Chapter Three // Tour of The Town
"All right Ponyboy, let's get going," Johnny stares smiling. "If we hurry, we can get done with the tour by about sun down and get you home."
I nod my head at him slowly, all ready dressed in the clothes Johnny let me borrow and look out the window. He grabs my hand and pulls me onto my feet, pulling me down the stairs and outside.
"The fair is in town and I've been meaning to take someone with me so I wouldn't be alone," Johnny says. "Mom and Dad don't like the fair because of all the people and they say the rides aren't safe. But later in the day, it's less people and I'm 90% sure the rides are fine!"
"O-okay Johnny," I murmur.
Johnny is one of the most hyper kids I have ever met and in all honesty, I really love that. Everyone where I used to live was so boring and dull, but here, but Johnny, seemed lively.
A small smile finds its way plastered onto my face and I can't seem to make it go away, even if I wanted. Johnny continues to pull me down the street, telling me all these places.
"And here is the local bakery, every little thing from there is amazing," Johnny gushes.
(Anyone getting Sweets flashbacks?)
"Really," I ask. "Cant be that good," I tell him. "Can it?"
"Oh it can my friend, wait here. Any food allergies or preferences," Johnny asks letting go of my hand and digging into his pocket.
"No allergies and I love anything with chocolate," I inform.
"All right, now stay put," Johnny says walking in the bakery, turning his head to shoot me a smile before closing the door behind him.
I stand on the sidewalk and wait for him, humming a tune to myself, glancing around the streets. Not a lot of people were walking around so I assumed everyone was at the fair or at work.
The door behind me opens and there pops out a grinning Johnny. He hands me a chocolate chip cookie and takes a bite of his own.
"Tell me if you like em," Johnny murmurs with his mouth full.
"Okay Johnny Cade," I say before realizing I added his last name. "Sorry."
I take a bite of my cookie and smile. They weren't that bad at all.
"Pretty good," I murmur with a small laugh. "You don't kid about sweets."
"Nope, I do not. They are my favorite thing ever, besides mom and dad I guess," Johnny murmurs.
"What about God? Since your churchy and all," I ask.
"I'm actually not too much into God and stuff... That's just because my parents want me to be like that," Johnny says, his voice almost sad. "But... I don't wanna be like them..."
"And you don't have to," I say. "Be your own person then."
"You mean I don't have to do everything my parents say or listen to some dumb book," Johnny asks.
(I'm not making fun of Christians. I'm very very sorry if I am offending you. It just goes with the plot)
"Nope," I say, popping the 'p'. "You don't always have to listen and you don't have to take orders from a book."
Johnny giggles and looks me in the eye, a spark igniting in his eyes. I smile softly at him.
"Then I say we do whatever we please, in the legal sense though and have some fun," Johnny shouts. "Let's go!"
He grabs my hand tightly, not enough to hurt, and leads me around more parts of the town. After awhile, we find ourselves at a lake he knew of.
"Ever been swimming in a lake," Johnny asks.
"Nah, always the beach with tons of people," I tell him. "You?"
"I've been coming here ever since I was a little boy with my mom and dad. After awhile, they got to busy to even take me so I come here on my own," Johnny says.
"So what are we doing here," I ask. "Just to tell the story?"
"Nope... We're gonna go swimming!"
"But we don't have swimsuits or towels," I say slowly.
"That's what boxers and sunlight is for silly," Johnny teases. "Now c'mon, after this, we're going to the fair!"
Johnny pulls off his white dress shirt and tosses it on the ground, revealing his tan skin. My eyes widen and I turn away from him, my face burning and I could tell that I was a cherry.
Slowly, I pull off my shirt and lay it on the ground, undoing my jeans and pulling them off. I was finally left in my boxers and I turn, facing him.
He was in his boxers as well, a grin on his face and his hair was messed up from pulling his shirt off. I bite my lip but smile at him.
"C'mon Ponyboy!"
He turns and walks to the dock, my eyes slowly traveling downwards. Shaking my head, I look back up and follow him slowly, standing on the edge of the dock next to him.
"Ready," he questions.
"Y-yeah, I'm ready," I say. "I-is the water cold?"
"Eh, we'll find out," Johnny says laughing lightly. "But hey, we'll do it together..."
I felt his hand lace with mine and he intertwines our fingers. My face heats up again and he squeezes my hand.
"3..."
"2..."
"1..."
We both jump in.
