THE NAME THAT ROSALIE PICKED OUT FOR HER NEWEST SISTER REMINDED HER OF YOUTH AND INNOCENCE.
Everything about her would be newly discovered like she were a child, so she had given Rosalie this honor of naming her. Wren Cullen was the newest member of the family and was treated as such, though it had come out through a text sent to Carlisle that Jasper wasn't coming home, not even for his things.
That bit would matter little, as the ethereal beauty that was Luna Volturi had come swiftly to escort Wren to Volterra. Keeping their young safe was something that the Guard appreciated about the Cullen Coven, and pleasantries were shared during the short visit to the vegetarian vampire Coven.
Only on their way over did Wren start to talk to Luna, who was far more talkative than she. The woman could speak for hours if given the chance, not that Wren minded that at all. She preferred it, as many compliments were littered within her information dumps.
"You're going to love the city once lockdown is over. Renata, Corin, and I can take you out and show you around the place. Rosalie loves the movie theater in the North, right next to the city lines. Has the best selection around, and the tickets are cheap," Luna excitably explained. "In the south there is a beach with a lovely small cave that everyone throws parties near, I've found that it's great for finding good conversation."
Yes, she'd learned about the lockdown for the Volturi Coven, and she was slightly disturbed that the people with the most power in the vampire world were forced to take such extreme measures to keep themselves safe for the time being.
"I've already promised to take Corin out on a date, she's dead set on the movies. Something's came out during the lockdown." Luna laughed and reclined in her plane seat. "Romance movie, knowing her. She could watch the worst romance movie and prefer it over literally anything else. God, it's been two years since The Notebook and I'm pretty sure I've watched it more times than I've seen her naked."
"You two are close?" Wren asked as she looked down at the phone that Emmett had gotten for her on a quick trip to Seattle.
"Oh yeah..." Luna trailed off for a few minutes, realizing that Wren didn't know anything about romance. Clean slate, sure, Rosalie had explained that, but Luna had assumed that she knew at least a few things. "Rosalie hasn't explained that part of life to you. Mates for vampires are like your other half. Corin is mine. We're in love."
"What does love feel like?"
She was asking the hard questions.
"Love feels like belonging and knowing that someone will be there for you. You feel love when you're with people who care about you, and who you care about," Luna tried to explain to the best of her ability. "There's different kind of love. Romantic love is what Corin and I have. Same as with Emmett and Rosalie. Yknow what, we'll watch The Notebook when we get home, and whatever other flics we've bought for the Rec Room.

WREN WOULD SHOCK THE MINDS OF THE VOLTERRAN VAMPIRES THE SECOND THEY SAW HER AND RIVER RIGHT NEXT TO ONE ANOTHER.
Luna knew this, which is why she not-so-subtly snuck the Newborn vampire in through the back entrance. The young one didn't need that kind of pressure on her when visiting the vampire capital of the world- Wren would likely never desire that kind of attention on herself. She wanted protection, not attention.
She was pretty easy to maneuver through the castle, everyone who would gossip- aka Afton and the twins- were playing air hockey or PokΓ©mon in the Game Room. Wren glided through the castle into one of the guest rooms used to house any visiting vampires or even vampire Covens that wanted a place to put their things.
When Wren was settled, it was decided by Marcus that he would hold a meeting discussing the arrival of Wren, and that her visit was temporary.
Couldn't this have just been an email?
Forever a question that Luna was asking with the rise of technology in the Twenty-first century.
Nevertheless, she obeyed her King and found herself in the throne room, Marcus sitting down in the center-most throne that usually belonged to Aro (he would not be happy hearing about the take over of his glorified chair, but that wasn't here or there) or very rarely, Caius.
"Children of the Coven," Marcus began with, slightly intimidating with just a hint of condescension, "one of the members of the Cullen Coven will be here while Aro sorts out the issues in Forks and within our friend's family. Many things cannot be shared as of now, despite our desire for full transparency. Please welcome her into our home, show her around the castle, and treat her like family. She is a newborn, so please don't try to fight her for a year or two."
Felix and Demetri looked between themselves. Marcus was not pleased and shook his head. "Please, that includes those of us whose gift is extra strength. You aren't as strong as a Newborn. You know that."
The two guards put their heads down and giggled and this time Marcus left it alone.
"Until the issues in Forks and... other places... are resolved, the lockdown will still be put in place. Please have some faith, I hate this just as much as you." Luna doubted it, Marcus rarely left the palace except for political reasons. Or when dragged around by Aro to watch ballet at the theatre.
