Minutes felt like hours. Each one that passed, she counted. Getting tired of waiting for them to return, she felt like she was driving herself insane. Her back was on the mattress and she looked around the room and at the two boys she stayed inside with.
Xavier was making himself busy, rolling cigarettes while Ray was attempting small tricks with the fire pick and Olivia rolled her eyes at him, knowing that at one point he was bound to hurt himself. She turned her head and looked up at the ceiling, tapping her fingers on her stomach.
Soon after she had a little cry, she pulled herself together, deciding that it wasn't worth getting angry over. She told herself that she wanted to know what was going on, but deep down she knew that she would regret it. The thought of them being all panicked was what irked her the most, not knowing what danger her and her friends were in if they were actually in any.
"What's taking them so long?" Ray questioned, looking outside the window. Xavier rolled his own eyes this time, looking over at his friend.
"It's been five minutes, Ray" the blonde told him, returning his eyes back to his cigarette in his hand "Why are you so worried anyway? We don't even know if Jingles is out there, and until we do, then there's nothing to stress about"
"Something about this whole thing doesn't make sense" Ray replied, moving from the window and towards the middle of the room where Xavier stood "I mean, why would Brooke lie about this? And if he's not out there, then why did she look like she did?"
"You do realise that we haven't known her for very long, so she probably thought it would be fun to mess with us. We don't know what's shes like" Xavier glanced up at the boy in front of him "Or maybe she just fell in the dirt and out of embarrassment, she came up with this whack story"
"I don't actually think you hear yourself sometimes" Ray said after a moment, shaking his head in disbelief. He earned a smirk from Xavier before he walked away, looking back out the window.
The blonde boy followed him with his eyes before glancing over at the girl lying on the bed across from him, her fingers tapping her stomach in a rhythmic pattern oblivious to what was going on in the camp. He pushed the cigarettes aside before brushing himself off and making his way over to her. Sitting on the side of her bed like Chet once did, he smiled gently down at her while she glanced at him, not returning one.
"Are you okay?" he questioned, his voice making Ray glance over at him. Olivia read his lips, before raising her eyebrows in a 'What do you think' manner. Xavier nodded his head, understanding her mood.
"I'm stuck in a cabin with no idea what's going on" she replied as he pursed his lips tightly "Do you think that I'm okay?"
"You'd feel even more bad than you do now" he told her before bringing his hands up and thinking for a small moment "If you knew what was actually going on"
"Just tell me that everyone is going to be okay" she hesitated, her eyes pleading for a positive response from her friend. He nodded his head, desperate to give her a smile but found himself hesitating before he raised his eyebrows.
"We're all going to be okay" he assured her, as she sighed at his response.
She looked away for a quick second before sitting up properly, crossing her legs and moving closer to him. He scooted backwards, moving one of his legs onto the bed so he could look at her better. She reached her hand towards her pocket, pulling out her notebook and pen before writing on it as he watched her carefully.
I need you to call Ana for me tomorrow. I want to go home.
He looked surprised at her response, looking from the notebook to her face to see that she had a serous look. He looked away, clenching his jaw wondering what to respond to her. He wasn't sure what he could say, because it wasn't like he could force her to stay with them if she didn't want to, it would be unfair. But he also felt like she didn't give the camp a chance, it was their first day here and she already wanted to go home.
He didn't know that it wasn't the circumstances of tonight which made her want to return home. It was the way she felt. The way her friends were making her without actually realising. She didn't blame them, but she couldn't cope anymore.
"Are you sure?" he asked, looking back over at her. She smiled, even if it was just a small one, it was gentle before she nodded her head, letting him know she knew what she wanted.
He moved forwards, gently taking the notebook from her as she watched him. He flicked through the pages, finding the one he wanted before he ripping it out and showed it to her. It was the her house number, and her eyes never left his hands as he folded it up and placed it inside his jacket pocket, before his eyes met hers again. He placed her notebook back on her bed and raised his eyebrows.
"I'll call her tomorrow. I'll let her know" he told her, her face filling with gratitude once she read his lips.
She looked back down at her hands and began threading her fingers through each other. Ray looked over at the two, a questioning look in his eyes as they sat there. He knew exactly who they were talking about, and it wasn't like it was the hardest thing. Like he had said earlier, Olivia had been on edge ever since she arrived at the camp.
Xavier sat up again, Olivia looking at him and not getting the chance to say thank you before he sat in his previous place, rolling more cigarettes. She lay back down again, her eyes darting up to the ceiling, feeling at ease knowing that she could return home tomorrow. She would remember to scold her sister, telling her that she was right for refusing to go, but she knew she couldn't keep it up for long.
Another half hour had passed, and just as Olivia was drifting off for a nap, she felt her bed shake and her head snapped up to see Ray running towards the door. She quickly got out of her bed, standing beside it as Xavier stood by her side.
Ray glanced at his two friends before unlocking the door slowly. Olivia watched as the boy looked tense, before his shoulders relaxed slightly as he opened the door fully and in walked the rest of their friends.
