in New York City, life is as much of a movie as you'd expect it to be. attending a prestigious high school, falling in love, walking down rainy streets lit by the yellow firefly glow of streetlights. it feels like a dream. 

but dreams are where the nightmares live. 

when four teens pass out at a party and wake up together in a world not quite like their own called MIRAGE, they begin to explore what this new dimension is, discovering powers they could only dream of having. unfortunately, it's not all fun and games, and something far darker begins to unfold.

i'm looking for diversity (especially in actual skin tone. dark skinned people are beautiful, guys, and while i'm asian and love asian people, they're still light skinned minorities, which still perpetrates that the ideal beauty standard is fair skin). i'm looking for detail. i'm looking for consistency. i'm looking for realism! not everyone needs to have a horrible family life, or be an only child, or be someone spectacular. they just have to be. (but like, still be interesting, yk).

things [and people!] you need to know

KING'S HIGH SCHOOL: the high school where your students will attend! 

MIRAGE: the dreamscape, where your kids wake up after that party. No, it's not a drug-induced hallucination. It's real. Mirage is a mirrored realm to our own, and things that happen here (let's say, someone puts an apple on a table) happen in Mirage as well. But if someone were to move that apple in Mirage, it would still stay the same in the real world. Every person access Mirage through their dreams. 

WALKERS: people who live in the real world, but have the ability to 'walk' into Mirage, the dream world. When they dream, they can completely control their actions in Mirage, and retain their memories from their time there. They can be harmed, physically, in Mirage. Your kids will be Walkers. 

PHANTOMS: people who are created in Mirage, and cannot enter the real world. They are borne of dreams. If you had a dream about having a baby, then that baby would be real and alive in Mirage. Or if your mind is hellish and you created a seven headed demon, that too would be alive and kicking in Mirage. 

SLEEPERS: people who live in the real world, but have no connection to Mirage, besides ordinary dreams. They dream in Mirage, and therefore enter it, but they remember very little of their time there, and have very little control over what happens to them. They are also safe from actual bodily harm, since things that happen in Mirage do not happen in the real world.

NAOKI! While Naoki is a top-grade student at King's High School, head of the student council, and the idolised It girl, she's got a reputation for not giving a fuck. She's not mean or cruel, but she tends to think mostly about staying away from large crowds and doing her own thing. She hates being swamped by large crowds, and really only hangs out with Illias, her boyfriend. The daughter of two badass moms, Naoki has learned not to take any bullshit from people, and remains quite the mystery to most of her schoolmates. She comes across as intimidating and scary, a little bit rude and snappish, because she's direct and all business. Polite but honest, Naoki doesn't have time to dance around the truth. She's got things to do, places to be. Demons to kill, maybe.

ILLIAS! The sociable to Naoki's scary, Illias isn't the most swooned-over boy at King's for nothing. Not only is he ridiculously handsome, he's also the perfect gentleman and student, winning the hearts of both the student body and the administration. He can be a little uptight, and very rule-oriented, but Illias always means well, and is always looking to help. Unlike his catty girlfriend, he enjoys talking to people, though both keep a certain degree of removal from other kids. People think they know Illias, but suddenly they can't seem to recall when he told them his favorite color. They all hang out with him, but nobody seems to remember actually getting food with him. Nonetheless, the mystery makes him even more alluring, and many a person has tried to seduce Illias away from the distant Naoki Mae.
