So racist!" Prissy agreed. I chuckled, and Hassana tried to control her laughter to read the next one.

"This other one says 'Why is his nose so weird? I don't like this guy. Period'." Hassana read out again.

Nova's hands first jumped to his nose and he immediately broke down in a highly contagious laughter that rubbed off on all of us immediately, even Ivandor beneath me, who I doubted was even listening laughed too.

"What the Hell! What's wrong with my nose!?" Nova asked us. He wasn't offended, just very amused. C'mon, could Nova even get offended? I have never seen that happen before.

"But how does this person hate Nova for no reason?" Hassana asked, as soon as the laughter died down.

"You guys. Sometimes, people don't have reasons to hate other people," I said, answering Hassana's question.

I mean, look at a guy like Nova Igwe. Sweet, nice and just adorable at heart. But someone somewhere who knows absolutely nothing about him has just plainly decided they don't like him. Just like that.

"Such is life." Ivandor came in, and for a second, I was scared this wizard just read my mind. But then, I figured he was agreeing to the last thing I said.

"Sometimes, it's jealousy. A lot of Nigerians don't like to see people succeed." he continued.

Very true.

"Especially if they're still young." Ivandor went on still. "Let's put Nova aside for a moment, and talk about someone like Rema, for example. He's young, he's talented, and he's doing well in life. Those are the exact things that can spite hatred in a typical shallow minded Nigerian."

Ouch.

Ivandor continued;

"Now, I'm not talking about the people who aren't his fans, because me, personally, I'm not much of a Rema fan. However, I won't deny the fact that he is very talented. Still, I can't really blame people who aren't fans of Rema like me too, because it's simply preference in music taste and that's completely understandable. But then that's one thing to not be a fan and another to completely despise the boy's entire existence. That's just very wrong, because you know absolutely nothing about him. He's never given off any signal that is to be questioned before. He's just a kid living his fucking dream. If you want to hate on his music, that's good and fine. But, when you extend your hatred to his whole entire being, there may just be a sick problem with you. Honestly, that kind of person should check themselves. It's a clear sign that they don't like seeing people succeed in life."

After Ivandor finished talking, we were all quiet for a while.

"Agreed, actually." I eventually said, breaking the silence. "And truthfully, if you ask these people in question why they hate the kid, they can't come up with a reasonable answer."

"Point. Period." Prissy added.

"Well, me I like Rema oo," Hassana said in a playful tone that added a bit of humor back into the air.

God, what would I do with this girl??

"Would you guys believe me if I tell you I've never felt jealousy before?" Nova said all of a sudden.

I raised an eyebrow at him.
Oh c'mon! Everyone has been jealous of something at one point in their lives.

"No, seriously. I haven't. I have never felt the need to be jealous before. Maybe, I've felt intimidated before, yeah, but not necessarily jealous. " Nova elaborated.

"Intimidation. Jealousy. What's the difference?" Prissy asked, forehead creased in absolute confusion.

"I think I understand Nova. When you're jealous, you're sort of angry about something you wish you had and angry at the person who has that, but when its intimidation, you sort of feel..umm.. brought down or insecure about yourself rather... It may be temporary, but if it lingers on, it can turn to jealousy though."

It was Hassana who answered that. And to be honest, this girl usually surprised me with the sudden sense she had.

"Like Ivandor for example..," Hassana added.

"Wait, what?" Ivandor exclaimed, getting up for the first time from my laps and sitting upright to look at Hassana. Surprise was written all over his face.

"No, no, let me finish!" Hassana said in between laughs.

"I'm saying, Ivandor for example. A lot of guys in our set hate his guts. All that didn't just start in one day. It was probably little by little. When they start seeing that he's the one girls want to pay attention to the most. He's the lead at anything sports and he is a star student academically. It starts by the others feeling insecure little by little, then before you know it, hatred and jealousy is spited." Hassana explained.

Ivandor's eyebrows were raised in amusement as Hassana spoke.

"Someone like Marcus Acha. I can bet you millions that the guy hates your guts, Ivandor." Prissy deadpanned.

Ivandor nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I noticed that too."

"Wait, are you guys serious??" Nova exclaimed.

I honestly had no idea about that too. Not even a clue.

"The competition with them is way too much to think. Remember in Ss1 when they did that rank list, he came second to Ivandor in most good-looking," Hassana reminded us.

"Not even that alone. You have to see what goes on on the field during sports. It's like a never ending rivalry." Prissy told us. Ofcourse, she'd know what goes on on the field. She was the only one amongst us who actually did sports.

"To be honest, I don't even care. And I don't get why the guy would think I'm such a threat because I think that Acha dude is pretty achieved. Isn't he even the assistant head of the Senior school football team?" Ivandor said.

