act one

LAST TIME on Total Drama Island.

23 campers have signed up to spend eight weeks right here at this crummy old summer camp. Then have to face the judgement of their fellow campers.

"It's our first challenge. How hard can it be?" DJ responded enthusiastically, but he was also slightly nervous.

He clearly jinxed it for the campers, because their challenge was definitely hard.

"I did NOT sign up for this."

"OKAY. TODAY'S CHALLENGE IS THREE-FOLD." Chris explained to all of the campers. Everyone was standing on a cliff that was 1000 feet high, all scared for their lives. "Your first task is to jump off this 1000-foot-high cliff into the lake."

"He is a sick, sick man." You muttered under your breath as you side eyed Chris. He had already found his way on the list of people you truly hated, and it hadn't even been a day.

"Chris seriously has something wrong with him." You said with a monotone voice, your arms crossed and a scowl on your face. "Like I'm gonna jump off of a cliff."

________

"PIECE OF CAKE." Bridgette smiled slightly as she looked over at the cliff. You shot her a surprised look.

"Piece of caโ€”" You were about to ask, before Chris interrupted you.

"If you look down, you will see two target areas."

What a jerk. An ugly one at that.

Everyone looked down at the lake, seeing a very wide circle, and inside of it was a very, very tiny circle. "The wider area represents the part of the lake that we have stocked with psychotic," He laughed to himself a bit, though nobody else thought it was funny. "Maneating sharks!" Everyone stared at Chris in disbelief, not expecting their first challenge of the entire show to involve maneating sharks.

"Inside that area is a safe zone. That's your target area, which, we're pretty sure is shark free."

You shot him a look, as did Leshawna. "Excuse me?" Leshawna asked.

"For each member of your team that jumps and actually.. survives, there will be a crate of supplies waiting below. Inside each crate are supplies that you'll need for the second part of the challenge... Building a hot tub. The team with the best one gets to have a wicked hot-tub party tonight. The losers will be sending someone home."

"So.. we're cliff-diving for a hot tub party." You glared at Chris, with a both angry and confused look on your face as you did so.

"Yep! Let's see.. Killer Bass, you're up first." Chris quickly moved on, leaving you with an eyeroll and a huff.

"This is so stupid." You blankly stared at the cliffs edge, overlooking the entire lake.

This was insane.

"Oh.. wow. So, who wants to go first?" Bridgette looked over the edge. The entire team stayed silent, nobody wanting to go first.

"Hey, don't sweat it, guys. I heard that these shows always make the interns do the stunt first to make sure its survivable." Owen hyped up his team. You really needed that if you were going to do this jump.

"So, whos up?" Eva asked the team. You and Courtney stood next to each other with the same look.

"Ladies first." Duncan offered with a sly smile. You and Courtney side eyed him, Courtneys with the intent of just looking over, but yours was an angered look.

"Fine. I'll go." Bridgette offered, very kindly.
"It's no big deal, just an insane cliff dive into a circle of angry sharks." She encouraged herself before quickly jumping off and landing in the target area.

"She actually went!" You exclaimed in pure shock. You thought Bridgette would offer, then chicken out and not jump. But no, Bridgette stuck to her word and gained the first point for the Killer Bass.

"She did it! Yeah! YEAH, I'm next." Tyler exclaimed, enthusiastically. He ran back a bit, with Eva and Geoff following his every move with their heads. This was not going to end well.

"Cowabunga!" Tyler cheered as he jumped off the cliff. "OH!"

"Ouch.." You looked over the edge at Tyler, who landed on a bouy. "At least he got in the circle!" You tried to make good out of Tyler absolutely wrecking himself when he jumped. But there was no use, the boy was a walking safety hazard.

Geoff and Eva were next. You were about to jump, but Duncan was right behind you. Breathing heavily. "Quit breathing down my neck, it stinks."

"Okay, does everything stink to you?" Duncan put his hands on his hips.

"Yeah, it does, especially from you. Now, back up a bit." You rolled your eyes. "I'd like a little personal spa- AHH!" You screamed as Duncan shoved you off. "I HATE YOU!" You shouted just before landing in the water. Duncan jumped off next with no emotion.

