14. Vacation Days

"and lets just say the neighbours have never been more pissed at teenagers than they were that night."

"I mean, we did climb on top of the roof, and screamed our heads off to Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' and John Travolta's 'You're the One That I Want' from Saturday Night Fever." said Caroline with a laugh. She pressed the bottle of bourbon to her lips and took a long drink.

"Mom came from her night shift to find us dancing like idiots. I was tipsy so you can imagine how much alcohol we had in us. This one," she added, pointing at Maeve, "was blackout drunk."

"I was not!" argued Maeve defensively.

"No, you were." Caroline countered. "Mae...come on, I was not entirely drunk, okay. I remember you crushing hard on John Travolta and belting out to every one of his song like he was listening to you."

"Really?" Maeve glanced at Caroline with a challenge. "then why do I have a recording of you singing every song from Saturday Night Fever on tape?" Caroline's face turned red as she realized she had put her foot in her mouth.

"You do not."

"Yes I do. I actually do." Maeve turned to Klaus with a mischevious glint sparkling yet again in her eyes. "Nik, would you like to see it?"

Klaus smirked hiding the obvious grin. "I would love to see it." Maeve got up from her place on the floor but immediately sank back down as Caroline practically pranced on top of her.

"No he does not." said Caroline, with an ultimatum. "He does not want to see it."

"I hardly think it would be that bad Caroline. I would love to hear you sing."

"Oh she's got a beautiful voice. You should hear her sing. Come on now Caroline, don't deprive them of your voice."

Caroline looked sternly at Maeve, "fine. You know what? Sure, let everyone watch that tape, but only if I get to show them the aftermath of your culinary skills. Yeah that's right, the burnt pasta?"

"That is not news." said Kol, "we all know how horrible cook Mochatini is. You singing...now that's new." Maeve whipped her head around to look at Kol.

"How dare you!"

Kol just shrugged his shoulders, "What? That is true and you know it." Ezekiel snickered at Kol's explanation.

"What are you laughing at. At least she didn't burn the bloody apartment down." Maverick defended Maeve, immediately flatning Ezekiel's smirk.

"Oh...tell me more about this." said Kol already invested in the story. Maverick shifted and crossed his legs.

"Ezekiel stayed over one night, right? I was like, we'll order something or have Grace, my housekeeper cook us something. But no no no no no no...Mr culinary expert, the next Gordon Ramsey wanted to impress me with his great cooking. He goes 'Mon cherie, let me entice you with my very special beef bourguignon. I will prepare it just for you.' I was all in. Like, the last time I had it was when I was in France. So, I let him take over. I had a few emails to send and work shit, so I was in my home office. Next thing I know, the smoke alarm is beeping like crazy and there's fire all over kitchen stove. Ezekiel, your to-be Alpha just stared at it. Like, frozen in place."

Everyone was in a fit of laughter hearing Maverick's story. Ezekiel was slowly turning red in the face. "Don't look at me like that darling, I had to physically drag you out of the house that night. The firefighter's came and extinguished the fire. Lets just say it turned out to be Beef catastrophe."

"In my defense," began Ezekiel but Amara shut him down immediately.

"You have no defense, stop it."

"I do." Ezekiel argued, crossing his arms. "Your kitchen just wasn't equipped to handle my culinary cabaret." he craned his neck up attempting to show off.

Everyone stared at him silently for a few seconds before every single one of them fell into a fit of laughter. "I hate all of you!" said Ezekiel pouting.

"Come on now darling, don't be mad. We're just having fun." Maverick swung his arm around Ezekiel's shoulders and placed a kiss to his temple. Ezekiel placed his hands on top of his arm,

"Stop being mushy, Boss. You're lucky I love you, or I'd kick you."

Maverick smiled with a blush, "I love you too, my moon."

"Urgh." Maeve gagged at the sight of them being romantic with each other. "I officially revoke the nickname Moony. Never call me that."

"Should I call you Moony then?" asked Elijah suddenly. Maeve narrowed her eyes at him slightly. She pressed two of her fingers under his chin. She turned his head to each side as she inspected him.

"Nah, you are nothing like Padfoot." she said before she went back to the tub of ice cream in her lap.

Elijah blinked his eyes as a foolish grin slowly curled on his lips. "What do you say, I should call you?"

"My name." she said in a matter of fact tone.

"Ouch." mumbled Klaus biting the inside of his cheek.

Another two weeks had passed since Maeve recovered──slightly...from the attack. Under the care of Doctor Abishola and constant positive affirmations paired with pampering from everyone around, Maeve was on a healthy road to coming back to her truth.

Amara and Ezekiel had made the Mikaelson residence their second home. So had Caroline. Maverick visited during meals and stayed the nights on some days.

Safe to say, Maeve was nursed and pampered immensely by everyone. Slowly the day dissolved and night arrived. Ezekiel and Amara excused themselves to look over some business and so did Maverick. Kol wanted to leave the house──something about enough family time for a year.

It was only Caroline, Klaus, Elijah and Maeve left in the parlor. "So? What next?" inquired Maeve awkwardly glancing around the room.

"I was wondering if you could ask Caroline if she would be willing to join me on a tour around the city." said Klaus eyeing Caroline for a brief moment. A light blush covered Caroline's cheeks which she attempted to hide by turning her head away.

Maeve smiled looking over at Caroline, "Delacour? My pretty Veela, put this baby out of his misery and join him on a city tour."

