๐•‹โ„๐”ผ sun hung high in the clear blue sky, casting bright light over the beach even though it was cold in Forks. The waves crashed rhythmically against the shore, their salty scent mingling with the warm breeze. Erian and his brother, Paul, were engaged in a spirited game of soccer. Erian, in his human form, skilfullymaneuverer the ball past Paul. With his short black hair tousled by the breeze and his toned, tanned body glistening with sweat, he looked every bit the formidable athlete. His dark eyes, so often serious, were lit with playful determination. A tribal tattoo similar to Sam's, the Alpha of their pack, adorned his shoulder, marking his rank as Beta, the second in command and with his fellow pack members.ย

Paul, equally tanned and muscular, was adept at blocking his brother's attempts to score. "Come on, Erian, you can do better than that!" Paul teased, laughing as he intercepted the ball and dribbled it down the beach.

Erian chuckled and sprinted after him, determined to regain possession. "You just got lucky, Paul!" he called out, a playful glint in his eyes.

Paul deftly avoided Erian's attempts to steal the ball, but then Erian made a quick move and managed to get the ball back. He turned and started towards the makeshift goal, but something caught his attention.

The ocean waves, sparkling under the bright sunlight, looked mesmerizing. Erian slowed down, his eyes fixated on the waves as they rolled in and out, their beauty captivating him.

"Erian, watch out!" Paul shouted, but it was too late. Paul easily took the ball back from Erian, who was still entranced by the ocean.

Paul kicked the ball into the goal and raised his arms in victory. "Score! I win!" he declared, grinning widely. Erian snapped out of his trance and looked at his brother, laughing softly. "You caught me off guard."

Paul walked over to him, shaking his head in amusement. "What's with you and the ocean lately? You've been zoning out like that a lot."

Erian shrugged, still gazing at the waves. "I don't know. There's just something about it. It's like it's calling to me."

Paul gave him a sceptical look. "Calling to you? Erian, you're starting to sound like a poet."

Erian laughed, pushing Paul playfully. "Maybe I am. Or maybe there's something more to it. I can't explain it, but I feel drawn to it." Paul glanced at the ocean, then back at his brother. "Maybe it's a sign of your imprint."

Erian chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah, right. I don't plan to imprint soon."

Paul smirked. "You never know, little brother. It could happen when you least expect it."

Erian rolled his eyes. "Well, until then, I'm just going to enjoy the ocean and kick your ass at soccer." Paul laughed, appreciating Erian's spirit. "We'll see about that. Just make sure you keep your head in the game next time, alright?" Erian grinned. "Deal. But don't think I'll go easy on you just because you won this time."

Paul laughed and patted Erian on the back. "We'll see about that, Beta. Now, come on, let's get something to eat. I'm starving."

As they walked back towards their towels and cooler, Erian cast one last glance at the ocean, feeling its pull but also the warmth of his brother's presence. "You think Sam will have more patrols for us tonight?" Erian asked, trying to shift the topic away from his strange fascination.

Paul shrugged. "Probably. With everything going on, we need to stay vigilant."

Erian nodded. "Yeah, I know. It's just... sometimes I wonder if there's more out there, you know?" Paul looked at him thoughtfully. "Maybe there is. But for now, we have a duty to our pack and to our people. And that includes making sure you don't get too distracted by the waves."

Erian chuckled. "I'll try, but no promises."

Paul smiled. "That's all I can ask for, little brother."

As they reached their spot on the beach, Erian felt a sense of contentment. Despite the mysteries of the ocean and the responsibilities of the pack, he knew he had his family by his side. And for now, that was enough.

In the dimly lit shed, the scent of motor oil mingled with the fresh wood of the bike's frame as Jacob bent over his latest project. He was methodically taking apart the bike, the parts laid out neatly on a blanket beside him. Rain lounged on the couch, her legs tucked underneath her, while Bella stood nearby, her hand reaching for the radio.

Bella turned off the radio, the silence settling comfortably in the air. Jacob paused for a moment, glancing up from the bike, before returning to his work. "That song's good. You don't like it?" he asked, his tone casual.

Bella sighed, moving to sit next to Rain on the couch. "Um, I don't really like... music anymore, kind of."

Jacob's focus remained on the bike as he replied, "Okay. No more music."

Rain, unable to resist a chance to tease, leaned in and whispered to Bella, "You've officially become an old soul. What's next? Crocheting at the retirement home?"

Bella snorted, then leaned a little closer to Jacob. "So, I was thinking, if we're going to do this every dayโ€”and hopefully we willโ€”we have to, like, fit some homework in there somewhere. I don't want Billy thinking that I'm a bad influence on you."