"Duncan seriously irks me." You narrowed your eyes in anger. "I'm going to shave off his ugly mohawk real soon."

ย  ย ย  "OKAY, CAMPERS, THERE'S ONLY ONE PERSON LEFT." Chris used his megaphone to announce that Owen was the last person who had to complete the challenge for the Gophers to win. "You guys need this jump for the win!" He looked at Owen, "No pressure, dude. Okay, there's pressure!"

The Screaming Gophers began cheering for Owen to jump, as he put on his arm floaties and got ready to jump into the lake.

"Oh, I was pretty darn nervous. See, the thing is, I'm not that strong a swimmer." Owen shrugged casually, but with a nervous face.

"I'm looking at this guy and thinking, 'There's
no way he's gonna make it'."

Gwen had a worried look on her face. "I actually thought, 'If he jumps this'..." Her face relaxed to her normal monotone look. "..'He's gonna die'."

________

YOU STARED AT THE CLIFF as Owen began to get ready to jump into the lake.

There's no way he's going to make this.

Owen made it in the safe zone, creating a humongous splash that totally wiped everyone out. You were lying on your stomach, in front of Bridgette. You had to snap yourself out of the shock of what just happened.

It was almost like a miracle, a miracle for the wrong team. He.. WON?

"Yes! Yeah! Oh, yeah! Who's the man?" Owen hyped himself up for winning. Though you didn't want to, you had to silently applaud Owens victory for his team. His teammates began cheering and wooping for him, as his victory led to them getting pull carts for their crates of hot tub parts.

"THE WINNERS, THE SCREAMING GOPHERS!" Chris announced, but Owen didn't look as thrilled as he did just a few moments before.

"That was awesome, dude." Trent complimented Owens win, but quickly noticed something was up with his facial expression. "What's wrong?"

"I, uh.. I think I lost my bathing suit." Owen admitted, leaving everyone else disgusted and groaning or commenting about it.

"Gross.." You grimaced and shook your head.

THE KILLER BASS HAD TO MOVE their crates without carts, so the team was pulling them, pushing them, kicking them. Eva was able to just carry her crate easily. You rolled your eyes at Duncan, who was kicking his.

"Ow! I think I just got a splinter." Courtney examined her now hurt hand. Eva walked up to her and picked up the crate with ease.

"Shut it, and pick up your crate." She dropped the crate right at Courtneys feet, and leaned in closer. "Chicken."

"Ooh." You mocked the attempt of an insult, though you knew yours were pretty similar.

"Hey, I'm the only one with C.I.T. camping experience here," Courtney pointed at Eva. "You need me." Eva and DJ exchanged looks, and the team kept pushing their crates.

"Do we?" You asked. As you passed Duncan, you stuck your tongue out. "Keep up, Duncan! You're falling behind!" You teased and continued pushing your cart using your back. He rolled his eyes and kicked his box again, making it roll as it moved forward.

"It might not be efficient, but it works!" He defended himself to you, thinking it did anything. You shook your head with a 'whatever' look and kept walking backwards with your crate, glancing over your shoulder occasionally to see what was behind you.

"Whatever you think.. works." You looked at Duncans crate, then back at him. "Weirdo." You muttered under your breath, loud enough for someone next to you to hear, but not Duncan.

Tyler set his crate down on the ground. "Ugh, I've gotta take a wiz." He walked towards the woods, getting a disapproving look from Eva.

"Hurry up." She said with an exasperated tone. "We're already behind."

"Ooh, I have to go, too." Katie admitted as her and Sadie pushed the same box.

"You do?" Sadie put her hand to her chin. "Oh, my gosh, me, too." They stopped pushing the box and looked at each other. They followed Tyler into the woods, and took a different turn to use the restroom.

You leaned against your box, waiting patiently as you looked around the beach. Courtney hit her eye, creating a loud slap sound. You shot her head up and at Courtney in confusion.

"Ow! I think something just bit me." She pointed to her eye.

"Looks fine to me.." You inspected Courtneys eye, seeing no bite mark or swelling. It seemed normal enough to you.

"All better?" Eva asked Sadie and Katie as they walked back.

