πŠπ€π“π‡π‘π˜π'𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐄𝐋𝐓 π‹πˆπŠπ„ it would explode any minute while she was running through the jungle.

The shrieks of the many different animals reached her ear while she had frim grip around the cold metal bow she had from the Cronucopia.

The hot sweat was running down her forehead while she jumped over a fallen tree.

"Kathy!", the familiar, but desperat voice of Finnick suddenly reached her ear. The brunette immediately got the feeling of panic rising in her chest, making her body go numb.

"Finnick!" She screamed as loud as she could, over and over again, but there was no answer.

Kathryn continued running down towards where she thought the beach was located.

"Kathy!"

"Finnick!"

She had just dashed past a large tree, when she felt someone punch her in to her face.

The brunette fell to the ground, her head hitting the floor. She let out a loud grunt, the pain shooting through her probably broken nose. The woman was trying to stand up as fast as she could, but her attacker kicked her into the stomach.

Kathryn let out a loud grunt before she looked up, immediately getting punched into the face again.

She gasped for air as suddenly her attacker was leaning dowm towards Kathryn, chocking her. The attackers hair fell to the side and Kathryn could finally she who it was.

The brunette's eyes widened in shock as she saw that it was no other than Johanna, who had her hands firmly placed around her neck.

"Yeah, pretty scary, huh", Johanna stated as she smirked at the struggling Kathryn.

"Johann-" Kathryn gasped as she eyed the bloody spot on Johanna's forehead that looked like a knife wound.

"This is your fault, Kathy. You didn't help me", her old friend hissed at her while she tightened her grip. Kathryn gasped for air, her widely opened eyes still on Johanna. "You left me behind to die!"

Another desperate gasp escaped Kathryn's throat, her eyes widening even more before her sight slowly darkened.

When Kathryn's eyes shot open, her sight was pretty blurry. Panting heavily the brunette blinked a few times, her eyes adjusting to the dim yellow light that filled the dark room around her.

The young woman let out a grunt while sat up quickly from her laying position. Her heart was beating rapidly in her chest and she inhaled deeply, realizing that it had just been a dream.

She took in her surroundings, the memory of what had happened slowly coming back to her.

She shifted her body forward until her feet touched the cold ground. Kathryn then pushed the duvet away, exhaling deeply.

Her head felt heavy and as she carefully touched her forehead while leaning forward. Just now the woman realized that someone had bandaged her head.

After carefully standing up the brunette approached the door slowly. Peeking outside, she spotted a man, his back turned towards her while he was working on something.

The brunette slipped quietly out of her room and tiptoed down the corridor. There were quiet voices coming from down the corridor and Kathryn thought she heard Finnick's voice.

The woman continued her way and was quiet surprised when she spotted no other than Katniss, who was standing by one of the opened doors, her back faced to Kathryn.

"Katniss?", Kathryn quickly approached her, her head still hurting with every step she took. The dark haired woman looked at her, no emotional visible on her face, "You shouldn't be walking around."

"Neither should you", Kathryn shot back before she pushed past her, her gaze landing on the person that was sobbing on the bed.

Her breath hitched in her throat, "Finnick."

The blonde man looked up at her immediately, his eyes widening slightly before he got onto his feet as well and brought her into a tight hug.

Kathryn closed her eyes while she pressed him against her. The two remained that way while Finnick spoke up, still sobbing slightly, "I swear, I wanted to go back for Peeta and Johanna but I - I couldn't move."

The brunette didn't know what to say. So she just softly stroked the back of Finnick's head, still pressing him against her body, never wanting to let go again.

A single tear rolled down her cheek before the two parted. Looking over her shoulder, Kathryn realized that Katniss was no longer there.

"You're Family was brought here before our arriving", Finnick informed her, while he walked Kathryn back to her room. He ahd stopped sobbing and was now a lot calmer than before. "They're all healthy and well."

Kathryn intertwined her fingers with his as she looked up into his blue and puffy eyes, "Thank you, Finnick."

He gave the woman besides him a weak smile and Kathryn slowly got up onto her tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss onto his lips.

Finnicks eyes closed as soon as their lips touched and his hands settled down onto her waist, giving her an assuring squeeze, but Kathryn couldn't stop herself from flinching at his touch.

Finnick immediately gave her a questioning look and Kathryn grunted, "I'm covered in bruises." She gave him a small smile, "Better if I go back to bed."

The man brought her back to her room and only a few minutes later the doors opened again, her brother, sister and mother stepping inside.

"Kathy", her mother's voice sounded so relived. "Mom." The young woman quickly brought her mother into a tight hug, immediately sobbing.

The two squeezed each other before Kathryn turned towards her siblings, bringing them both into a hug.

She patted her sisters head while her gaze wandered back and forth between Natalie and Grayson, "I've missed you guys."