"We really need to keep morale up, so as of now, you can throw a party in the backyard this Friday. Heidi is bringing home drunk and high humans on various substances. We will also have sober humans. Make the choices you want, but please, please do not destroy any paintings or walls. Aro is not home, he can't figure out about this until he gets home and sees it."
Luna was pleasantly surprised by this. The last party that had been thrown inside of the castle was New Year's 1718, and that had gone.... well. Still, the damage to the castle had been horrible, and Aro had never screamed like when he screamed at everyone to pick it up themselves and never drink drunk humans again because they were all so stupid and he hated them all.
He didn't talk to anyone for a week. He sobbed in his room so loudly that multiple Guards wrote personal letters of apology to him and slipped them under his door. He slowly started to return to normal by the middle of February.
"Isn't Aro going to be mad?" One of the older members of the Volturi asked. "He was really mad last time."
"I hear the phantom of his sobbing whenever I go near his chambers to this day," Demetri commented. "I'm scared."
"What is Caius saying about all of this?" Felix asked, far calmer than the rest of the Elite Guard, who would be sweating if they were physically able to. "He got the brunt of the backlash before."
"Yeah, how hasn't he vetoed this?" Afton asked his questions, "Is he somehow nicer than he was a month ago, when he literally busted us at a party in Venice even though we're allowed to hunt and party on our off time?"
"He said you were sloppily killing in Venice," Marcus questioned Afton's version of the story before moving on to the question at hand. "Caius thinks that if you are all capable of being drunk without alerting the Pentagon or the Italian government, that it will be fine. The police turn a blind eye to us with a few hundred thousand dollars donated to them... we may be able to have a fun night while staying within the perimeters of this lockdown."
This was risky, Marcus had to have known this before bringing it to the group. One whisper of this to Aro and he would be running home with a wish to burn whoever decided to mess with his house again. Yet it had been decided already, seemingly, since Marcus was bringing it to the group now.
"Wait a minute," Luna began as she crossed her arms. "Are River and Wren coming?"
"If they want to, of course they may come," Marcus answered. "I hear that Jasper Hale has insisted on coming to the city to see people, so he may also want to be at the party, though I doubt he will break his no human blood streak."
"Lame," Afton deadpanned.
"He's gonna break it," Demetri began the bet, and by Friday there would be some big money involved it in. "The bet is started. I bet 5,000 he breaks it."
"I bet 2,000 he keeps within the Cullen's lifestyle," Renata said. "Why the Hell would he risk Edward finding out and judging him to death."
"Man, fuck that guy," a lower guard member said from the back.
"You all-" Marcus tried to regain control of the conversation.
"Remember when he tried to tell us about God?"
"Bro, he told me that I wasn't going to Heaven because I'm pagan."
"Same! Edward literally can't keep his opinions to himself," Afton chimed in and laughed pretty loudly. "Now he's dating a human woman."
"I could not be caught dead doing that," Chelsea said. "I turned you when I knew you were my mate."
Marcus groaned and chimed in. "Guards, please, we don't need to discuss the lives of other vampires, especially the Cullens. It's not great that you were told you would go to Hell, Afton, Alaesia, but let's continue these discussions perhaps in the privacy in the Guard rooms and not during an important Coven-wide meeting."
Most of the guards piped down after this, leaving Marcus the room to speak more on upcoming events.
"Since Jasper and Wren are here and are both Cullens, I expect for you to treat them with respect. Many of you are friends with Jasper, but Wren is freshly made and may need help in her first kill. I don't know much about her, but I assume since Luna has said nothing bad about her that she is a sweet person. Let us be the beacon of justice and personal connection that we have always been. You are as much guards as you are people and a family.
"So, I will leave you to do whatever you need to do. It is Monday, expect the party on Friday night. We have things that are getting shipped, so those stationed by the mailbox and front entrance, please make sure to bring things inside and sign whatever needs to be signed. Jane, Alec, you're being moved inside because you're too young to be handling alcohol.
"Afton, Chelsea, Luna, and Renata, as always you are to keep all Guard areas clean this week. Aro being gone means he wants pictures, and Caius is sick of getting harassed in the Rec room. Guards, please stop asking him to take 'selfies' with you, he doesn't have time. Oh, I almost forgot, Poppy, I have responded to the complaints about the schedule posting. The postings are now all over the castle, not just in the library.
"I'm glad we were all here for this chat. Party is on Friday, I'm sure you have clothes to go to it. Drunk or not, please don't repeat 1718. I can't handle that and neither can you."
Maybe this couldn't have been an email after all.
Luna had to get back to Wren to explain all of this to her, and to get The Notebook going on the television.