Courtney held a hand over her eye, "Can we go now? I think my eye is swelling up." Everyone began pushing their crates again to get back to the campground.

After just a few minutes, Katie and Sadie started talking about how they were itchy again.

"Okay, I have to scratch." Sadie gave in, and they started scratching their upper thighs.

"You guys are way behind the other team." Chris drove up to the Killer Bass. You dropped any enthusiasm from your face as Chris approached them. "Like, way behind. What's the problem?"

"Their butts are itchy." Courtney explains calmly, making Chris turn around to look at her. He's quickly caught off guard at the sight of her swollen and pink eye.

"GAH! Oh, my boxers, that's bad." He exclaimed. You grimaced and inhaled sharply at the sight of Courtneys eye.

"Yikes." You looked at Courtneys eye in discomfort, then shifted your attention to Sadie and Katie.

"Did you guys squat down when you peed in the woods?" Bridgette questioned Katie and Sadie as they continued scratching, catching the attention of the rest of the team.

"..Yeah.." Katie answered with a confused tone in her voice.

"Did you happen to notice what kind of plants you were squatting over?" Bridgette brings her finger to her lip.

"They were kind of oval shaped, and green, and all over the place." Sadie described the environment they used the bathroom in, still itching herself.

"Were they low to the ground, about this big?" Bridgette showed the size of the plant with her hands, and the girls quickly nodded their head. "You guys squatted on poison ivy." You rolled your eyes and huffed.

Poison ivy? REALLY??

The girls' eyes widened and they started freaking out. "WHAT DO WE DO?"

"Oh, no."

Chris started laughing, "No way. That's awesome." He pointed and laughed at the girls, who were dragging their butts in the sand toward the water.

"SOMEBODY HELP US!" They pleaded. You giggled a bit to yourself at the girls screams, but you did feel a little bad for them.

"FINALLY." Harold dropped his crate, along with you, Courtney and Ezekiel.

"Hey, what's up, guys?" Trent greeted the group. Randomly, Leshawna popped out of the box.

"Hey, aren't you missing a couple of white girls?" Everyone looked around for Sadie and Katie, sort of forgetting that they left them in the water.

"They're.. getting a drink." Courtney explained, leaning on her crate, resting one hand on the crate and the other on her cheek.

Harold raised a hand by his mouth. "Yeah, if they drink with their butts." He said quietly to Ezekiel.

"Ha, ha, that's funny." Ezekiel chuckled at Harolds joke.

"You guys are so weird." You stared blankly at them before walking away.

Leshawna stared in disbelief at Courtneys pink and swollen eye. Courtney raised a hand to cover her eye. "Ooh, what happened to your eye, girl?" Leshawna asked with a worried tone.

"Nothing, just an allergy." Courtney reassured Leshawna, though the Killer Bass knew she was lying.

"Think it's getting worse." Ezekiel stared at Courtneys now pink and swollen eye. You nodded your head, a look of discomfort on your face as you examined her eye again.

"Shut it!" Courtney got closer to you, Ezekiel and Harold. "We don't want them to know that." She said, her voice getting a bit quieter than the moments before.

Soon after the exchange with the Screaming Gophers, Geoff was standing on the crates, almost giving a speech to the Killer Bass โ€” who didn't seem interested in even trying to win.

"Okay, dudes, it's not too late. We can do this." He tried to motivate the team.

"Geoff, I think it is too late." You said bluntly with folded arms.

"Ew!" Courtney exclaimed at the sight of Ezekiel sticking his finger up his nose.

"Gross.." You muttered in disgust.

"What?" He turned his head to look at Courtney while wiping his finger off on his pants.

"That's really gross." Bridgette grimaced, a wave of complete disgust and terror on her face.

"Okay, look, guys." Courtney stood up. "We have a hot tub to complete, and we need a project manager. Since I've actually been a C.I.T. before, I'm electing myself. Any objections?" She looked at the team, who were all silent, not protesting against her offer.

"Where do we begin, cyclops?" Duncan asked, receiving a smile of amusement from you. You, Duncan, Bridgette, DJ, Eva, and Tyler all gasped when Courtney got close and pointed a finger in Duncans face.