Rain chuckled, watching the dynamic between the two. "You don't need to worry about that, Bella. Jacob's already a lost cause."

Jacob turned his head and shot Rain a playful glare. "You, influence me? Please. Also, the only bad influence one here is that one." He pointed at Rain, feigning offense.

Rain put her hand over her heart, pretending to be hurt. "Me? A bad influence? You wound me, Jacob!" She flipped him off, her smile giving away the jest.

Jacob chuckled, "Now that's definitely a bad influence move."

Bella leaned in, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I'm older than you, so... that makes me the influencer, and you the influence."

Jacob laughed heartily, shaking his head. "No, no, no. My size and knowledge base makes me older than you. And Rain," he added, looking at her with a smirk, "because of your general paleness and lack of know-how."

Rain gasped in mock outrage, placing her hands on her hips. "Excuse me? I am a fountain of knowledge! Just because I prefer reading about sirens and mythical creatures doesn't mean I'm not cultured."

Bella raised an eyebrow, trying to suppress a laugh. "You convinced us to build two-wheeled death machines, Rain. Don't you think that makes you kind of young and naรฏve?"

Jacob, still chuckling, turned back to Bella. "Okay, so where do we stand?"

Bella pondered for a moment, her brows furrowing in thought. "I'm 35. And you might be, like, 32. Rain is 12."

Rain turned to her, hands flailing in mock indignation. "Why am I 12? If anything, I'm much older than both of you in wisdom!"

Jacob laughed, shaking his head at her antics. "Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night, Rain."

Just then, a knock at the door echoed through the shed, pulling their attention away from their banter.

"Who could that be?" Bella asked, raising an eyebrow.

Rain shrugged, a playful smile on her face. "Maybe it's your long-lost fan club, Jacob. They heard you were working on a bike and just had to come see the legend in action."

Jacob rolled his eyes, but Rain could see the hint of a grin on his lips. "Or it could be someone with a better idea than sitting around talking nonsense."

As the door swung open, two teenage boys strode into the shed, their energy instantly filling the space. One of them, sporting long hair that caught the light, called out, "Yo, Jake, you in there?" Bella was about to grab her bag, but Jacob waved a hand, reassuring her. "No, it's okay, it's just my boys." He stood up, a friendly smile spreading across his face as the two boys approached.

"Hey, Jake," the long-haired boy said, grinning.

"Hey, guys, this is Bella and Rain." Jacob gestured towards the sisters, and Rain flashed a warm smile, waving as Bella offered a smaller, more reserved wave in return. "Hey."

"Bella, Rain, this is Quil and Embry," Jacob introduced them. The boys eyed the sisters curiously, and Rain could feel their gaze lingering on her. She had grown accustomed to this kind of attentionโ€”being a siren after all, but it does sometimes get tiring.

"I'm Quil Ateara," the short-haired boy said, his voice smooth as he tried to flirt. Rain met his gaze with a confident smile, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "So, the bike-building story's true," Quil continued, glancing at Bella.

Bella responded playfully, "Oh, yeah, yeah. I taught him everything he knows."

Quil shot a teasing look at Jacob, which made him fidget slightly. "What about the part where you're his girlfriend?" Quil quipped.

Rain laughed, a light, melodic sound that filled the shed. Bella rolled her eyes, responding, "Uh, we're friends, you know."

Embry chuckled, clearly enjoying the banter. "Ooh, burn," he exclaimed, laughter bubbling up. Jacob, a hint of nervousness creeping into his tone, clarified, "Actually, remember I said she's a girl and a friend?" Quil smirked, leaning back against a workbench. "Embry, do you remember him making that distinction?" he asked, amusement dancing in his eyes.

Embry shook his head, his grin widening. "Nope."

Rain couldn't help but join in, her playful nature shining through. "So you guys have girlfriends. That's awesome!" She looked at them with feigned admiration, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms.

Jacob burst into laughter as Quil's confident smile faltered. "Yeah, right. Quil's actually taking his cousin to prom."

Embry howled with laughter at that. Quil's face turned a shade redder. "Yeah, that's still a riot. You want funny, Black? I'll give you funny." With that, Quil charged at Jacob, and the two began wrestling playfully, laughter echoing in the shed.

Embry turned to Rain and Bella, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I got five bucks on Quil," he declared, crossing his arms.

Rain grinned, her competitive spirit ignited. "You're on," she shot back, her voice teasingly defiant. She leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she watched the boys grapple, eager to see who would come out on top. This was exactly the kind of energy she thrived onโ€”spontaneity, laughter, and a little friendly rivalry.