"Yeah, and who is usually the main head?" Prissy asked him with a sarcastic tone. With the look on her face, it was an obvious question.

"The Sports master." Ivandor answered.

"The Sports master and?" Prissy hinted, tilting her head a little. Once again, the look on her face made it clear it was still an obvious question.

"The Sports Prefect." Ivandor answered, a corner of his mouth lifting in a slightly embarrassed smile.

"And who is our Sports Prefect?" Prissy pressed on.

Ivandor is.

"Whatever, dude!" Ivandor said, laughing slightly and dismissing the topic to lie down back on my laps where he was from the beginning.

"He's ALWAYS coming second to Ivandor," Prissy told us.

"Then, why doesn't he push himself instead of sitting down and hating?" I just had to ask.

"That's the thing. What if he already has, and still falls in second?" Hassana said.

"Then, he should let it be!" I answered promptly.

"Word. I live by a 'no stress' policy and that's the best thing I've ever done to myself." Nova told us.

"Which I great," I told Nova. "But that aside, I really think people should start learning how to work to outdo themselves instead of outdoing other people. Make yourself better instead. And so what, if there is still someone better than you. That shouldn't matter. Your joy should be that you made yourself even better than you were in the first place. That's enough satisfaction to me." I said.

"Giwa with the wise words," Nova chanted for me.

"No, no, seriously," I said, trying not to laugh. "If people choose to make other people's successes their priority instead of working for themselves, they're bound to be miserable in life." I told them all.

"Before you know it, they'll start going to juju man to look for who to kill," Hassana joked.

"What's the point of these diabolic people anyway?" Prissy came in.

"For real, I think it's stupid too." I said. "How someone would have all that charm and voodoo and they prefer to use it to kill other people out of jealousy, instead of using it for their own advantage. If you just have to be diabolic in life, why don't you go ahead and charm the owners of a rich company like Shell to employ you? Why don't you use all that black magic to make your life better than the people you're are envying?"

Ivandor answered that question.

"You know, sometimes, people's hatred for others surpasses their love for themselves." He stated plainly.

Just that moment thereon, the bell for second period went.

"Damn, did we just talk out way through our free period!?" Hassana whined bitterly.

I watched as Prissy suddenly stood up.

"You guys, I have to go." she immediately told us. It almost sounded urgent. She didn't let us respond and she started to leave.

Just as Prissy started to make her way out of the class, I saw Yure Adediji walking inside the class.

I could have sworn I saw eye contact that lasted for about three seconds made between those two - Yure and Prissy.

Eyebrow raised?

Prissy, however, put her head down and walked out of the class immediately and Yure, rather walked into the class akwardly, rubbing the back of his neck like he was uneased.

Was I the only one that noticed that?

And where had Yure been all morning?

"Yure!" Hassana called out to him immediately. With the excitement in her tone, I bet she didn't notice anything strange with his behavior.

Yure's eyes darted our direction and he forced a smile on his face as he walked towards us.

Now, I'm not Ivandor who can look at someone and easily tell their deepest emotions. But it was damn clear that something was on Yure's mind. Something was eating him up.

"Where's your girlfriend?" Hassana popped the question.

He sort of backed up slightly.
Christ, this guy was horrible at keeping his composure.

Only God knows what was on his mind.

"K-kris?" He stammered and a brow of mine raised.

Which other girlfriend are we talking about of it wasn't Krisdana?

Notice how Ivandor had not even acknowledged Yure's presence. But he was the first person to greet Nova when he came here. Made me wonder is everything was okay with the two.

"Kris should be in school soon..," Yure finally said, sounding very unsure.

I could have sworn I heard Ivandor make a sound beneath me. Yure heard it too. When he looked in to see Ivandor lying on me, his eyes widened for a second before he forced on a neutral face. He probably hadn't noticed Ivandor was even here, and with his reaction, I didn't need a saint to tell me something was definitely wrong.

"Bro, what happened to Krisdana last night? Is she good?" Nova asked Yure, seeming very concerned.

All these questions seemed to be setting Yure on the edge. Why was he so nervous?

That moment, Ivandor got up again from my laps where he laid, and adjusted himself on the seat next to mine. His eyes slowly moved up and were set dead on Yure.

"Krisdana is not coming to School today," Ivandor said plainly.

"Wait, what?" I said.

"She has stuff to deal with." Ivandor said, his eyes cold and glassy, still fixed on Yure who looked like he wanted the ground to swallow him.

What was going on? Should I ask?

I didn't have the chance to.

That moment, The English teacher walked into the class and we seperated to our seats.

For some reason, I was unedged. I couldn't stop feeling like something was wrong. Very wrong.

But what?

That's a wrap ooo!!!
I actually wanted to post two chapter at once, but let me let this one out first. Expect a second update this evening, guyssss!!!!❤️❤️❤️