"Open the crates." Courtney gave Duncan his order, then looked down at Bridgette. "Bridgette, go find those itchy girls. We need all the help we can get."

"OUR HOT-TUB IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSING." You stood up from your spot after you, Geoff and Harold put the last pieces of wood together for the tub. "It'sโ€”" You stared in disbelief at what was now pieces for a hot-tub.

"Come ON! How am I supposed to win against Heather if my team loses on the first challenge?!" You stared at the camera. "And both times too??"

________

After re-building your teams hot-tub, you and the rest of the Killer Bass were standing by the tub, just a few feet away from the Screaming Gophers and their hot-tub. Chris inspected the Screaming Gophers' hot-tub.

"This.. is an awesome hot-tub." Chris put his arms in the air, and the other team cheered at their review on what they built. Chris walked over to your team and stood in front of the attempt at a hot-tub.

He tapped the side twice, then got sprayed by the water in the tub. It started creaking and shaking, before finally giving out and falling apart completely.

"Damn." You muttered under your breath as Chris turned to the other team and smiled.

"Well, I think we have a winner here..." Chris put his hands on his hips, and looked at the Killer Bass, then the Screaming Gophers. "The Screaming Gophers!"

"Yeah!"

"Woohoo!!"

You stood next to the rest of your team with a frown and folded arms.

"Gophers, you're safe from elimination and you get to rock this awesome hot-tub for the rest of the summer." Chris explained, before turning to and pointing at the camera. "Bonus!" The Screaming Gophers continued to cheer. "Killer Bass, what can I say? Stinks to be you right now. I'll see your sorry butts at the bonfire tonight."

"We won!" Lindsay cheered with her arms in the air. "We all get to stay here for another three days!" Her, Beth and Heather hugged.

A hug is not like Heather..

"Yes! Woo, woo! We get to stay." Owen danced, without his pants or shirt on. You immediately turned away with disturbed and widened eyes.

At the next meal, the teams were sitting back at their designated tables.

"So, uhโ€” What do we do now?" Katie was sitting next to Sadie.

"We have to figure out who we're gonna vote off." Courtney explained to Katie, making Duncan smile at his own devised idea.

"Well, I think it should be Princess," He pointed at Courtney. "Or the brick house here." He pointed at DJ. The two gave him looks of shock.

"What?! Why?" Courtney stared at Duncan.

"Because, unless I'm mistaken, you two are the only ones here wearing chicken hats and if we ever have to lift a truck, I like our odds with the big guy."

"You guys need me! I'm the only oneโ€”" She tried to argue her way out of the position she was in.

"We know, who used to be a real C.I.T." Bridgette rolled her eyes in annoyance at Courtneys repetitiveness about being a C.I.T. You and Bridgette made eye contact from opposite sides of Tyler that you were sitting at.

"You've said it about 100 times. Who would you pick?" You picked at your food.

Courtney looked at the table, then pointed at Tyler. "What about him?"

"NO!" Lindsay stood up and protested, making you and Tyler make the same look of confusion.

"Hey, hey, at least he jumped off the cliff, chicken wing." Duncan protested against Courtneys idea to vote off Tyler.

"Shut it!"

"Okay, let's just chill out." Geoff popped up in between the two of them. "Thid is getting way too heavy."

"I've had enough prison food for one day. I'm gonna go have a nap." Duncan stood up and walked off.

"You can't do that! We haven't decided who's going yet." Courtney tried to call Duncan back.

"Stinky-pants is way gone." You pushed your plate forward in disgust. "Let's decide without him." You set your hands on the table and turned your attention to Ezekiel when he started talking.

"Well, I just don't get why we lost, eh? They're the ones that have six girls!" He pointed to the Screaming Gophers. Katie and Sadie gasped, a look of shock washing over their faces, along with Harolds, Noahs and Codys.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Bridgette put her eyes level with Ezekiels.

"Yeah, home school. Enlighten us." Eva stood behind him, and slammed her hand on the table next to his arm. You rested your head in your hand and stared at him, waiting for his answer.

"Well, guys are much stronger and better at sports than girls are." He shrugged, making Bridgette, Eva and you widen your eyes in both annoyance and disbelief.