Caroline looked at Maeve, narrowing her eyes down and then peered at Klaus. "Sure. Only because you two need privacy." she said with a challenging look.

Maeve pursued her lips and nodded her head. "Thank you so much Caroline, how will I ever thank you?"

"Shall we?" Klaus looked at Caroline. "Cafe lemonte upstate offers a wide choice in wine." he said suggestively.

"We'll see if they are any good." both got up and walked out of the parlor stealing smiles away from the other's gaze.

Maeve and Elijah watched them leave. After five seconds of quiet both giggled childishly. Maeve leaned her head back, resting it on the foot of the bed. She tilted her head to her left glancing over at Elijah. He was sitting by the window, leaning against the wall. He had his left leg stretched out and right folded with his arm resting on the knee.

Just for the day, Elijah had ditched the suit and settled on black jeans and a powder blue v-neck t-shirt. He looked her way with a soft smile catching her staring at him.

"It is not gentlemanly to stare, Ms Kalon." he told her. Maeve smiled blushingly and averted her eyes. He turned to him again, this time she tapped the space to her right.

Taking his cue, he stood up and took the seat next to her on the floor. Maeve didn't hesitate to snuggle close to him.

"So." she said patting her knees. "Should I ask what happened to Lilly or just Sherlock Holmes a space of uneven ground around here somewhere? Newly build wall."

"I like that you've resorted to humour like before."

"How can I move past it, unless I talk about it?"  asked Maeve, trying to keep the frustration out of her voice. "Doctor Asina has been a great help, but she says I need to find a way to deal with it. If I talk about her, I can move past it, right?"

"No. Not this time." He adamantly shook his head. "You needn't worry about Lilly. She is getting what she deserves."

"Good."

"How did your therapy sessions go today?"

"It went well. We mostly talked about you guys."

Elijah looked at her with an amused grin. "Us?" he asked playfully.

Maeve giggled lightly at the comment. "Yes. You all. Without any much, she wanted to know what I feel about you Mikaelsons and Ezekiel and Auntie etc. My thoughts, feelings for you all."

Elijah restlessly averted his eyes from her and focused them on the floor, "what did you say?

Maeve deliberated her answer. She gazed at him for a few seconds before she responded.

"I called for you. There was a time, I don't know how long after I was kidnapped when I called your name." Elijah's heart shattered to pieces listening to her confession. He looked back at her and his gaze was heavy.

"Maeve...I──"

"Let me finish, please." She sat up with a grunt, she faced him. "All this time I thought I hated you. But I was so angry that we didn't fight. We didn't give it a fight. I hated that. Not you. After everything I achieved, I had in my hand...I still didn't feel good. I didn't feel happy. Then I realised, it's because there was a gap."

"A gap?"

"Yes. A gap I didn't know existed until I met you again. That gap was because I wanted you with me. The gap was that I didn't have you."

Elijah gently smiled at her. "I am not leaving ever again."

"I love you Elijah. I love you so much." she said. "That is what I was coming to tell you...when---" her voice cracked.

Elijah placed a hand on the side of her face. "I know. I know. I'm sorry. I love you too."

Maeve nodded her head, shrugging his hand away from her face, "what do you mean you know?"

"Caroline told me where you were headed when Kol and I brought you back home." Elijah told her. Maeve's mouth dropped open in surprise.

"That blonde bitch stole my thunder. I swear the second she comes in, I'll punch her in the face." Elijah chuckled before he leaned in and caught her lips in a kiss. He rested his hand on her cheek as he gently kissed her. Although Maeve was a little surprised by the kiss, she felt a rush of heat travel through her body and she smiled as she leaned into him. Her hand slipped to the back of his neck as she held on to him. He pulled back and looked into her eyes. She could feel the warmth and electricity of his body. She could feel him breathing faster as he leaned in to kiss her again. She closed her eyes and kissed him back.

Slowly, they pulled back to catch their breaths. Maeve blushed and hung her head low, a small smile playing on her lips. Elijah licked his lips and stared at her with a heated gaze. Maeve's heart skipped a beat as she felt his gaze on her.

"So..." she stressed the syllable, "would you like to give us a chance? Maybe a date?" Elijah laughed at her words and shook his head.

"You are something else." Elijah caressed her cheek and tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

Maeve looked at Elijah again. "Haha jokes on you. You love me." she said in a sing-a-song manner.

"So date night?"

"Yeah, but no alcohol. The therapy woman I not allowed to drink."

"Not even coffee?" Elijah asked trying to keep a blank look.

Maeve narrowed her eyes on him, "don't think I don't see the obvious sass, you are trying to hide. This is not gentlemanly behaviour." saying this Maeve scooted closer to Elijah, "Now, sit in place, I need some quiet time and stare at the golden sunset light."

Elijah welcomed her closer to him. She rested her head on his chest and breathed deeply. He rested both his hands on her hips and rubbed her back with his left thumb.

Maeve sighed and hummed. "This feels good." Elijah smiled as Maeve slowly drifted off to sleep. He took notice of every little thing. He kept listening to the sound of Maeve's breathing and heartbeat. He smiled to himself.

Both slowly closed their eyes, in the silence just enjoying the closeness.

Hello World!! How is everybody doing?

So, here's a terrible update.

I loved writing the short interaction between Ezekiel and Maverick. So much that I almost want to write an original story about them, like an AU of course but still :)

Anyways...please please don't forget to vote and  comment on this story. Are you sure this story is good? Better than the previous version?

Take care everyone!

Raven :)
