━︎━︎━︎━︎𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 baby was going to be a little girl made Theo more excited than she had expected. It wasn't that she didn't want a boy, because by all means she truly did not care what the baby's gender was, she would love it no matter what, but having so many brother's growing up made her happy that her first baby was a little girl. Clint seemed extremely happy about it too. His face had lit up completely with excitement, and he began talking about all the things he would teach his baby girl, that he was going to be the best father ever. Theo's heart had warmed at the sight.
She had debated on changing the nursery, but left it be. She wanted her daughter to be here already, she really did. She couldn't even begin to explain how excited she was to be a mother. She would treat her better than Theo's parents had ever treated her. Her daughter was going to know that she was loved and cared for. Even if she did manage to inherit Theo's powers, she would still love her and she would teach her how to use them.
Theo sat on the couch, letting the television play softly in the background as she kept herself occupied with her book. She could hear Clint rustling around in the kitchen and had debated asking him what he was doing but decided against it. She found out soon enough when he rounded the corner with a tray in his hands full of food. Theo closed her book and looked at him with a small smile, accepting the tray.
"Clint, you didn't have to do all this." Theo softly smiled. "Thank you." She then noticed the look on his face and frowned slightly. "What?" He smiled but shook his head. Theo, utterly confused, looked down at the tray. Then, her eyes spotted it. A small velvet box, hidden by all of the food. She reached forwards and grabbed onto it. She looked at Clint before looking down at the box and carefully opening it.
Inside the box was a beautiful silver ring with a blue sapphire in the middle of it. Theo's eyes widened as she looked at Clint and then back at the ring. She removed the tray from her lap and when she turned back to him he was on one knee. "Theo, I knew from the first moment that I met you that I would fall in love with you. I fell in love with you every single day and I continue to fall for you. You're such a kind and loving person and I never thought I'd be able to find someone as amazing as you to fall for a guy like me, but you did. I love you so much, and I will never stop loving you. Will you marry me?"
Tears fell down her face before a wide smile bloomed on her lips and she nodded. "Yes. Yes of course I will marry you." She let him take the ring from the box and place it on her finger before she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. He happily kissed her back. She pulled away from him and the smile never left her face. "You know, I think we did the whole relationship thing backwards. Usually people get engaged, then married, and then have kids together."
"Well, we aren't exactly like other people, are we?" Clint smiled.
Theo managed a laugh at that. "No, no we are not." She grabbed the tray and began eating, making Clint eat some of the food as well. "We could at least begin planning the wedding, even though we won't get married until after we have the baby."
"We could always just go to a courthouse and get married." Clint shrugged.
Theo thought about it for a moment and hummed. "Maybe. I think I'll discuss it with Eloise. None of my family would come anyways." His wouldn't either, she knew that without him having to say it. "Maybe. . . maybe we can just bring Eloise as witness. Although, I would still like to wear a dress."
"Whatever you want, I'll make happen." Clint promised. He pressed a kiss to her cheek. "We do have to figure out a name."
"Well, do you have any in mind?"
Clint thought about it for a moment. "Lily."
Theo frowned. "No."
"No?" Clint laughed.
"Aria."
Clint shook his head. "No."
Theo huffed. "It's going to be a long few months isn't it?"
Clint smiled. "Yes, it is."
They hadn't been able to come up with a name for their daughter, and although there were still a few months left to go, Theo was beginning to grow nervous. She was starting to show and she had a crisis once a month about all of the things that could go wrong with the birth and Clint would always have to reassure her and calm her down. She felt guilty every time, but Clint told her that it was normal. She never would have thought that when he came knocking on her door that day that this is where their path would lead. Now they were getting married and they were starting a family together.
She loved Clint so much. He was so kind to her and treated her better than her own family ever did and she would forever appreciate him. She knew he loved her more than she loved him―︎although she liked to argue that they loved each other equally, Clint didn't agree, claiming he loved her the most. It was always a battle and she never one and he would always smile in triumph which would always make her laugh.
She loved the life that she had been granted. She saw this as a second chance, a chance to do right by the people she cared about. She would be damned if she messed it up again. She placed a hand on her stomach and a small smile fell on her face when her daughter kicked in response.
