Erik "Killmonger" Stevens - Jane is the closest to her cousin than opposed to the rest of the family because unlike them, he actually gets her. As such, she grew to idolized her older cousin over the years and grew disheartened once he stopped maintaining contact with her.

However, when the two meet up again in Wakanda, the two are genuinely surprised to see each other. Always seeing her as his pupil, Erik offers Jane a chance to fight for the justice she always wanted, but when she declines upon seeing how revenge has blinded her cousin from seeing the truth, their relationship takes a different turn.

Viewing her as an enemy, Erik has no problem attacking her (much to her surprise and dismay), forcing Jane to fight her cousin, only stopping when Erik wounds her mentor.

Despite the sudden shift in their relationship, Jane ends up grieving the death of her older cousin all the same. Although she views her cousin as a cautionary tale, Jane still chooses to distance herself from her newfound Wakandian family, believing Erik was right in calling the royal family out.

Personality:
Fierce, headstrong and confident, Jane is someone who knows what she wants. When dedicated, Jane will not stop to obtain her goals/latest objective. She is also relentless and stubborn, two traits inherited by her mother and amplified through her training with her cousin, Erik. Additionally, she can skeptical at times as Jane is someone who values facts.

1. Unlike Erik who is aware of his Wakandian heritage after the death of his father, Jane doesn't learn about her connection to Wakanda until arriving there. As a result, Jane lashes out at her mother for hiding the truth about Wakanda and her connection to the royal family, creating a fallout between them.

2. Because of her lack of exposure to Wakanda, Jane is ignorant of her heritage as her mother refused to let her [or anyone else] know about where she [her mother] really came from. After learning the truth, Jane tries to learn more about Wakanda, much to the disapproval of her mother.

3. Jane is reluctant to work with Everett [as she wanted to shadow someone else] while as Everett doesn't want to serve as a mentor to Jane [initially]. Gradually though, their relationship ends up changing throughout the events of Black Panther.