The two gave her light smiles, "We've missed you too."

Kathryn felt pure joy for the first time in months. Being finally reunited with her family and knowing that Finnick was safely in the room down the hallway was the best thing she could imagine.

Hours passed by while the four chatted and made up for the lost time, but they were interrupted by a dark skinned man, who entered her room.

"Miss Moore. Colonel Boggs, District 13's head of security. I now you've been discharged as well as the other's, but President Coin's requested a meeting with Miss Everdeen and you first."

The brunette followed him without a comment, they met Katniss outside and entered the elevator.

Silence laid over the three while the elevator brought them to the lower level. The doors opened, revealing a large round room. There were people everywhere, chatting or walking by.

Kathryn's eyes wandered up and she saw the many lights that shone down on them, bringing light into the darkness.

Colonel Boggs lead the two women through the people, towards another room that laid further down the corridor.

The doors opened for them to step inside and Kathryn immediately spotted Betee, who was sitting in a wheelchair by the table.

"Ah, there they are, our girl on fire and the courageous tribute from district four, Kathryn Moore."

The brunette woman followed the voice and saw a grey haired woman approaching them, accompanied by Plutarch.

"Madam President, may I present you with the Mockingjay", Plutarch introduced Katniss, who was standing infront of Kathryn.

The woman shook Katniss hand and looked back and forth between the two. "What an honor it is to meet you. You're a courageous young woman. I know how disorientating it must be. And I can't imagine what's it's like to live through the atrocities of those Games."

"You two, President Alma Coin", Plutarch introduced her to them before he sat down.

"Please know how welcome you are. I hope you find some comfort with us. We've known loss in 13, too", President Coin spoke as she placed one hand on Katniss shoulder.

"This is history. Right here at this table", Plutarch spoke up again, but Kathryn ignored the man as her eyes wandered off to Betee again.

The man looked up at her with a sad and somehow very dark look, motioning for her to sit down.

"I apologize. I wish you two had more time to recover but unfortunately, we don't have that luxury. Please have a seat."

The two women sat down besides each other in silence, looking over at President Coin. "Are you aware of what's happened? Katniss, when you fired your arrow at the force field you electrified the nation. There have been riots and uprisings and strikes in seven districts. We believe that if we keep this energy going we can unify the districts against the Capitol. But if we don't, if we let it dissipate we could be waiting another 75 years for this opportunity. Everyone at thriteen is ready for this."

"What about Peeta, is he alive?", Katniss suddenly questioned the woman, seemig pretty defensive.

Plutarch laid the book he had just read away and looked at her, "I don't know. And I wish that I did. But there is no way for me to contact my operatives inside the Capitol. "

Suddenly Beete engaged into the conversation, "The Capitol has always suppressed communication between the districts. But I know their system well. I managed to break through. All we need now is the perfect message."

"Katniss, here's what we need to do. We need to show them that the Mockingjay's alive and well and willing to stand up and join the fight. 'Cause we need every district to stand up to this Capitol. The way you did. So we're gonna shot a series of propaganda clips, propos I like to call them, on the Mockingjay. Spreads the word and we're gonna stoke the fire of this rebellion. The fire that the Mockingjay started."

Katniss eyes stayed cold through his whole speech, trained on him as they filled with tears. "You left him there. You left Peeta in that arena to die."

"Katniss there are so many-"

Suddenly Katniss hit her hand onto the metal table, shouting, "Peeta was the one, who was supposed to live!"

"Miss Everdeen, this rebellion is about everyone. It's about all of us and we need a voice", the President stated as she remained calm.

"Than you should've saved Peeta", Katniss spat back at her in rage before she stormed out of the room.

"Maybe you should've rescued the boy instead", Coin said as she turned to Plutarch, making Kathryn raise an eyebrow in surprise.

Plutarch shook his head at her, "No, no. Listen to me, no one else can do this but her."

Coin shook her head to herself, her behavior signaling that she wasn't convinced, "This is not the girl you discribed."

Plutarch raised his eyebrows at her, "Welly obviously we need to make it personal. Remind her who the real enemy is." Coin gave him a sceptical look, "She knows who the real enemy is. That's not the issue."

The white haired man seemed deep in his own thoughts, "Unless she's forgotten. There's explaining and there's showing. Let her see what the Capitol did to 12."

"She can't handle that. The games destroyed her", Coin stated, a serious expression plastered on her face.

"This is the only choice you have. People don't always show up the way you want them to, Madam President. But that anger, that anger-driven defiance, that's what we want. And we can redirect it."

Kathryn had this unwell feeling in her stomach, like she was betraying Katniss by still sitting in this meeting with them. But she choose to stayed anyway, after all they hadn't dismissed her.

