AELORA RAISED A BROW, "How do we get sort exactly?" She asked Delphina who was standing behind her.
"Apparently, a hat will be place on your head and he will decide in
which house you will get." Delphina answered kindly. Aelora found herself liking the girl. She was like Coventina but more carefree and cheerful.
"That look like the start of a joyful friendship!"
Anastacius kept his eyes fixed on the door. Any second now, Professor McGonagall would come back and lead him to his doom.
"He seems very dramatic about that sentence." Pandora chuckle.
"Well, it was show that he hates people so." Regulus answers.
Then something happened which made Aelora jump about a foot in the air - several people behind him screamed. "What the -?"She gasped. So did the people around her. About twenty ghosts had just streamed through the back wall.
Pearly-white and slightly transparent, they glided across the room talking to each other and hardly glancing at the first year. They seemed to be arguing. What looked like a fat little monk was saying, "Forgive and forget, I say, we ought to give him a second chance -" Coventina sighed.
"Great." She thought.
"My dear Friar, haven't we given Peeves all the chances he deserves? He gives us all a bad name and you know, he's not really even a ghost - I say, what are you all doing here?'"
A ghost wearing a ruff and tights had suddenly noticed the first year.
"I remember having a heart attack at seeing them." Barty chuckles
"Unfortunately, you are still here." Regulus says while laying his head on Pandora's shoulder.
Barty frown.
Nobody answered.
"New students!" said the Fat Friar, smiling around at them. "About to be sorted, I suppose?" A few people nodded mutely.
"Hope to see you in Hufflepuff!" said the Friar. "My old house, you know.
Some Hufflepuff smiles.
"Move along now," said a sharp voice. "The Sorting Ceremony's
about to start." Professor McGonagall had returned. One by one, the ghosts
floated away through the opposite wall.
"Now, form a line," Professor McGonagall told the first years,
"And follow me." Feeling oddly as though his legs had turned to lead, Antares got into line behind Draco with, with Weasley behind him, and
they walked out of the chamber, back across the hall and through a pair of double doors into the Great Hall.
To be honest, Coventi.na had never even imagined such a strange and splendid place other than the Peverell Manor. It was lit by thousands and thousands of candles which were floating in mid-air over four long tables, where the rest of the students were sitting.
"Hogwarts is like our second home!" Sirius smiles with Peter who was still feeling guilty.
These tables were laid with glittering golden plates and goblets. At the top of the Hall was another long table where the teachers were sitting. Professor McGonagall led the first - years up here, so that they came to a halt in a line facing the other students, with the teachers behind them.
Antares looked around, his mother did tell him how beautiful Hogwarts was but it was beyond beautiful.
Remina smiles, she was happy to know that she will take her time to talk about her adventures to her son.
Meanwhile Sirius was grinning through the pain. He deeply wants to be there for his son and his goddaughter.
James and him deserve to watch their kids grow up, to love them and to show it to them.
The hundreds of faces staring at them looked like pale lanterns in the flickering candlelight. Dotted here and there among the students, the ghosts shone misty silver.
Mainly to avoid all the staring eyes, Coventina looked upwards and saw
a velvety black ceiling dotted with stars. She heard the annoying girl from the compartment whisper,
"It's bewitched to look like the sky outside, I read about it in Hogwarts:
A History."
"You should not believe everything that's from book." Narcissa shakes her head.
Lily nods, she does love books, but she also knows that she should not believe everything.
It was hard to believe there was
a ceiling there at all, and that
the Great Hall didn't simply open
on to the heavens.
Draco quickly looked down again as Professor McGonagall silently placed a four-legged stool in front of the first years. On top of the stool, she put a pointed wizard's hat. This hat was patched and frayed and extremely dirty.
"I am not touching that thing!" Anastacius whispers in disbelief. "It's so dirty!" He complains.
"Get over it, Anas." Aelora snickers.
"Damn you, brat!" He sighed annoyed.
"You-" "That enough." Coventina state firmly.
"We know who wear the pant in the friendship." Rabastan tease. "In ours? Clearly not you." Regulus taunts.
"Damn, who hurt you today?"
"Your dog."
everyone in the Hall was now staring at the hat, he stared at it too. For a few seconds, there was complete silence. Then the hat twitched. A rip near the brim opened wide like a mouth - and the hat began to sing.
"It's starting!!" James says excitedly.
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find a smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black, your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat and I can cap them all. There's nothing hidden in your head the Sorting Hat can't see, so try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be.
"He can read our mind?" Coventina clenched her hand tightly. Aelora gripped on Anastacius's arms. "I am killing that hat." He thought.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart.
Gryffindor cheers loudly, some were even trying to roar.
You might belong in Hufflepuff
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patients Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil.
Hufflepuff smiles at each other while cheering.
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.
The Ravenclaws were clapping their hands with their books.
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
The Slytherin starts clapping their hands politely.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
"I will be the one, clapping you." Coventina rolled her eyes.
"Someone seems angry." Fleamont muttered.
The whole Hall burst into applause as the hat finished its song. It bowed to each of the four tables and then became quite still again.
Professor McGonagall now stepped forward holding a long roll of parchment. "When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the
stool to be sorted," she said. "Abbott, Hannah!"
A pink-faced girl with blonde pigtails stumbled out of line, put on the hat, which fell right down over her eyes, and sat down. A moment's pause -
"HUFFLEPUFF!" Shouted the hat.
"Go!"
The table on the right cheered and clapped as Hannah went to sit down at the Hufflepuff table.