First came Montana, who had a fed up expression on her face. Olivia scrunched her eyebrows together when she noticed the same facial expression on Rita's face, but the sad look on Brooke's face was what made her even more confused. Olivia wasn't as tense when she saw Chet come in last as he glanced over to her, but her heart jolted slightly when she saw Margaret behind them all, a glare heavy on her face. Margaret looked around the room at everyone before raising her eyebrows in a scolding manner.
"You guys know the rules. Boys and girls shouldn't stay together in the same cabin after dark" she said as everyone looked around at each other "I appreciate that it's your first night here and you're not all too familiar with the rules, but they're there and they're strict for a reason. Now, boys go take a shower before returning to your own cabin. We have a big day tomorrow and by all of you running around and wasting this time to sleep, it's going to ruin everything that I have planned"
Before anyone could get another word out to her, she turned around and walked away making Olivia glance over to Brooke, seeing the sad look on her face stay there. Rita was the first to walk out, not missing her chance to throw a glare in Brooke's direction.
Trevor was next, winking at Montana as the girl bit her lip, the anger she once had suddenly disappearing before Trevor left. The rain had stopped thankfully, and they didn't have to worry about the thunder ruining their day tomorrow.
"What did you guys find?" Ray questioned, looking over at Chet who sighed.
"Nothing" Montana told him, striding past him before reaching her bed. Ray nodded his head, moving over to look at Brooke, wondering why she had lied to all of them. Brooke was now sat down on her bed, her arms crossed as she didn't make eye contact with anyone. Chet made his way over to Olivia, who looked up at him.
"Are you still mad at me?" he questioned, making a small smile break out on her face.
"You know I always am" he grinned at her response "I didn't want to leave here straight away, I was willing to give it a chance, but I'm just not enjoying myself. I don't feel comfortable here, and I miss my sister"
"It's okay. You don't have to explain to me" he told her, making her smile at him again. He reached one arm over her neck, pulling her in for a quick side hug as she gripped his waist tightly. They didn't stay like that for long, but when they pulled away Chet looked back down at her "Try and get some sleep, okay?"
"I will" she replied.
He placed his hands in his pockets and turned around, walking towards the door, while Ray and Xavier followed behind him before it was just the three girls left in the room.
Once they were gone, Olivia glanced around, her eyes staying on Brooke who still hadn't moved. She narrowed her eyes again, wondering what had gotten into the girl as the feeling of sympathy filled her.
Whatever had happened, had surely upset her. It was her sad face and the panic Brooke showed which made Olivia doubt herself on if she wanted to know what was going on or not. She figured that even if she didn't want to know, she would find out eventually.

Chet, Ray and Trevor stood in the small cabin, shortly after taking their shower. They began dressing themselves again, their torches being the only small piece of light that they had. The power had gone down, and Trevor assured them it was Margaret turning it off like she does every night
Chet pushed his shirt on, before looking around and picking up his jacket, his eyebrows scrunched together in confusion when Xavier was no where around them.
"How long does it take to grab a towel?" Chet questioned, as Ray and Trevor looked over at him.
"Well, it's Xavier" Ray said, pulling on his jacket "What do you expect?" the three of them smirked at each other, waiting a moment before they were all finished dressing themselves.
They grabbed their torches and made their way out of the shower cabin. Chet ran his hand through his wet hair before shining his torch around the dark woods around them. He couldn't stop thinking about earlier, how Brooke had led them on a wild goose chase for nothing. She told them that Mr Jingles was in the camp with them, and that he had murdered the hiker, but there was nothing there what she spoke of.
That led to another question, where had the hiker gone and why was Brooke so shaken up? It all didn't make sense, and it was only their first night in the camp.
Chet wanted to forget about it for now, he was tired of the day. He wanted to return back to the boys cabin and just sleep. It had been a long and confusing couple of hours, and not something he'd like to relive.
"Well whatever the reason is.. he can shower on his own, I'm not waiting" Chet told them as they began to walk around "I need sleep"
"I feel you on that one" Trevor said, looking down at his feet "Although I don't think I'm going to sleep very well, all I'm going to be thinking about is how Montana and I got freaky. Very freaky... one of the best things that's happened to me" Ray and Chet looked over at each other, disgust filling their faces as Trevor was looking in the opposite direction to them.
"Dude, we don't need reminding every second" Chet said, Trevor looking over at him before he smirked. The three continued walking towards the cabin before Margaret caught them out any longer. They couldn't deal with another argument with her.
"What the fuck!" it was Ray who shouted all of a sudden, as he was slightly ahead of the group. Chet panicked as he heard the terror in his friends voice. He made his way over before standing by his side, moving his head to look over the corner and he froze at the sight that was in front of the three of them.
Brooke was right.
A man, who he had never seen before, was crouched on the floor while a spike that was pierced through his head held him to the wall. His body lacked movement, and Chet could already smell the stench of death radiating from him. His hand came up to his mouth, his stomach swirling and he felt the vomit at the back of his throat.