"Oh, snap, he did not just say that." Geoff slapped a hand on his face, then dropped it with a smile, almost not trying to conceal how much the situation was amusing him.

"My dad told my to look out for the girls herself, eh?" You threw your spoon at him, getting the food Chef made on his hat. "And help them in case they can't keep upโ€” Ow!" You smiled contentedly as the spoon made a sound of impact on his head. The spoon stayed on his hat until Eva picked Ezekiel up by his neck and held him in the air. It clattered on the ground, the metal echoing.

"Still think we need your help keeping up?" Eva asked, clearly annoyed with the home-schooled boy.

"Uh, not really." Ezekiel grunted.

"Okay, guys, let's give him a break." Geoff walked over, and at the sound of his words, Eva dropped Ezekiel.

"Ooh." You grimaced at the sound of him hitting the ground.

"I mean, at least he doesn't think that guys are smarter than girls." Geoff attempted to justify Ezekiels words, though he knew what he said wasn't okay.

"But they are." Ezekiels head popped up from under the table. You narrowed your eyes at the boys ignorance and disability to read the room, and know what to say and what not to say.

ย  ย  THE KILLER BASS SAT AT THE CAMPFIRE, waiting for Chris to begin talking about the voting ceremony. All of the girls on the team were glaring at Ezekiel for his previous words in the main lodge. Duncan turned his head to look at the home-schooled boy.

"Dude, you've got a lot to learn about the real world."

"Killer Bass. At camp, marshmallows represent a tasty treat that you enjoy roasting by the fire." The team smiled at Chris's words. "At this camp, marshmallows represent life." You and Duncan side-eyed each other, then turned back to Chris, focusing your attention on him.

"You've all cast your votes and made your decision. There are only eleven marshmallows on this plate. When I call your name, come up and claim your marshmallow. The camper who does not receive a marshmallow tonight must immediately return to the Dock of Shame to catch the Boat of Losers. That means.. you're out of the contest. And you can't come back... ever."

Everyone's face dropped at the final sentence of Chris's speech, not realizing that getting eliminated meant there was no way to return to the competition.

"The first marshmallow goes to... Geoff." Geoff smiled and ran up to Chris, getting his marshmallow on a stick.

"Tyler."

"Woo-hoo-hoo! Yeah! Place at the table." Tyler sprinted up to Chris.

"Y/N." Chris called your name and you smiled, then walked up to retrieve your marshmallow from him.

"Katie." She smiled at Chris's words and walked up to get her marshmallow.

"Bridgette. DJ," Chris announced the names of all the competitors getting their marshmallows. "Harold."

"Yes!" Harold whispered.

"Sadie."

"Oh, yay! Thank you." Sadie smiled happily and walked up to Katie, and hugged her. "Thank you. Thank you."

Everyone turned to Chris, before he announced the next name.

"Duncan."

"Campers, this is the final marshmallow of the evening." Courtney and Ezekiel stared anxiously at Chris, waiting to hear whose name would be called next. There was a long moment of silent tension, every contestant on the Killer Bass was waitng to see who would get the marshmallow. You twirled your marshmallow as you waited for Chris to finally announce the next name.

Chris raised his hand, making Courtney and Ezekiel start to panic. He pointed at the both of them, then put his arm back to his side.

"Courtney."

Courtney sighed and ran up to grab her marshmallow. You high-fived her and she stood next to you, in between you and Bridgette.

"Can't say I'm shocked. I saw you picking your nose, dude." Chris pointed at Ezekiel. "Not cool." He folded his arms over his chest. "Dock of Shame is that way, bro." Chris directed Ezekiel to the dock for him to catch the boat as the first eliminated competitor of Total Drama.

"The rest of you, enjoy your marshmallows. You're all safe, for tonight."

"Safe this time! I intend to keep it that way. I love Heather, of course, but winning Total Drama will finally be the thing I can say made me better than her! It'll finally make them proud of me." You were determined to finally make your parents notice you over Heather. While Heather had electro-shock therapy to make her a better person, you were just neglected as a whole. But winning Total drama was going to change that.