Coventina saw the ghost of the Fat
Friar waving merrily at her. "'Bones, Susan!"
"HUFFLEPUFF!" shouted the hat again, and Susan scuttled off to sit next to Hannah.
"Boot, Terry!"
"RAVENCLAW!"
"Who will bet in which house, the six will be sort in?" Regulus asks.
"Coventina, Ravenclaw." Marlene smirk.
"My son, Slytherin." Lucius grin.
The table second from the left clapped this time several Ravenclaws stood up to shake hands with Terry as he joined them.
"Brocklehurst, Mandy." Went to Ravenclaw too, but "Brown,
Lavender" became the first new Gryffindor and the table on the far
left exploded with cheers.
"Bulstrode, Millicent." then became a Slytherin. "Finch-Fletchley, Justin!"
'HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat shouted out the house at once, but Coventina noticed that at others it took a little while to decide.
"Good, observation." Euphemia smiles.
"Finnigan, Seamus", the sandy-haired boy next to Weasley in the line, sat on the stool for almost a whole minute before the hat declared him a
Gryffindor.
"Granger, Hermione!"
"Oh, it's the annoying girl!" James points out. "Yes, it's her!" Sirius nod.
Euphemia shook her head while her sons act like idiots.
Hermione almost ran to the stool and jammed the hat eagerly on her head.
"GRYFFINDOR!" shouted the hat. Weasley groaned for some reason.
When Neville Longbottom, son of Alice and Frank Longbottom, the boy who kept losing his toad, was called, he fell over on his way to the stool.
"What?" Alice blushes, her face was redder than Molly's hair.
"I will marry the pretty girl!" Franks smile brightly.
"Oh, oh! Alice and Frank kissing under
a tree!" Marlene laughs making Alice even redder.
The hat took a long time to decide with Neville. When it finally shouted
"HUFFLEPUFF." Neville ran off still wearing it and had to jog back amid gales of laughter to give it to "MacDougal, Morag."
"He does look fit to be in Hufflepuff." Frank smiles proudly, he ignores the disapproving look of his mother.
Draco swaggered forward when his name was called and got his wish at once the hat had barely touched his head when it screamed, "SLYTHERIN!"
Cygnus Black nods, he look at the screen.
Draco went to join the Slytherin looking pleased with himself. He grinned at his cousin and Delphina.
There weren't many people left now.
"Moon", " Theodore Nott" who was sorted in Slytherin, "Pansy Parkinson" as then a pair of twin girls, "Patil" and "Patil" then "Perks, Sally-Anne" and then, Delphina Lestrange was sorted in Slytherin.
"I am proud of her." Rabastan wipe his face tears away while his future wife was pouting because her daughter won't be in her house.
"Antares Black!"
Antares stepped forward, whispers suddenly broke out like little hissing fires all over the hall.
"Black?"
"Like the murder's name? Sirius Black?"
"Damn brat!" Remina growled.
"It's mine, Moony." Sirius place his hand over hers while James glare at the screen.
Yes, he does not want any boy near
his daughter but he would not allow someone to treat Antares like that.
The last thing Antares saw before the hat dropped over his eyes was the Hall full of people craning to get a good look at him.
"Black? Why is everyone so cautious about you?" Coventina thought curiously.
Next seconds he was looking at the black inside of the hat. He waited.
"A little difficult." said a small voice in his ear. "It seems, plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh very mischief, fit for a Gryffindor like your father but also very sly and full ambition, a real snake."
"SLYTHERIN!" The voice shouted.
The Black even Sirius started clapping their hands proudly thought Sirius was worried, he did not mind which house Antares would get sort into though.
"Another snake."
"Great."
"Oh, shut up!" Regulus says annoyed catching people off guard.
"Coventina Potter!" When her name was shouted, more whispers were heard. She sighed and walked toward the sorting hat.
"The Coventina Potter?"
"The girl who lived?"
"She is so pretty!!"
"Oh my, such dangerous secret." The voice said. "Do you job." Coventina thought as she communicated with the Hat.
"Ahh, the mind and devotion to books of a Ravenclaw, the slyness and cunning mins and action of a Slytherin yet so brave and daring as a Gryffindor." The voice took his times.
The professor looked at each other with worriedness, the Hat was taking too much time. "Gryffindor." Coventina thought.
"Why would she?" James sighed. Why would his daughter choose Gryffindor? She was clearly a Ravenclaw?
"May I ask why?" The Hat asked. "Because it would be annoying to hear my name being whisper more, my parents were Gryffindor so just put me there, put my friends there too, because of Black." Coventina thought.
"Ah- it's make sense." Alphard Black smirked,
"She did not have to." James muttered.
"What make you think that I would do it?" The Hat said. "If you don't then I will burn you, even worse, you do not wish to know, Hattie." Coventina thought.
"Now, Obey!"
"GRYFFINDOR!" The Hat shouted.
The Gryffindor erupted of applaud while Antares was sulking as she did not get in Slytherin.
"Now that's power." Marlene grins proudly as she watches Coventina walk
to the Gryffindor table.
"Anastacius Peverell!"
"G-GRYFFINDOR!" The hat stuttered, Anastacius snicker amused by the scared hat.
"RON WEASLEY!"
"GRYFFINDOR!"
"AELORA NIKOVA!"
"G-GRYFFINDOR!" "Poor baby." Aelora chuckle before walking
there.
"They are going to cause trouble." Dumbledore thought cautiously.
"I need to get rid of them." He thought.
"Wait!! I lose my bet..."