Trevor was the first to move, moving around the two boys before shining his torch on the body. His eyes were widened in disbelief at the sight of a body there, a dead one. They weren't sure of when it happened, and how long it had been there, but the thought of someone that was in the camp who had killed him chilled them to their bones.
"Jesus Christ!" Ray said, his chest heaving up and down "Jesus christ, Jesus christ... Jesus christ" he repeated himself over and over, and Chet glared heavily at him.
"Stop saying that man!" Chet shouted, his voice panicked as Ray turned his head to look at him.
"Just chill out!" Trevor was stressed as he tried to calm the both of them, but his eyes were still wide and he held his torch on the body in front of them that hadn't moved "Do either of you know who he is?"
"He's the dead guy with a fucking hole in his head" Ray panicked, his head moving back to look at the body. Chet looked around for a moment, not sure if it was some sick prank and the guy was actually alive. He picked up a stick from the floor before handing it Trevor.
"Poke him with a stick" Chet told the man as Trevor looked over at him.
"What?" he questioned, but Chet shoved the stick in his hand anyway.
The elder man snatched it from him, slowly moving forwards as Chet and Ray watched him carefully. Trevor moved his arm forwards, pushing the body with the stick gently and waited for a response. When he received nothing the first time, he poked the body again, a bit harder this time and still received nothing. He chucked the stick away from them before standing back beside the two boys.
"Shouldn't you check his pulse or something?" Chet's voice now became desperate, not believing that there was a dead body in front of them. Ray pressed his hand against his forehead, feeling his heart rattling against his rib cages. He knew what Chet was implying, but there was no way that he was going near it.
"He's dead" Trevor said, shaking his head, making the two beside him look over at him. Just as they took their eyes away from the man by the wall, the sound of wood creaking made them look back over at him, and they stepped back and watched as the body fell limp to the floor, the spike going further into his head.
Ray turned his head to the side once it had fallen, the vomit he was once refused to let out coming straight back up as he failed to keep it down. The boy fell to his knees, looking away from the dead body as Chet gripped his torch so tightly, he could hear it cracking. Trevor moved forwards, looking through the hole where the mans head once was before he shook his head.
"Oh, shit" the man said, as Chet looked at him "I think he was checking me out"
"Jesus Christ!" Chet turned around once he heard them words again, only to see Brooke, Montana and Xavier join them, their faces filled with shock as their eyes pinned down on the man who was on the floor
"Oh no, here she goes" Trevor said, rolling his eyes.
"Holy shit" Xavier said, stepping backwards "Is he... oh, god. We have to help him. Somebody do something! We have to call an ambulance"
"He's dead, dead.. We got to call the cops" Ray said, standing up as his legs shook slightly, getting ready to give in again. Xavier bent down, reaching his hand out to nudge the body before Trevor shouted at him.
"Don't touch the body!" he said, making Xavier flinch back as he moved away from the body "People might thing you're involved"
"Why would anyone think I'm involved? I've never met this guy in my life" Chet glanced at the blonde boy as he sent a suspicious look in his direction but it was quickly brushed off as Montana stepped forwards.
"What happened to him?" she questioned, staring at the body in fascination.
"Somebody put a spike through his head" Trevor told her.
"You were right" she said glancing over at Brooke as the brunette nodded her head "That guy, the Night Stalker. Brooke said she saw him down by the dock" Montana looked back over at the group in front of her as they all looked around in disbelief.
"He attacked me" Brooke cried "And there was a body in the lake"
"We need to find Margaret" Chet said, desperate to get out of this camp. Montana nodded her head in agreement, being the only person giving the boy an answer.
"Guys..." Trevor said, crouching down nearly the body "I don't think this was the Night Stalker... It's Jingles" Trevor looked over at the group behind him as they watched his finger point to the mans missing ear. Just as they all stared at it, the sound of keys jingling filled the atmosphere around them, all of them staying quiet for a moment.
"Let's get the fuck out of here" Ray told them, making them nod in agreement.
"My van" Xavier said, reminding them of their way out. They didn't waste a second, all turning around and beginning to make their way towards the van. They didn't get far, because the sound of Chet's voice stopped them.
"Wait, wait, wait!" he said, making them all glance at each other "Where's Olivia?"
The boys looked towards Montana and Brooke, who had most likely been the ones to last see her, and Montana shook her head as she stared back at them.
"Oh shit... she was asleep in the cabin last time I saw her" the blonde said, making Chet's eyes widen. He looked around at his friends as they all began to worry about their friend. Olivia's absence was now obvious. Her being on her own and oblivious to the fact that there was a killer in camp, put her in even more danger.
"We can't just leave her here!" Brooke said, looking around at everyone.
"No, no way. Look, I'll get Olivia and we'll meet by the van" Chet told, stepping forwards "Wait for us. We'll be as quick as we can" he didn't wait for a response as he bolted off in the opposite direction to his friends.
The boy headed off towards the cabins, and the group headed towards where the van was parked. Chet didn't want to be on his own, but the thought of Olivia being stuck in danger somewhere without knowing what was going on pushed him further.
