(act two, chapter three: bad moon rising)

Bonnie, Caroline, Buffy and Stefan were in Caroline's bedroom so that Bonnie, who was holding Emily's grimoire in her hands, could make Caroline a daylight ring.
"So, I don't get to choose the ring I have to wear the rest of my life?" Caroline asked them as she looked down at the ring with a blue gem in her hand.
"Hey, if you don't want it-" Bonnie had started speaking, when Stefan and Buffy cut her off at the same time. "No, she wants it."
"Now what?" Caroline asked Bonnie.
"Now is the part where I explain the rules. The witch who spells the ring has the power to de-spell it so if you ever do anything to hurt anyone-." Bonnie's explanation was cut off when Caroline interrupted her.
"I'm not gonna hurt anyone."
"You're a vampire. That means the urge to kill is a part of who you are. The minute you let it take over, I will stop you." Bonnie told her.
"Bonnie, you're supposed to be my friend."
"I can't ignore what happened, okay? If you want to be friends, you have to prove that the Caroline I remember isn't gone."
"She isn't. And I think that Caroline will try her very best to prove that to you, won't you Care?" Buffy asked Caroline with pointed eyes. Caroline quickly nodded.
"Now put the ring on the bed." Bonnie instructed the Forbes girl, who did what she was told to.
"Do you really think I meant to kill that guy at the carnival?" Caroline asked her when Bonnie walked over to the window.
"He's still dead. Now, do you want me to cast the spell or not?" Bonnie asked her and Caroline nodded her head a little. So Bonnie opened the curtains a bit, causing Caroline to back up a little as the sun shone brightly on the ring.
Bonnie looked back at the ring and closed her eyes shut for just a few seconds, her lips moving as she casted the spell on it, revealing that it was done when she opened her eyes again an handed it back to Caroline, who accepted it and put it on her finger.
"So that's it?" Bonnie looked at Caroline confused. "I mean nothing witchy happened. You know, no flickering lights, no gust of wind. Have you even done this before?" Caroline asked, tilting her head to the side as she looked at her friend.
"Caroline." Stefan said in a warning tone.
"What? I just want to make sure that it worked."
Instead of replying anything to Caroline, Bonnie walked over to the window again and opened the curtains. Caroline put her hands over her heads and Buffy didn't understand why. If the sun was gonna burn her, her hands wouldn't help her much.
"It worked."
"What if it hadn't Bonnie?" Caroline asked her.
"Then you probably would've felt it and you would probably vamp speed over to the wall where no sun is shining on." Buffy said to her with a pointed look as Bonnie closed her grimmoire with a sigh.

Later that day, when it was already dark, Buffy had decided to go to Tyler's party, which he had let her know about earlier today. She knew that Caroline was going to be there either so.
But when she didn't found Caroline anywhere and people were leaving, making it even harder for the girl to search for her best friend.
However she found Stefan, who was just ending his call with his girlfriend.
"Hey, have you seen Care?" Buffy asked him as she walked over to him.
"No." Stefan responded as he kept looking around for the new vampire.
"What's wrong?" Buffy questioned.
"Mason is a werewolf." Stefan replied as he started calling Caroline. "And apparently the bite of a werewolf is deadly to a vampire."
"Stefan, where is Caroline?" Buffy asked in panic as she heard a phone ring in a short distance.
"She went to talk with Matt." Stefan replied as he and Buffy walked over to where they heard the phone ringing, only to find it in Caroline's bag in Matt's car, without the vampire.
The two quickly scammed through the woods in search of Caroline when they heard an animal growling ahead of them. "That's my dad's car." Buffy said as she pointed at the vehicle from where the sound was coming from.
When they came closer, they noticed scratch marks on the ground and when Stefan walked closer to the car, his feet stumbled into chains that were tied to a tree next to the car.
"Stefan." Buffy whispered as she looked inside the car, yellow eyes staring back at her. When Stefan saw it as well, the wolf jumped through the window of Mason's car, jumped on Stefan, making him fall on the ground, glass shattered all around him as the two watched the wolf leave.

When the two finally found Caroline, she was pinning Matt up against a tree, biting his neck and drinking his blood. Luckily for herself and Matt Stefan used his vamp speed to bring her away from Matt. "Hey, stop it!"
Caroline did not listen to Stefan who was holding her so she wouldn't go back over to Matt, but the girl kept struggling in his arms, desperate for more blood.
Her face went finally back to normal, when she saw Buffy running over to Matt who had fainted and was falling to the ground. "Oh, my God." She muttered, wanting to get to her fainted boyfriend, but once again, Stefan stopped her.
"No, stop. Listen to me. We need to get out of these woods now. We need to leave."
"What was that?" Caroline asked him as she heard growling close by.
"No, stay down." Buffy said to Matt, pushing him back down when he wanted to sit up. "You've gotta go." She told the two vampires who could die if Mason got to them.
"You and me, we're gonna run. It's going to follow us. We need to lead it away from Matt and Buffy. You need to run as fast as you can. Do you understand me? Go, go!" Stefan told the blonde vampire before the two of them sped away.
It didn't take them long to come back, so that they could heal Matt and so that Caroline could compel Matt to forget about what she had done to him, and making him think he was just attacked by an animal and that was why he had blood all over his neck.

"So what did you find at Duke?" Buffy asked Elena as the girl came walking into the grill.
"What?" Elena asked her confused on how she knew that they had gone to visit Duke University today.
"Stefan told me. So what did you find?" Buffy explained as Elena sat down at the same table as her cousin and laid down a book in between them.
"Katherine's family history." Elena said.
"Petrova?" Buffy asked her as she looked at the title of the book.
"Katherine originally came from Europe, at least that's what Damon says. Katarina Petorva was her real name." Elena explained, telling Buffy what Damon had told her.
"Why would she change her name?" Buffy asked as she started looking through the book.
"I don't know." Elena answered as she watched a drawing of Katherine and her parents taking away Buffy's attention from their conversation. "Buffy, I'm sorry." The girl apologized, trying again.
"Well, I heard Jeremy has forgiven you, so I suppose I could too." Buffy answered, making the Gilbert smile. "But you did broke my trust with not telling me about Alaric."
"I know, but I thought I would've been better if you heard it from Jenna directly. When I found out about Isobel, I wished my mom would've told me and that I didn't have to find it out from Stefan, you know?" Buffy nodded. "But when Jenna told me, I made her promise she would tell you as soon as she could, but you already found out. I even told her to give you extra chocolate! How did you find out by the way?" Elena asked as she realized she didn't know that yet.
"Jeremy. On the day that we read your diary. I'm sorry about that tho." Buffy apologized. Was she sorry for finding out what Damon had done, no. Was she sorry for reading her sister's diary, yes. Just not at the moment she was reading it.
"It's okay. I shouldn't have decided for you and Jeremy."
"But Elena, if you do it again, to me or to Jeremy, I will pull a Katherine on you, okay?" Buffy said, referring to what Katherine had done to Caroline days ago.
"Don't worry. I wasn't planning on doing it like ever again." Elena said. "Are you coming to the barbecue tomorrow?" She asked, but she would understand if Buffy said no.
"I wasn't planning on it, but dad is going and I just wanna spend as much time as I can with him before he leaves for Florida again."
Elena nodded in understatement.
"I've gotta go." Buffy said as she noticed Caroline sitting down by a table, all by herself as Matt walked out of the grill. Elena nodded and Buffy quickly abandoned the book as she made her way over to her best friend, and sat down. "What happened?"
"Matt broke up with me." Caroline said between her tears and Buffy didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around the blonde.
Guess I got some Donovan ass to kick tomorrow.
