Hiro sat on the beanbag in his room, fidgeting with Megabot. It's been awhile since the little incident he had with you. He's found lately that replays over and over in his conscience, and he enjoyed every second of that moment. It lightens his mood slightly. However, he couldn't help but wonder how he possibly had the nerve to give your head a light kiss.
His train of thought was interrupted by Cass entering the room. "Hey, sweetie," she greeted.
"Hey, Aunt Cass."
"Mrs. Matsuda's in the café. She's wearing something super inappropriate for an eighty-year-old. That always cracks you up." Hiro forced a small smile.
She placed a plate of food onto the windowsill. "You should come down," she said, swapping the untouched lunch.
His blank response drifted across the room. "Maybe later."
"Oh, the university called again," she started, opening the blinds on the opposite side of the room. "It's, uh, been a few weeks since classes started. But they said it's not too late to register." She propped up the entrance letter on the desk.
"Okay, thanks. I'll think about it."
She sighed, then hesitantly walked back towards the stairs. "Oh, and— (Y/N) came over to visit, I'll send them up here in a minute," she added. Hiro eased up slightly at the mention of you, knowing that you were just the person he needed to see. A moment later, he heard your footsteps on the wooden stairs. Then, you entered the room.
"Hey," you greeted in the friendliest tone you could muster, walking inside. You attempted to hide your misery as best you could; you were healing, but it was a slow process. "I just thought I'd check in and see how you were holding up."
"Hi (Y/N), I guess I'm feeling a bit better," Hiro answered, sitting down at his desk after closing the blinds on the window. He opened up a bot fighting website on his computer.
You walked over, your eyebrows furrowing in confusion when you saw it. "Hey, I thought we stopped—" your sentence was interrupted by a notification on the PC. Hiro clicked the icon and a video message from the gang was opened.
"Hey, Hiro and (Y/N)," they all said.
"We just wanted to check in, and see how you're doing."
"We wish you were here, little buds."
"Guys, if I could have only one superpower right now, it would be the ability to crawl through this camera and give you a big hug."
Hiro closed the tab before the video finished.
You offered a weak smile. "They really care about us, they do." You only got a sigh in response. Hiro picked up the acceptance letter on his desk and examined it for a bit, and, to your surprise, threw it out. "Hiro, I—"
"(Y/N), please not now," he implored. You pursed your lips. You weren't going to push it. But, when he turned around to grab his bot, you cautiously took the letter out of the waste bin and scribbled down a note onto the back of the envelope.
You'll thank me later ;)
~(Y/N) <3
With that, you slipped it into one of his desk drawers. He was making his way back to his desk, holding his bot, but it seemed to be getting looser.
"Uh, Hiro? I think—"
The bottom portion of the bot fell off and landed on Hiro's foot. You were cut off by a sharp scream of pain from him.
"Ah! Ow," Hiro winced, sitting down on his bed while grabbing his foot.
"Hiro! Are you alright?" you asked, concern laced in your voice.
Just then, you both heard a familiar, small beeping sound from the other side of the room. In Tadashi's part, to be exact. You watched Baymax inflate in the tight space before your very eyes. You shot an alarmed glance to Hiro while the balloon-like robot attempted to make its way towards you. Baymax tried to squeeze by the bookshelf, causing many perched books to fall from it. He waddled towards you.
"Hello. I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion," Baymax stated, giving his introductory wave.
"Uh, hey, Bay-Baymax. We didn't know you were still... active," you acknowledged.
"I heard a sound of distress. What seems to be the trouble?" the robot asked with a head tilt.
"Oh, I just stubbed my toe a little," Hiro replied, "I'm fine."
"On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?" The same scale from before was displayed.
"A zero? I'm okay, really," Hiro reassured with a shrug. "Thanks, y-you can shrink now." He stood up from the bed.
"Does it hurt when I touch it?" Baymax queried, bending over to touch the "injury."
Hiro backed away. "That's okay, no— no touching... I'm fi— ah!" He tripped over a tool box, stumbling back into you and knocking you over. It took you both a moment to register the position we were in. You were pinned to the ground, Hiro on top of you.
"You have fallen," Baymax reported, bending over the heap of the two of you.
You blushed furiously and Hiro scrambled to stand up. You could only hope Baymax that hadn't noticed your tinted cheeks. "It is alright to cry," the robot tells you whilst scooping you up from the floor. "Crying is a natural response to pain."
"We're not crying," you laughed lightly, stepping down.
"I will scan you both for injuries," Baymax declared.
"Don't scan us," Hiro ordered, pointing a scolding finger at him.
"Scan complete."
"Unbelievable."
"The two of you have sustained no injuries. However, your hormone and neurotransmitter levels indicate that you are experiencing mood swings, common in adolescence. Diagnosis: puberty."
"Woah, what?" you and Hiro questioned, slightly fazed.
"Okay, time to shrink now," he said, clearing his throat.
"You should expect an increase in body hair, in various places such as—"
"Alright, let's not get too in-depth, here," you cut in. Then you dragged his charging station over to where he was standing.
"You may also experience strange and powerful new urges. You will start to feel new forms of attraction, typically towards the opposite gender," Baymax continued as you struggled to push him back into his carrier. "My scan readings suggest that the two of you may have feelings for each other." (A/N: I can honestly say that I didn't mean this to be offensive to any groups of people. Love is love <3 <3)
"Thank you, that's enough!!"
"Okay! Let's get you back into your luggage!"
"I cannot deactivate until you say you are satisfied with your care."
"Fine! We are satisfied with our... woah!" You both slipped out from underneath Baymax and went tumbling to the ground once more. This time, though, you were separated by distance.
You fell to the ground beside Hiro, scrambling to your feet shortly after. Hiro landed by his bed, and he seemed to be intrigued in something underneath it. He reached under and grabbed his sweatshirt.
A quiet whirring noise caught your attention along with the sweatshirt's slight movement. Hiro stood up, holding it out and examining it. Something seemed to be rustling from inside the pocket. He reached in and grabbed the small item, taking it out.
"Our microbots?" you questioned, looking over his shoulder at the bot recklessly moving in his hands. "This doesn't make any sense."
"Puberty can often be a confusing time for young adolescents flowering into adulthood," Baymax piped up, waddling over to you.
"No, the thing is attracted to the other microbots, but that's impossible. They were destroyed in the fire," Hiro explained. He placed the must-be-malfunctioning bot into a temporary glass container. It continuously bumped into the side.
"How is it still moving, then?" you asked.
"Dumb thing's broken," he replied, sitting at his desk. He started reassembling Megabot.
"Hiro, I really don't think that's the explanation," you countered. "We haven't made any noticeable programming or developing errors."
Baymax walked over and picked up the container, changing the direction he was facing every once in a while. "Your tiny robot is trying to go somewhere," he reported.
"Ha! I told you, even Baymax disagrees with you," you triumphantly spoke.
"Oh yeah? Why don't you, uh, find out where it's trying to go?" he told Baymax, ignoring your comment.
"Would that stabilize your pubescent mood swings?" Baymax asked.
"Uh-huh, absolutely," he assured with a hint of sarcasm, not looking up from his bot.
Baymax clearly didn't interpret the sarcastic remark. He headed for the exit of the building, as indicated by the door audibly opening and the bell chiming.
"Uh... Baymax?" Hiro said, standing up. "Baymax? Baymax?"
"Hiro...!" you spoke with a sense of urgency, looking out the window. Tires screeched and car horns blared. He ran to the window beside you.