"We need to unite this people out there that have been doing nothing but killing each other in an arena for years. On that note, Miss Moore that's the reason you are here." Plutarch's gaze suddenly snapped towards the brunette.

Kathryn's gaze flew towards the man, giving him a questioning look, "Please enlightened me. What do I have to do with this?"

"We have to show, that the Games don't matter anymore. That the Districts can stand side by side and don't have to be divided anymore. You and Miss Everdeen are the perfect example. So you have to accompany Katniss on every step she takes. Gain her trust- be her friend- and make sure to show the word."

The brunette didn't move while she listened to his plan, not sure what she thought of this whole thing.

Plutarch's gaze moved back towards the President, "We have to have a lightning rod. They follow her. She's the face of the revolution. Let her see it. Let her go home."

The President seemed to struggle before she finally gave in and gave her permission, "Send her."

THE EXCURSION CAME quicker than Kathryn had expected and before the brunette knew, she was on her way to the helicarrier that would bring her and Katniss to the remainings of District 12.

The brunette woman walked quietly next to Katniss. Her hands were dangling on each of her sides, her gaze trained on the helicarrier infront of her.

Their footsteps echoed through the air and Kathryn's eyes landed on a brunette man that was standing by the helicarrier.

Suddenly Katniss ran past her, jumping into the arms of the young man.

"I can't believe you're going through this. You can say no", the man immediately said sympathetic as they let go of one another.

The girl on fire looked up into his extremely blue eyes, "I need to see it for myself."

"This way."

Kathryn's eyes found the eyes of the brunette man before he motioned for her to step inside. The woman nodded thankfully before she silently made her way inside, not looking back.

The flight was quiet, none of them spoke much, or at least Kathryn didn't listen.

She could see that the brunette man meant something to Katniss, they knew each other closely. But before she could finish her assessment, they reached twelve.

Suddenly the man joined her and introduced himself as Gale. Kathryn found him to be very nice and had a good talk with him unitl it was time and the three positioned themselves by the doors.

As they opened Gale let his gaze wander over the ruins that laid right infront of them.

"13 swept everything top to bottom so you'd be safe." He looked over at Katniss, a questioning look on his face, "You're sure you don't want me to go with you?"

The dark haired woman nodded her head, "Yeah. I'm sure. Besides that, I'm not alone." Her gaze wandered off towards Kathryn and the young brunette nodded lightly.

Gale gave in and sighed before he walked back inside, "We'll have our eyes on you from above."

The two women stepped out of the helicarrier, letting the doors close behind them.

Katniss gaze wander over the ruins, the tears already whelming up in her eyes. Kathryn remained silent, staying behind the woman from twelve as they started to make their way through the destroyed district.

It was horrifying. Every house was burned to the very ground, the only remainings faint memory's of the house's they used to be.

The debris built large piles everywhere and grey smoke rose from them, into the clouded sky.

The brunette stopped in her trail when she saw that Katniss was staring at something on the ground breathing heavily, her hand covered her mouth in shock.

Katniss started whimpered uncontrollably before she walked up the hill and spotted all the remaining corpses that laid there.

Kathryn quickly followed after the woman, in completely shocked as she spotted the many remainings of the people that had died during the attack. Man, woman, children.

The brunette got sick to her stomach as she thought about the possibility, that this could happen to her District as well.

Katniss fell onto her knees, crying. Her whole body was shaking while the tears ran down her cheeks.

Kathryn gave Katniss a sympathetic look before she kneeled down beside her. "Hey, it's alright."

She carefully placed her arms around the woman and started patting her head. "It's okay. Let it out."

Katniss grabbed onto her arm and laid her head against her chest, sobbing quietly. Kathryn's voice was only a whisper, "It's alright- It's okay."

There as a moment of silence between them before the brunette's eyes narrowed and she let a single tear drop down onto her cheeks, "-We'll let him pay for this."

The two women remained that way for a couple of moments, until Katniss had calm down and the two went to see the victory village.

The two strolled through the Village in silence before Katniss spoke up, breaking the silence between them. "Thank you- for- for what you did back there."

"It was nothing", Kathryn said as she gave Katniss a nodd. The dark haired woman besides her, fiddled with her fingers as she looked onto the ground, "You didn't have-"

Kathryn interrupted her quickly, "But I did." She let her gaze wander over the mansions, that looked exactly like the ones in District four.

There was nothing demaged. It almost looked like nothing had happened in District twelve.

The two women came to a stand infront of one of the Mansions. Eyeing the gigantic building uncertaint, Katniss hesitated to approach it.

"I'll be waiting here", Kathryn stated softly while she watched the woman walk up the white stone stairs.

The door closed behind Katniss with a loud thud and Kathryn settled down on the stairs, before she closed her eyes and released a deep breath.
